Lakers Reportedly Interested In These Two Point Guards

LeBron James and the Lakers are a team in need of some help. With Anthony Davis injured, it has become difficult for the team to make a run. They are stuck at 13th in the Western Conference, however, they remain just 2.5 games out of sixth place, which is kind of remarkable. Overall, they can still make a big splash.

That being said, many are looking toward the Lakers as the trade deadline arrives soon. The trade deadline could be a big deal for the team as there are plenty of teams looking to buy and sell. When it comes to the Lakeshow, they are seen as more of a buyer than anything else.

Lakers Want Point Guards

According to reporter Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today, there are two point guards that the Lakers are interested in. These two guards are Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry. The Raptors and the former Raptors are highly skilled at their positions and are seen as upgrades over Russell Westbrook.

Additionally, both of these point guards are being put on the trading block. The Raptors know VanVleet can walk at the end of the year. Moreover, the Heat don’t want to pay Lowry anymore. Having said that, both could be the perfect players to trade Westbrook for.

The Lakers still have plenty of time to make a decision. Having said that, fans want to win now, and they aren’t going to tolerate another losing season, especially with LeBron at the helm.

LeBron James Clarifies Remarks On Potential Lakers’ Trade

LeBron James has clarified his recent comments on the Lakers’ reluctance to trade first-round picks to improve the roster. In a pair of tweets published on Sunday, James clarified that his “patience isn’t waning.”

“Y’all know what the fuck should be happening,” James told the Athletic’s Sam Amick, before adding, “I don’t need to talk.”

Amick later shared the quote on social media, describing James’ patience with the organization as “waning.” Afterward, James responded with a clarification of his quote.

“Hey Sam actually my patience isn’t waning,” he wrote back. “You make it sound like I’m frustrated when I’m really not. I told you over and over, my job is focused on the guys in the locker room, my job isn’t the roster.”

He further wrote: “That’s the reality of that conversation and I said what I said with the upmost respect and calmness cause that’s the mood I’m in! Your welcome! 5 game winning streak.”

The Lakers are currently 19-21 on the season, several spots out of playoff contention in the Western Conference.

Following a five-game losing streak in December, James hinted at his future with the team being unclear.

“I’m a winner and I want to win. I want to win and give myself a chance to win, and still compete for championships,” James said. “Playing basketball at this level just to be playing basketball is not in my DNA. It’s not in my DNA anymore. We’ll see what happens and see how fresh my mind stays over the next couple years.”

LeBron James Could Be Traded This Summer, Says NBA Insider

LeBron James just turned 38 years old today. At this point, everyone knows that he is approaching the end of his career. In fact, he even spoke about retirement this week. However, it is clear that James can still play at a high level and that he is motivated to do big things.

Unfortunately, the Lakers have not given him the roster he needs to compete. There have been calls for the Lakers to make a move, however, they don’t seem to have the faculties to do that right now. If anything, they will have to wait until the offseason.

According to a report from Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, there is a scenario in which the Lakers would have to straight up trade LeBron James. Essentially, if they can’t secure free agents like Kyrie Irving or Draymond Green, then LeBron will have little reason to want to stay. Overall, it creates a bad situation for the Lakers.

LeBron James Trade?

Per Mannix:

“Let’s face it: LeBron James’s decision to extend his contract with the Lakers was a mistake. It was a mistake for James, who doesn’t need the guaranteed cash, pushing his deal through 2023–24 limited his leverage. It was also a mistake for L.A., which didn’t have the pieces to build a title contender around James and (this season, anyway) doesn’t have the flexibility to do anything with him.

“In an ideal world, the Lakers use the cap space created by Russell Westbrook’s exit next summer to sign Kyrie Irving or Draymond Green, flip a draft pick or two and vault back into contention next season. But if that doesn’t happen, can the Lakers really go into 2023 with James, Anthony Davis and whatever group of castoffs they can assemble around them? Would James want to? Dealing James would take some chutzpah, but if L.A. whiffs on big-ticket items next offseason, is there really a better choice?”

