Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a dominant performance in his highly anticipated return to Target Center, leading the New York Knicks to a resounding victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The former Wolves star erupted for 32 points, 20 rebounds, and six assists in his first game back after being traded to New York this fall.
Towns received a heartfelt tribute from the Minnesota crowd, a moment he described as “emotional.” Reflecting on his nine-year tenure with the Timberwolves, Towns said, “It’s always great to get love back from a place that I dedicated my life to. I’ve never been traded before, so this experience was surreal.”
Towns wasted no time making his presence felt, nailing a 3-pointer from the top of the key on his first shot. That bucket sparked a perfect 5-of-5 performance from beyond the arc as he continued his stellar season-long shooting from deep (46.1%). By halftime, Towns had already notched a 22-point double-double, including 19 points in a dominant second quarter that saw the Knicks outscore Minnesota 41-18, building a 22-point lead.
The Knicks extended their lead to as much as 36, allowing Towns to rest most of the fourth quarter. His final stat line of 10-of-12 shooting placed him in elite company, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as one of only two players to record 30+ points and 20+ rebounds in their first game against a former team.
Towns also made history by becoming the first NBA player ever to post a 30/20 game with 5+ three-pointers on 80% shooting. Additionally, he joined Willis Reed as the only Knicks to achieve a 30/20 performance on such efficiency.
“I just let the game come to me,” Towns said. “I didn’t want to let my emotions overcome the game. I wasn’t playing for myself, I was playing for the win.”
The win solidified the Knicks’ position as a contender, with Towns proving his value on a team poised for success. For Towns, it was a night of closure and triumph in a place he once called home.
The Atlanta Hawks overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat the New York Knicks 108-100 at Madison Square Garden, earning a spot in the NBA Cup semifinals against the Milwaukee Bucks. Trae Young led Atlanta’s charge with 22 points and 11 assists, marking his league-leading 18th double-double of the season.
But all day you will see Young’s celebration on the New York Knicks logo.
Atlanta’s win was a complete team effort, with four players notching double-doubles: De’Andre Hunter scored a game-high 24 points, Jalen Johnson contributed 21 points and 15 rebounds, Onyeka Okongwu added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Clint Capela chipped in 11 points and 13 boards.
The Hawks’ comeback was fueled by a dominant third quarter in which they outscored New York 34-18, including a decisive 29-10 run to close the period. Young exploded for 12 points and five assists in the quarter, directly contributing to 23 of Atlanta’s 34 points.
“We knew what the stakes were coming into this game,” Young said postgame. “We needed everybody to step up, and everybody did. That’s why we got this win.”
Atlanta’s defense stifled the Knicks in the second half, holding them to just 46 points — the second-fewest by New York in a half this season. While Karl-Anthony Towns extended his double-double streak to 14 games with 19 points and 19 rebounds, Atlanta’s depth proved decisive. The Hawks’ bench outscored New York’s 43-14, continuing their recent trend of dominance.
The Hawks now boast a 7-1 record in their last eight games as they head to the semifinals.

Their joy follows the Timberwolves star’s 98-90 comeback victory in Game 7 over the reigning champion Denver Nuggets. The T-Wolves are now advancing him to Towns’ first conference finals. Jordyn Woods even previewed a new song that is dedicated to her man.
“4 years with my Bestfriend. here’s a snippet of a song I wrote for him ,” wrote Woods on IG along with a video of the couple’s many outings together throughout their relationship. The unpublished song “Be With You” was utilized for the video, although it’s unclear when the singer would release the full-length version. Karl Towns is about to face off against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, but first, he and his girlfriend Jordyn Woods had to show some serious love to one another.
The pair were reportedly originally acquainted by a common acquaintance a number of years ago, but it wasn’t until May 2020 that their friendship took a romantic turn. “Me and Jordyn met years ago knowing common people and just became friends,” Woods said per People. “And ever since then, our relationship grew where we became more than friends. I’m not saying in that way, but just best friends. And then we started having a deeper relationship.” In September, they officially launched their Instagram account by sharing a number of pictures of themselves taken on the beach.
Karl-Anthony Towns balled out against the defending champion Denver Nuggets. He helped secure his team a spot in the Western Conference Finals, with Jordyn Woods there to support along the way. Jordyn said of his accomplishment on Instagram, “He has overcome so much adversity to get to the point in his career, let alone knee surgery earlier this season,” she continued. “I am so proud and in awe of him. This is your moment! .” Overall, its a beautiful love story between KAT and Woods.
The NBA has declared Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves recipient of the 2023-24 NBA Social Justice Champion award, honoring his unwavering commitment to social justice causes. Towns emerged victorious from five finalists for his advocacy work advancing equality, respect, and inclusion.
