Charlamagne Tha God’s Prediction Of The Joe Budden Podcast Resurfaces

There’s been conflict rumbling underneath the surface of The Joe Budden Podcast. However, it came to light in the past few weeks after Joe told Rory to take a few weeks off. Clearly, the issues between the two men have been boiling up for a while so when Joe made that executive decision, it created friction among everyone and led to this morning’s controversy surrounding Joe firing his co-hosts.

The Joe Budden Podcast has apparently come to an end because of the recent conflict but that doesn’t seem shocking to many. Some have predicted that the show would implode sooner rather than later including Charlamagne Tha God. The Breakfast Club host once sat down for an interview on JPB where he got extremely honest about his feelings about the future of the pod.

“I say look, I like Everyday Struggle. I hope Joe Budden doesn’t fuck it up, the way he fucks up a lot of things that he’s involved in,” Charlamagne said. “I’m actually rootin’. I’m like, yo, Joe, don’t self-destruct this time.”

What’s worse about the clip is that Charlamagne told Rory directly that he believed Joe would replace him with DJ Akademiks. While that seemed far-fetch then, it seems like the latest development in the world of The Joe Budden Podcast could lead to a reunion with the Everyday Struggle co-hosts.

El-P Calls MF DOOM’s Death ‘A Severe Blow To The Writing World’ On Open Mike Eagle Podcast

MF DOOM‘s peers and admirers are still grieving his loss. When his death was announced on New Year’s Eve last year, many lamented the untimely demise of one of the foremost underground rappers in hip-hop and a pioneer for the genre. Run The Jewels member El-P took it a step further during the latest episode of Open Mike Eagle’s Stony Island podcast What Had Happened Was, calling DOOM’s death “a severe blow to the writing world” as a whole.

“I don’t just mean the rap world, lyric writing, [but] human writing,” he clarified. “The world lost an important writer.”

The episode, which was recorded in early January after the news broke, mainly focuses on El-P’s experience producing Killer Mike’s R.A.P. Music LP, which laid the groundwork for their future partnership as Run The Jewels. It’s part of a multi-part series exploring El-P’s near-30-year career as a producer and rapper, from his beginnings in the New York underground as a member of Company Flow through his work as a label owner and near-mythic figure in the hip-hop world, much like DOOM.

Open Mike Eagle, meanwhile, paid tribute to his fallen collaborator in January, recording and sharing a freestyle borrowing DOOM’s iconic flow and paying tribute to the villain’s penchant for trolling his fans with doubles at one point in his career. You can listen to Open Mike and El-P’s latest episode of What Had Happened Was here.

Billie Eilish, Lizzo & More To Headline 2021 Firefly Festival: See Lineup

It looks like Billie Eilish, The Killers, Tame Impala, and Lizzo will be headlining the 2021 Firefly Festival later this year.

Going down September 23-26th, the festival returns to The Woodlands in Dover, Delaware for a 4-day event with performances from the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Wiz Khalifa, Machine Gun Kelly, Diplo, and Roddy Ricch to name a few. Other acts include Cage The Elephant, Portugal The Man and even St. Louis rapper Nelly. Check out the full lineup (below) and be sure to try and cop tickets this Friday at 10AM EST when they go on pre-sale at fireflyfestival.com.

The return of the Firefly Festival comes more than a year after last year’s cancellation due to Covid. “We are deeply disappointed by this difficult decision, one that impacts our fans and our incredible team of performers, crew, vendors and our community in Dover, Delaware,” the statement announcing the event’s cancelation read last year.

This isn’t the only festival going down that weekend however. The Governors Ball is also set to happen that same weekend in New York City, which Billie Eilish is also headlining as well. It’s finally nice to see that Festivals are coming back and normal life that we once knew it as is shaping form.

Ellen Degeneres’ Talk Show Is Coming To An End

The Ellen Show has been a staple in daytime talk shows, inviting the biggest celebrities on board for light-hearted conversations that can sometimes get messy. And while she’s cemented her status in daytime television, it looks like The Ellen Show is finally coming to an end in 2022.

According to The Hollywood Reported, Degeneres informed her staff on May 11th that the show would be coming to a close. She’ll be sitting down with Oprah tomorrow for a full interview addressing why she’s calling it quits after 19 seasons.

“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” DeGeneres said of the move for the first time publicly.

The news shouldn’t come as much of a shock since Ellen has discussed the idea of departing the show. In a 2018 NYT profile, she said her wife Portia De Rossi encouraged her to move forward from the TV show while executives and her brother told her to renew her contract.

The Ellen Show has taken a massive blow to its ratings since the 2018 scandal alleging that Ellen and executives created a toxic work environment. Ellen has since apologized publicly but it didn’t necessarily help the show boost its ratings to where it was in the past.

Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe Goes On Racist Tirade About Asian Host

Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe went viral this week after he decided to unleash a racist tirade against his asian colleague. It all went down last week in Austin, Texas when the comedian, known for the Comedy Central Roast series and working on Joe Rogan’s podcast, did a set after being introduced by fellow comic Peng Dang (who is of Chinese descent). However, things quickly took a turn for the worse when Hinchcliffe went off the rails and started attacking Dang for being Asian.

