The year is almost half over, and we are still reeling from last year’s various delays to Hollywood’s release schedules. One of the more highly anticipated projects is Jordan Peele’s next flick after the success of his 2022 horror movie NOPE, which not only helped shuffle in a new appreciation for The Scorpion King, but also helped validate Peele’s role as the next great horror director. Unfortunately, we will have to wait a little longer until we get another spooky adventure.

Peele is set to direct his currently untitled fourth film, which is now scheduled for an October 23, 2026 release date. The director announced the new date on his Instagram:

Universal Pictures had previously planned a December 2024 release, though that clearly isn’t on the calendar anymore. In fact, we don’t even know what the movie is about–all we have is the date, which is over two years out.

In January, Peele spoke with Conan O’Brien about his next project, which had been delayed for several reasons. He explained, “It’s been an interesting year because the writer’s strike had had me in a state of listening, and that’s where I need to be,” the writer/director said on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast when asked about any upcoming projects.

He did share one tidbit: “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right.” Hopefully, he feels like he’s had enough time to make it right.

Their script made it to the prestigious Black List, a collection of the most-liked unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. Moreover, with such a pedigree, the story is expected to be rich, layered, and compelling, fitting perfectly into the psychological horror genre that Peele excels in.

‘Get Out’ Director Jordan Peele’s Next Big Horror Film Pushed Back by Universal

'Get Out' Director Jordan Peele’s Next Big Horror Film Pushed Back by Universal

It looks like fans of the Get Out Director, Jordan Peele, will be on pins and needles before his next horror movie on the big screen.

As reported by The Wrap, Universal Pictures just pushed back the Academy Award-winning filmmaker’s next movie set for release around Christmas 2024 … Sheesh. Blame the six-month-long WGA strike and subsequent SAF-AFTRA work stoppage for the scheduling shakeup.

Although untitled, this will be Peele’s fourth film of a five-year deal with his Monkeypaw production company.

Nope, Peele’s last film, did fairly well grossing $172.3 million at the box office. ICYMI Nope starred Keke Palmer, alongside Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya and Walking Dead alum, Steven Yeun, headlining a story about horse-wrangling siblings (Palmer and Kaluuya) who try to capture evidence on camera of well, a UFO. With a $68 million, Peele’s biggest of any of his features, he was poised for another big moment with a coveted Christmas season release.

Unless you were under a rock, Peele, took the movie business by storm in 2017 making his directorial debut of the critically acclaimed film, Get Out. The horror hit that had a social commentary undertone grossed a whopping $255 million worldwide against a $4.5 million budget. Get Out garnered four Oscar nominations and Peele, although nominated for Best Director, won the award for Best Original Screenplay.

With all that steam there’s no announced release date, or title for that matter on Peele’s next big splash in the horror genre. Stay tuned.

Kid Cudi Refused To Watch “Get Out” After Being Passed Up For The Lead Role

Kid Cudi has had a few viral spats that lead fans to believe he can hold a bit of a grudge. During a recent Q&A with some fans on Twitter, he revealed yet another time he let something personal get in the way. Cudi has dipped his toes into acting a number of times before. Last year he wrote, composed, and served as a voice actor for Entergalactic an animated Netflix special. He’s also made plenty of on-camera appearances. One of the most notable is his time as Ariana Grande’s boyfriend in another Netflix product Don’t Look Up. He also appeared on the hit HBO show Westworld. During his Q&B though, he told fans about another role he could have stepped into.

That role is the lead in Jordan Peele’s modern classic 2017 film Get Out. A fan asked Cudi “What’s one film role that you wished you were cast in,” and the rapper had a good answer. “I wish I got Get Out. I auditioned and Jordan was impressed and I thought I ate that sh*t up,” he explains. Not getting the role must have stung, because he didn’t see the film for over a year after it came out. “I was so salty i didnt get it that I didnt even go see it in the theater when it was poppin. I watched it a year later at home pissed about that,” he explained. Check out his full statement below.

Kid Cudi Held A Grudge Against “Get Out”

Thankfully, it doesn’t seem like Cudi’s grudge lasted too long and he ends his tweet giving credit to the film the way it ultimately ended up. “I was sick haha but to be real, Daniel was the best choice hes a master and did a phenominal job,” he ended his statement.

