DMX’s Posthumous Album Has A Release Date

DMX is one of the most legendary rappers to ever pick up a mic. Just last month, DMX tragically passed away at the age of 50 and since that time, numerous fans and fellow rappers have been issuing tributes to the late star. At the time of his death, X was in the midst of working on a brand new album that he was excited for people to listen to. Following his death, those closest to him got to work in an effort to preserve the integrity of the project.

Now, X’s album will be released later this month on May 28th. The project is called Exodus and it will be entirely executive produced by the likes of Swizz Beatz, who spoke about the new project in a press release.

“My brother X was one of the most pure and rare souls I’ve ever met. He lived his life dedicated to his family and music. Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure,” Swizz said. This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally.”

This is phenomenal news for all of the X fans out there and we have no doubt that Swizz Beatz took good care of this new album. Posthumous releases are always a sensitive topic, but with X, it’s clear that those who were closest to him are involved.

Nicki Minaj Teases Her Comeback

We went one summer without Nicki Minaj blaring through the speakers but we were also in a pandemic. Plus, she just became a first-time mom in October so we could imagine that Nicki was enjoying the beauty of motherhood. She sprinkled a few guest verses here and there but it looks like the Queen is preparing her return to the throne this summer.

Following her first Mother’s Day as a mom, Nicki Minaj is back to work already. The Pink FridayMC brought it back to the essence of the Barbie aesthetic in her pink office with matching pink Crocs, pink Richard Mille watch, and pink heart-shaped pillows covering what appears to be her bare body.

There was little to caption the photo except, “F R I D A Y.” Yung Miami immediately showed praised to the Young Money rapper, tweeting, “Nicki Minaj look good!!!”

Needless to say, Nicki Minaj seems to have something in store for her fans this week — a well-deserved treat after proving their power in numbers on social media and streaming services. Over the weekend, the Barbz got “LLC Party” trending on Twitter which pushed the song into the top 40 on Apple’s iTunes US chart for the first time ever.

Though it’s unclear what Nicki has in store, fans are clearly awaiting her return to the rap game. Check out what fans have to say below.

Nicki Minaj Teases Her Return This Week With A Racy Instagram Post

Nicki Minaj hasn’t released a new project since 2018’s Queen, semi-retiring to focus on starting a family with her husband Kenneth. After giving birth to her son and clearing her Instagram followers, it appears she might finally be ready to take the first steps back into the spotlight — and her latest Instagram post will likely accelerate that sense among fans.

In Nicki’s new post, she poses on a plush pink desk, apparently nude or semi-nude, clutching fuzzy pink heart pillows to her body to keep the Instagram moderators at bay. The caption simply reads, “Friday,” with a fingers-crossed emoji, suggesting that she’s coming out with… something… later this week.

She wouldn’t be the only rap superstar to make her return after taking the last few years off. Isaiah Rashad recently returned with a new single featuring Duke Deuce after a week of teasing by his label, revealing that he’d been battling addiction in the meantime, and J. Cole took some time out of pursuing his hoop dream to drop the interlude from his new album The Off-Season, which also drops this Friday.

And while Nicki has plenty of other side projects going, the timing would be right for her to make a return, as fans eagerly await a release date from her Young Money labelmate Drake, a potential collaboration with Saweetie, and Nicki’s erstwhile rival Cardi B’s next album — which could also feature a reunion between the former foes.

Stay tuned.

Lil Baby And Lil Durk’s Upcoming Joint Project May Have A Release Date

Lil Baby and Lil Durk have been teasing their joint project for weeks and yesterday, it seems they may have revealed when it comes out. Lil Baby posted, then deleted, on Instagram, asking fans, “How does ‘Voice Of The Heroes dropping May 28′ sound?” The post was captured by fan account screenshots before Baby deleted it, leaving us to wonder whether plans changed, the date was meant to be secret, or if this is an elaborate hype-building tactic as part of the long, convoluted rollout for the joint project.

