Metro Marrs is one of Quality Control Music’s latest signees. He signed to the imprint late last year in a joint deal with the label Since the 80s after generating considerable buzz on his own. The teenager seems to have a lot to commemorate recently. He just celebrated his 18th birthday and graduated from Langston Hughes High School on Friday (May 21)–the same school the likes of other famed Atlanta artists like Summer Walker, Gunna, and Playboi Carti attended. 

Obviously in the celebratory spirit, the “Bye Felecia” artist made it rain $10k in cash at his graduation ceremony. While it earned him a loud ovation from the crowd, police officers and his school administrators were not so amused. 

In the now-viral footage, Marrs can be seen crossing the stage. Deciding to go out with a bang, he then pulled out wads of cash from his pants and sprayed the crowd with the bills, much to the amusement of his fellow grads. The crowd went into a frenzy as they reached up their hands to grab the green bills falling from the sky. 

While the grads were ecstatic, school officials were not feeling it. You can see several of them get out of their seats to reprimand the excited 18-year-old labelmate of Migos, Lil Yachty, and the City Girls. Despite this, he continued making it rain until he threw around $10k in total.

Cops arrived to escort the young rapper out of the ceremony and we’re told after he was arrested, he was held for a couple of days. TMZ also reports that he was detained for inciting a riot and disorderly conduct and was ticketed for it. 

His management took to his social media over the weekend to update fans on the situation. “#freeme y’all tag [The Shade Room] in the comments,” wrote someone from his team with a laughing emoji. “#classof2021 I love yallll!! (This his management team) #freemetro he will get out in a couple of hours.” 

Overall, it seems like the QC signee is taking the minor run-in with law enforcement in stride. Congrats to Metro Marrs on graduating!

It seems that every time Future steps out with a guest verse, there’s something said to grab headlines. Mind you, his personal life has frequently been publicized but his music is where he addresses it. The rapper’s relationship with Steve Harvey’s daughter, Lori, wasn’t something that people expected but 2020 was a year full of surprises.

Last week, their relationship returned to headlines after a collaboration with Future and 42 Dugg leaked online. “Maybach,” off of Dugg’s Free Dem Boyz, became an immediate highlight off of the project if only because Future raps, “Tell Steve Harvey I don’t want her.”

Dugg recently was at The Breakfast Club where he was asked about that line in particular. Charlamagne Tha God asked Dugg about his first reaction to the record. “It’s going down,” recalled Dugg as the room erupted into laughter. “I wanted him to say that shit two more times. See if he could say it right here, you know what I’m sayin’?”

Dugg said that he was well-aware of how it would be turned into a headline but as the saying goes: there’s no such thing as bad publicity. “I was lovin’ it,” he added before Charlamagne asked him if he’s even a fan of Family Feud. “Man, not at all. Future knew too, though. He knew. Future a bad mothafucka. We shot the video, he changed his clothes 6 times… He made me change my clothes.”

After justice for George Floyd was finally achieved when Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all charges, the Minneapolis community was faced with another tragedy. One person was shot after over a dozen rounds were fired in the area of the city named after Floyd. A live news report from George Floyd Square in Minneapolis captured the panic and chaos as shots rang out and people ducked for cover. 

Reporter Alex Presha from a local news affiliate of ABC News was live on the scene of the memorial near where Floyd was murdered by Chauvin a year ago today (May 25). As he was detailing the mayor’s plan to hold a moment of silence for 9 minutes and 29 seconds reflective of the time Chauvin kneeled on Floyd, a string of gunfire erupted.

More than a dozen rounds were fired as Presha and the rest of the news crew hid from the gunfire. ABC quickly cut away from the chaos. Law enforcement tells TMZ that the Minneapolis Police Department responded to reports of shots fired around 10:09 a.m. central time. Witnesses further claim they saw a suspect fleeing the scene in a vehicle driving at a high speed. 

TMZ reports a short time later, an individual showed up at a local hospital with a mild gunshot wound. AP reporter Phillip Crowther also reports he was on the scene and heard a few dozen gunshots. 

Luckily, no one else was injured in the gunfire. Briefly mentioned before, Tuesday marks one year since Floyd was murdered by former officer and convict Derek Chauvin.

Though a variety of topics were covered, one of the most interesting moments arose when Swizzy opened up about the substantial number of guest appearances on Exodus. 

“The only tribute was the Moneybagg track,” explains Swizz, implying that Moneybagg Yo’s “Money Money Money” was pieced together posthumously. “Everything else X was present and happy for. We had a conversation, and I told him, I said, yo, I know you don’t like a lot of features, but I think it’s time that people should see that other people love you as well and you’re respected by serious, serious artists.”

“Although you’re humble, although you don’t really have features, let’s have fun with it, come out the gate,” he continues. “Then the next album, we can get back to how you want to do it, but let’s have some fun. Let’s give them something they can’t expect. They’re not expecting you and Bono. They’re not expecting you and Alicia. They’re not expecting you and Griselda. They’re not expecting you, Jay, and Nas on one track. You know what I’m saying? They never expected an Usher with “Letter To My Son, Call Your Father,” You know?”

“He just loved the idea of it, but he was a little sneaky about it because in his mind, he loved that he was able to work with them,” continues Swizz. “On the other hand, he figured out it was less work for him. He really loved it. He was like, oh, I only got to do three verses? Okay, tell Lil’ Wayne let’s go. So that was the good, the good part, man.”
