Coi Leray Trolls Pressa’s Canadian Accent

Amid rumors sprouting earlier this month about an emerging relationship between rappers Coi Leray and Pressa, a playful TikTok posted to the former’s account seems to only further confirm their closeness.

The newly-minted XXL Freshman posted a video of Pressa to her TikTok page on Wednesday with the caption “Dating a Canadian,” in which she tells him to repeat words and phrases that hilariously highlight his distinct Canadian accent and terminology. Most notable of all the differences is when he terms the place that he showers as the “washroom.”

Both artists have been active in showing their affection for one another in social media posts throughout the past month, leaving very little doubt that they are inseperable. The pair first linked up on Pressa’s “Attachments” remix, and have since been more active in posting one another on their respective pages.

It remains to be seen if this budding relationship will inspire new music from the pair as a couple, but in the meantime, their playful relationship on social media will keep fans watching.

Lil Duval Unleashes Hot Takes About Lil Baby & DaBaby

Just in case the Hip-Hop Mt. Rushmore of the 2010s debate a few weeks ago didn’t cause enough uproar, Lil Duval stepped up to the plate and hit Twitter to ensure that absolute chaos would ensue. In two short tweets, the comedian-turned-musical artist has gotten the Hip-Hop community engaged in a debate about two of the hottest rappers in the music industry: Lil Baby and DaBaby.

As far as Lil Duval is concerned, both of the artists share major similarities with some of the biggest rappers of past generations, and according to him, Lil Baby and DaBaby align most closely with artists like Jeezy and Ludacris

“Da baby is this generation Ludacris. Lil Baby is this generation Jeezy,” Lil Duval tweeted early Thursday morning, unknowingly igniting a heated Hip-Hop debate. Naturally, several Twitter users were sent into a tizzy following Duval’s tweets, with many of them arguing that neither of the contemporary rappers is touching Jeezy or Ludacris’s level of skill or longevity. Duval then explains that rather than comparing the artist’s skills, he’s highlighting the similarities between their overall brands and their current influence.

Lil Duval went on to show pictures of stills from Ludacris’ “Get Back” music video side by side with DaBaby’s “Suge” music video, and it’s easy to see the point that he’s trying to make in regards to both of the artists’ gimmicky approach to their visuals. Duval also backtracks a bit on his original Lil Baby hot take, revealing that after having a conversation with Charlamagne Tha God, he now thinks Lil Baby is more like this generation’s T.I.

What do you think? Does Lil Duval have a point or are his hot takes way off?

Cardi B Says Female Rappers Are Held To A Higher Standard For Live Shows

Cardi B says that female rappers have to put much more effort into their performances than male rappers, citing hair and make-up, choreography, and more. Cardi’s statement came in response to a fan on Twitter who complained that men pick apart female artists’ performances.

“Unrelated but; I hate how Women rappers can perform & have whole ass choreography routines & still get criticized & picked apart while men rappers just walk around in one circle, jump up & down, giving the bare minimum with no criticism @ all,” one fan wrote quote-tweeting a video of Cardi performing “Clout” and “Press” at the 2019 BET Awards.

The rap star responded to the post: “Female rappers have to bust their ass on performances, great visuals, hours on make-up, hours on hair, pressure by the public to look perfect, make great music and yet are The most disrespected. It’s always they not good enough, what’s new? It’s boring, Why her not me.”

Earlier this week, Vin Diesel confirmed that Cardi will be returning for the forthcoming 10th installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. She appeared in the ninth film as Leysa, something she said was “so dope.”

Hoppus posted a since-deleted photo to his Instagram story early Wednesday with the caption “Yes hello. One cancer treatment, please” – seemingly joking and alluding to his ongoing situation before formally releasing a statement on the matter.

Since then, Barker spoke to E! News about the situation and indicated that he will be there for Hoppus every step of the way throughout his treatment. He also posted a throwback photo to his Instagram story with the caption “Love you @markhoppus” indicating his support to his 4.5 million IG followers.

KXNG Crooked Wants Dr. Dre To Produce A Female Rapper’s Album

If you’re ever looking for a place to discuss and debate hip-hop with fellow like-minded individuals, KXNG Crooked’s Twitter page has become quite the community for hip-hop connoisseurs. With a new rap conversation sparked daily, it’s not uncommon to see Crook offering his own perspectives on the game, as well as putting forth topics to be unpacked by his followers.

