6ix9ine Laughs At Lil Durk & India Royale: “YALL Thought This Man Was Gangsta”

The news regarding the recent alleged shootout at Lil Durk’s home has captivated Hip Hop. There were rumors this week that an altercation occurred at the Chicago rapper’s Georgia estate, and on Thursday (July 15), details of the reported attempted home invasion circulated. We previously reported on the news that on Sunday (July 11) just after 5:00 a.m., several individuals broke into Durk and India’s home resulting in an alleged shootout between the couple and the suspects.

The safety of rappers has been long debated after losing artists to gun violence and crime, including Pop Smoke who was murdered last year in a home invasion. While people are sending prayers and well wishes to Durk and India, Tekashi 6ix9ine used to opportunity to target his foe once again.

6ix9ine hasn’t been shy with his trolling of Lil Durk, and since the passing of Durk’s friend King Von, the controversial New York artist has only increased his insults. This recent news has captured 6ix9ine’s attention and he once again went after Durk. “[sideway crying laughing emojis] YALL thought this man was gangsta [sideway crying laughing emojis] they sliding on this man every other week DAMN give him a break [sideway crying laughing emojis].”

He wasn’t quite finished. “SOMEONE SAID @lildurk not gon slide till they kill his girlfriend [crying laughing emojis] YALL CRAZY.” Elsewhere 6ix9ine added, “Don’t get mad at me otf meatriders LOL I’m not the shooter [sideways crying laughing emojis].” The rapper’s callous comments didn’t go unnoticed by fans who chastised him. Remy Ma Hosts Series “My True Crime Story” & VH1 Drops Trailer

She’s solidified herself as a reality television star as well as a rapper thanks to Love & Hip Hop, now Remy Ma is stretching her partnership with VH1 by starring in a new show. The rapper is no stranger to having trouble with the law after she was sent to prison in connection with a shooting that took place in 2007. Remy was released in 2014 and has maintained her innocence over the years, so it seems fitting that she narrates a show where others tell the tales of their experiences with the criminal justice system.

My True Crime Story will feature individuals who share their tales of criminal activity, injustice, and racism at the hands of those who enforce the law. “These crimes made headlines, now hear the real stories from the masterminds themselves,” Remy said in the trailer.

According to The Jasmine Brand, the format is the same documentary style that true crime fans have grown accustomed to, including interviews with law enforcement, as well as friends and family members who witnessed certain experiences firsthand. These stories are reportedly being used as a warning for those that believe they are untouchable or above the scope of authorities.

Check out the trailer below. My True Crime Story premieres on VH1 on August 2 10/9c.

The Game Says A Man Is Only Loved “Under The Condition He Provides”

The Game dropped a hot take on his Instagram story, this week, writing that men are never loved unconditionally.

“Only women, children & dogs are loved unconditionally,” the Los Angeles rapper wrote. “A man is only loved under the condition he provides something.”

The take was met with a polarizing response on social media.

“Because you are picking the wrong women,” one fan wrote on Instagram. “All most women want from their men is the same loyalty, trust, faithful, respect that she’s giving him in their relationship. It’s not that hard guys.”

Another argued: “Not true. Why do you think these wonen [sic] be be holdin it down for these bum ass dudes?”

The Game came under fire, earlier this week, after a bar from a freestyle he posted to social media landed him in hot water. Fans thought one of the bars was disrespecting Nipsey Hussle the day after rapper Indian Red Boy was killed on Instagram Live.

Afterward, he explained that the lyrics are old and their release was simply bad timing on his part: “I been wrote those bars, those bars been in my phone since May or April. Yesterday, I decided to put the shit out on the Live, bad timing on my behalf. I feel n***as, n***as feel like I disrespected somebody but it’s really just bad timing. On me, I’ma get with the big homies, some of the lil homies and I’ma get with blood’s family and help bury blood and throw some chips his way for the funeral.”

The reigning Super Bowl MVP dropped a few more details following the Bucs’ mandatory minicamp in June:

“It was an injury I dealt with really since last, you know, April, May. I knew I would have to do something at the end of the year and happy I did it and it was probably something that certainly needed to be done and there was a great outcome so I’m very happy about that. I feel like there’s some things I’ll be able to do this year that I wasn’t able to do last year.”

On his torn MCL, Brady threw for 4,633 yards with 40 touchdowns while leading the Bucs to a Super Bowl win.

As for recovery, Brady is expected to be a full participant for the start of training camp.

Twitter Says Goodbye To Its Fledgling “Fleet” Feature

Since countless people spend their days on social media, popular platforms like Instagram and Twitter are constantly looking to innovate their apps and improve the user experience. As a result, there have been updates like Twitter’s infamous — and racially biased — crop feature as well as Instagram’s polarizing decision to allow users to hide like counts. Naturally, every new social media feature isn’t going to be immediately met with open arms, but some horrible updates have actually caused a social media platform to go back to the drawing board entirely.

