Oprah Winfrey Didn’t Know Eddie Murphy Portrayed Multiple Characters In “Coming 2 America”

We’ve seen Eddie Murphy tackle multiple roles in a single film, but one of his earliest portrayals of various characters in a movie came courtesy of Coming to America. Long before The Nutty Professor, Murphy played the role of Prince Hakeem and the ornery old men in the barbershop in the 1988 classic, and the actor revisited his roles while speaking with Jimmy Kimmel recently about the sequel, Coming 2 America. It was common knowledge that Murphy wore a bit of makeup to create the illusion that he was, indeed, someone else, but that fact seemed to fly right over Oprah Winfrey’s head as she reportedly didn’t know those characters were the comedian, as well.

“A lot of people don’t know that’s us in those makeups,” said Murphy. “Last week, I was doing the other interview with Oprah and… I said something about the barbershop, and ‘I’m that Jewish man,’ and she was like, ‘What do you mean, you’re the Jewish man?'”

“I said, ‘Oh yeah, I’m the old Jewish guy in the barbershop.’ She was like, ‘What?'” Murphy shared. “She couldn’t believe it. And she’s seen the original Coming to America and [this sequel] and all this time didn’t know.” Check out Murphy’s interview and a behind-the-scenes clip of Murphy making fun of himself as he gets his makeup done to portray the Jewish character, Saul. When you first watched the film, did you know Murphy played multiple roles? Have you checked out the sequel?

DaniLeigh Was Sitting Outside Of Beverly Hills Eatery During Brazen Shooting: Report

It is known more for its luxury shops and celebrity hotspots, not brazen, daytime shootings. Beverly Hills is the well-known stomping ground for the rich and famous, but on Thursday (March 4) afternoon, patrons of Il Pastaio found themselves victims of a robbery. Those who keep up with pop culture are aware of Il Pastaio’s reputation as being a restaurant that celebrities often frequent—making it a paparazzi favorite, as well—and bold gunmen targeted the eatery for a robbery that ended with an injured woman.

It was a regular day in Los Angeles for DaniLeighas she pulled up at Il Pastaio, but before she decided to get out of her car, the three thieves approached the restaurant. The robbery is said to have taken place outside as many L.A. locations are only permitted to allow outdoor dining. During the shakedown, a man was robbed of his $500K Richard Mille watch at gunpoint and a woman was shot in the leg. She was reportedly at a nearby table and was struck as the man fought back against the thieves.

As frightening as the ordeal was, we’re thankful that weren’t any serious injuries or casualties. Tyler Shields, a celebrity photographer, was reportedly at the location during the shooting, as well, and he claimed he “herded a large group of people into a nearby parking garage” for safety.

DaniLeigh has yet to comment on what she may have witnessed. Investigators continue to search for the perpetrators and haven’t released a description of the individuals involved.

Megan Thee Stallion Is Giving Back To Her Hometown With The A ‘Hotties Helping Houston’ Fundraiser

Megan Thee Stallion is taking a moment to help her fellow Houston residents. The rapper’s hometown, along with many other cities in Texas, was slammed by a winter storm last month that results in power outages, boil water advisories and no hot water for many, as well as a senator who tried to skip out on helping for a trip to Cancun.

Hoping to speed up the road to recovery for many Houston residents, Megan has announced the Hotties Helping Houston fundraiser drive. Getting help from NACC Disaster Services and Texas Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, the drive will benefit single mothers and the elderly in the area.

Megan spoke about the drive in a post to her Instagram page. “It is always very important for me to help give back to the city that made me,” she said in the post’s caption. “I just want to say thank you to everyone who came together with me to help rebuild my hometown of Houston Texas.” Some of the names and brands that she mentioned included Maroon 5, Taraji P. Henson, Fashion Nova, her label 300 Entertainment, and Revlon. She also prompted fans to visit her website to find information on how they can help and to buy new merchandise that would see proceeds go directly to NACC’s rebuilding efforts.

You can read the announcement in the post above.

Megan Thee Stallion is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Jhené Aiko Is A Disney Princess In “Lead The Way” Visual From “Raya & The Last Dragon”

As a woman who touts a large half-phoenix, half-dragon tattoo on her back, Jhené Aiko was the perfect fit for the Raya and the Last Dragon soundtrack. The Los Angeles native told Apple Music that she’s a self-described “Disney kid,” so her inclusion in the film’s creative process is a dream come true for the singer. We previously reported on Aiko partnering with Oscar-nominated composer James Newton-Howard for the Raya and the Last Dragon song “Lead The Way,” and now, the songbird returns with a fantastical visual to accompany the single.

“I’ve always had this little fantasy of being a Disney princess, voicing one, or like being the character. And so this was the closest that I’ve gotten, so I was pretty excited,” said Aiko. “The number one thing was I heard dragon, and I love dragons. I have a big dragon tattoo on my back. I was born in ’88, which is the year of the dragon. And I just think it’s a beautiful, mystical creature that is just so many things, symbolizes so many things for me, personally.”

Michelle Obama Is “So Proud” Of Zaya Wade: “Just An Amazing Role Model”

Her tenure as the First Lady may have come to an end, but Michelle Obama remains an inspiration to many. She’s shared her story with the world in the form of a candid memoir, Becoming, and she recently caught up with Dwyane Wade’s daughter and Gabrielle Union’s stepdaughter, Zaya, for a virtual interview. Zaya has made headlines after coming out as transgender at 12-years-old and the Wades have endured backlash from the public. They’ve remained a steadfast unit against the naysayers and Zaya has been thriving over the past year as she grows more comfortable with sharing her journey.

Zaya asked the former First Lady if she had any advice for “teens who want to be themselves and thrive like you have and currently are.” Michelle flipped the script on the 13-year-old and said, “And like you have and currently are.” Obama added, “You know, I am just so proud of you for being just an amazing role model and embracing your truth, right? You’re already doing this, so maybe this is for some other young people that are listening.”

“It does take time to know what ‘yourself’ is for young people,” said Michelle. “So, my first piece of advice is: be patient with yourself, number one. At your age, or in the teenage years and probably through your 20s, you’re gonna be experimenting with so many versions of yourself. All young people are trying on different versions, different voices, they’re learning more about their intellect, they’re learning about what they love, what they’re good at, what they like—this is the period of exploration.”

She added that often, adults put teens under too much pressure to know who they want to be in life, too soon. Michelle said a question she “hated” was, “What are you going to be when you grow up?” She said, “How am I supposed to—I’m thirteen! I’m twelve! You’re not supposed to know yet.” Michelle advised young people “to give yourself space and time to learn and grow.” A good little bit of advice for any age. Check out the clip below.
