Erica Banks & BeatKing Add DreamDoll To “Toot That (Remix)”

She’s positioning herself to be the next woman in the Rap game to storm the charts and following the viral success of her single “Buss It,” Erica Banks isn’t slowing down. The 1501 Certified Entertainment artist has often been pitted against Megan Thee Stallion due to them emerging from the same label, but Banks is over the comparisons. The Texas rapper introduced her single “Toot That” last year, offering up a music video in the Fall, and over six months later, she’s back with a remix.

The original version featured BeatKing and this time around, she’s called on New York firecracker DreamDoll to assist. The explicit track isn’t for the faint of heart as the trio spit bars about bedroom antics, but it’s doesn’t come as a surprise to those familiar with these artist’s catalogs. Stream Erica Banks’s “Toot That (Remix) featuring BeatKing and DreamDoll, and let us know what you think.

Quotable Lyrics

Throw it in rotation, make that n*gga get up on it, b*tch
Do it like you nasty, do it like you own it, b*tch
Thick ass, got a lil’ junk to it (Junk to it)
Big booty, got a lil’ bump to it (Bump to it)
Throw it back quick, he’ll run to it (Uh)

Earthgang & Wale Tap Coi Leray For “Options (Remix)”

Dreamville duo Earthgang first shared their Wale-assisted collaboration “Options” back in December 2020, but it looks as if they were awaiting the right moment to drop the single’s remix. There are plenty of choices when it comes to who they could have added to the upgraded version and the team decided that “No More Parties” hitmaker Coi Leray would be the perfect person. Leray’s career has been on a steady climb as her singles have been buzzing on the charts, and after going Platinum, the young artist is enjoying her time in the limelight.

This release comes on the heels of the news that Coi Leray earned her first BET Awards nomination, and after celebrating her accomplishment online, she faced off with a few trolls that tried to dim her light. There was a back and forth with Yung Bleu that also boiled down to a misunderstanding, and after they set the record straight, Bleu praised Leray for her talents.

Quotable Lyrics

You’re getting older, heart getting colder
Unstable emotions, success, I want more of it
They keep talking, they so toxic
But I’m out here like f*ck it, ’cause I’m on one, I’m on one
Yeah, can’t wonder why they show no love

Eminem Calls On Cordae & Jack Harlow For Blazing “Killer (Remix)”

“You know we had to do a remix, right?” Eminem tweeted on Thursday (May 27). “K I L L E R RMX w/ @jackharlow & @cordae Midnight ET.” That simple tweet was enough to send fans into a tizzy and the Detroit emcee has finally delivered. Back in December 2020, Eminem dropped off Music To Be Murdered By: Side B, and included on the tracklist was a standout titled “Killer.” It seems that Em isn’t quite finished promoting the project and he’s reignited the hype by sharing this remix with Jack Harlow and Cordae.

The two featured artists have been capturing attention in this younger generation of rappers looking for footing in the game, and with an Eminem co-sign and collaboration under their belts, they can’t fail. Harlow’s “What’s Poppin” dominated charts and social media, while Cordae has been poised as the next great lyricist if he continues to be the student of Hip Hop that he’s professed to be.

Gwen Stefani Rejects Cultural Appropriation “Harajuku Girls” Backlash

She’s long stood accused of cultural appropriation, but that hasn’t stopped Gwen Stefani’s career. The singer entered the music scene as the lead singer of Rock group No Doubt in the 1990s and after the band reached mega-success, Stefani ventured off as a solo artist where she dominated the Pop scene. She borrowed looks and mannerisms from Hip Hop and had an entire movement with her band of Japanese “Harajuku Girls” who traveled with her from coast to coast. Stefani donned traditional Japanese attire and changed her makeup to fit the style, but not everyone was thrilled about the look.

For decades, Stefani has faced backlash and criticism, even as recently as her music video for “Slow Clap” featuring Saweetie, but the Pop star sat down with Paper Magazine to address the controversy, citing her “deep fascination” with Japan and being “inspired” by the culture.

“If you read the actual lyrics [in ‘What You Waiting For?’], it talks about being a fan of Japan and how if I do good, I get to go back there,” she told the publication. “I never got to have dancers with No Doubt. I never got to change costumes. I never got to do all of those fun girl things that I always love to do. So I had this idea that I would have a posse of girls — because I never got to hang with girls — and they would be Japanese, Harajuku girls, because those are the girls that I love. Those are my homies. That’s where I would be if I had my dream come true, I could go live there and I could go hang out in Harajuku.”

Paper noted that years ago actress and comedian Margaret Cho compared the Harajuku Girls with Stefani to a minstrel show. “If we didn’t buy and sell and trade our cultures in, we wouldn’t have so much beauty, you know?” Stefani said. “We learn from each other, we share from each other, we grow from each other. And all these rules are just dividing us more and more… I think that we grew up in a time where we didn’t have so many rules. We didn’t have to follow a narrative that was being edited for us through social media, we just had so much more freedom.”

The Weeknd And Ariana Grande Perform ‘Save Your Tears’ For The First Time At The iHeartRadio Music Awards

More than a year after he shared his celebrated album, After Hours, with the world, The Weeknd teamed up with Ariana Grande to deliver a new remix of “Save Your Tears.” The collaboration marked the third time the duo worked on a song together following 2014’s “Love Me Harder” and last year’s “Off The Table” each from Grande’s My Everything and Positions albums, respectively. The “Save Your Tears” remix arrived at the height of the singers’ stardom but they had yet to perform the song together in what fans hoped would be an epic moment. That changed on Thursday when The Weeknd and Grande brought their talents to the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

The Weeknd walked onto the award stage to begin his portion of the song. Clearing through his verse as blue and purple neon lighting shined above him, viewers were greeted by the surprise arrival of Ariana Grande who emerged from backstage to begin her own verse. The performance as a whole was solid and it showed the well-established chemistry the two singers held between each other.

The performance comes after The Weeknd took home a whopping ten awards at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. His wins came in categories that included Top Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top Hot 100 Song, and Top R&B Album. He also teased new music from a new era during the award show. As for Grande, she recently got married to her fiance Dalton Gomez in what was a small yet intimate ceremony.

BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors Resigns: “It Feels Like The Time Is Right”

She recently came forward to defend her real estate purchases, it’s being reported that Patrice Cullors is leaving her position with the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation. We previously reported on the controversy surrounding information that Cullors purchased multiple properties in Georgia and California to the tune of $3 million and soon, anti-Black Lives Matter advocates accused the activist of skimming funds from the foundation. However, Cullors bit back and stated she didn’t take money from the organization, citing her work as an artist, best-selling author, and various other ventures.

Even after the finances for BLMGNF were broken down for the public, the scandal remained. On Thursday (May 27), Cullors made the official announcement of her departure from the organization on Instagram where she shared in a video that she would now be focusing her time on a television deal as well as a new book.

“For over seven and a half years, I was in the day-to-day of that organization, working with our chapters, working alongside elected officials, challenging the police,” said Cullors. “At the end of 2019, many of don’t know this, I actually stepped back. I didn’t make a public announcement. I really wanted to see the next generation of leadership lead. And when the uprising happened last year, folks inside of Black Lives Matter asked me to come back and I had to really think about it.”

“It’s a lot of work, it’s a lot of responsibility, I love the work and so yes, I came back,” she continued. “It was always supposed to be interim and so, now is my time… I’ve created the infrastructure and the support, and the necessary bones and foundation, so that I can leave,” Cullors said. “It feels like the time is right.” Cullors assured viewers that there are “amazing, competent” folks at the helm of BLMGNF and she looks forward to what’s to come.