Towns played a pivotal role in the passage of Minnesota’s Restore the Vote bill, H.F. 28, which reinstated voting rights for thousands of formerly incarcerated individuals. His leadership within the Timberwolves organization and the community helped shine a spotlight on restoring voting rights and addressing disparities within the criminal justice system.
Furthermore, Towns has actively raised awareness for critical issues in the justice and education systems. He served as a producer for the documentary “Forgiving Johnny,” which explores the impact of digital transformation on the legal system. Additionally, Towns supported Ava DuVernay’s film “Origin” and encouraged youth engagement with banned books.
As a board member of the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition, Towns continues to leverage his platform to drive positive change and advocate for policies that promote social justice.
“Karl-Anthony Towns has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing social justice through his tremendous advocacy work not only this past year, but throughout his whole career,” said Mark Tatum, NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer. “Whether it was the passage of the Restore the Vote legislation in Minnesota, his ‘Forgiving Johnny’ documentary or continued work with the Coalition, Karl’s efforts have made a true impact on the lives of thousands in Minnesota and beyond.”
The award, named after NBA Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, was determined by a selection committee comprising prominent social justice leaders and NBA officials, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Towns’ dedication to social justice and his efforts to effect meaningful change exemplify the values of equality and inclusion upheld by the NBA community.
Karl-Anthony Edwards had high praise for his teammate Anthony Edwards this week, telling ESPN that he believed that Edwards was set to become the “next face of the NBA.” Edwards, drafted first overall in 2020, is putting up 26.3/5.2/5.3 this season as the Timberwolves dominate the Western Conference. Towns, for his part, is averaging 22.5/8.4/2.9 a game as part of the white-hot Minnesota starting five. At the time of writing, Minnesota are 39-16. Despite this, they are locked in a tight battle with the Thunder at the top of the Western Conference standings.
“It brings a smile to all of our faces. He’s one of the top players in the NBA right now. And when you mix that in with his charisma and the personality he has, that’s a huge boost,” Towns explained on First Take. Edwards is coming off the second All-Star nod of his career and is only going to get better as he continues to improve.
Of course, not everyone is a fan of Edwards. Last month, Anthony Edwards was fined $40K for his derogatory comments aimed at the officiating crew present for the Timberwolves’ win against the Thunder earlier this week. The NBA levied the fine at the young star for “repeatedly publicly criticizing the officiating”. Edwards clearly expected it, saying that he was going to “take the fine” as he went after the refs. Despite the win, Edwards said like Wolves were playing “8-on-5” due to the lack of calls going the team’s way.
However, it’s not the first time that the NBA has gone after Edwards. Last year, he was fined $50K for throwing a chair courtside after the Wolves’ playoff elimination at the hands of the Nuggets. Despite the hefty fine, Edwards did not miss any games due to the incident. A number of staffers unsuccessfully sued Edwards over the incident, claiming to have been injured during the incident. The case was dismissed before going to trial.
Karl Anthony Towns dropped 62 points in a loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Monday Night (Jan. 22). In the postgame press conference, Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch didn’t care about the 62 points, pointing out an “absolutely disgusting performance of defense and immature basketball.”
According to ESPN, Finch believes the Wolves stopped making the right play to feed the ball to Towns, who had a great start. Towns finished 21-for-35 from the floor and 10-for-15 from three but went cold in the fourth quarter with a 2-for-10 showing that landed him on the bench.
“I mean there’s lots of times when, just because you’ve scored two or three or four points in a row, or baskets in a row … you know obviously we’re going to try to feed a hot hand, look for a hot hand, but at some point we got to get back to making the right play, we got to get back to doing the right things,” Finch said.
Towns added, “Having a night like that on a loss doesn’t feel very good or historic.”

Jordyn Woods surprised her partner, the NBA’s Karl-Anthony Towns, with some serious drip for his 28th birthday. Woods showed off the gifts on social media – name a new set of chains and a diamond-encrusted ring. Designed by Tim Da Jeweler, the ring features 15.4 cts of VVS1/VVS2 diamonds, while the pendant is 14K rose gold with 37.5 cts of VVS1/VVS2 diamonds. Both are shaped like the number 32, a nod to Woods’ jersey for the Timberwolves.
Woods and Towns first linked up in 2020 and have expressed how happy they are together on multiple occasions. “We love gift giving and … What is it? The love language? The love language is quality time. We love everything. He does so much for me. I do what I can for him. I want to say it’s a lot. So when it’s time to show that appreciation, we like to go all out,” Woods told PEOPLE in a recent interview.