Today, Crook found himself reflecting on one of his many unrequited desires. “I really want Dr. Dre to produce an entire album for a woman who raps,” he tweeted, and before long, fans were in his comments reflecting on the possibility. It didn’t take long before The Lady Of Rage and Eve were brought into the mix, both of whom worked with Dre throughout the years. And lest we forget about Ms. Roq, who stole the show on 2001 tracks like “Let’s Get High” and “Murder Ink.”

Though Dre never ended up producing a Rage album due to his split from Death Row, one has to wonder if his involvement would have elevated her status on a commercial level. Lord knows she was already a lyrical force to be reckoned with. In Eve’s case, she did briefly sign with Aftermath, though she was ultimately dropped before Dre could put in serious work on her album. Still, the pair did end up making a few classic tunes together, including “That’s What It Is,” “What,” “Satisfaction,” and “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.”

While Crook’s wish is ultimately a big hypothetical, it did ultimately lead to an interesting reveal. When one follower implied that Dre hasn’t been active in the lab, Crook retorted with a bombshell. “I walked in his studio and saw 146 songs on a big ass list,” he teases, a surefire sign that an album is almost certainly in the works. And who knows — perhaps a few of those tracks will feature a woman who raps, a potential signee for a new era of Aftermath.

Sean Kingston Says He Slept With Another Woman While His Girl Was In The Same House

Sean Kingston says he once slept with another woman while his girlfriend was in the same house. The iconic singer detailed the story during a recent episode of Angela Yee’s Lip Service.

“I ain’t gon’ lie, I did some shit where she was upstairs and I was fucking another girl downstairs,” he said.

Kingston explained that his girlfriend “made me so mad to [that] point—and that’s the only time I ever cheated in a relationship, ’cause I don’t cheat. But she made it so bad—she hacked my iCloud, she hacked my fucking Instagram, she hacked all type of shit, bro. Like, imagine.”

Yee expressed zero sympathies for Kingston, despite his explanation.

“Sean, son, we do not have no sympathy for you! You just said you fucked a girl in the house that y’all shared. You know how crazy that is?” Yee told the singer.

Kington attempted once more to explain himself: “Like she was upstairs, thought I was downstairs with the guys recording, she didn’t know nothing was going down. I mean, I was just down there vibing!”

After some more back and forth, Yee called Kingston’s actions “grimy.”

Cardi B Thinks Female Rappers Are Held To A Higher Standard With Live Performances Than Male Rappers Are

There are many who would attest that women in hip-hop haven’t always received the recognition and respect they deserve. Today, Cardi B dug into that narrative by shining a light on a comparison between live performances by female and male rappers.

This afternoon, a Twitter user shared a clip of Cardi and Offset’s performance of “Clout” and “Press” at the 2019 BET Awards, which featured an elaborate set, lighting, choreography, and so on. That prompted another user to re-share the video and add, “Unrelated but; I hate how Women rappers can perform & have whole ass choreography routines & still get criticized & picked apart while men rappers just walk around in one circle, jump up & down, giving the bare minimum with no criticism @ all.”

Cardi seemed to be in agreement with that take, because she shared the tweet and added, “Female rappers have to bust their ass on performances ,great visuals, hours on make up ,hours on hair ,pressure by the public to look perfect, make great music and yet are The most disrespected. It’s always they not good enough, what’s new? It’s boring,Why her not me.”

Meanwhile, Cardi’s latest film, F9, premieres in theaters this week, and the good news for Cardi fans is that she’s set to appear in the next Fast & Furious movie, too.

Vince Staples Shares A First Look At His Upcoming ‘Limbo Beach’ Graphic Novel

Vince Staples may be gearing up for the release of his upcoming self-titled album, but that’s not the only exciting project the rapper has in the works. Staples revealed that he’s partnered with Z2 Comics to co-author a science fiction graphic novel titled Limbo Beach.

Staples and Z2 Comics shared a first look at the novel’s illustration style Thursday. Limbo Beach was co-written by Vince Staples alongside novelists Bryan Edward Hill and Chris Robinson, with illustrations by Buster Moody. According to the summary on Z2 Comic’s website, the story follows a group of “a band of misfit teenage raiders” as they explore an abandoned amusement park run by adolescents that give them super powers.

In a statement alongside the novel’s announcement, Staples described the world in which the story takes place:

Limbo Beach is the story of lost children fighting to regain their stolen youth. It takes place in a world similar to the one that we all live in, where we are shaped by our experiences and those around us. I appreciate the opportunity to create these stories in a way that I never have before. Hopefully it is the first of many.”

Limbo Beach is slated for a December 2021 release. Pre-order it here.