Baby and Durk’s impressive working chemistry stems — at least in the short term — from their collaboration “3 Headed Goat” from Durk’s 2019 album Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. They’ve since released a handful of singles together such as “Finesse Out The Gang Way” from Durk’s 2020 album The Voice and more recently, “Every Chance I Get” from DJ Khaled’s new album, Khaled Khaled.

When fans suggested that they turn that chemistry into a full-length mixtape, they immediately began teasing such a tape with cryptic social media posts, eventually revealing the working title during an interview with MTV News. Intriguingly, they still have yet to release any songs from the project itself, preferring instead to let their established work do the promotion. We’ll see if May 28 turns out to truly be the official release date — for now, it seems fans will have to stay tuned to their social media for more updates.

DJ Khaled, 21 Savage, And Justin Bieber Take Over The LInks In The Gut-Busting ‘Let It Go’ Video

Part of what makes DJ Khaled’s over-the-top motivational speaker schtick so amusing is he’s not afraid to poke fun at himself — he’s in on the joke. That holds true in the new video for “Let It Go” from his recently released album Khaled Khaled. Recruiting 21 Savage and Justin Bieber for a tongue-in-cheek clip that finds the trio fighting alligators and creating a whole new meaning for the term “golf club,” Khaled shows off his sense of humor while promoting everything from his latest project to the Chime financial app and Raising Canes restaurants.

The video’s narrative begins with a simple premise: Khaled and his billionaire buddies hitting the links at Khaled’s own golf course for a friendly round of big-money golf with Bieber playing Khaled’s trusty caddy. When one of Khaled’s playing partners challenges Justin to tee off, Khaled ends up boasting about his ability to find and develop talent when Bieber sinks a hole in one from what looks like 100 yards. Next, the young phenom squares up with 21 Savage, showing off a variety of trick shots before Khaled has to save the day by wrestling an alligator.

The trio then cruises the course in Lamborghini golf carts and has a dance party near the scoreboard. It’s all very silly and fun and exactly what you’d expect from Khaled’s latest joyful rollout, which has included dragons and pirate treasure, post-apocalyptic cityscapes, and a neon-lit casino.

Khaled Khaled is out now. Get it here.

J. Cole Releases “Applying Pressure: The Off-Season” Documentary

At the end of this week, J. Cole will be releasing his brand new album The Off-Season. Fans have been waiting for new music from the North Carolina rapper for months. Judging from how people reacted to his latest single “Interlude,” which was released last week, this could be one of Cole’s greatest projects to date. Bas and Cozz from Dreamville have suggested that much. Folks think that the rapper will outclass himself on this album and it’s already pretty clear that Cole will be headed towards a strong debut on the charts.

As he gears up to release his new album, J. Cole is presently in Rwanda, where he will begin his professional basketball career with the Patriots B.B.C. With the off-season set to finally end for the rapper, all of his fans are excited to see where this next chapter leads the 36-year-old. Over the weekend, he announced that he was coupling his new music with a documentary, giving fans behind-the-scenes access to his life and asserting his dominance on the game. After a short wait, Cole released Applying Pressure: The Off-Season on Monday.

The new documentary is officially out now on YouTube. It was executive produced by J. Cole and his manager Ibrahim Hamad. Applying Pressure was directed by Scott Lazer. Check it out below and let us know your first impressions in the comments. Are you even more excited for The Off-Season now?

Kylie Jenner & Travis Scott Fuel Rumors They’re Back Together (Again)

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott went out to dinner on a “triple date” with their friends and family on Sunday night, reports surfaced this morning. TMZ snapped photos of Travis, the Biebers, and Kendall with her NBA player boyfriend, Devin Booker. While Kylie Jenner wasn’t pictured in the paparazzi shots, TMZ claims to know she was indeed at the dinner.

Recent social media activity has suggested that Kylie and Travis are friends again, at the very least. Kylie posted many videos with Scott at the club for his birthday festivities last weekend. Sources reported that they were flirting, and that they were “very close and affectionate” throughout the night.

