Master P’s Brother C-Murder Claims Sealed Documents Hold Clues To His Freedom

Former No Limit rapper and brother of Master P, C-Murder, has been serving a life sentence behind bars for his alleged role in the murder of teenager Steve Thomas back in 2002. From the jump, C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, has said he didn’t do it, and now he believes there’s real evidence out there that’s being purposely withheld that proves it.

In the wake of some major twists in his trial, which a witness is now saying he didn’t do it, C-Murder claims there are sealed documents that hold the clues to his freedom. In a press release from his publicist on Wednesday, obtained by HipHopDX, C-Murder alleges the existence of 31 concealed documents showing an illegal DNA cover-up that was not shown or presented during his trial.

He claims that when his DNA was run through the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) database, a match was found but the District Attorney directed that the data be taken out of the system and for it be marked as a forensic unknown. Miller is asking for a full investigation into “the corruption that led to his current incarceration” and that the press files a motion for the 31 documents to be given to him and his legal team. Of course, the courts don’t want that to happen and are reportedly fighting against the release of these documents.

“Half my life has been stolen by the Louisiana Judicial System and it stops now!” C-Murder said.

In addition, the press release claims C-Murder is partaking in a hunger strike at the moment in protest of the medical neglect that he and other inmates have been facing since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Since the onset of COVID-19, they have continued placing the inmates that have tested positive for the virus in the dorms with inmates that were COVID-19 negative,” he says. “This has not only spread the virus but has caused abnormally long quarantine times.”

We’ll continue to keep you posted on updates moving forward.

Fredo Bang Announces New Album: “Murder Made Me”

A few weeks ago, rising rapper Fredo Bang’s entire world was turned upside down when he was arrested ahead of his Rolling Loud performance due to an outstanding a from Louisiana. As previously reported, both Fredo and Lit Yoshi were detained in Miami, and it is believed that their arrests could have possibly stemmed from the 2019 shooting involving NBA YoungBoy which took place in Sunny Isles Beach.

DaBaby Blackballed From Radio As “Levitating” Gets Pulled From Station Rotation

Following the industry-wide removal of DaBaby from music festival lineups around the world, the music industry has officially switched gears in its response to the KIRK rapper’s recent homophobic comments. Now, in addition to the festival cancellations, DaBaby will also feel the weight of his actions by experiencing a massive reduction in radio play.

According to Billboard, radio programmers like Audacy  have made the decision to remove DaBaby and Dua Lipa’s song “Levitating” from the airwaves “in light of [his] homophobic statements.”

The Dua Lipa and DaBaby collaboration was released last August, but the track has remained popular well into 2021. However, Billboard reports that “Levitating” has started to take a hit following DaBaby’s controversial Rolling Loud set last month, as the percentage of radio stations that aired the song has dropped from 70.2% to 49.5% over the past 10 days. Many stations across the country have since reverted back to playing the original version of “Levitating” that only featured Dua Lipa.

While data proves that radio stations and streaming playlist curators have made the effort to stop promoting the DaBaby-assisted version of “Levitating,” the track still sits at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. According to Uproxx, if the original version of “Levitating” does end up becoming the most prominent version of the song in terms of charting activity, it is possible for DaBaby’s credit to be removed from the song as it appears on the Hot 100 and other charts.

The Weeknd’s “Take My Breath” Video Pulled From Imax Theaters Rollout

The Weeknd is getting ready to premiere a new single this week, along with a new music video titled “Take My Breath,” which was first teased during the Olympics last week in a commercial. Dropping Friday, the plan was for Abel’s camp to roll out the music video on Imax Theaters ahead of The Suicide Squad movie, which is also releasing Thursday night at midnight, but unfortunately that’s not happening any more.

TMZ reports that the decision-makers over at IMAX have decided to pull plug on the video, citing the light and strobe effects have the potential to be dangerous to those watching with epilepsy and who might be prone to seizures.

Thankfully for fans the video will still drop on YouTube and other platforms right at midnight, but Abel is losing out on a shit ton of eyeballs who would’ve seen the video for free before the movie otherwise.

“Take My Breath” is the first release from The Weeknd’s upcoming album. “It’s the album I’ve always wanted to make,” he told GQ of the follow-up to 2020’s After Hours.

Check out the snippet (below) and look for more music from Abel to be on the way. Who’s excited for The Weeknd’s new album?

Eminem Contributes To A $30 Million Investment In An NFT Marketplace

Detroit icon Eminem has been one of the biggest proponents of the emerging technology of non-fungible tokens, auctioning off an NFT collection of comics, action figures, trading cards, and beats this past April. The collection drew in nearly $2 million in one weekend — which might be the reason why Eminem is now looking to invest further into the tech, announcing his participation in a $30 million round of fundraising for MakersPlace, an NFT marketplace where users can buy and sell the digital artwork.

MakersPlace, launched in 2018, announced the results of its fundraising efforts on its website, noting that Eminem was joined by other notable investors including his long-time manager Peter Rosenberg, NFL player Larry Fitzgerald, and Sony Music Entertainment. You’d have to imagine that now that Eminem and his co-investors have seen the money to be made selling NFTs, they’d want a piece of the digital forums that host the sales as well.

MakersPlace might be one of the most lucrative options. In March, Beeple sold “EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 DAYS,” a digital work created for Christie’s via MakersPlace, for the most expensive total an NFT sale has garnered to date, over $69 million.

Other artists to get into the NFT game include The Weeknd, Jack White, Gorillaz, and Jay-Z.
