Logic Offers To Pay ‘Broke’ Fans Rent: ‘Can’t Have You Out Here on the Streets’

Logic Announces 'The College Park Tour' Featuring Juicy J

Logic is doing the good work. A fan asked the rapper for a pair of tickets to his upcoming concert because he was currently struggling with his rent. What’s Logic’s solution? Give the tickets AND pay the rent.

“Logic I’m broke and about to move out my place I wanna see you in concert though,” a fan wrote.

In response, Logic says in a video, “F*ck the tickets; can I help you with your rent?”

“My people gonna hit you up. I’mma help you out a little bit. We gonna send you something slight. Help you out, you know what I mean? Can’t have you out here on the streets.”

He added, “And you get free tickets and merch and YOUR RENT PAID!!!!!! We take care of the RattPack!! That’s family.”

Logic has announced a tour following the release of his College Park album. Logic: The College Park Tour with Special Guest Juicy J will launch in Madison, WI, on May 25.

The tour will receive additional support from C Dot Castro and Travis Stacey.

College Park marks the beginning of Logic’s new chapter while simultaneously encompassing his whole musical and personal experience to date. After working with Def Jam Records for ten years, Logic decided to go independent. It teamed up with BMG for his most recent album, which includes the singles “Wake Up,” “Paradise II” with Norah Jones, “Highlife,” and “Lightsabers.”

The show will touch Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, and more.

You can see the run of tour dates below.

Joe Budden Seemingly Responds To Kxng Crooked Over Logic Criticism

On March 8, Joe Budden revealed on his podcast that he hates Logic’s music. On March 10, Kxng Crooked asked why. Budden has finally answered the question. He revealed why he does not like the man behind the music. During the Joe Budden podcast on March 8, they talked about Logic’s cover of Ice Cube’s ” It Was a Good Day”. Budden had some choice words to say about Logic, saying that he should just retire and stop making songs. “Logic, I beg of you, I’m pleading with you: please join me in retirement. Never step near a recording device again… You are the worst, yo! You are really, really bad!”

Two days later, Budden’s former groupmate, Kxng Crooked, responded to the episode on social media, asking Budden why he hates Logic’s music so much. He thinks that there are plenty of people that are in bigger need of being bullied into retirement. “Why does dude hate Logic’s music so much? Serious question. It’s some rappers I wish would retire waaaaaayyy before Logic.”

Joe Budden Responds

Budden’s response to Kxng Crooked reveals that he hates Logic not because of his music, but rather because he is a kiss-ass. He also implies that Kxng Crooked is just as much of a kiss-ass as Logic for trying to fight Logic’s battle for him, instead of letting the man fight them himself. He implies this by refusing to give names and saying that people should fight their own fights. Something that Kxng Crooked is not letting Logic do. When asked to list names instead of being vague on who is on he is talking about, Budden claims that it is not worth the hassle, implying that there are many people he is talking about simultaneously and not just Logic.

Kxng Crooked had walked into a longer beef than he probably realized. The two had been going at it for literally years. It is so bad that Budden was part of the reason why Logic retired in 2020. In 2022, he was on a podcast and responded to Budden’s hatred of him. He thinks that he is a hurt person who likes to make other people feel as bad as he does.

Logic Wonders ‘Who Gives A F*ck?’ About His Ice Cube Cover After Getting Praised By The Man Himself

A couple of years ago, I wrote about why hip-hop doesn’t really do covers of past songs and albums like other genres. I still think it’s pretty good, but last week, rap fans got an object lesson in how harshly a cover can get judged when Logic put a melodic spin on Ice Cube’s 1992 classic “It Was A Good Day.”

While Logic doesn’t see hip-hop as a competition, plenty of rap fans were appalled that he would deign to recreate such a seminal song from the hip-hop canon. However, he shrugged off the backlash on TikTok, claiming that he’d already received the most important co-sign: One from Ice Cube himself.

Replying to a comment that suggested he do a whole album of similar covers, Logic posted a whole new video saying, “It’s funny you should say that because I thought about doing that… Everybody’s all pissed off at me because I did a f*cking Ice Cube cover. Meanwhile, I texted Ice Cube and he’s like, ‘Man, keep on doing you, brotha.’ Who gives a fuck [about the backlash]?”

He also agreed about a potential covers album, positing he could use it for a good cause. “I should do a whole f*cking album, and just do a whole album of f*cking hard-ass ’90s records and call it Logic Greatest Hits, and get all them paid, and get them publishing, and take care of all the legends and the GOATs and the greats from the 90s.”

While it seems that Logic may need a refresher on how publishing royalties work, it’s hard to be mad at him for working to flip a pretty negative situation into a helpful one, even if it doesn’t quite work the way he seems to think (many early pioneers of hip-hop do not own their publishing, so they probably wouldn’t get paid much, if at all, by a covers album). And while that may make some rap fans angry, it certainly does seem as though it’d generate some buzz.