Dang was more than courteous in the intro, telling the crowd to “give it up for the one and only, Tony Hinchcliffe” … but as soon as Tony grabbed the mic, he went right into excoriating Dang; calling him a “filthy little fucking ch*nk.” He then went on to call them “race traitors” for laughing at his jokes, before adopting a ‘comedy’ Chinese accent to say things like: “Oh, you want extra soy sauce.” Check out the incredibly rude rant (below).

Dang, who moved to the US from China a decade ago, at the age of 25, posted the footage on social media with the simple comment: ‘Last week in Austin, I got to bring up Tony Hinchcliffe. This is what he said. Happy Asian (AAPI) Heritage Month!”

The clip has been viewed almost a million times on Twitter alone, and attracted more than 1,200 comments such as: ‘Wants so bad to be “canceled” so he can talk about it on rogan but is just racist and has no bits’.”

Hinchcliffe has not yet publicly responded to the widespread condemnation of his racist comments. He does have a show this week in Madison, WI. So we’ll see what happens there.

Tristan Thompson’s Alleged Mistress Sydney Chase Hires Attorney Gloria Allred: Report

Tristan Thompson’s relationship with Khloe Kardashian has long been one of the most scrutinized couplings in the entertainment industry, and over the past couple of weeks, their relationship has been tested once again as a woman named Sydney Chase has accused Tristan Thompson of having an affair with her. Following Chase’s allegations, Tristan allegedly ordered a cease and desist against the 23-year-old model, but she has since vocalized her disinterest in adhering to it.

As if the Celtics power forward wasn’t already up to his neck in public scrutiny as well as claims that he has a baby on the way, his ongoing drama with Sydney Chase has now gotten even more serious. According to Page Six, Thompson’s alleged mistress has now reportedly sought legal counsel from high-profile attorney Gloria Allred.

According to Page Six, the Instagram model is fighting back against claims made by Thompson that she “lied” about having a months-long sexual relationship with the NBA star by hiring Allred, who is known as a prominent women’s rights lawyer.

In a release to the outlet, Allred stated, “[Chase] has retained my law firm, Allred, Maroko & Goldberg, to represent her and to conduct a full investigation which she believes will substantiate the relationship between her and Tristan Thompson. If Mr. Thompson has nothing to hide, then we would expect that he will make himself available for questioning by me and that he will voluntarily provide the documents. Sydney would be willing to be present at this meeting to answer questions and provide documents.”

Stay tuned to see how this messy dispute between Tristan Thompson and Sydney Chase translates into the courtroom.

50 Cent’s Fed Up With Cuban Link’s TikTok Shenanigans

50 Cent’s hip-hop’s biggest troll but it feels like his efforts have died down a bit in recent times. Perhaps it’s partially due to his endorsement of Donald Trump ahead of the 2020 elections but every so often, he pops up on the timeline with a new victim to roast. However, it seems that he’s now on the receiving end of the jokes.

The tables have turned on him and it appears that his girlfriend Cuban Link is making up for the lack of trolling on Fif’s end. Last night, she took to TikTok where she did the “This Is Your Man” challenge along with a photo of 50 Cent from his role in 2012’s All Things Fall Apart where he lost a significant amount of weight for the role of a terminally ill man. To this day, it remains one of Fif’s low points in his career and it’s frequently brought up whenever he’s engulfed in an online feud.

While many have got a few laughs off from Cuban Link’s TikTok video, 50 Cent hit the ‘Gram with his reaction to the video. Apparently, Cuban Link might not have a phone after the next time they’re driving together. “This mother fucker done lost her mind,” he captioned the post. “I’m a throw her fucking phone out of the highway.”

Check out Cuban Link’s TikTok video below.

Texas Rapper Big Jade Releases Her Propulsive Debut Album ‘Pressure’

Texas has been experiencing a big moment lately. While Megan Thee Stallion has become a household name, a number of Lone Star State’s rappers have been bubbling up from its expansive underground scene. While Dallas’ Erica Banks is swiftly following in Meg’s footsteps thanks to the viral “Buss It” challenge utilizing her breakout single, another Texas rapper has been building a buzz with the support of local impresario BeatKing and a string of impressive freestyles and self-released bangers. Big Jade, who previously released the eye-catching “Dem Girlz” video featuring Erica Banks, dropped her debut album Pressure today, and it’s well worth giving it a spin (or a stream, I guess).

If you’ve been following Uproxx’s “Best New Hip-Hop This Week” column throughout the year, it’s probable you’ve seen one of Jade’s freestyles or singles, which include “Gucci Bag,” “Bonnet Freestyle,” “No Hook,” and “Groupies.” Like her fellow Texans, Jade raps with a boisterous, drawling swagger that taps into the long lineage of longhorn rappers from Houston, which is about 90 miles away from her hometown, Beaumont.

On Pressure she employs that sharp, incisive flow to display her equally pointed wit over speaker slamming production by BeatKing and sharing her spotlight with more Texas stalwarts such as OMB Bloodbath and Queendom Come. You should definitely take some time to familiarize yourself; Big Jade is in a prime position to become the latest star from the state where everything is bigger.

Pressure is out now via Alamo Records. Listen below.
