Kanye West Apologizes To Kim Kardashian For ‘Any Stress’ He Has Caused

In recent years, there has been a lot of tension between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian for various reasons, whether it’s related to their children or Pete Davidson or something else. Now, Ye is owning up to it in a new Good Morning America interview today (September 22).

The conversation is set to air this morning and in an advance teaser clip, West says of Kardashian, “This is the mother of my children and I apologize for any stress that I have caused.”

The tweet sharing the video also promises the interview will see Ye touch on “Kim Kardashian, fatherhood, social media, fashion, politics, and the Donda Academy.”

In another advance clip, West was asked if he feels social media is more “hurtful or beneficial” and he responded, “Oh, that’s one of my favorite questions this interview. I mean, we can use a car to rush somebody to the hospital, or we could use a car and accidentally hit somebody while we’re rushing somebody to the hospital, so it’s all in how we use it.”

The interview is set to air this morning on Good Morning America and later today on ABC News Live and Nightline. In the meantime,

Kanye West’s Yeezy Shades: How To Get The New ‘YZYSHDZ’

Despite all of the recent reading-related drama and setbacks with Adidas and GAP, Kanye West is pushing onward. The Chicago rapper’s latest fashion offering YZYSHDZ comes in the form of a futuristic-looking pair of shades.

Those interested in purchasing the shiny, almost aluminum-looking spectacles can do so via his website here. Interested customers are asked to enter their email addresses in order to join the waitlist.

Though the website shows the shades on a mannequin, several celebrities have already been given their pairs early. An Instagram page by the name of @yzyshdz is loaded with iMessage screenshots with photos of celebrities, such as Kaash Paige, Simran Randhawa, Ice Spice, Fivio Foreign, Foushee, Anna Wintour, Coi Leray, Karl-Anthony Towns, Jeleel and many more all sporting their pairs. Notably, there is even a photo with a pair of shades photoshopped onto the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Given the optics of the shades, it’s unclear whether those wearing them are actually able to see through them. In any event, they do have a cool look and are only the latest in West’s many unique fashion endeavors.

Levar Burton Shared A Thoughtful Response To Kanye West’s Claim That He’s Never ‘Read A Book’

If there was anyone who should be considered the “perfect” person to respond to Kanye West’s recently resurfaced opinions about reading, it’s Levar Burton. The beloved actor hosted the PBS Kids educational television series Reading Rainbow for more than 23 years from 1983 to 2006 and is pretty much the biggest advocate for reading and literacy there is. Upon seeing a headline touting Kanye’s claim to be repulsed by literature and comparison of books to brussels sprouts, Burton issued an empathetic and thoughtful response that nonetheless conveyed his disappointment in Kanye’s statements.

“I’m going have to take Mr. West at his word,” he wrote on Twitter. “I hope however, that he shares a different message with the children enrolled in the school he’s founded named after his mother, who was an professor of English. I’m fairly certain she read a book or two.”

He is, of course, referring to the recently launched and already controversial Donda Academy, which allegedly has parents sign NDAs while touting an advanced course of study for its hundred or so students. However, considering Kanye’s frankly half-assed approach to practically every other business venture he’s embarked on for the past six years, hopes aren’t high for the private school. It’s not even accredited yet.

Kanye recently reiterated his “proud non-reader of books” status on the podcast Alo Mind Full after being recommended a book by its host. “When you said ‘I hadn’t read this book,’ I actually haven’t read any book,” he asserted. ““Reading is like eating brussel sprouts for me. And talking is like getting the Giorgio Baldi corn ravioli.”

Ye Refutes Claims That He Is Selling His Music Catalog

Kanye West Says He Doesn't Read Books, Says It's Just Like Eating Brussell Sprouts

Yesterday it was reported that Kanye was looking for potential buyers to but his music catalog for a record $175 million, 35x the $5 million he makes off of his music annually. However, this seems to be fake news as Kanye has refuted claims that he is selling his extensive catalog.

Ye took to his IG stories earlier this morning where he shared the message, “Just like Taylor Swift… My publishing is being put up for sale without my knowledge … Not for sale,” referring to Swift’s former manager Scooter Braun who sold her masters.

Ye then shared text messages asking an unknown person to contact his former manager, Gee Roberson, to see what exactly was going on.

“From Gee … Fake news … Of course every publisher wants to pitch [their] hardest to buy. SMH.”

Billboard had reported yesterday that Kanye and his team had been quietly meeting with potential buyers over the last year to estimate a value for his music catalog. It was said that Ye makes $5 million annually from his catalog and is looking for a 35x gross profit, putting the selling price at $175 million.

