DJ Akademiks Argues Kendrick Lamar & J Cole Never Had A “Stimulus Package” Like Drake

DJ Akademiks may have already admitted that the so-called “Drake stimulus package” isn’t what it once was, but regardless, he recently argued no other artist had one to begin with. Addressing the topic on a new stream, Akademiks claimed neither Kendrick Lamar nor J Cole could ever guarantee an artist’s song would hit the charts.

“I’ll say that the Drake stimulus package is not the same at this moment, but here’s why I say it’s not the same,” he began. “Let’s be clear. Kendrick does not have a stimulus package. J Cole does not have a stimulus package. These other guys don’t have a stimulus package where they just hop on any song and it automatically charts. That was only allotted to Drake.” From there, he explained how criticism of Drake is similar to that of LeBron James. “When we talk about LeBron, we don’t use the same criticism for KD because we’re like, ‘KD’s not compared to Michael. LeBron, you are. So, we’re gonna use this unrealistic expectation for you because you’re compared to the greatest that’s ever lived.’”

It’s not the first time Akademiks’ has spoken on the stimulus package not being what it once was. During a stream in July, following the release of Drake’s collaboration with Camila Cabello, he remarked: “Drake’s wings, slightly, feel clipped. The Drake Stimulus Package right now, doesn’t exist. Drake going on Camila Cabello’s track didn’t do nothing.” Fans brought up this change in tone on social media in the wake of his more recent remarks. “But he is also the one that said and I quote the Drake stimulus package wasn’t working,” one user wrote.

Adin Ross says that Donald Trump said the two will be able to do another stream together in the future and that it will take place at the White House. He reflected on his interview with the former President during a livestream on Friday. In doing so, he revealed that he’ll be speaking with Trump again at the White House if he wins in the upcoming election.

“This is what he says before the last words. ‘Adin, next one we do we’ll go to the White House.’ Smile on his face, walks out,” Ross recalled. From there, he praised his audience. “I don’t think you guys understand the power that you guys have. You guys showed the President of the United States how powerful this community is.”

When DJ Akademiks shared Ross’ comments on Instagram, fans were highly critical in the comments section. “Imagine listing to Adin Ross on political topics. A middle class kid with little education who got really rich really fast,” one user wrote. Donald Trump discussed Kanye West during an interview with Adin Ross on Monday afternoon. In doing so, he labeled the controversial rapper a “really nice guy” but admitted he’s a “complicated” person. The topic of West arose while Ross asked for his input on several celebrities. “He’s very complicated,” Trump said. “He’s a really nice guy, but he can get himself into trouble and get some other people, but you know. He’s got a good heart, he does. But he’s complicated.”

Trump and West have been on good terms for years. West famously met with the former President in 2018, which sparked ample backlash from his fanbase. After Ye began attempting to run for the presidency himself, their relationship went through a bit of a rough patch. Following the rapper’s antisemitic tirade on social media in 2022, Trump wrote on Truth Social that West was a “seriously troubled man.”

West wasn’t the only rapper Trump spoke about during the interview. He also discussed Young Thug and the YSL rapper’s ongoing RICO trial. In doing so, he called on District Attorney Fani Willis to treat him fairly. Additionally, he accused the Democratic party of staging a coup against Joe Biden to replace him with Kamala Harris. Last Tuesday, July 30, a repost from DJ Akademiks confirmed that the controversial streaming figure was going to have the former president of the United States on Kick. The hip-hop media pundit snagged a clip from Ross’ stream to further prove that this was a true possibility. “Officially locked in. We will have a livestream with President Donald Trump on August 5th and it’s gonna be insane”, Ross confirmed. It’s gonna be probably around 1:00 PM, eastern time. Stay up to date on my socials but it’s 100% locked in”. Well, it is August 5th, and at the time of writing it’s past 1 p.m. ET and there are people all over the world watching it unfold.

Overall, Adin Ross has been showing a lot of support for Donald Trump as of late. Akademiks is also responsible for revealing that he supposedly donated $3 million to the former POTUS’s election campaign. Additionally, these two met in person over a year ago, so this collaboration is not something totally out of the blue. Regardless of their loose previous connection, this is still one heck of a viral moment in the livestreaming community. Part of the reason for that is because of how Trump decided to enter the chat, so to speak.

Drake is apparently getting back to making the type of music that his fans want to hear, according to DJ Akademiks. The streamer recently discussed what he’s heard from the Toronto rapper regarding his plans for new music. In doing so, he revealed what Drake had to say about his next direction.

“You can say this is a confirmed thing,” Akademiks began. “This is him to me. He says, ‘Yo Ak, I’m back to giving everybody who loves me what they love from me.’ That’s a direct quote. Y’all got it. That’s as much as I can say that he said.” When the clip made its way to X (formerly Twitter), fans had mixed responses to the news. “Bro been telling his fans he’s gonna go to his old sound for the last 3 albums I don’t believe it,” one user wrote. Another said: “I hope so, I personally want a drake/wayne collab album tbh that’s something like NWTS imo.”

