August Alsina Tells A Touching Story With “Pretty” Music Video

All the way back in June, August Alsina came through with his project The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy which had a whopping 27 songs, including the single “Pretty” which was a lovely song that immediately grabbed people’s attention. On Thursday, Alsina decided to drop the music video for the track and the entire production was directed by the likes of Megan Gomez. As you will immediately find out, the video has an inspiring message as it shows visuals of women who have been through extremely tough times but always strive to persevere, no matter what.

This message fits the lyrics quite perfectly as Alsina sings “Lord knows, only the Lord knows, how you’ve been through so much but you keep it so cold, and you hold it all inside, you don’t let a thing go, I know that you seen it all but you still never told.” There is a lot of emotion to be felt here and overall, the artistic choices come together beautifully.

Joel Embiid Makes Massive Donation Ahead Of All-Star Game

Joel Embiid has become one of the biggest sports stars in Philadelphia and his play on the court reflects someone who is already a superstar in his own right. On Sunday, Embiid will get to take part in the NBA All-Star Game in Atlanta and as a bonus, Embiid will receive $100,000. However, Embiid has decided to redirect this new income into a good cause, as he will be officially giving it to various charities around Philadelphia that are mainly centered around homelessness.

According to ESPN, Embiid will be donating to Project HOME, Sunday Breakfast Mission, and Youth Service Inc. His contributions will lead to thousands of meals, medical care for the homeless, and even clothes being provided. It’s a great initiative that demonstrates what kind of person Embiid is.

“So many have fallen on such hard times during the pandemic,” Embiid said. “I felt it was important to provide more support for individuals and families struggling with homelessness and food insecurity. I’m continually grateful for all of the support that Philadelphia and the fans have given me not just around All-Star but all my years in the league. I will continue to help in any way I can.”

Embiid’s new contributions will go a very long way to making a difference in the community. It has become obvious that Embiid wants to make long-term commitments to the city, and we’re sure 76ers fans are appreciative of what he’s doing.

Halle Bailey Does Cardi B’s “Up” Challenge

By now, many of us are used to seeing Chloe Bailey show off some thirst traps on Instagram and TikTok. It’s much more rare, however, that we see the other half of the sister duo showing off her moves. Halle tends to be considered the more reserved or “innocent” one of R&B duo ChloexHalle, especially as she is slated to portray Ariel in an upcoming adaptation of Disney’s The Little Mermaid

On Friday night, however, Halle took to her TikTok to show off some dance moves she had learned to Cardi B’s newest single “Up.” The song is part of a recent challenge moving around the app where users dance to the track, and Halle posed in front of her window in her pajamas in the video. She even showed off her twerking skills to the camera, seeming to just be having fun and promoting positivity.

what i do on friday nights 😂 #upchallenge

This week, Halle and Chloe have had to stick by one another more than ever when faced with comments from Beyoncé’s father Mathew Knowles that called anyone comparing Chloe to Beyonce an “idiot.” “Are there people saying her talent is equal to Beyonce? They’re idiots. That’s actually insulting to Beyoncé,” he added. Halle stepped in to defend Chloe, tweeting, “How amazing is it that @ChloeBailey is already an icon. Just popped in to say that … i ride for my sister till the enddd okayyyy.”

How sweet! Lots of sisterly love between this duo.

Eminem Drops His Video For ‘Tone Deaf’ As Young TikTok Users Look To Cancel Him Over Past Songs

Eminem has had his fair share of controversy since his breakout 1998 album, The Slim Shady LP. Now he’s caught the ire of young TikTokers who’ve recently discovered his older songs. But their complaints have been brushed off by older fans, who were more acquainted with his catalog.

In a series of TikTok videos that were posted earlier this week, Eminem supporters declared that it’s a bit too late to try and cancel the rapper. The back and forth was labeled as a war between Millennials and Gen-Z, with the former coming to Eminem’s defense as the latter aimed to bring him down. As all of this went on, Eminem himself kept quiet, even as his name trended on Twitter. That changed on Friday when the rapper released a lyric video for his Music To Be Murdered By track “Tone Deaf,” which serves as a pretty obvious shot at his critics.

He announced the video on Twitter by using a pair of lines from the song. “I won’t stop even when my hair turns grey (I’m tone-deaf) / ‘Cause they won’t stop until they cancel me,” he wrote in the tweet.

Two months ago Eminem said he wasn’t worried about cancel culture. “With me, it’s literally like every f*cking every other day,” he said during an appearance on Shade45. “I understand some of the sh*t but for the most part like for people who just sit online and they feel like they need to b*tch about whatever it is to feel like they’re a part of something. With cancel culture, it’s like no one ever really gets canceled though.”

Gucci Mane’s Artist K Shiday Fires Shots At Asian Doll On “Back In Blood” Freestyle

Every few months, there’s one beat that’s so undeniable that the rest of the rap game can’t help but jump on it and offer their own renditions of it. Pooh Shiesty’s “Back In Blood” is currently that song but it still hasn’t ruined the original (hopefully). It’s slowly turning into a beat that many are using to air out their grievances towards their opps, be it in the streets or in the music industry.

1017’s K Shiday is the latest to tackle the beat but this time around, she had a few words for an artist that was formerly part of the 1017 roster: Asian Doll. Shiday’s latest offering doesn’t mention any specific names but Asian Doll seemingly fits the description of the barrage of bars Shiday lets off. The 1017 artist later took to Instagram to confirm that it was Asian that she’s speaking to.