It seems unfathomable that LeBron would be traded. However, even Wayne Gretzky was traded. At the end of the day, everyone has their own interests and if LeBron and the Lakers don’t align, then they must part ways.

Lakers Reportedly Interested In Bradley Beal

If you are a Lakers fan, you know that this team needs some help right now. Sure, they have Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. However, AD is always injured and it seems like LeBron has to carry every night. This is not sustainable, and if they want to make the playoffs, a trade has to be made.

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of players to trade for right now. Most of the best players in the league are cemented on their teams. Furthermore, no one is asking for trades right now. Even players like Bradley Beal in impossible situations don’t want out.

Lakers Like Beal

Despite Beal’s standing in Washington, it seems like the Lakers want to make some sort of deal happen. According to Marc Stein, teams around the NBA believe that the Lakers are currently stockpiling their assets. This is all in the event that Beal decides he wants to get out of Washington.

“Some rival teams believe that the Lakers want to try to keep their two most coveted trade assets in case a currently unforeseen shot to trade for a legitimate third star — like Washington’s Bradley Beal — materializes suddenly,” Stein explained.

Overall, this is a very unlikely outcome for the Lakers. They simply do not have the negotiating power to get anything done. Not to mention, Beal will likely want to stay in Washington.

LeBron James Speaks On Lakers’ “Reality” Without Anthony Davis

LeBron James says that life without Anthony Davis will be “very challenging” for the Los Angeles Lakers. James spoke about Davis’ absence following the team’s 124-115 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day.

“Reality is, without AD, we lose a lot of length which we don’t have already,” James explained. “So we have to make up in ways that, without AD, is very difficult, very challenging. So, I think at one point we had a lineup of I think [Austin Reaves] was the tallest guy on the court.

James continued: “So, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out [that Davis is sorely missed].”

Davis is currently out of the lineup while nursing a stress fracture in his right foot. Chris Haynes of Turner Sports reports that the team will reevaluate his health in two weeks.

“You throw everything up against the wall and see what sticks, ” Lakers coach Darvin Ham explained. “It’s one of those types of situations. AD’s not here, not in the lineup. We’re not going to start using that as an excuse. Hell yeah, it’s a big hole in our lineup. But now, we’re pros. We’ve got to step up.”

For the Lakers’ Christmas Day loss, LeBron James finished with 38 points on 13-for-23 shooting. He has now played in the most Christmas Day games in NBA history with 17.

The Lakers have dropped four straight games in Davis’ absence. The team is now 13-20 on the season, leaving them at 13th in the Western Conference standings.

Drake Goes Full Dad Mode, Stops Adonis From Eating Too Much Candy

Drake is continuing to soak in the success of his newest album, the 21 Savage-assisted, Her Loss. The former Degrassi star was spotted courtside at the Raptors vs. Lakers game in Toronto on Wednesday night (December 7). Additionally, he was accompanied by his five-year-old son Adonis.

A clip of the pair courtside at Scotiabank Arena has since gone viral on social media. An arena worker is seen coming up behind the “Hotline Bling” singer and his son to offer them more candy. Adonis is already enjoying a pack of Skittles.

Drizzy happily takes the first new bag of candy from the worker. Subsequently, she shows him a couple more bags, which the five-year-old seems to want as well.

Drake Steps In

It appears as though the Toronto superstar is trying to explain to his little twin that he could only indulge in one or the other.

As the global ambassador for the Raptors, Drake is spotted in his signature courtside seat quite often. This wasn’t Adonis’ first NBA game either, as the Grahams have been spotted enjoying games together in the past.

The five-year-old’s basketball skills have been documented by his father over the years. In the most recent clip, he can be seen dribbling two basketballs at once.

The 6 God’s newest project, the aforementioned Her Loss debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Overall, it served as his 12th No. 1 album and 21 Savage’s third.