News of Kanye refuting claims of wanting to sell his catalog comes after a number of artists have been selling their catalog for more than what they would continue to make from it just off of publishing and royalties. Chuck D recently sold a portion of his publishing rights, a few years ago, a company bought the rights to Timbaland’s music, and recently, Justin Timberlake sold his catalog.

However, unlike many artists who have sold their catalog, Kanye is very much still musically active and still turns out hits, making it harder to value his music.

Kanye West Says Sony Is Trying To Sell His Publishing Without His Permission: ‘JUST LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT’

Earlier this week, Billboard reported that representatives for Kanye West had been shopping his publishing catalog to potential buyers, hoping to join the growing trend of artists selling highly coveted and massively profitable publishing rights. However, upon catching wind of the article, the irascible producer adamantly refuted claims that these inquiries had been made on his behalf in the usual Kanye West way.

Posting on his Instagram Story, Kanye wrote: “JUST LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT, MY PUBLISHING IS BEING PUT UP FOR SALE WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. NOT FOR SALE.” In another slide, he shared a screenshot of a text exchange with someone, asking them to check with Gee Roberson, former VP of A&R at Roc-A-Fella Records and current Co-CEO of The Blueprint Group management company. In response, Gee allegedly replied, “Fake news. Of course, every publisher wants to pitch there [sic] hardest buy. Smh.”

Over the past few years, Kanye has grown increasingly vocal about his displeasure with his label situation. In 2021, he claimed the label released his album Donda without his permission, and throughout the past few years, he has taken legal actions against EMI and Universal while arguing that contract terms should be made public (of course, this backfired on him a bit when he posted his own contract revisions, one page at a time, on Twitter, revealing that he might be his own worst enemy in this regard).

Other artists who’ve sold their publishing catalogs include Bob Dylan, Future, John Legend, and Sting. However, sale of Kanye’s catalog may be more complex, as ownership appears to be split among several entities including Sony Music Publishing and his latter-day output contains dozens of collaborators. Meanwhile, the report says sources are conflicted about whether the rights have actually been offered or whether music asset buyers are just expressing interest in purchasing it.

Kanye West Joins TikTok Despite His Rich History Of Issues With The Platform

Kanye West has an interesting relationship with social media. He often uses it as a tool for his feuds, and sometimes he’ll just wipe his profiles clean or take them offline altogether; His Instagram account currently has no posts. Now, though, he has broadened his online reach by joining TikTok.

Ye’s account went live yesterday and he shared his first video, a near-three-minute clip filmed from the passenger seat of a moving vehicle, fixed on the stereo playing parts of his 2019 album Jesus Is King. The clip has so far racked up over 800,000 plays and 200,000 likes, while West himself has over 260,000 followers (and 0 accounts followed).

West’s new TikTok account is especially interesting given the problems he has had with the platform in the past. Back in August 2020, for example, he tweeted, “A vision just came to me… Jesus tok. I was watching tik tok with my daughter and as a Christian father I was disturbed by a lot of the content but I completely loved the technology.” Earlier this year, he also expressed his discontent with his daughter North using the platform, saying in an interview, “Tell [Kim Kardashian] don’t have my daughter wearing lipstick on TikTok and don’t have her on TikTok at all if I don’t approve that.”

Kanye West Reportedly Looking To Sell Music Catalog For $175 Million

Future Brings out Kanye West as a Surprise at Rolling Loud California

Kanye is looking to make some serious money moves in the next year.

According to Billboard, over the last year, Kanye and his team have been quietly meeting with prospective buyers to explore what type of valuation his catalog goes for. As for how much Kanye makes a year off of his catalog, that number is $5 million.

However, a set price for his catalog has not been set yet, and sources tell Billboard that Ye is looking to get 35x gross profit for his catalog. To encourage buyers, whoever purchases West’s catalog would have the opportunity to sign a go-forward publishing deal with Ye.

It is reported that Ye’s catalog generates $13.25 million in publishing royalties annually. However, it is hard to determine West’s exact valuation because the albums in the later part of his career can have 10-24 songwriters per song. Billboard estimates that in his first 4 albums, Kanye has a 35% share of his albums and in his last 6 it drops to 20%. With the $5 million that Ye’s catalog generates for him annually, multiplied by the 35x profit he is looking to get off of his catalog, puts the asking price at $175 million.

While West and his team are currently looking for a buyer, some might be apprehensive to spend almost $200 million on his catalog for a myriad of reasons. Billboard reports that many of his songs are still hit songs and the revenue from these songs will most likely decay over time. Also, West’s songwriter splits are still being disputed and it is unsure what his split will be after it has been disputed. Lastly, West’s own behavior makes it difficult for some who are not in favor of him to want to buy his catalog.
