‘SNL’ Paid Their Respects To DMX Through Jokes And A Tribute To Close The Show

Early Friday morning, DMX’s family put out a statement confirming what the entertainment world would hope to be false. The legendary rapper sadly passed away at 50 following a reported drug overdose and heart attack. Tributes from all over, including the music and sports world, came pouring in and as the days go on, many are still finding their own ways to honor him with the latest being Saturday Night Live.

The first mention of DMX came during the late-night show’s cold open segment. The sketch was led by Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, Kate McKinnon, and Alex Moffat who altogether played four Minnesota anchors that were initially discussing the murder of George Floyd but switch the topic after a disagreement.

“We lost royalty yesterday,” McKinnon said, in reference to Prince Phillip’s death on Friday. “Yes, the rapper DMX died,” Nwodim replied which was met by an applause from he audience. McKinnon tried to correct Nwodim saying, “I was talking about the prince,” but her attempt failed as Nwodim retorted, “Girl, Prince been dead!”

DMX’s came on a pair of occasions later in the show. The first came with a photo SNL put onscreen of the rapper and his stage name following a commercial break, the image from when he himself performed on the show back in 2000 where he performed “What’s My Name” from his 1999 album, … And Then There Was X.. Lastly, after host Carey Mulligan delivered her thank yous to the audience and viewers, Chris Redd held up a handwritten sign that read “R.I.P. DMX” in black lettering.

JOEY TRAP Keeps The Momentum High With “Professional”

We’re only four months into 2021 and Joey Trap has made it absolutely clear that he plans on having the game in a headlock. Following his prolific run in 2020 that included numerous singles and five projects, he kept the momentum high by the time 2021 came around. He’s already one project deep and it seems like that’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what the rapper has in store for the remainder of the year.

This week, the rapper dropped off another new banger titled, “Professional.” The production sounds like something JetsonMade would’ve produced while Trap leans more towards the melodies this time around.

The new single from Joey Trap arrives less than a month after the release of his latest project, LOYALTY.

“White Lives Matter” Rallies Taking Place On Sunday Have Americans Nervous

Several White Lives Matter rallies are taking place across the nation today, and Americans are on edge. In some places, counter-protests are being planned as well. Some of these rallies are being pushed by the KKK, one example being in Southern California. In Huntington Beach, located in Orange County nearly 1 hour outside of Los Angeles, a rally will take place that was organized by the Loyal White Knights of the Klu Klux Klan. The city has officially planned a counter-protest and has released a statement condemning the KKK’s rally.

“We unequivocally condemn white nationalism and the racist ideology promoted by the Ku Klux Klan. While we acknowledge the rights of all Americans — even the vilest racists out there — to express their opinions, we want to loudly and clearly state that the views expressed by the KKK and other white nationalist groups do not reflect the views of Orange County’s residents or elected officials,” reads a statement from Orange County Officials.

“Our rich diversity makes Orange County and Huntington Beach stronger and better. We join the Huntington Beach City Council in condemning white supremacy and applaud it for planning a series of pro-diversity events to counter the disgusting message being promoted by the KKK and other organizers of the White Lives Matter rally this weekend.”

There are also White Lives Matter protests going down in Fargo, North Dakota, Raleigh and Asheville, North Carolina, Columbus, Ohio, and more.

Cam’ron Drags Derrick Jaxn Over DMX Post: “He Don’t F*ck Wit Ya Kind”

Derrick Jaxn built a brand off of being a relationship guru offering sound advice to women and men on being faithful. Unfortunately, he didn’t even follow his own words and was later exposed for cheating on his wife. He owned up to it but that wasn’t enough for people to forget about the scandal.

Cam’ron, in particular, has been hounding Jaxn over the last week from an apparent derogatory comment he left under the Harlem rapper’s page. Cam unleashed a scathing rant against Jaxn, comparing him to Waldo from Family Matters, among other things. Jaxn never responded but Cam isn’t one to simply let go of things without having the final say.

On Friday, Jaxn, like many others, shared a tribute to X on his Instagram page. Cam was not pleased about this and continued to call out the YouTuber. “This n***a been low since he got caught cheating. Now he wanna resurface with this post. I know/knew X personally. He don’t fuck wit ya kind homie,” he wrote. “Don’t try and use the sympathy card n***a. FOH go figure out how to lie, trick more woman and shit on n***as on ya own n***a.”