Logic Responds To Backlash From ‘It Was A Good Day’ Cover: ‘Who Gives A F*ck!’

logic

Logic recently responded to the backlash stemming from his cover of Ice Cube’s classic song “It Was A Good Day.” While fans of Ice Cube and the original song have come out against the cover, and even Joe Budden needed to double down on his disklike of Logic’s music because of it, it seems as if Logic is unfazed by the criticism.

In a video posted on TikTok, Logic responded to a comment on a previous video where a user said that he should do a full album of covers from songs from the 1990s. He even added that he texted Ice Cube after the fact and gave him his stamp of approval.

Logic said in response: “You know it’s funny you should say that. Um, it’s funny you should say that because I thought about doing that. Wouldn’t that be cool? Everybody’s all pissed off at me because I did a fucking Ice Cube cover. Meanwhile, I texted Ice Cube and he’s like, ‘Man, keep on doing you brotha,’ like what the… who gives a fuck. Who gives a fuck.”

Logic even added that he might even do an album full of covers of 90’s songs and call it Logic’s Greatest Hits.

“But you know what would be great? Is if, you’re right. I should do a whole fucking album, and just do a whole album of fucking hard ass 90s records and call it Logic Greatest Hits, and get all them paid, and publishing, and take care of all the legends and the goat’s and the great’s from the 90s. And fucking do a covers album, who gives a fuck.. whaaat.”

We sure do know who wouldn’t be a fan of Logic covering more songs from the 1990s. That would be Joe Budden, who on last week’s episode of his Joe Budden Podcast, slammed the rapper for the cover and reiterated his dislike for his music and asked him to stop rapping.

“Logic, I beg of you, I’m pleading with you: please join me in retirement,” he said. “Never step near a recording device again! Throw your phone in the ocean! Be allergic to microphones! Promise your fans nothing! Don’t go to the studio ever again! You are the worst, yo! You are really, really bad!”

Logic Seemingly Reacts To Backlash Over Ice Cube Cover

As Joe Budden doubles down on his ire about Logic, the DMV rapper delivered what looks to be a response to ongoing discussions. Logic has been a polarizing talent in Hip Hop as fans and his peers debate his lyrics and delivery. He’s recently shared albums College Park and Vinyl Days, and while his fans are thrilled about his emergence from retirement, Joe Budden wants less of Logic on the mic. The latter shared his rendition of Ice Cube’s 1990s classic “It Was a Good Day,” where he crooned the fan favorite. Reactions were a mixed bag; it looks like Logic responded in a simple tweet.

The rapper shared a photo of himself seemingly toasting to the good life while playing dominoes. The caption read, “Then we played bones, and I’m yellin domino”—a bar from Cube’s track. Logic took a calm approach despite Budden giving a scathing hot take on his podcast. He has been going in on Logic for years, and it’s clear that not only is Budden not a fan, but he’s also ready for Logic to hang it up.

“And then when we think he can’t get any worse, you have the bright idea of doing an Ice Cube flip,” Budden said this week. Logic also faced pushback about using the n-word during his cover, although the word was in Cube’s original lyrics. The fast-rhyming rapper is biracial and speaks of his background often. However, his use of the n-word is something that Budden doesn’t seem to accept.

“Logic is just not himself. I just think that Logic should be himself. He panders to the Black community every other second,” he said. Well, that’s the problem with panders, is that they always gotta find something new to pander to.” After receiving backlash for the harsh delivery, Budden returned to double down on his sentiments.

Ice Cube’s Son Jokes About Logic’s Cover

Actor and filmmaker O’Shea Jackson Jr., Cube’s son, also caught wind of Logic’s cover. He joked about the rapper singing the line about Cube having sex with a woman named Kim—which happens to be Jackson’s mother. He teased that if the rapper said that again about his mama, Jackson would have to come see him face-to-face. Check out the cover above and let us know your thoughts on this rendition.

Joe Budden & Peter Rosenberg Clash Over His Criticism Of Logic

The Internet had a lot to say about Logic’s cover of Ice Cube’s “Today Was A Good Day” including Joe Budden and Peter Rosenberg. The podcast host made it evidently clear that he was not feeling Logic’s cover of the iconic record, specifically his use of the N-word. He explained in a fiery tirade that he felt Logic frequently panders to different groups with his records, such as “1-800-273-8255,” the hit record named after the suicide helpline.

“Logic, I beg of you, I’m pleading with you: please join me in retirement,” Budden said. “Never step near a recording device again! Throw your phone in the ocean! Be allergic to microphones! Promise your fans nothing! Don’t go to the studio ever again! You are the worst, yo! You are really, really bad!” Budden’s comments towards Logic are only mildly surprising since he’s previously criticized the College Park rapper in the past. However, Joe Budden later apologized when Logic explained how hurtful the comments were, though others, like Peter Rosenberg, suggested the criticism came from a place of resent.

