Lil Tjay Says He Was Shot Seven Times In His First Message To Fans Since Leaving The Hospital

It has been a little over eight weeks since Bronx rapper Lil Tjay was hospitalized after being shot during a botched robbery attempt in New Jersey. After undergoing emergency surgery for multiple gunshot wounds, Tjay reportedly regained consciousness a week later and was able to speak and respond to questions without assistance. Miraculously, his voice was unaffected despite being shot in the chest and neck. Three arrests were made in the case, resulting in charges for first-degree attempted murder for the shooter and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon for his accomplices.

Earlier this week, Tjay announced his impending return to the spotlight with a billboard in his home borough announcing, MJ-style, “I’M BACK.” However, in a new video that he posted on Instagram today, he still looks like he’s a few weeks away from performing and recording again as he thanks fans for their support and reveals a few details of the shooting, including that he was shot seven times. “I just wanna say thanks for the love, thanks for the support,” he says in the video. “I’ve been looking at the DMs, the comments, and everything else and I feel love. Seven shots, it was tough, y’know? Most people don’t survive it, but I’m here. Here for a reason. New music coming soon. We’re gonna come back stronger than ever. Love y’all.”

Lil Tjay Announces His Return With A Billboard In The Bronx: ‘I’m Back’

Lil Tjay has had a tough year so far. In the early morning of June 22, the rapper was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery after being shot multiple times. He regained consciousness and doctors removed his breathing tube a week after the surgery. Now, a mere two months later, he’s already emerging back into the rap world.

A new billboard in the Bronx today was spotted on Tuesday that reads: “I’M BACK. — Lil Tjay.” That’s all it says, but it’s an exciting message, especially coming from someone who nearly died not so long ago.

Lil Tjay’s shooting caused a stir in the hip hop world. For one, it sparked a controversial reaction from Tekashi 69, the troll-ish Brooklyn rapper who went from dominating the city’s brash street scene to being branded a snitch after testifying against some of his gangbanging cronies. He responded in the comments of an Instagram post about the shooting with a pair of crying emojis — one laughing, one sobbing. 6ix9ine, though, has always been known for mocking other rappers’ misfortunes, including taunting King Von’s friends after the Chicago rapper’s death and trolling Young Thug after his recent racketeering arrest — the same charges Tekashi himself narrowly dodged having to testify about.

Jim Jones Shares Words Of Encouragement To Lil Tjay Following Near-Fatal Shooting

Jim Jones Doesn't Plan to Work With Max B When He's Released From Prison: 'F*ck Max B'

Lil Tjay was the victim of a near fatal shooting last week. Many musicians and fans alike sent out well wishes to the Destined 2 Win artist. Jim Jones even recently came out to share his words of encouragements to Tjay, and doubling down on his comments about being a rapper is “the most dangerous job.”

When speaking with HipHopDX, Jones was asked about his comments regarding rap being the most dangerous job, and he used LIl Tjay’s situation to back up his comments. “I stand on it,” Jones said. He then added “we have more rappers getting killed than we have weeks in the year. Shit, my prayers go out to Lil Tjay who just got shot up the other day, and I don’t even know his condition but, you know, it’s terrible out there. Every day they talk about a different rapper that just got shot or was involved in a shooting or something like that.”

Jones then said how rappers have a “50 percent chance of making it as a rapper and making it alive as a rapper.”

Even though a motive has not been discovered for the attack on Lil Tjay, Jones said that the shooting might have been over money.

“I don’t want nobody to ever get that twisted. Rap and music make a lot of money. Matter of fact, these rappers couldn’t get to the other money that they’re making if they didn’t have the music that they have. Nobody would give a fuck about them if they didn’t have some music that the people loved, so you gotta think about that.”

Following the shooting, Lil Tjay was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. At the time, he was in a questionable state, with doctors not knowing if he would survive. Recent reports indicate that since then, Tjay has been making significant progress towards recovery.

TMZ reported that Tjay is “awake and alert” and doctors were even able to remove his breathing tube. His voice also sounds like it did before the tragic incident.

Lil Tjay Is Reportedly Awake And Alert Enough To Speak A Week After Being Shot

TMZ reports that New York rapper Lil Tjay, who was shot along with one other person in New Jersey last week, has reached a significant milestone in his recovery. The 21-year-old rapper has regained consciousness and doctors have removed his breathing tube a week after receiving surgery. He’s apparently alert enough to speak and despite being shot in the chest and neck, TMZ reports no apparent damage to his voice. Now that he is awake, the police want to ask him about the shooting.

One man, Mohamed Konate, was arrested for the shooting, which police believe was the result of a robbery gone wrong. Two other individuals were also arrested. Konate has been charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder, while the other two arrests were apparently of Tjay’s friends. Both were charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. Meanwhile, no new updates have been given on the status of the second shooting victim, who was apparently also with Lil Tjay at the time.

Before the shooting, the young rapper anticipated a good summer and his year seemed to be going well so far. He’d just released a new single with Kaash Paige, “24 Hrs,” and is set to perform at all three announced Rolling Loud events in Miami, Toronto, and his hometown, New York.