Artists like Slim Thug and T.I. co-signed the statement in the comment section but when it landed on TheShadeRoom’s page, that’s when Jaxn fired back. “Big homie, you acting like I cheated on you,” he wrote in response to Cam’s comment. “This ain’t the type of event to use to voice your hurt feelings about me. Respect this brother’s legacy and his family more than you’re doing right now.”

Cam never actually specified what Jaxn did exactly to warrant this type of tension between them. In having the last word of the situation, the Dipset leader revealed that Jaxn was sitting on his high horse at the time Cam and JuJu split. “You shoulda never never tried to talk crazy when me and my ex broke up. Our time was just up. I ain’t get caught cheating, lying etc. you da biggest cloutchaser I seen n***a,” Cam said, adding that Jaxn’s only replied to him because TheShadeRoom is watching.

“Somebody shoulda told you how I play,” Cam continued. “And fuck outta here wit the ‘mans legacy’ shit you don’t care. You just looking for something to post where people don’t remind you of the foul n***a you are Waldo.”

DMX’s Ex-Wife Tashera Simmons Penned A Heartfelt Message To Him Following His Death

DMX’s death has hurt a lot of people all throughout the entertainment world, with many taking to social media to show the late rapper love and send their condolences. His passing may hurt few more than his ex-wife Tashera Simmons, however, as it came just a day before her 50th birthday. The two got married in 1998 and filed for divorce in 2012. Together they had four children: Xavier, Tacoma, Praise Mary Ella, and Sean.

On Saturday, Simmons took to Instagram to honor DMX and celebrate her milestone birthday with a heartfelt message.

“Happy 50th birthday to me. With much prayer, pulling. Crying and a roller coaster of emotions,” she wrote. “I couldn’t bring myself to just celebrate and close the last 50yrs of my life with out celebrating the life of one of thee most important person in the world to me, my Ex-husband. I know today is my day. But I also understand that God is love. So When God allowed me to open up my eyes and granted me the gift of life, I realize more than ever, that was my true gift today. Glory be to God!!”

She added, “I am so grateful to God and Honored from the bottom of my heart, For the opportunity while on this Journey called life to join hands in marriage with a true disciple and Angel of God to do life with when we did. Everything we went through was necessary. It made me the women I am today. ”

Kid Cudi Honors Kurt Cobain And Chris Farley In ‘SNL’ Performances Of ‘Sad People’ And ‘Tequila Shots’

Just a few months removed from the release of his seventh solo album, Man On The Moon III: The Chosen, Kid Cudi brought his talents to the stage of Saturday Night Live. The rapper rocked out in a pair of performances of songs from that album, but it was his wardrobe for the night that got the attention of viewers the most.

Kicking off the night with “Tequila Shots,” Cudi stepped out to the mic wearing a T-shirt that featured actor, comedian, and former SNL cast member Chris Farley, who tragically passed away in 1997 from a overdose at just the age of 33 following a lengthy struggle with drug addiction. Later on in the night, Cudi returned, this time donning an Off-White white floral dress, one that was very similar to the one Kurt Cobain famously once wore. The Nirvana frontman also struggled with drug addiction before his tragic suicide in 1994. Cudi has expressed his love and appreciation for Cobain on a number of occasions. In a past interview with GQ, he said, “I try to use [Cobain] as my muse whenever I can.”

Cudi’s decision to honor Farley and Cobain could have been influenced by DMX’s recent passing. The Yonkers rapper died on Friday after a reported drug overdose that caused a heart attack and left him hospitalized for nearly a week.

You can watch the performances in the videos above.

Kevin Durant Unimpressed After Kyrie Irving Got Ejected For Trash-Talking

Last night, NBA fans were up in arms after Dennis Schroder and Kyrie Irving were ejected following a heated verbal exchange on the court. Neither player got physical and from a viewer’s perspective, it was simply a confrontation we have seen a million times. Despite this, the referees made it about themselves, which they have done to an obscene degree this past season. With both players out of the game, the Lakers went on to win by a blowout, and overall, it was a win that was pretty well dictated by the refs.

Players know just how annoying the NBA can be when it comes to fines when criticizing the refs, and Durant was certainly in that frame of mind last night as he was asked about the officials. In the end, KD simply said that the refs can control the outcome of a game and that he didn’t want to comment further on the situation.

At this point, fans are outraged and have had enough with all of the shenanigans that the referees have going on. Many have called for Adam Silver to put a stop to it although for now, it looks like things are going to remain the same. Hopefully, by playoff time, the officials will put their whistles away and let the players play.
