Now, over two decades after they parted ways, their old relationship is stirring up conversations once again. After a video from the 1998 Oscars recently resurfaced, the names of the former lovers have returned to fans’ lips. Here’s a timeline of their brief ‘90s romance.

April – June 1997: Matt Damon & Minnie Driver Meet & Start Dating

In 1998, Damon and Driver met on the set of Good Will Hunting. Filming for the movie took place between April and June 1997. Within that time, the two became pleasantly acquainted. As filming progressed, so did their relationship- both for the characters they portrayed and in real life. They took a liking to each other, and by the time filming wrapped in June, they were smitten. 

Subsequently, they began dating, marking the beginning of a passionate but short romantic relationship. In an interview on the Late Show with David Letterman, Matt Damon enthusiastically spoke about Minnie Driver and their relationship. The actor said that she “pretty much rocked my world.”

January 1998: A Surprising Announcement

After a couple months of being together, things came to a surprising end between Driver and Damon. On an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in January 1998, Matt Damon shared that he was single. According to E! News, Damon said on the show, “Well, I’m single. I was with Minnie for a while, but we’re not really romantically involved anymore. At the end of the day, however, It’s been 25 years since they went their separate ways. Moreover, they have both moved on with their lives. Jack Harlow Has Landed Another Movie Role With Matt Damon And Casey Affleck

Jack Harlow landed another movie role before his debut movie, White Men Can’t Jump, has even been released. According to Deadline, the Louisville rapper turned actor will be appearing in the Apple Original Film ‘The Instigators’ alongside Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. The film, written by Affleck with Chuck MacLean and directed by Doug Liman, will also feature a murderer’s row of film talent including Alfred Molina, Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ron Perlman, and Ving Rhames. The plot will follow a pair of thieves on the run after a botched robbery (those Afflecks love their heist films, eh?).

Harlow may be a relative novice to acting, but he’s gotten some great looks so far. He’s also shown an ability to turn on the charm in smaller doses; he’s acted ads for Doritos and New Balance, as well as taking on a few funny spots during his stint as a Saturday Night Live host. Jack and Bowen Yang drew great reviews in their unhinged “Bartenders” sketch, so provided his upcoming roles don’t demand a lot of heavy acting, the screen rookie should do okay.

We’ll find out just how talented he is — at acting and at basketball — when White Men Can’t Jump comes to Hulu on May 19.

Michael Jordan & Nike’s Partnership Hits Big Screen With “Air” Trailer: Watch

Before the Ben Affleck-directed film trailer is played during the Super Bowl (an advertisement with a hefty $7 million price point), Amazon dropped the first official trailer for Air. MGM will release the film exclusively to theaters on April 5, 2023 on over 3,000 screens throughout the United States. After its theatrical release, the film will be available for streaming. The film is Affleck’s highly anticipated directorial follow up to his 2016 film, “Live by Night,” as well as 2012’s best picture, “Argo.”

Air takes place in 1984 and follows the story of how the partnership between Nike‘s basketball division and Michael Jordan came to be. At the time, Jordan was just a rookie who had never set foot on an NBA court. But Nike saw something special in him. The company’s executives were wary and unsure of the collaboration with such a small player. However, the partnership completely altered the sports world and its connection to pop culture through the launch of Air Jordan.

According to the Air longline, “This moving story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all time.” Affleck and Matt Damon will play Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro and Nike’s co-founder Phil Knight, respectively. Starring with them is Viola Davis, who will play Michael Jordan’s mother, Deloris Jordan.

The Air cast also includes Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler and Julius Tennon as James Jordan. Air was produced by Peter Guber, Jason Michael Berman, Jeff Robinov, and Madison Ainley, as well as Damon and Affleck.