Consequently, Her Loss dethroned Taylor Swift’s Midnights as the No. 1 album in the U.S. at the time. Subsequently, the album has also sparked some memes on social media since its release. Namely, the intro, “Rich Flex” has been made fun of all over the internet. In various videos, users poke fun at the way in which Drizzy starts the track off.

Additionally, neither LeBron James nor Anthony Davis played for the Lakers last night. Nonetheless, the father-son-duo still got to enjoy a 123-116 Raptors win.

Anthony Davis Blames Wrist Injury For Poor Shooting Last Season

Anthony Davis had some rough times last season. As many Lakers fans painstakingly remember, he only got to play 40 games, and it ultimately messed with the team’s chemistry. Numerous injuries began to take their toll on the Lakers superstar, and he wasn’t able to be as available as the team wanted him to be.

In addition to this, Davis was struggling to shoot from beyond the arc as he hovered around 18 percent throughout the entire season. This is by no means a good shooting performance, and Davis is well-aware of that. With that being said, Davis chalks it up to a wrist injury that he sustained back in January.

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

“A lot of people don’t know this but since January I was battling a wrist injury … it was tough for me to shoot how I wanted to shoot,” Davis told reporter Mike Trudell.

The good news here is that Davis is feeling much better and that he will be able to play his game as soon as the season starts a month from now.

Davis has had injury issues over the years, and there is this sense that we could get more of the same this season. Hopefully, this is not the case as the league is a lot more fun when Davis is firing on all cylinders.

SOURCE SPORTS: Lakers Are The “Most Significant Threat” To Acquire Kyrie Irving If He Leaves Brooklyn, According To Report

Kyrie Irving Says He Understood Nets Decision to Play Without Him

It seems Kyrie’s time with the Brooklyn Nets is coming to an end as the superstar is looking to head to another team in the offseason. In a new report from Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers are reportedly “the most significant threat” to acquire Kyrie if he decides to leave the Nets.

According to Wojnarowski, the Lakers can’t afford to pay Kyrie a max contract, but he’ll get to play with his former teammate LeBron James. Doing this, Kyrie would have to take a significant pay cut.

With the way the Lakers roster is already set up, Irving would be taking a $30 million pay cut to play with the team. He has a player option worth $36 million for the 2022-23 season and in order to join the Lakers, Irving would have to turn that down and sign a $6 million taxpayer exemption with the Lakers.

“Now, the Lakers are considered the most significant threat right now for Kyrie Irving, but that would essentially entail him taking $30 million less than he can opt into in Brooklyn,” Woj reported. “There’s a $6 million taxpayer exemption he can sign with the Lakers.”

While it seems unlikely that Kyrie will take that significant of a pay cut, the Nets point guard has reportedly been in contact with LeBron as of recent, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. However, if Kyrie does agree to opt-in, he could be a part of a trade that could include Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook going to the Nets.

Kanye West spotted courtside at Lakers game with new girlfriend Chaney Jones

kanye West Chaney Jones

On Friday night, Kanye West took a break from promoting Donda 2, but he definitely didn’t take a break from fueling the gossip mill. Ye joined new (reported) girlfriend Chaney Jones to watch the Lakers take on the Washington Wizards at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles.

Kanye wore a black hoodie, black jeans and black Balenciaga galoshes while Chaney wore black jeans, a low-cut v-neck shirt, black wrap sunglasses, and black gloves.

West and the 24-year-old Chaney, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Kim Kardashian (the rapper’s estranged wife) have been reportedly dating for several weeks now, following the rapper’s breakup with Julia Fox last month.

Chaney has not explicitly addressed her relationship with West publicly although she did share a simple quote from the ‘Positive Minds’ on her Instagram story, which simply read: “Small circle. Private life. Happy heart. Clear mind. Peaceful life.”

The couple’s appearance came on the same day that Kim Kardashian appeared to make her relationship with Pete Davidson official, sharing a series of romantic pictures of the two of them together.

The Lakers beat the Wizards 122 to 109.
