Fivio Foreign Arrested On Multiple Charges In New Jersey: Report

New York rapper Fivio Foreign was reportedly arrested and charged with possession of a firearm for unlawful purposes, resisting arrest, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a firearm without the required permit, and more.

The “Big Drip” rapper was reportedly taken into custody after evading the police in New Jersey. Fivi, whose real name is Maxie Ryles III, reportedly left his car running in a no-parking zone as he walked into a Citibank on Wednesday evening. An officer was standing by his car when he returned, which is when the rapper was asked to hand over his driver’s license. Fivio did not comply and simply walked away, according to a report from Daily Voice. The officer stayed with his car while one of his partners caught up to the jaywalking rapper nearby. He allegedly ignored all requests to stop walking away before officer Gabriel Avella grabbed him in a parking garage. At that point, a loaded handgun fell to the ground from Fivio’s waistband.

The weapon, which had a scrubbed-off serial number, was untraceable. It was secured and Fivio was placed in handcuffs. He was charged with possession of a firearm for unlawful purposes without the required permit, possession of a defaced firearm, and resisting arrest.

He is expected to appear in court today.

Check out a breakdown of his charges below and stay tuned for any updates in this case.

YG And Mozzy Form A California Connection In Their ‘Bompton To Oak Park’ Video

Two of California’s most prolific gangsta rap purveyors connect in the video for “Bompton To Oak Park,” as Sacramento’s Mozzy invites Compton’s YG up north for a good, old-fashion gangsta party. Throughout the video, the two rappers proudly rock their colors and throw their respective signs, while rhyming about the virtues and vices of street life in the Golden State.

As yet, “Bompton To Oak Park” doesn’t have an official full-length release attached, but the video for the track has been hotly anticipated among locals since they were glimpsed shooting scenes for it in Mozzy’s hometown. The song marks their eighth collaboration, the most recent ones landing on the two rappers’ respective 2018 releases. First, Mozzy appeared on YG’s Stay Dangerous track “Too Brazy,” then, YG returned the favor on “Thugz Mansion” from Mozzy’s Gangland Landlord.

The two rappers have been busy individually since then, with Mozzy dropping three albums: 2019’s Internal Affairs, and two albums in 2020, Beyond Bulletproof and Occupational Hazard. Mozzy promoted the latter with the single “Death Is Callin.”

Meanwhile, YG completed the terms of his deal with 2019’s 4Real 4Real and 2020’s My Life 4Hunnid, launching his 4Hunnid Records venture with Epic Records and releasing the first compilation, Gang Affiliated, in March this year.

Cordae Gives A Tour Of His Old Neighborhood In The Sentimental ‘More Life’ Video

It’s been nearly six months since Cordae last graced fans with new music, but that all changed Thursday with the release of his four-track EP Just Until, which is meant to hold fans over until his next album’s release. To celebrate the EP’s debut, Cordae went back to his hometown to go to some of the places that shaped his youth in a video to his Q-Tip-featuring track “More Life.”

Throughout the “More Life” visual, Cordae takes a tour of his old neighborhood. He revisits his former apartment and walks through the halls of his old middle school and college, which he dropped out of. All the while, Cordae runs into grateful fans, snaps a few photos, reminisces on the days of his youth, and offers words of advice for staying true to yourself and following your dreams.

The visual concluded with Cordae receiving some wise words from Q-Tip over the phone. “I get the light from you, you get the light from me, we give it to each other and we give it to the world. That’s what it’s supposed to be,” Q-Tip says, to which Cordae replies, “Yeah, that’s some bars.”

YG & Mozzy Unite North & South California On New Song “Bompton To Oak Park”

Mozzy’s manager previously revealed that the Sacramento-based rapper was working on a collaborative album with YG. The exciting team-up would mark a union between North and South California as Bompton meets Oak Park. It seems as though the project could be coming pretty soon because the duo of West Coast rap forces has officially released their first joint video for the new single “Bompton To Oak Park.”

YG and Mozzy put their neighborhoods on the map in this brand new record, unapologetically delivering gritty lyrics over a beat from Jay P Bangz. The street anthem comes alongside a new video, which sees Mozzy and YG in their respective zones, mobbing with their gangs in front of local landmarks.

Watch the video for “Bompton To Oak Park” below and stay tuned for their joint album.

Quotable Lyrics:

Everybody eatin’, catch a body, you gone starve, n***a
Claimin’ everybody, you gone know we was involved, n***a
Pull up in something brazy, push a button, it’s gone start, n***a, yeah
There go them Bompton and Oak Park n***as

Eminem Geeks Out For Redman’s Bars With “Till I Collapse” Throwback

On “Till I Collapse,” a record-setting highlight from the 2002 classic The Eminem Show, Eminem outlined his nine favorite rappers in an implied numerical order. “It goes Reggie, Jay-Z, 2Pac, and Biggie, Andre from OutKast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, and then me,” he rapped, paying homage to his most-respected lyricists.

While it’s entirely possible that his list has altered drastically in the years that followed, Em’s lyrical co-sign of eight heavy hitters has been oft-cited among his most quotable moments. In fact, during Redman’s recent 4/20 Verzuz concert alongside Method Man, he sported a t-shirt reciting the top three names on Em’s list, validating Slim’s position as a connoisseur of the craft.

Only a few days removed from Redman’s major “Till I Collapse” callback on Verzuz, Eminem came through with a rare tweet celebrating the work of his fellow wordsmith. “It goes Reggie…” captions Slim, sharing a snippet of Redman’s recent single “80 Barz” — in case you missed it, listen to the latest from Reggie Noble right here

Though they only collaborated on two occasions in “Off The Wall” (read further analysis on that zany and lyrically-driven duet right here) and the deep cut “I See Dead People,” it has long felt as if a third collaboration was overdue. As evidenced by Em’s latest post, he still holds Redman in the highest regard, unsurprising given how much influence the New Jersey emcee has had on his own artistry. With the public displays of mutual respect at an all-time high, perhaps now is the time for Reggie and Slim Shady to reunite at long last.

Do you think we’re on pace for a new collaboration between Eminem and Redman?

Travis Scott Reflects On Derek Chauvin’s Guilty Conviction: “We Finally Got Justice”

Even though Travis Scott is currently one of the biggest artists in the music industry, he is also steadily giving back to his community. The Astroworld rapper also spearheads The Cactus Jack Foundation, which, to date, has awarded college students with HBCU scholarships and helped feed over a thousand families during Houston’s devastating winter storm earlier this year.

Now, Travis has come forward to reflect on the recent guilty verdict in Derek Chauvin’s trial. In an interview with the Associated PressTravis Scott discusses George Floyd’s tragic passing as well as the unexpected guilty verdict for his murderer. “I mean, we felt that we finally got justice toward some shit that was just very disgusting,” the JACKBOYS artist states.

“You know, for it to take so long to finally catch something like a verdict like this,” he continues, “for the things that happen every day—even during the week of his trial, you’re seeing still it’s continuing—I’m glad that it’s justice for the Floyd family.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Travis also touches on how the country can move forward following Derek Chauvin’s guilty verdict. Like several other celebrities, the Cactus Jack Records founder appreciates the end result in Derek Chauvin’s trial, but he also acknowledges that there’s plenty of more work to do.

“Now we can try to work forward to even just try to stop it, in a mass picture, you get what I’m saying?” Travis says. “Trying to get to the next step where we can halt this attack, you know, whether it’s from the police or any walking person and just try to get to a more balanced spot in the world. Because this shit, it’s just crazy.”