Cudi has shifted his focus back to music this year. Even though his album INSANO was delayed from its originally announced date, he did drop two new singles. “ILL WHAT I BLEED” and “MOST AIN’T DENNIS” hit streaming last week shortly after the announcement of the project’s delay. Jordan Peele Movies and TV: Unpacking the Vision

Jordan Peele is a multi-talented actor and director who became a star in both the comedy and horror genres. He is a visionary filmmaker who brings a fresh perspective to whatever he creates. His horror films not only scare audiences, but they also confront issues such as racism and inequality head-on.

Peele is equally talented as an actor, having honed his craft on shows like MADtv and Key & Peele. His unique voice and perspective have earned him numerous awards and nominations. These days, he continues to be a significant driving force in Hollywood.

Peele’s Start in TV

Peele got his start in the entertainment industry as part of the cast of the sketch comedy show MADtv in 2003. The show helped him gain recognition in the entertainment industry as a talented comedian and impressionist. He quickly became known for his spot-on impersonations of celebrities like Barack Obama, Morgan Freeman, and Samuel L. Jackson. His work on the show allowed him to write and produce comedy content, further showcasing his versatility and creativity.

The Success of Key&Peele

Peele joined forces with fellow comedian Keegan-Michael Key to create their own sketch comedy series, Key & Peele, which aired on Comedy Central from 2012 to 2015. The show received immense critical and commercial success through its sharp writing and subversive humor.

The sketches tackled a wide range of social issues, from race and gender to politics and pop culture, often delivering a fresh perspective on topics rarely discussed in mainstream media. The show’s popularity also helped to elevate Peele’s profile in Hollywood and paved the way for his transition into directing.

Creation of MonkeyPaw Productions

Peele’s production company, MonkeyPaw Productions, was founded in 2012 with the goal of creating genre-bending content that challenges traditional Hollywood norms. Peele wanted to provide a platform for underrepresented voices in the entertainment industry and promote diversity both on and off-screen.

One of the inspirations for the company’s name came from the classic horror show The Twilight Zone, which featured an episode titled “The Monkey’s Paw.” Peele’s love of horror and the macabre is evident in many of the projects produced by Monkeypaw, such as the hit horror film Get Out.

Peele’s Directorial Debut

Peele made his movie directorial debut with Get Out in 2017, a critical and commercial success that ushered in a new era of horror movies. The film tackled issues of racism and identity in a unique and unsettling way, and critics praised Peele’s direction for its clever use of horror tropes to explore deeper themes. The success of Get Out cemented Peele’s reputation in the horror genre. In 2018, The film won Peele an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

The Reboot of The Twilight Zone

Jordan Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone was a highly anticipated project that premiered in 2019. Peele’s vision for the show differed from the original, specifically due to the emphasis on social commentary and further exploring contemporary issues. Each episode tackled a different theme or topic, ranging from police brutality to technology addiction. Jordan intended to challenge viewers to think critically about the world around them.

Peele’s involvement in the show went beyond just executive producing. He also served as the show’s host and narrator, providing a chilling introduction to each episode. He even provided the voice for the iconic phrase, “You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind.

The Success of Us

Peele has continued to produce and direct critically acclaimed films and TV shows, including Us. The 2019 horror film, written and directed by Jordan Peele, stars Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and Elisabeth Moss. The movie follows a family confronted by their doppelgängers while on vacation.

Peele’s attention to detail and ability to weave social commentary into his horror films is on full display in Us.  In addition to the gripping plot, strong performances, and thought-provoking themes, Peele’s use of music, particularly the use of the classic hip-hop track “I Got 5 on It,” has been widely praised as an ingenious way to build tension throughout the film.

Peele’s Sci-Fi/Horror Hit, Nope

In July 2022, Peele released his next horror film, Nope. In Nope, horse wrangler/trainer Otis “OJ” Haywood Jr  (Daniel Kaluuya) tries to dodge the deadly attentions of whatever phenomenon is lurking in the sky, terrorizing his California ranch. Even though the Oscars snubbed Nope, its surreal sci-fi /horror extravaganza highlighted Peele’s ability to balance nuanced details.

Coming Soon For Peele

Next up for Peele is a horror thriller from Monkey Paw, which will arrive on Sept. 27, 2024. Additionally, Peele and Universal are releasing an untitled fourth film directed by the Oscar winner arriving on Dec. 25, 2024.

