Ja Rule Praised Nicki Minaj For Her Career’s Longevity But Deliberately Shaded Every Other ‘Female MCs’ In The Process

Latto may have taken subliminal shots at Nicki Minaj during her set at Coachella, but the “Princess Diana (Remix)” rapper has received love elsewhere. During a sit-down interview with The Shade Room, “Clap Back” rapper Ja Rule had no problem giving his fellow Queens native her flowers.

When asked about his thoughts on the “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” rapper’s impact on hip-hop, he made it clear that “Minaj’s place in hip-hop is [solidified].” However, he didn’t have a problem shading other ‘female MCs’ in the process.

“No female MCs out and about before Nicki came out. Before her, the last one was like, Lauryn Hill. And then before her, it was, like, Queen Latifah and Salt-N-Pepa and artists like this, MC Lyte,” said the rapper.

Rule doubled down on his statement, adding, “The female MCs they’re having a run like they’ve never had before, and to me, in my opinion, I would say Nicki re-opened that door.”

In the video’s comment section, fans called Ja Rule out for leaving out other women rappers like Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Missy Elliott, Eve, and Trina, to name a few.

But Minaj’s fans came to his defense, writing, “She’s had an amazing career in rap that the other ladies don’t,” continuing, “That’s commendable and needs to be studied.”

Ja Rule Clarifies Relationship With 50 Cent

The beef between Ja Rule and 50 Cent has been going on for more than 20 years. The rappers have gone at each other’s throats in more ways than one. Sometimes, they dropped diss tracks. Other times, they straight up stabbed each other. As violent as their history is, the feud has certainly been a big source of entertainment for many that have followed it. In recent years, the pair seem to have become less serious about the once-violent beef. Now, it appears that Ja Rule is over it completely.

In a new interview with The Shade Room, Ja Rule tells the world how he really feels about 50 Cent. The rapper looks cool and collected as he is interviewed about his once archnemesis. “Is there a world where 50 Cent and Ja Rule call a truce?” the interviewer asks. Ja Rule clearly doesn’t take the question very seriously, choosing to poke fun at the situation. “If 50 Cent was to walk in here right now, what do you think is gonna happen?” he asks playfully. The interviewer responds, saying that she doesn’t really think anything would happen. This prompts an exaggerated reaction from Ja Rule. “Exactly!” he exclaims loudly. This is a very different tune than the two were singing just a few years ago.

Ja Rule and 50’s Beef Spans Decades

The long-standing feud between 50 Cent and Ja Rule is the stuff of legend. It has spanned over two decades, characterized by violence, insults, and trolling. It began with a robbery involving Ja Rule, where 50 Cent’s associate was responsible for stealing the rapper’s chain. This led to altercations at nightclubs and the exchange of diss tracks. Years later, when the two ended up sitting next to each other on a plane, it seemed there might be peace. However, the feud reignited in 2018 when 50 Cent pulled a prank by buying tickets and leaving empty seats at Ja Rule’s show.

Although the feud has taken a more lighthearted tone in recent years, mostly consisting of trolling and social media banter, it has a history of hostility and rivalry. It originated from the robbery and escalated into fights, diss tracks, and even a stabbing. Despite occasional attempts at reconciliation, the feud persists due to personal differences and competition between the two artists. 50 Cent has made it clear that he sees no end to the beef, keeping the feud alive in the public eye. It would seem that Ja Rule disagrees, however. What do you think about his comments on the current state of the feud? Let us know below!

Ja Rule Not Part Of Fyre Festival II

There’s a fun rabbit hole to be had with scam festivals. The first popular iteration of being sold a dream and receiving a disappointment was the infamous 2014 Tumblr convention, DashCon. However, nothing really blew up as much as Fyre Fest, the 2017 Caribbean island music festival so fraudulent that it was the focus of not one, but two separate documentaries.

Billy McFarland, the frat bro mind behind Fyre Fest, received a six-year prison sentence in 2019 after pleading guilty to a boatload of fraud charges. He was released in early 2022 and this year, went on a media apology tour. But now it looks like Billy’s back because, on April 9, he announced Fyre Fest II.

“I Don’t Know Nothing About It”

So before we get to whether Ja Rule is involved again, we have to ask a question. Is Billy McFarland throwing another Fyre Festival to make the money to pay back the people he owes from the first Fyre Festival? As part of his court sentence, McFarland was ordered to pay back $26 million in fraudulent investments he accepted for Fyre Fest I. On April 12, he even tweeted that he is holding an NYC cookout with Andy King and “all proceeds go to people who are owed”. So there’s that. But then the question has to be asked – why? The first Fyre Fest wasn’t a festival gone wrong, like DashCon. It was literally a scam. There was no Fyre Fest to sequel. It was basically a prototype of Squid Game. And yet, Billy is out here once again.

