YNW Melly & Lil Tjay Get In Their Feelings On “Best Friend”

Over the past several months, YNW Melly has been releasing a generous amount of music, especially for someone who is currently on trial for the murder of two men that he considered his best friends. Today, the controversial 22-year-old artist confirmed that even more music is set to come out in the coming week, as his next studio album, Just A Matter Of Slime, is set to release on Friday, August 13.

Ahead of his album’s release, YNW Melly has released “Best Friend” with Lil Tjay. The long-awaited collaboration leaked earlier in the summer, so now, fans who have been avoiding the leaks for months can finally enjoy the official version of the anticipated new Melly and Tjay track.

The brief, 2:39 track serves as a short but sweet collaboration between two of Florida and New York’s finest from this new generation of Hip-Hop artists. Built upon an insanely infectious hook by YNW Melly, “Best Friend” is a moody and sentimental song that’s both expertly crafted and incredibly catchy.

Just A Matter Of Slime is just a week away, so get ready for YNW Melly’s forthcoming album by listening to his long-awaited Lil Tjay collaboration below.

Quotable Lyrics

Puerto Rican and she straight up outta North Atlanta
Say she love me ’cause she know she fuck with G Shine
Grew up thuggin’ with them killers on the boulevard (The boulevard)
But she pull up on Lil’ Melly in the mean time
That’s my wife (My wife), that’s my best-bestfriend (My bestfriend)
I will never, lie or pretend

Kid Cudi Said Even He Hadn’t Heard The Final Mix Of His ‘Donda’ Collab Until Last Night

Kid Cudi and Kanye have been friends and collaborators for years now — even recently releasing a whole joint album together as Kids See Ghosts — so it’s no surprise that Cudi would show up on Kanye’s new project, Donda. And though plenty of artists trust Kanye with creative freedom, it seems the last-minute preparations for the album are so down to the wire that Cudi hadn’t heard the final version of the pair’s collaboration on the record. “Havent heard the final this is new to me too!!” he wrote on Twitter as fans were excitedly posting clips from the live streaming event.

He later clarified that he knew he was on the album, just hadn’t heard final mixes of the track. “I knew!” he reassured a fan. “Just didnt hear final mixes.”

The song is reportedly called “Moon” and also includes vocals from Don Tolliver, although it seems like even those details might be subject to change before the album is actually finally released. Check out some clips and snippets of the song below and keep an eye out for the ever-shifting Donda release date. Hey, there’s always the Round Jacket pre-order aka the red jacket Yeezy wore at the first listening to hold the super fans over if needed.

Yeezy Fans Can Now Buy A Red Jacket Like The One He Wore At The First ‘Donda’ Listening

For years now, Kanye’s clothing designs have been just as important to the rapper and producer as his music, and he cut a striking figure at a recent Donda listening event in a bright red jacket, which is part of the Yeezy Gap collection. Retail expert, Mickey Drexler, who formerly worked at Gap, raised eyebrows when he said in an interview he thought the partnership was a risky one, and actually advised Gap against partnering with Kanye. But perhaps Gap saw something Drexler didn’t, because the jacket reportedly sold out, racking up over $7 million in one night, presumably the first night of the Donda listening.

For those looking for a similar style to the jacket that sold out a pre-order link for another Yeezy jacket is now live, dubbed the “Round Jacket” and available for the surprisingly reasonable price of $200, is right here. This is a pre-order link with a slated ship date for 2022. At a second listening event last night, Kanye played a revised and refined version of the Donda album he shared in late July, but despite promises the project would be available for fans today, it’s still not quite live on streaming services. An Apple Music pre-order for a 24-track version of the album now has a date of tomorrow, August 7th, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for that. Either way, it seems new music is finally going to be in fan’s hands soon. And in the meantime, they can order the jacket to tide them over.

Post Malone Became A Key Investor In The Plant-Based Burger Company Actual Veggies

Post Malone hasn’t been shy about partnering with brands he supports, from Crocs shoes to Monster Energy Drink, but today his management team’s venture arm, Electric Feel Ventures, has taken a major stake in a plant-based burger company, Actual Veggies. According to the Vegconomist, the veggie burger company has only been around since last March, but they’ve already raised $2.8 million including the previous round of funding and total contributions.

The brand differs from competitors in one key way — instead of trying to look like meat or imitate its flavor, their patties are designed to look and taste like the vegetables or other ingredients they’re made from. The four offerings so far include a black bean base, a sweet potato base, a beet base, and a “green” burger that features kale, spinach, and broccoli.

