Ja Morant is currently the biggest newsmaker in the entire NBA. Of course, this isn’t exactly a good thing when you consider what the news is. Overall, Morant’s future in the NBA is in a bit of jeopardy. After flashing a gun on social media, Morant has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the Grizzlies. Ultimately, there is no telling when he will return. Moreover, he could very well face some legal repercussions as police in Colorado are investigating his actions. This is all very bad, and the Grizzlies are very concerned about their star.

Subsequently, there have been all sorts of hot takes in relation to Morant. ESPN has certainly been a source of a lot of these takes. Stephen A. Smith, Kendrick Perkins, and a whole host of others have been scolding Morant for his actions. However, there are some people who want to take a more positive approach. One of those people is Richard Jefferson, who was recently approached by TMZ. In the clip down below, it is clear that Jefferson is optimistic about Ja.

“Him and his family are good people,” Jefferson said. “I believe in him. I believe that he’ll kind of turn things on. Boosie BadAzz Slams Skip Bayless For Ja Morant Comments

Boosie BadAzz called out Skip Bayless on Twitter, Monday night, for questioning whether Ja Morant is affiliated with the Crips. The Memphis Grizzlies suspended the All-Star indefinitely for waving a gun during an Instagram Live post over the weekend. Bayless and his Undisputed co-host, Shannon Sharpe, discussed the incident on Monday morning’s episode.

“STOP @RealSkipBayless,” Boosie wrote on Twitter later in the day, “Don’t build the narrative that he’s a real gang member SMH HE NOT NO CRIP‼ HE A PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL PLAYER who made a mistake.” While Morant will miss at least two games, he has since apologized for the live stream, which occurred just after a report from The Washington Post detailed multiple other incidents of violence linked to Morant.

As for Bayless’ comments, he mentioned seeing Morant “throwing up a crip sign.” “So I’ve called around the league to people I’ve known forever, talking about Ja,” Bayless said. “Because I was so shocked by the IG Live, how brazen it was. And I had several people say to me, ‘Well, timeout, are you sure you guys on TV aren’t giving him a pass here, like you’re not that?’ They’re asking me, ‘Are you sure he’s not that?’ Like, that’s just who he is, that he is about that life.’ And remember, he’s thrown up the Crips sign, I’ve seen him throw it up two or three times, I’ve probably missed some other times.”

“What does that mean? Does that mean he wants to associate with the Crips?” Bayless further continued. “Or he got initiated by the Crips? Or he has a dream of being a Crip? I don’t know. I’m just throwing this out–that, are we missing the boat here that that’s just who he’s been from the start and we keep saying, ‘No, you’re just associated with the wrong people,’ when he’s actually part of the wrong people.”

Ja Morant is currently the biggest story in the NBA right now. Overall, this is not a good thing as his newsworthiness has nothing to do with his play on the court. Instead, Morant has been scrutinized for a bevy of headlines that put his judgment into question. Firstly, he was accused of threatening a teenager with a gun. Moreover, he was accused of threatening a mall security guard. The straw that broke the camel’s back, however, was Ja waving a gun around on Instagram Live.

Since that incident, the league has taken some serious action against Morant. He has subsequently been suspended indefinitely, and there is a real fear that he will miss the rest of the season. Moreover, if it was revealed that he brought a gun on the team plane or in the locker room, he may get the Gilbert Arenas treatment. Needless to say, this is a truly horrible look for both Morant and the Grizzlies.

As you can imagine, Twitter has been rushing to make jokes about the situation. Mostly, the internet has been coming up with nicknames for Morant. The first nickname to pop up was “Ja Wick” which is a play on the infamous John Wick character. However, there is another nickname that seems to be sticking out a lot more. In fact, this nickname has been trending on social media over the past day or so. The nickname in question is “Ja Warrant,” which, unfortunately, is a pretty clever rhyme.

In the tweets down below, you can see various fans and NBA Twitter users commenting on the “Ja Warrant” name. Others have been using it in jest, and in some cases, earnest. At the end of the day, this is some of the worst publicity one can get. Overall, it showcases a fall from grace for Morant. Colorado Investigating Ja Morant After Video With Gun in Strip Club Hit IG

Ja Morant Sued for Allegedly Striking a Teenager During Pick-Up Game

Ja Morant is the subject of an investigation in Colorado. The investigation comes after the NBA star posted a Instagram Live video from inside a Denver strip club.

According to ESPN, Morant was in Shotgun Willie’s gentleman club. The club is located in an area called Glendale, which is a small section known for strip clubs and shopping centers.

While Colorado is an open carry state, it has exceptions to the law, including carrying a firearm on federal property. It is also illegal to have a gun while under the influence of alcohol.

NBA rules call for players not to bring firearms on team property or while traveling on a team bus.

Ja Morant is currently away from the team after flashing the gun. What originally started as a two-game removal from Morant, appears to be longer, as Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins provided an update ahead of their matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.

“We have said that it’s going to be at least these two games,” Jenkins said. “I mean, this is going be an ongoing healing process. … It’s really not a timetable situation.”

He added, “We’re taking this very seriously. There’s a supportive element for someone that’s got to get better and needs some help. But then there’s also accountability to the team that we’ve got to stand for.

“Obviously nationwide, leaguewide, there’s been a lot of attention on gun violence, and so for us, that’s the stance that we’ve taken about how we can support Ja throughout this growth opportunity. It’s a learning opportunity, and hopefully we can be better from it.”

Nike has revealed they will stick beside Ja Morant. In case you missed it, Morant is currently away from the team for at least another game after posting an Instagram Story featuring himself shirtless and flashing a gun. It was believed Morant was in a strip club.

Morant released a statement afterward, stating he was seeking help. He would then deactivate his social media.

“I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies’ organization for letting you down,” the statement read. “I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”

“We appreciate Ja’s accountability and that he is taking the time to get the help he needs. We support his prioritization of his well-being,” Nike offered in a statement, according to Shams Charania.

The latest incident comes after Morant has made headlines for other moments of controversial behavior, including punching a 17-year-old before flashing his gun, and threatening a mall security guard with an entourage.

In Colorado, it is illegal to possess a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, reports ESPN.

The ongoing investigations have gained several hot takes from commentators and former basketball stars. Stephen Jackson chimed in with a bit of advice for Morant during this challenging time, especially as people claim his NBA career is over. “Y’all ain’t got no experience with this situation. If you have been paying attention to the NBA as of late, you know that the latest discourse is centered around Ja Morant. Overall, this is due to his recent behavior. Damian Lillard is one of the most respectable and honorable players in the entire NBA. Overall, he has been fantastic over this last decade. He is a huge reason why the Portland Trail Blazers are relevant, and his 71-point performance last week was simply incredible. Although he might not have a title to his name, he is certainly seen as one of the best guards to ever play the game. Except for maybe Steph Curry, he is definitely among the best point guards in the league right now.

However, his cache makes him susceptible to the misinformation train. Now that Ja Morant is in the news, plenty of blogs and parody accounts are trying to profit. That is exactly what happened this weekend as Buttcrack Sports made the claim that Lillard liked a tweet about Morant. The tweet in question claims that Lillard is from the “hood” but never acted as such. However, Morant is from the suburbs but tries to act hard. Liking this tweet would be quite out of character for Lillard, although outlets like No Jumper ultimately got duped.

Eventually, these reports were brought to Lillard’s attention. Although he wasn’t too pressed about all of it, he did clear things up to his fans. “Let em lie. Fuck I look like liking that. I don’t care who is and is not from the ‘trenches,’” he wrote. At the end of the day, Lillard is an honest player who has unquestionable morals.