Woods Brought Up By Tristan Thompson On The Kardashians
However, her birthday gift for Towns isn’t the only reason people are talking about Woods today. The most recent episode of The Kardashians also saw Tristan Thompson mention her as he apologized to Kylie Jenner about his past infidelities. “I feel — it really bothers me because it’s like, we’ve always had such a dope relationship, and then I feel like everyone got affected differently, you know? But I think you were affected the most. By a situation with losing a sister basically, you know. Like, you lost Jordyn, who’s a big part of your life. The fact that I came with my poor decisions and being a f-cking idiot and just being young and stupid, I just want to say I’m sorry again for that. Just because life is so short, and it sucks because even though we made our mistakes, sometimes it’s hard to come back from situations like that,” Thompson said.
In respond, Jenner used the moment to hold Thompson accountable. “You do some dumb a– sh-t. Why Tristan? Why? I think you have such a good heart and good energy and, like, to know you is to love you… [so] it is confusing because some of the sh-t you do is f-cking crazy,” Jenner shot back. Furthermore, it’s unclear if Thompson also plans to apologize to Khloe in a later episode as he continues his redemption tour on the show.
Karl-Anthony Towns has a lot going on this upcoming NBA season. Overall, Towns is someone who is always tasked with leading the Timberwolves. Regardless of how hard it has gotten, Towns has remained loyal to the franchise. At this point in his career, he is one of the best bigs in the league, and it will be interesting to see how he does this year. However, basketball is only just one facet of his life right now. For instance, he is currently dating none other than Jordyn Woods, who is known for her Kardashian association.
Towns started dating Woods around the time he lost his mother and other family members to COVID-19. Woods has been a huge part of his support system, and there is no doubt that he is grateful to have her. This season, Woods will certainly be spending some time in Minnesota to watch her man. Moreover, it just so happens that she is celebrating a birthday, very soon. The two were out on the town to commemorate the occasion, and it seems as though KAT knew just what to get her.
In the Instagram post above, you can see Woods holding what appears to be a gorgeous Birkin bag. Birkin bags continue to be all the rage these days, and the smile on her face speaks to the happiness such an accessory brings. Although some may find that cringe, there are those out there who believe receiving a gift is the best thing ever. Overall, these two seem to know what the other likes. Once upon a time, a quick foray into the glamorous world of the Kardashian-Jenners would lead to a sighting of Jordyn Woods. Whether it was on the popular reality shows chronicling their lives or on Instagram, Jordyn Woods became a de-facto Kardashian-Jenner. This was due to her relationship with her once-childhood best friend, Kylie Jenner. Although fans thought the two would remain inseparable for decades, an infamous scandal saw their relationship come to a shockingly abrupt end.
In February 2019, Jordyn Woods was spotted being kissed by Tristan Thompson, who was dating Khloé Kardashian at the time. While the scandal left Woods ostracized from her best friend and the added family she once knew, she landed on her own two feet. In a unique turn of events, Woods’ familial connections proved a game changer for the socialite. Today, Jordyn Woods is thriving in her own lane. She brilliantly avoided the infamous “Kardashian Curse” of fading into oblivion after being cast out by their clan.
The Immediate Aftermath Of The Scandal
The internet went aflame after news broke that Thompson and Woods were seen locking lips at a party. Jordyn, who was 21 at the time, was grossly defended by many. However, Thompson was berated for yet another cheating allegation. It didn’t take long before Woods packed her bags out of Jenner’s home and wished the Kardashians farewell. While fans of the Kardashians were quick to “cancel” Woods, she had a much-needed ace up her sleeve.
Jordyn Woods Appears On Red Table Talk
The Kardashians weren’t the only high-profile clan Jordyn Woods would call family. Her father worked behind the scenes on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and as a result, became close to Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Woods was invited to share her side of the story at the height of Red Table Talk‘s success. This ultimately marked a shift, prompting Woods to be declared free of the “Kardashian Curse.”
Jordyn gained a hoard of supporters through her connection to the Smiths, promptly angering Khloé. Midway through the interview, Khloé received immense backlash after tweeting that Jordyn was “the reason my family broke up!” Commenters quickly rushed to Woods’ aid, charging Khloé to target her man, who had a history of cheating. By sharing her story first, and to over seven million watchers, Jordyn Woods was able to triumph over the mess. Keeping Up With The Kardashians didn’t air until several months after the news had died down. Thus, fewer people were interested in the family’s side by that point.
Jordyn Woods Finding Herself
In an interview with Teen Vogue in August 2019, months after the incident, Woods revealed that she had begun to heal. When asked if she and Kylie had “broken up,” she stated, “What I’d ask is, ‘Does anything really end? Or is it a cycle?’” A member of Hollywood’s elite herself, Woods became associated with a host of new friends, including rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Jordyn Woods has always been open about her struggle in the past to accept her body type. She eventually released a size-inclusive range of clothes in collaboration with Boohoo. Furthermore, she unveiled the fashion label Secndnture and also collaborated with Pretty Little Thing. Earlier in 2023, she launched the clothing line Woods By Jordyn. Beyond these clothing ventures, she’s also created hair extensions, lash lines, and workout apparel.
