Kendrick Lamar Paused A Concert To Share Inspirational Words With A Young Boy In The Crowd

A 9-year-old boy named Kendrick attended his first ever concert in Detroit on Sunday night. Naturally, he went to see his idol Kendrick Lamar play at the Little Caesar’s Arena. And Lamar, who has been creating lasting moments already on The Big Steppers Tour, made this an unforgettable first concert experience for the younger Kendrick and for everybody else who was in and around the concert in Detroit.

While performing “Count Me Out,” Lamar noticed his 9-year-old namesake, who had written on a poster-board sign, “My name is Kendrick. This is my first concert. Can we take a pic.” Lamar looked over at the boy holding up the sign and flashed a huge smile while rapping the song like there was an immediate connection between the pair. Then, he broke his stride to address young Kendrick.

“It’s your first concert? You will forever be great,” he said as the crowd roared amidst all the feels. “You’re great right now – you can do whatever you put your mind to, you know? You understand that? I remember when I was your age as well, dreaming. Lil Kendrick, do what you wanna do in life.”

But that was just the first part of the magical evening for 9-year-old Kendrick. He met his idol after the show, who scribed a note to him on the back side of the poster board. It read: “Young Kendrick, thank you for coming. I’m glad we got to exchange energy. You are special. Continue to manifest the great energy you possess!!! See you next time!!! Luv!!!”

This experience equates to catching a foul ball in your first baseball game. Except instead of a foul ball, the team asked you to play outfield and you caught the last fly ball off a no-hitter. Bravo Lil Kendrick.

Drake Attended Kendrick Lamar’s Toronto Show Which Could Be A Good Sign For Their Complicated Relationship

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have both come a long way since Kendrick appeared on Drake’s second album, Take Care. At the time, Drake was an established star, coming off of a No. 1 debut in Thank Me Later and a string of Top 40 hits, and Take Care was set to be the confirmation of his superstardom. Kendrick, on the other hand, was about a year away from his own hotly anticipated debut album, but rising in popularity due to the strength of his independent mixtapes and co-signs from West Coast legends like Dr. Dre, The Game, and Snoop Dogg.

Since then, however, Drake and Kendrick’s relationship appears to have cooled. Despite collaborating twice more on Kendrick’s Good Kid, MAAD City single “Poetic Justice” and ASAP Rocky’s “F*ckin’ Problems,” the two seemed to distance from each other in the aftermath of Kendrick’s scorched-earth verse from Big Sean’s “Control,” a few apparent shots on songs like “King Kunta,” and during his 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher verse. Since then, fans have interpreted lines in both rappers’ songs as subliminal shots at the other, assuming that they had fallen out and couldn’t reconcile after so much supposed bad blood.

However, during Kendrick’s ongoing Big Steppers Tour stop in Drake’s hometown Toronto, The Boy himself was seen enjoying the show in a box to himself and his OVO compatriots. Fans who noticed him were excited to see him, getting and posting plenty of videos.

Meanwhile, Kendrick himself last made mention of his supposed rival on his new album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, admitting that he realized that various rap feuds were petty and childish, but also expressed reluctance to let them go. “When Kanye got back with Drake, I was slightly confused,” he says on “Father Time.” Guess I’m not as mature as I think, got some healin’ to do.” Whether he’s since done that healing remains to be seen, but some fans have already interpreted Drake’s presence at Kendrick’s show as a good sign that the two could be reconciling — or at least, on good enough terms to enjoy each other’s shows.

Kendrick Lamar Calls Baby Keem A ‘Musical Genius’ And ‘The Big Steppers Tour’ The ‘Greatest Show Alive’

Making a rare appearance on Twitter, Kendrick Lamar briefly shared an update from his “Big Steppers” tour. During his short bout on Twitter, Lamar expressed some kind words about his “Family Ties” collaborator, labelmate, and cousin, Baby Keem.

In a Tweet, Lamar praised Keem’s craft, simply posting, “baby keem musical genius.”

Elsewhere in his postings, Lamar said his “Steppers Tour” is the “greatest show alive.”

For years, there have been rumors about a joint album between Keem and Lamar. In an interview with the Recording Academy, Keem didn’t rule out the possibility.

“It could happen and it couldn’t, I don’t know,” Keem said. “It just really depends on a lot of factors that I don’t have control over. So, it’s just what the world wants. The world wants it, then it can have it.”

Keem previously spoke on his relationship with Lamar with Complex, saying that his cousin is one of the people he greatly admires.

“Whenever I need anything regarding, like, life, and if I need some wisdom, then that’s who I go to,” Keem said. “That’s one of the first people I look towards, him and Dave Free.”

Lamar’s latest album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, marks his last album on Top Dawg Entertainment. He is currently working on building his multi-disciplinary creative collective, pgLang.

Madonna Wants To Work With Kendrick Lamar And ‘Worships’ Him ‘More Than Anything In Life’

When Madonna dropped by 30 Rock to promote her upcoming remix album Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones (and make host Jimmy Fallon extremely uncomfortable), the pop music icon showed off her grill, played some word games with Fallon, and performed a classroom instruments version of her hit song “Music.” In another part of her interview, though, Fallon does get in some decent questions, including whether there are any artists that Madonna really wants to work with after nearly 40 years of popularity.

“There’s one artist that I worship more than anything in life and I would love to collaborate with,” she agrees, “and that’s Kendrick Lamar.” After a quick pause for applause, she elaborates, “His new record is history-making, mind-bogglingly brilliant.”

That new record is, of course, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which Kendrick dropped in May this year after a five-year hiatus since his Pulitzer Prize-winning album, DAMN. The album had the biggest first week of 2022 and was accompanied by a short film for “We Cry Together” and The Big Steppers Tour.

Meanwhile, in addition to her own new project, Madonna is getting plenty of attention for her remix of Beyonce’s dance hit “Break My Soul” for which Beyonce sent Madonna a thankful note after the remix’s release.

You can check out Madonna’s Tonight Show interview (she mentions Kendrick at the 2-minute mark) above.

Kodak Black Expresses Gratitude for Being Part of Kendrick Lamar’s Album: ‘He Ain’t Got To Do None of That’

Kodak Black and French Montana

Earlier this year, Kendrick Lamar released his Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers album, which featured a ton of Kodak Black. Months later, in a conversation with Spotify’s RapCaviar, Black expresses his gratitude for Lamar, including him in the body of work.

“Me and Kendrick got a lot of little things in common that people won’t probably understand,” Kodak Black said. “Both of us, we Geminis. Both of us, we Hebrew Israelite. Me and him could talk and he understand me beyond than what the internet theories. It’s like he got a different perception of me and he ain’t cap. He say we going to do something, and we do it. You know, Kendrick from the streets for real, too. I fuck with that boy. I got a lot of love for him.”

Kodak added, “We could’ve just did the song and it never came out. But he went as far as having me speak on the intros, the interludes, and all this other stuff. Having me do a poem on there. He already know what my intellect go. So he like, ‘Man, I just want you to go in there and talk your shit.’ And he trust me, and I appreciate him for trusting me with his album, cause he ain’t got to do none of that.”

If you are looking for more Kodak Black collaborations, he and French Montana will soon recreate some of their “Lockjaw” magic.

In a new video on social media, Kodak Black gives the details.

“Me and French Montana gon’ fucking around and drop an album soon,” Kodak said. “My album — Spotify, make sure you playlist that shit. I mean, fuck everybody. Playlist my shit. My shit be top rope. Me and French Montana shit top rope, too.”

There isn’t much more information around on the album, but when there’s smoke, there’s fire, especially from two high-volume producing artists like these. You can hear the announcement below.