Peele’s Continuous Impact

Jordan Peele continues to be an ambitious and enterprising force in Hollywood through his innovative filmmaking approach and commitment to telling stories that push boundaries. His passion for tackling issues such as race, identity, and social justice guarantees that Jordan Peele will further cement his status as one of the most exciting voices in Hollywood today.

Donald Glover Says Jordan Peele Convinced Liam Neeson To Appear In “Atlanta”

Atlanta got progressively weirder as the series progressed. It certainly isn’t a bad thing but it also created some polarizing moments. There was Kevin Samuels’ posthumous appearance that led to a significant backlash, though Donald Glover’s brother and show co-creator, Stephen Glover, said that they weren’t aware of his controversial takes. However, it felt a bit hard to believe that statement after Liam Neeson’s appearance in, “New Jazz.” During the episode, he apologized for the racist 2019 comments he made as a fictionalized version of himself.

The scene nearly didn’t go down, according to Donald Glover. “When I got in touch with him, Liam poured his heart out,” Glover told GQ. “He was like, ‘I am embarrassed. I don’t know about this. I’m trying to get away from that.’ And I was like, ‘Man, I’m telling you, this will be funny! And you’ll actually get a lot of cream from it because it’ll show you’re sorry’…So, he asked me to let him think about it. Then he sent me an email saying, ‘I don’t think I can do it and best of luck with Atlanta, blah-blah-blah.’”

Jordan Peele Helps Secure Liam Neeson Cameo

Glover recalled Neeson saying that he spoke to Morgan Freeman, Spike Lee, and Jordan Peele after the incident. “I hit Jordan Peele up and I was like, Look, man, I got this idea. He said that he trusted you. Tell him it’s a good idea!…Jordan thought it was hilarious! So Jordan talked to him. Liam hit me back and said he talked to Jordan and his son and thought it’d actually be a good thing,” Glover recalled.

However, Donald Glover didn’t inform Peele that the Gangs Of New York actor agreed to appear in Atlanta. Ultimately, the Get Out director believed that Glover pranked him into forgiving Neeson. “But what was so funny is, like, I forgot to hit Jordan back,” Glover continued. I was so excited about Liam doing it. So Jordan hit a friend of mine, and was like, ‘Am I on a prank show where Donald got me to forgive Liam Neeson? Was this a joke…on me?’”

Jordan Peele Readies New Film For Christmas 2024 Takeover

We’re unsure if you’ve projected plans for Christmas season 2024, but Jordan Peele is mapping out a takeover. The comedy giant-turned-horror filmmaker’s movies have been one blockbuster after another. His career is a case study in successful crossover appeal, and fans worldwide have been amazed by his productions. According to Variety, Peele is readying a new film to bulk up his growing résumé of titillating thrillers.

It seems that Universal Pictures slyly released minimal information about Peele’s next hit. The director has a habit of being enigmatic when teasing his releases. While others opt to share information about the cast and production credits far out to gain buzz about a project, Peele does the complete opposite. He doesn’t tell much of anything about his films until their rollout press season, and he’s done just that with his Holiday 2024 feature. Universal Pictures helped release Peele’s Get Out, Us, and last year’s Nope, and they’ve added Untitled Fourth Film Directed by Jordan Peele. It’s slated to hit theaters on December 25.

Jordan Peele Box Office Battle

Christmas Day has been a coveted release date for the movie industry for generations. Massive Hollywood productions often fight it out to see who with reign, and it’s already shaping up to be a battle at the box office. On December 24, 2024, Variety reported that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and James Cameron’s Avatar 3 are both set to premiere. As if that wasn’t enough, Wicked was also set for release that weekend. However, the film adaptation of the famed musical will arrive on Thanksgiving next year.

Additionally, that may not be the only Peele-affiliate feature of 2024. His production company, Monkeypaw, has another film that’s said to hit theaters or streaming services on September 27, 2024. Like his other productions, nothing has been shared about the feature. Yet, fans believe Peele will stick to his horror-thriller-science fiction appeal and continue moving through those genres. He jumped into a new space in 2017 when he released his acclaimed Get Out, starring Daniel Kaluuya. The film placed him on the map of formidable filmmaking contenders, earning four nods from the Academy Awards. Us arrived two years later with Winston Duke and Lupita Nyong’o, and more recently, Nope with Kaluuya and Keke Palmer stormed the box office. Are you excited about Peele’s next film?