But now for the bit you’re actually here for. Is Ja Rule involved again? As you may remember, Ja Rule was a major player, and purported headline act, for Fyre Fest I. However Ja was eventually dropped from the $100 million lawsuit against McFarland and other Fyre Fest defendants. So is he back? No. According to a report from PEOPLE, Ja was very clear about Fyre Fest II. “I don’t know nothing about it. I ain’t in it!” Ja said. But there you have it, Fyre Fest II is coming to an island paradise near you, and Ja Rule is steering well clear this time.

Billy McFarland Says that Fyre Fest II ‘Is Finally Happening’

Billy McFarland Says that Fyre Fest II ‘Is Finally Happening

If at first you don’t succeed, try again? That seems to be the mantra of Billy McFarland, the organizer of the infamous Fyre Fest music festival that spiraled into chaos and disaster, leaving thousands stranded in the Bahamas for a concert event that never materialized.

However, almost exactly six years to the date that the original Fyre Fest spiraled into disaster, McFarland seems to be ready to give it another go, tweeting his plans for Fyre Fest II and inviting fans to tell him why they should be invited.

Naturally, the responses were every bit as hilarious as expected with some respondents volunteering to bring food and water with others offering their therapy or DJ-ing services. One user gave the response: “Because I’m forklift certified.”

The first Fyre Fest, which was set to happen over two weekends (April 28–30 and May 5–7, 2017) had teased major headliners such as Ja Rule, Blink 182, and Lil Yachty with A-list celebrities such as Kendall Jenner promoting the event on their social media. However, no performances took place and McFarland ended up pleading guilty to two counts of wire fraud charges and serving just over four years of his original six year prison sentence.

While McFarland may be free and planning a comeback event, one thing is likely certain- the event will not be held in the Bahamas again. Aviation Chester Cooper, Bahamas Minister of Tourism, said that the Bahamas will not endorse or approve any event in associated with McFarland, stating that he “is considered to be a fugitive.”

50 Cent Promises To Lift Ja Rule’s Timberwolves ‘Curse’ As His First Order Of Business Now That He’s A Partner Of The Team

To paraphrase the words of “Tomorrow 2” rapper Cardi B, once someone has beef with her, they are going to beef forever. This is a motto that 50 Cent lives by to this day. After visiting the Target Arena to celebrate his spirits company, Sire Spirits, closing a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he couldn’t help but throw in a jab at his longtime rival, Ja Rule.

As the musician walked through the office, he joked with the Timberwolves staff mentioning his foe’s 2019 halftime performance for the team that didn’t garner much crowd participation.

“We had a curse! Somebody f*cked up, and they let Ja Rule perform at halftime,” 50 said before adding, “Now, what we’re gonna do is take the curse off!”

To add insult to injury, in the video uploaded to the rapper’s Instagram page, he took a few creative liberties to insert the clip of Ja’s performance onto one of the T-Wolves staff member’s computer screens including the audio of a joke former pro-athlete and Undisputed sports commentator Shannon Sharpe saying, “Skip, this might be worse than Fyre Festival.”

Once, again, 50 Cent proves that he’s not above taking jabs at anyone.

Ja Rule Thinks Hip-Hop Music May Have Influenced Ja Morant After His Gun Video Led To An NBA Suspension

Recently, Chicago Bulls guard Patrick Beverley said that rap music may have had something to do with a video that surfaced earlier this month and showed Memphis Grizzlies all-star Ja Morant flashing a gun. Beverley said, “I think it’s the music, man. I ain’t bashing the music ’cause I’m listening to that sh*t, too. […] It’s not part of my life. It’s a part of a lot of people I know, though, so I can relate. ‘My homie used to do that, my homie got locked up for doing that, or my homie in jail for doing that or my homie died from doing that.’”

Then, when speaking with Ja Rule, a TMZ interviewer mentioned what Beverley said and asked if there was any validity to it. Rule responded, “I’m sure there is.”

He continued, “Hip-hop is very influential. I’ve done things in my youth because of hip-hop, you know? Redman made “How To Roll A Blunt,” we started smoking blunts! Snoop made “Gin & Juice,” we started drinking gin and juice! So hip-hop is very influential, I’m not going to say it’s not. How far people take it is what it is, but the thing with Ja… I just hope he has better people around him to just let him know that ain’t the way. ‘Go play ball, man. Do you, man. The streets ain’t about nothing, man.’”

Rule concluded, “We all make mistakes, man. I made plenty when I was young. So, it happens. People gotta get up off him right now and let him do his healing process, come back, and ball out.”