Now, in one of the most noticeable social media flubs in recent memory, Twitter has ironically decided to make its “Fleet” feature disappear in an astounding eight months after its launch in 2020. According to The Verge, the disappearing tweet format is shutting down due to low usage starting on August 3.

Instead of “Fleets,” the blatant ripoff of Instagram’s story feature that HNHH once predicted could be a massive success, Twitter’s new “Spaces” feature will now occupy the top section of the Twitter timeline. According to The Verge, Twitter also sees the failure of the “Fleet” feature as a failure to welcome more users onto the social media platform altogether.

Ilya Brown, Twitter’s vice president of product, spoke on the decision to end “Fleets” in a statement, saying, “We hoped Fleets would help more people feel comfortable joining the conversation on Twitter. But, in the time since we introduced Fleets to everyone, we haven’t seen an increase in the number of new people joining the conversation with Fleets like we hoped.”

“If we’re not evolving our approach and winding down features every once in a while – we’re not taking big enough chances,” Brown continued. “We’ll continue to build new ways to participate in conversations, listening to feedback and changing direction when there may be a better way to serve people using Twitter.”

However, the beloved social media platform doesn’t appear to feel too defeated by the setback. Twitter’s official Twitter account even joked about the mixed reception of the feature in a tweet that confirmed that “Fleets” were a done deal, saying, “we’re removing Fleets on August 3, working on some new stuff…we’re sorry or you’re welcome.”

Are you sad to see “Fleets” disappear so soon? And do you think that Twitter’s Clubhouse-esque “Spaces” feature is any better?

EST Gee Announces The Release Date Of His ‘Bigger Than Life Or Death’ Mixtape

Memphis rap don Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group (CMG) is set for a rap takeover this year. Not only has the label’s other Memphis artist Moneybagg Yo dominated the Billboard albums chart (A Gangsta’s Pain went No. 1 for two weeks upon release and is currently outpacing both mainstays like J. Cole and upstart fan favorites like Rod Wave and Pooh Shiesty) but its rising stars 42 Dugg and EST Gee are receiving increased attention for their work with hitmakers like Roddy Ricch and Jack Harlow.

While Dugg’s Free Dem Boyz tape earned him a top 10 debut and presaged his appearance in the 2021 XXL Freshman class, EST Gee — who signed in January this year, just announced his own highly anticipated mixtape Bigger Than Life Or Death, sharing its tracklist and release date (July 20) on social media, a little over a month after releasing the title track.

The tape is a clear bid for greater mainstream recognition, boasting feature appearances from big-name artists like Future, Lil Baby (who helped spotlight both Dugg and Gee on his last album), Lil Durk, Pooh Shiesty, and Young Thug. Naturally, fellow CMG-ers Dugg and Gotti also appear on multiple tracks, as well. Provided the tape receives the level of response it’s primed to, EST Gee could very well be the next member of the fast-rising rap crew to see his name near the top of the charts and one step closer to claiming a Freshman spot of his own.

Bigger Than Life Or Death is due 7/20 via CMG and Interscope. Pre-save it here.

Dictionary.com Adds New Words Including “Yeet”, “Zaddy” & “Deplatforming”

You may have never imagined “zaddy” to be at the back of a dictionary, but now it is.

Dictionary.com has added over 300 new words ranging from terms created as a result of COVID-19, to updating basic slang.

John Kelly, the managing editor of Dictionary.com, understands the need to keep the online dictionary an ever-evolving document of information. “It’s a complicated and challenging society we live in, language changes to help us grapple with it,” he said in an interview with CNN.

COVID-19 influenced the addition of “long COVID”: a condition characterized by symptoms or health problems that linger or first appear after supposed recovery from an acute phase of COVID-19 infection and “long hauler” : a person who experiences symptoms or health problems that linger or first appear after supposed recovery from an associated acute illness or active infection. amongst the medical terms added.

A shift in cultural awareness created the need to define terms such as “Cultural Appropriation”: the adoption, usually without acknowledgment, of cultural identity markers from subcultures or minority communities into mainstream culture by people with a relatively privileged status. On that same token, we see the inclusion of “deplatforming”: to prohibit (a person or people) from sharing their views in a public forum, especially by banning a user from posting on a social media website or application.

Among the lighter definitions– slang words such as “snack,” (a sexy and physically attractive person; hottie), “zaddy” (an attractive man who is also stylish, charming, and self-confident), and “yeet” (an exclamation of enthusiasm, approval, triumph, pleasure, joy, etc) all joined the Dictionary.com ranks.

Any surprises here?