It’s unclear where the rift between the two began but one might think it would have something to do with Asian Doll rapping, “If it weren’t for Asian Doll, then none of you hoes won’t have no chains,” on her own “Back In Blood” remix. “On a Shiesty beat, you trying to be 1017 so bad,” Shiday fires back on the record.

Peep the song below.

Quotable Lyrics
Bitches fallin’ out for likes
Don’t play with dogs, I play with TECs
Bitch you made they took that chain from you
I got it ’round my neck
Real bare face with the 150
Make a bitch sick off emojis
Can’t no money fix that body, bitch
You still shaped a lil’ funny

Maia Chaka Makes History As First Black Woman To Become An NFL Official

Over these past few years, the NFL has been making real strides to make the sport more inclusive, while also delivering a more diverse officiating crew. For instance, over the last few years, various women have been elevated in the sport and some have even been given the chance to officiate a Super Bowl. Now, the NFL has announced their latest hire, Maia Chaka, who just so happens to be the first black woman hired as an NFL official.

This is a historic achievement for Chaka, who has been working tirelessly over the last few years to make it to the league. She has been doing a lot of work with the NCAA and was even a part of the AAF during their short run back in 2019. Upon learning the news, Chaka issued a statement on the matter.

“I am honored to be selected as an NFL official,” Chaka said. “But this moment is bigger than a personal accomplishment. It is an accomplishment for all women, my community, and my culture.”

It remains to be seen what kind of rolls Chaka will have on the field, although it’s clear that her presence will provide representation that can inspire a young generation to follow in her footsteps.

Pharrell Opens South Beach Hotel With Miami Entrepreneur David Grutman

Once you reach a certain level of celebrity, it becomes less important to continue reaching for fame and more important how you aim to cement your legacy. Diddy and Jay-Z are both titular examples of this, with each of them multiplying their wealth in enormous ways by expanding their reach beyond the music industry to other entrepreneurial endeavors. Pharrell is another musical heavyweight who has expanded his reach beyond the industry, launching his popular street style brand Billionaire Boys Club back in 2005. His latest venture is opening up a South Beach Hotel ‘The Goodtime’ with Miami nightlife king David Grutman.

The project has been three years in the making now, with delays stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a new interview the pair did with Ocean Drive magazine however, the pandemic proved to ultimately be in their best interest.

“The Goodtime will light up this community,” the Neptunes producer promised. “People are going to be inspired by what we’re doing here. It will be good energy, good vibrations, good space and, of course, a good time.”

As the name suggests, Grutman explained the hotel will be a vibrant experience. “Pharrell said to me, ‘I think we should name it The Goodtime as one word—and really change the narrative,’” he said. “That’s been our whole vision for everything we’re doing. [In recent years], Washington Avenue has not been thought of as the star. We want to change that—this won’t be a place to just lay your head.”

Rooms start at $260 and booking is available on their site right now for the month of April. Would you be down to stay at The Goodtime? Let us know down in the comments.

1017’s Big Scarr Steps Out Of The Bando On “Traphouse”

The 1017 machine is moving with force in 2021. Over the past few years, Gucci Mane has been working his magic to reestablish 1017 as one of the hottest record labels in rap as it was before his incarceration. A few artists have come and went, but recent signees like Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano have shown a promising future for Gucci’s imprint.

This week, Big Scarr slid through with a menacing new banger titled, “Traphouse.” Fueled by eerie pianos and a heavy bass, Scarr tackles the beat, offering vivid descriptions of a day in the life in the traphouse. The new single serves as his follow-up to “I Would Keep Goin” that he released last month.

Big Scarr has yet to release his debut project but with the release of his last two singles, it feels like Gucci Mane is setting him up for success.

Quotable Lyrics
Catch opposite, have ’em runnin’ like a cheetah
Real trap n***a, chargin’ pounds for a feature
I was in the field, you was sittin’ in the bleachers
Blue cheese bankroll, pockets Velveeta

YN Jay & Lil Pump Get Nasty On “Big Hoes”

YN Jay and Lil Pump definitely don’t hold back on their new song “Big Hoes.” On the short track, the duo diss fat girls and get graphic about having sex with women. Lil Pump raps, “Bend her over, put her face down on the concrete / Before you go to sleep, bitch, you gotta take this long meat.” Enrgy Beats produced the track, which dropped alongside a music video produced by NTRO4K out of Miami.

Both YN Jay and Lil Pump have been in the public eye quite a lot recently, but not for the same reasons. YN Jay has recently found substantial fame on TikTok, where several of his songs, including “Triple S,” “COOCHIE,” and “Smoove Dude” have gone viral. “Triple S” has more than 200,000 videos made with the song on the app, some of them having close to 1 million likes. Not many people knew about YN Jay prior to 2020, so his popularity on the video-sharing app has been a marker of success.

Lil Pump has become a bit of a controversial figure in rap in recent months after he endorsed Trump, despite not even registering to vote. Within weeks, the rapper lost more than 300,000 followers. Back in December, Lil Pump heavily dissed prolific rapper Eminem, saying that he was “lame as hell” and that “nobody[‘s] listening” to him. This certainly didn’t help his career either, but it seems as though he’s trying to make a comeback.

Listen to the track and watch the new music video below.

Quotable Lyrics
My auntie sellin’ pussy out in 79th street
This ratchet bitch from G5 said “Nut inside me”
I got three snow bunnies with me, but they won’t leave
I just slashed her tires and I took both of they car keys