Joe Budden Vs. Peter Rosenberg

Though many disliked Logic’s cover, not everyone felt as passionately about it as Joe Budden. Twitter came for the Mood Muzik rapper, especially since Budden’s criticism evidently weighed heavy on Logic in the past. Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg suggested that Joe Budden’s own career in rap can’t hold a candle to Logic’s. “Logic has TWO Billboard Number 1 albums … 3 platinum albums, 1 gold album and a nearly diamond single,” Peter Rosenberg wrote. “sorry [Joe Budden] — i love ya..and the ice cube cover was not a great choice .. but he has done way too well in music for you to tell him anything.”

Rosenberg’s argument didn’t sway Budden’s opinion at all. “Love you too Pete but by this ‘logic’, you shouldn’t be telling me anything about podcasting,” he responded. Budden’s referencing his previous appearance on Hot 97 in 2016 where the former rapper walked out mid-interview. During the interview, Rosenberg explained that he didn’t feel like Budden gave him credit for setting him up with a studio for his podcast, the previously titled, I’ll Name This Podcast Later. However, Budden refuted those claims then. Check out Joe Budden’s response to Peter Rosenberg above.

Joe Budden Urges Logic To Join Him In Permanent Rap Retirement

Joe Budden joins O’Shea Jackson and a legion of critics who are not happy with Logic’s cover of Ice Cube’s “Today Was A Good Day.” This week, Logic covered the iconic song during a live set for his YouTube page, though his melodic approach to the record was among the many issues that people took of the song. Now, Joe Budden hopes that the Maryland MC might consider this a sign to drop the microphone forever. “Logic, I beg of you, I’m pleading with you: please join me in retirement,” Budden said. “Be allergic to microphones! Promise your fans nothing! Don’t go to the studio ever again! You are the worst, yo! You are really, really bad!”

“And then when we think he can’t get any worse, you have the bright idea of doing an Ice Cube flip,” Budden continued. At this point, the former Slaughterhouse rapper explained that he took issue with Logic’s use of the N-word in the song. “Logic is just not himself. I just think that Logic should be himself. He panders to the Black community every other second,” he said. Well, that’s the problem with panders, is that they always gotta find something new to pander to.”

The Root Of Joe Budden’s Issue With Logic

Joe Budden had plenty to say about Logic’s cover of Ice Cube’s single. However, his issues with the Young Sinatra rapper go back to 2017 when Logic dropped, “1-800-273-8255.” “I thought that was disgusting, but I could have been wrong,” he explained. “But ever since then, all of that Martin Luther King, ‘We Have a Dream,’ freedom fighter speech shit he be trying to do, I don’t buy it. Now, I can be wrong in that.”

Budden concluded the segment by explaining that Logic’s attempt to connect with different fanbases so blatantly has turned him off from his music. The podcast host explained that it felt too contrived and perhaps, was more about providing Logic with an identity through his persona. “I don’t know where to begin with why I don’t buy it. I think that if you have to do so much pandering to make someone believe it, then I think you’re trying to make yourself believe it,” he said. Logic’s Cover Of Ice Cube’s “Today Was A Good Day” Get’s O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s Attention

Logic is in full swing as he continues to settle into his non-retirement. The rapper seemed as if he was done with the industry for a brief moment before returning to announce he was un-retiring. Since then, there have also been rumors of a collaborative project with Madlib, and recently, he dropped off his anticipated effort, College Park. The newly independent artist is pushing forward, full steam ahead, and this week, he shared a cover of a Hip Hop favorite.

Ice Cube’s “Today Was a Good Day” was one of the few hits that took over in 1992. To be fair, the song continues to be a staple, so its reign continues as interest is renewed from one generation to the next. Logic paid homage to Cube’s classic by sharing a cover of the track. He slowed things down with live musicians backing him up, and once it was released, fans were quickly divided.

Opinions varied as criticisms poured in. Some people seemed unaware that Logic is biracial, even though he often raps about it. Those critics took issue with him saying the n-word, which sparked a separate conversation. Meanwhile, of all the shared hot takes, Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s was the most important.

Jackson also reshared the clip of Logic’s cover and added a few thoughts. “I respect Logic. I think he can rap. And that’s all I really need,” he said. “But bruh… if [I] ever hear you sing about my mother again… it’s gone be a misunderstanding lmaoooo.” Jackson was, of course, referencing his dad’s bars about getting a “beep from Kim, and she can f*ck all night.” Additionally, many fans didn’t know the line was about Cube’s wife.

O’Shea Jokes About His Parents

“Imagine having to be your pops hype man and doing that part …….. I’ll wait………pretty awkward right…….” Jackson told a Twitter user who was shocked by the reveal. “So now when either me or my brother in stage with him the line is ‘I got a beep from HER’ instead of my moms name.” Check out Logic’s cover above and let us know what you think of his rendition.