Rumors of a reunion have been flying since their breakup, shortly after the birth of their daughter, Stormi. Each time these rumors surface, the pair publicly diffuses them and insists that they are not together. The gossip reignited back in November once more, when the two posed together on Instagram, seemingly as only a couple would.

Platonic or not, the love is obviously still there between the two. For Travis’ birthday, Kylie posted a few photos of him and Stormi on her Instagram story. Travis dedicated a sweet Mother’s Day post to Kylie on Sunday, sharing two photos of Kylie and Stormi cuddled up in the car and pool. He captioned it with a popular poem,

Of all the special things in life

The big ones and small

A mamas love and rage and tenderness

Is the most special of them all

Do you think they are going to announce they are back together soon? Let us know in the comments.

Rise & Grind: Toosii Talks “Love Cycle” With Summer Walker & Getting Booed At His First Concert

Rise & Grind is a new editorial series, meant to introduce and dissect new, buzzing, or underground artists.

Somewhere between the lines of melodic rap and hard-hitting R&B lies the Raleigh, North Carolina-based artist Toosii. Fresh off the heels of unleashing his latest collection of songs, Thank You For Believing, featuring the likes of Mulatto, DaBaby and Key Glock, Toosii further cements himself as one of the game’s most promising rising stars. Propelled into the limelight by his knack for complimenting sincere lyricism with raw emotion, he reached a more widespread commercial audience on the strength of his February 2020 effort Platinum Heart. Tastefully blending honest tales of street life and his “hood romantic” side, the project went on to hit the summit of the Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.

The ambitious Syracuse-native followed up its success with September’s Poetic Pain. The effort debuted within the Top 20 region on the Billboard 200 and has garnered over 213 million global streams since its release. Album-standout “Love Cycle” with Summer Walker stands as his biggest hit thus far, eventually earning the 21-year-old his first Gold plaque.

Named in numerous publications as a 2021 Artist to Watch, Toosii has received co-signs from fellow lyricists like his South Coast Music Group labelmate DaBaby, who called Toosii “the hottest new emerging artist.” Toosii is just getting started with his impending domination and he recently connected with HNHH for the latest edition of Rise & Grind to reflect on his first live show experience, his desire to collaborate with Billie Eilish, working with Mulatto and Summer Walker, and much more.

Stay tuned for a new instalment of Rise & Grind next Monday.

Stomping Grounds:

So I grew up in Syracuse, New York, a small city in New York. You know growing up, you grow up fast, I lost a lot of friends, had a lot of friends go to prison, all of that. It motivated me to do something better, that’s what I would say.

Zodiac Sign:

The only zodiac sign I really know about is Leos and Capricorns because I’m a Capricorn. [Capricorns are ambitious and hard-working].

Sh*t, I’m here ain’t I? It’s a process I been working through it all.

Top 5 DOA:

Top five rapper’s dead or alive? You know it’s so crazy man I don’t really listen to rap music.

I’m going to be honest if I like a rapper it’s because of him as a person, like Nipsey. I got to go with Jay-Z, Nas for sure, Lil Wayne, Jadakiss.

Oh my god, I listen to pop music, country music, R&B.

Studio Habits & Essentials:

I gotta have tea, Sour Patch candy, Minute Maid, something to drink. I gotta have all of these.

“Love Cycle”:

I was on tour with Summer and ‘Love Cycle’ was already out and the song was performing well. It came to the point we needed someone for the feature, so I was like who better than Summer. We put Summer on it and it really did it for me. I remember the night it came out, we were in L.A. at a Chick-fil-a. The song was going crazy on the internet I’m talking my name trending, 10,000 tweets about me, it was one of those nights.

First Bars:

The first bars I ever had, not wrote, came from my sister… no, my brother. My brother had written a rap for my sister and I stole it from my sister. I rapped it and put it on Facebook and it was going crazy. My sister used to be on Facebook rapping. We come from a rapping family.

