Lil Gotit Downplays Rumors Of A ‘YSL Civil War’ Prompted By Gunna’s Tweet About Lil Keed

Gunna accepted a plea deal and was released from jail in mid-December, avoiding the RICO trial against Young Thug and his other fellow YSL members, but he didn’t return to social media until this week.

“N****s acting like they switching to a side But it’s only one side. #YsltheLabel #FreeThug&Yak GUNNA BACC!!!!!” Gunna wrote on Instagram. Over on Twitter, he wrote, “R.I.P. KEED ILY & IMY TWIN.”

Both posts, predictably, generated a lot of chatter. Gunna’s Instagram caption rubbed DJ Akademiks the wrong way, as he tweeted, “YSL having a civil war beef on instagram. Gunna came out and tried testing the water … claiming YSL the label and said Free Thugga … and everybody in ysl lookin at gunna like ‘N***a u the reason he in there’ … they all unfollowed him right after even thug sister.”

Meanwhile, Lil Gotit posted “Don’t call me twin” on his Instagram Story, prompting some fans to connect his post to Gunna’s, even though it appears Gunna was calling Keed “twin,” not Gotit.

However, as captured by No Jumper’s Instagram, Lil Gotit went live on Instagram and downplayed Akademiks’ claim of a “civil war” with YSL and disavowed “fake love” being shown to the late Lil Keed, his brother who passed away in May 2022 from “natural causes prompted by eosinophilia“:

Some are connecting Lil Gotit’s comments about Lil Keed to Gunna’s tweet about Keed, even though Gotit said in the video, “This go for anybody.”

Last May, Gunna, Young Thug and 26 other YSL members were arrested and charged in a 56-count grand jury indictment including “conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, murder, armed robbery, participation in criminal street gang activity,” as reported by WSB-TV’s Michael Seiden at the time.

Gunna, as part of what’s called an Alford plea, pled guilty to one charge of conspiracy to violate the RICO Act on December 14:

As of late December seven YSL members had entered guilty pleas. Young Thug is facing eight charges.

Lil GotIt Reacts To Akademiks Claiming There’s A “Civil War Beef” In YSL

Lil GotIt denied that there is any feud among the YSL roster following what appeared to be a slew of subliminals directed at Gunna.

Shortly after Gunna made his return to social media and paid homage to Lil Keed, GotIt appeared to shut down his tribute. Then, he unfollowed Gunna, prompting Akademiks to describe the public dispute as a “civil war” among YSL members.

“YSL having a civil war beef on instagram. Gunna came out and tried testing the water … claiming YSL the label and said Free Thugga … and everybody in ysl lookin at gunna like ‘N***a u the reason he in there’ … they all unfollowed him right after even thug sister,” Akademiks wrote.

Though Ak’s observation was largely satirical, GotIt clearly caught wind of what the media personality said and cleared the air. He later hopped on Instagram and denied there being truth behind Akademiks’ comments. However, he said his comments were directed at anyone showing Lil Keed “fake love.”

“This ain’t no civil war. This ain’t none of that cappin’. I don’t know what the fuck Akademiks got goin’ on. He on some other one,” Lil GotIt said. Though he didn’t mention Gunna by name, he stated that he wasn’t tolerating anyone using Lil Keed’s name for clout.

“I’m talkin’ about anything that got to do with Keed. If I know it’s fake love you saying, I’m gon’ say something. I’m gonna put this out there,” Lil GotIt continued. “If I know it’s fake love — this goes for anybody. It ain’t aimin’ at no one [person]. I said what I said, in general. Like don’t say bruh name if you know it’s fake love, you wasn’t fuckin’ with him when he was here. That’s all I be mad — n***as thinkin’ I’m just tweakin’ out there.”

Lil GotIt Continues To Shade Gunna: “We Nothing Alike”

Gunna isn’t getting a warm embrace from his fellow YSL compatriots following his latest Instagram post.

As you know, the DS4EVER rapper was released from jail last month after accepting an Alford plea. Though his legal team denied that he snitched on Young Thug and the other defendants, many haven’t forgotten that he admitted that YSL is, indeed, a gang.

So, when Gunna emerged on Instagram last night calling for Yak Gotti and Young Thug’s freedom, certain members associated with YSL weren’t feeling it. Lil GotIt, most notably, distanced himself from Gunna after the “pushin p” rapper paid homage to GotIt’s brother, the late Lil Keed.

“Don’t call me twin,” GotIt wrote in response to Gunna referring to Keed as his “twin.” Afterward, fans noticed GotIt and Young Thug’s sister, HiDoraah, unfollowed Gunna on Instagram.

Though Gunna hasn’t responded to GotIt’s recent shots, the “Playa Chanel” rapper elaborated on his thoughts further.

“We nothing alike so don’t call me twin… Spike up my soda hit harder then gin… N***as in black and white without a Pen,” he captioned the post.

Afterward, GotIt shared a photo of himself and Lil Keed on his story. “Before anybody think we some bitches I’ll prove em otherwise,” he wrote “Just get yo rest twin.”

Gunna might have denied that he’s cooperated with authorities in the YSL case, it seems like GotIt and other YSL affiliates feel differently after the infamous “Yes Ma’am” video surfaced.

We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding Lil GotIt and Gunna.

Lil Keed’s Cause Of Death Has Been Revealed Eight Months After His Passing

Although YSL Records artist Lil Keed passed away nearly eight months ago, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner/Coroner’s Office is only now sharing its final findings into the 24-year-old rapper’s cause of death. According to XXL, the rapper died of natural causes prompted by eosinophilia, a higher than normal level of disease-fighting white blood cells. Eosinophilia can be caused by autoimmune diseases, infections (especially from parasites), and blood cancers, as well as hereditary genetic mutations.

Before his death, Keed reportedly complained of severe stomach pain, checking into an LA hospital for tests. However, several of his organs including his liver and kidneys failed shortly after he checked in, and he died a few days later. At the time of his death, Keed was two years removed from his second studio album, Trapped On Cleveland 3, which had received a favorable fan response. Keed was also a standout on YSL’s Slime Language 2 compilation, which highlighted the label’s growing roster of talent.

Unfortunately, much of that roster wound up behind bars shortly after Keed’s death as the label’s founder Young Thug and several of its artists were indicted in a 56-count racketeering investigation accusing YSL of being a “hybrid street gang.” The trial against Thug is set to begin this month after several of the other artists, including Gunna, accepted plea deals in exchange for their freedom. Thug was offered no such deal, and it’s believed he was the true target of the investigation all along.

Lil Keed is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