DJ Akademiks Claims That Central Cee Is A Top 5 Relevant Rapper

Central Cee is a massive star. The UK rapper has been recording since 2014, but he blew up off the strength of his 2022 single “Doja.” It’s been one success after another for the rapper, who scored a number one UK single with “Sprinter” in 2023. It seems apparent that Central Cee is here to stay, and DJ Akademiks is one internet personality who is absolutely convinced. Akademiks not only praised Central Cee during a recent stream, but claimed Cee was one of the most relevant rappers in the world.

The bold proclamation was made on June 25. DJ Akademiks was trying to work out who the biggest rappers were in terms of success. Central Cee, in Ak’s not-so-humble opinion, trumps most of the U.S. names at the moment. The cultural implications were not lost on the streamer. “Is this the first time,” Ak asked his viewers. “That a UK rapper could arguably be in the top 5 of rap?” He asserted that if Cee was not already, then he will be very soon. “I think Central Cee might be knocking on that door,” he asserted. “Top 5 relevant, right now.”

Central Cee Is The First UK Rapper To Be A XXL Freshman

Viewers were quick to shoot down Ak’s ruling. That being said, Central Cee does have a lot going for him at the moment. He received a prestigious co-sign from Travis Scott in 2023, when the Texas rapper was seen dancing and rapping along to one of his tracks. Cee was the first UK rapper ever to land on the XXL Freshman List. He was also the first UK rapper to earn a billion streams in a single year on Spotify. These are not fluke achievements. The “Sprinter” hitmaker is doing, in many ways, what Bad Bunny did for the reggaeton genre during the first half of the decade.

Central Cee is keenly aware of American hip-hop. He told The Guardian that he listened to the greats when he was growing up, and attempting to bring a similar level of authenticity. “J Cole, Kendrick Lamar,” he recalled. “I had to go and listen to these people for the first time. Even Jay-Z. So that was a fun time, because everything was clicking. I just remember lightbulbs.” The rapper is adamant that he plans to stay true to his unique style, however. “When I rap, I’m in a neutral mood,” he said. “I can relate to everything, every emotion that I’ve ever felt.” Let’s see if DJ Akademiks’ claim proves true.

Kai Cenat isn’t upset with Tyla’s team for allegedly instructing Charlamagne to avoid asking questions about him. The streamer reacted to a clip of Charlamagne making the revelation during an episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast. Cenat infamously asked the singer on a date during an appearance on his stream.

“I don’t blame her team for not wanting to ask about me,” Cenat began in a clip captured by DJ Akademiks. “I don’t blame her team for that.” From there, he explained: “You know what it is, I don’t think people understand the full streaming culture. It’s a big ass audience. It’s too big.”

“All I was doing was trying to give her an opportunity to clear it up because they said that’s been a thing for her,” Charlamagne said in the clip. “Now here’s the thing about the label…Labels always will come and say ‘hey can you not ask this, can you not ask that. Sometimes depending what it is like if it’s something like really personal, I’ll be like ‘sure I oblige.’ For this one, I said ‘no.’ The reason I said no, they had six things they didn’t want us to ask.” In addition to Kai Cenat, the label asked Charlamagne to avoid questions about dating rumors, an injury, and more. “So I said to them, ‘no.’ Now, when I say ‘no, I’m not going to oblige any of this,’ it is your job then, label, management, whoever, to either prepare the artist for the question or pull the interview. I’m fine with either. I already told you I’m not going to follow any of this,” Charlamagne concluded.

Earlier this week, Kendrick Lamar made an exciting announcement on his Instagram Story, revealing that he’ll be putting on his first post-Drake beef show later this month. The event, dubbed “The Pop Out,” has generated a ton of interest from fans itching to see him perform his now-infamous diss tracks. While it’s unclear whether or not he plans to do so, it looks like his supporters can’t wait to catch him live. Tickets went on sale today. Judging by the shocking number of people waiting in the queue to buy some, it’ll be packed.

The event is scheduled to take place on June 19th, also known as Juneteenth, at the Forum in LA. Unfortunately, the venue only holds around 17.5K people, meaning that many fans won’t be able to attend. Fortunately for those who couldn’t secure tickets, however, it was recently announced that the performance will be livestreamed on Twitch and Prime.

JT Recalls A Fan Trying To Rap Battle Her At An Afterparty: “Y’all Getting Bold.”

JT says that a fan approached her at an afterparty in an attempt to go against her in a rap battle. She explained the incident on social media and clearly wasn’t feeling it. She began by explaining that the fan pulled up on her at the club with the challenge and it was not the right environment.

“I’m like, ‘This ain’t even a performance. This is an afterparty and you wanna pull up on me and battle rap again sideways?’ Y’all getting bold. Pulling up on me at an afterparty and trying to battle rap is bold.” From there, she told her fans to behave and accused them of “getting out of hand.”