First Show:

I remember that like it was yesterday. I had a show where I live in Raleigh, NC with A Boogie. I got booed off stage before I even got to perform. Oh no, nobody intimidates me, I was laughing after. You gotta know how to play it. They were really just ready for A Boogie, it was so many opening acts, it was one of those shows. I got the opening act and they ready for the artist. I’m the act right before A Boogie. I get out on stage before I even get to perform, I’ve just come out and they’re like “BOOGIE, BOOGIE, BOOGIE” and I’m just standing there, got the mic in my hand. I’m like “Damn yall ain’t even give me a chance to start.” I said “Yall ain’t even give me a chance to suck yet” and the whole crowd bust out laughing and I had their attention from there. You just have to know how to play every situation. Life is about options. You have the option to react to things a certain way. You just gotta play it right.

Clocking Out:

I listen to Billie Eilish, I got a Billie Eilish t-shirt. I like Lewis Capaldi, Tim McGraw, John Legend, Jason Mraz, Train, Ed Sheeran, Adele. That’s the type of stuff I listen to.

I’m gonna keep it one hundred I could name more pop artists than I can rap artists.

Up Next:

Honestly, to continue to put out music and continue to give fans what they want. That’s all I know how to do, is give the fans what they want. Sooner or later it’s about to be time to tour.

HNHH: I see you’ve collaborated with Da Baby, Lil Durk, Summer Walker, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Tjay, Queen Naija, Amine and more. You clearly worked with a wide range of artists, definitely fitting to the wide range of music you listen to. Which of these collaborations or reach-out requests was most exciting for you personally?

Toosii: You know what’s crazy, out of all those songs you just mentioned, only one of them is my song. All of those songs that I was on, they reached out to me. Like, ‘we wanna put Toosi on this’ and I was like, ‘If I fuck with you let’s get it.’ One of my favorites probably was, and not even about being fans of the artists, just the songs; Queen Naija, “One Time,” Lil Tjay, “Love Hurts.”

LISTEN: Lil Tjay – Love Hurts feat. Toosii

Is there anyone you would like the opportunity to work with in the future?

Billie Eilish.

Toosi x Billie Eilish, that would be something serious.

T x Billie Eilish would have people crying, grabbing tissues.

For sure. So you released two projects last year, Platinum Heart, the standard and deluxe at the top of the year; and Poetic Pain in September. Plus you’re dropping another tape this Friday [Thank You For Believing]. That’s obviously a lot of music, were you feeling particularly inspired in quarantine? What was your creative process like for these projects? How did you find the drive to just turn it out?

Let’s make music, that’s all I knew. I got work to do. I love making music, like I recorded two projects in two sessions. I’m just trying to just make music that’s all I know.

I noticed you tweeted the other day that your favorite track from Thank You for Believing was “5’5” with Mulatto. I got a chance to listen to it and it’s definitely one of my favorites too from the project. So what’s your connection to the track and why would you describe it as your favorite. Can you talk a little bit about what it was like working with Mulatto?

The song was already established before it got sent to me. It’s my favorite because it’s just a vibe, that’s gonna be one of them summer bangers. It’s the perfect time, we’re about to go into summer, I feel like that’s the one right there. We gonna shoot a video, we gonna go crazy. I didn’t even know the song was gonna get sent to her, my team just sent it to her. She got on it and I was like, ‘sh*t’s fire.’

So at one point you used to go by ‘Toosi 2x,’ right? What inspired the small name switch?

I always went by Toosi and I’m just two times. Two times is just a way of living, I got it tattooed on my neck. Two times is just a way of living and what it stands for. You know when they say when you sleeping somebody’s working two times harder than you. I’m that person that’s always working two times harder than the next person. It’s a way of living honestly.

What do you want to be known for in the game? If you had full control over the narrative regarding you and your artistry when it’s being discussed decades from now, what would you want your musical legacy to be?

I have people from the music industry that I look up to, as far as just being a person. I want the world to look at me how they looked at Nipsey, and it’s a process. I’m growing and I’m still very young but I’m very intelligent. So I want the world to look at me how they look at Nipsey, for real.