“Since we launched the company, it’s been an incredible whirlwind and despite the challenges of 2020, we made it a reality,” the co-founder and co-CEO of Actual Veggies, Hailey Swartz, told Vegconomist. “The growth we have seen over the past few months far exceeded our expectations as we expanded nationally with partners including Sprouts Farmers Market, HungryRoot, Imperfect Foods, Sunbasket, QVC, and FreshDirect. We are humbled by our new partners’ shared excitement and look forward to building off our success to further scale Actual Veggies.”

Maybe this means the plant-based offerings will be available on-site at Posty Fest this year!

Nas, Eminem, & EPMD Form Rap Vanguard On “EPMD 2”

Last night Nas and Hit-Boy reunited to deliver King’s Disease 2, and based on early first impressions, the project is certainly befitting of the first one’s Grammy-winning legacy. With plenty of lyricism to unpack, one of the early highlights is — perhaps unsurprisingly — “EPMD 2,” a collaboration with EPMD and Eminem.

Though Slim and Esco have indeed worked together on “The Cross,” this one marks the first time they have actually rapped on the same track. As two of rap’s most esteemed lyricists, there was plenty of hype going into this one; some wondered whether “Eminem would murder Nas on his own shit,” while others feared that Eminem’s rapid-fire flow would prove a distraction. Evidently, the doubters had nothing to fear, as everyone involved in “EPMD 2” seemed to stand in unspoken agreement.

After warming up with a brief back-and-forth verse from Erick Sermon and PMD, Nas takes to Hit-Boy’s unrelenting instrumental with a purpose. Fans will no doubt appreciate his allusions to Hip-Hop Is Dead, as Nas takes things full circle by lifting the curtain: it actually “faked its own death like Makaveli.” He segues effortlessly into Eminem, who uses the opportunity to pay homage to hip-hop’s lost ones and GOAT contenders, all while putting on a flow clinic as he’s wont to do.

Check out “EPMD 2” now, and be sure to stream King’s Disease 2 right here.

Kanye West & Jay Z’s “Watch The Throne 2” Reportedly Dropping End Of This Year

It looks like the sequel to Watch The Throne may actually be on the way. Two weeks ago, during Kanye West’s first listening event for Donda, fans were treated to a surprise guest feature from non other than Jay Z, who teased the idea of Watch The Throne 2 in his raps. Jay rapped: “Hol’ up, Donda, I’m with your baby when I touch back road / Told him, ‘Stop all of that red cap, we goin’ home’ / Not me with all of these sins, casting stones / This might be the return of The Throne (Throne).”

Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the final confirmation of both the song, and the possibility of a Watch The Throne 2 album, and now according social media personality and Kanye-affiliate, Justin Laboy, the latter is in the works.

Right before last night’s second listening event for Donda, Justin took to twitter to inform fans that Watch The Throne 2 is dropping at the end of the year. “Watch The Throne 2 coming end of the year. Kanye & Hov about to make history AGAIN.”

He added that the two superstar’s passion for making music is still there and they want to make the fans happy. “YES. HOV & YE back building again. They both rich enough to quit rapping, but the passion they share of making the fans happy got them back working.”

Neither West nor Hov have publicly confirmed this rumor, but Justin Laboy seems to be a rather credible source considering his proximity to Kanye’s camp, especially during this DONDA roll out. However, well have to wait to see if what he says is actually true.

Who’s down for the Watch The Throne sequel?

Kanye West Shares Pre-Order For New Yeezy x Gap Jacket

Following the “Countdown to Donda” event on Apple Music, Thursday night, Kanye West shared the pre-order link for another jacket from the YEEZY x GAP partnership. This time around, fans can purchase a red variant of the Round Jacket, which West has been seen wearing at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the build-up to the release of Donda.

The unisex jacket costs $200 and is expected to ship in Spring 2022. The similar blue Round Jacket sold out nearly immediately after its release on West’s birthday, in June.

Earlier this week, former GAP CEO Mickey Drexler, who worked with the company between 1992 and 2002, said it was unwise for both GAP and West to partner up.

“I told him he shouldn’t do the deal because it doesn’t make any sense in my opinion,” Drexler said, referring to a conversation he had with West. “It doesn’t work for someone like Kanye. He is not a corporate person and Gap is a big corporation.

“He is a smart guy but he shouldn’t have done it. And I don’t think they [Gap] should have done it, either,” he added.
