Lil Durk Gets Roasted Online After Throwing Out First Pitch At Cubs’ Game

The Chicago Cubs welcomed hometown rapper Lil Durk to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at their game against their intracity rival, Chicago White Socks, Sunday night. The pitch was roasted by fans online after Durk missed home plate.

“The love I receive is undeniable fr,” Durk, who recently announced he would no longer be name-dropping the dead, wrote on Twitter after throwing out the pitch.

The stadium may have shown love, but fans online were, at time, ruthless.

“He can slide for first base but he can’t even slide for Von,” one fan responded to the throw.

Another wrote: “It blows my mind how many people can’t throw a ball. Wtf did y’all do as kids?”

Despite professionals making it look easy, first pitches have been historically difficult for celebrities. Some fans were quick to compare Durk’s throw to 50 Cent’s infamous whiff back in 2014, which is widely considered to be one of the worst of all time.

“50 Cent has entered the chat,” one user on Twitter joked after seeing Durk’s throw.

Check out the first pitch and responses to it below.

Lil Durk Nearly Pulled A 50 Cent With His First Pitch At White Sox-Cubs

Being invited to throw out the first pitch before an MLB game is a cool honor, but it also can be a nerve-wracking experience if you don’t have a lot of baseball experience. It seems simple enough: throw the ball 55 or so feet from in front of the mound and get it over the plate, but those that haven’t thrown a ball in awhile come to learn the hard way that it’s very different from their few warmup tosses in the tunnel before going out there.

Really bad first pitches aren’t just embarrassing, but can become a lasting part of someone’s legacy. 50 Cent is the best example of that and still has the first pitch to which all bad first pitches are compared to, as he fired a ball a good 20 feet wide of the plate. He’s far from the only star of the sports or entertainment world to have a dreadful first pitch experience, but his is the lasting example of a disaster.

On Sunday, we got another entry into the bad first pitch category from a rapper, as Lil Durk threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field before Cubs-White Sox and had the poor Cubs mascot diving in vain for a ball that bounced outside the batter’s box.

The good news for Lil Durk is that he’s focusing on the positives of the love he got, not the jokes from Twitter.

It’s not quite 50 Cent, who barely threw it into the dirt area around home plate, but it is a pretty terrible effort. I’m sure Lil Durk hasn’t exactly spent a lot of time throwing baseballs recently, but it should serve as a reminder to managers everywhere that if your client isn’t someone that throws a ball often, there’s no shame in turning down a first pitch opp to keep them from going viral.

“Annette” Director Says Rihanna Almost Starred Opposite Adam Driver

Rihanna was supposed to star opposite a puppet in Annette, the new film starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard, according to the movie’s director. Leos Carax told USA Today in an interview following the release of Annette that he had specifically written the role for her.

“It was a small part written specifically for her,” Carax said. “She was supposed to play Rihanna.”

The Fenty Beauty business mogul was planned to sing for a duet later in the movie: “When Baby Annette becomes famous, there was a duet between the puppet and Rihanna. But then Rihanna feels upstaged by this baby.”

Early in the casting process, it was reported that Rihanna had signed on to perform, but shortly after her reps stated that she was no longer involved.

Carax said it was better to scrap the scene rather than to recast the Anti singer.

Appearing in Annette would’ve been yet another business move for Rihanna, who recently achieved billionaire status according to Forbes.

Funchess told reporters that he could tell they were smiling behind their masks by using an anti-Asian slur.

“I can talk to people now,” he began. “I like smiles.”

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst spoke about the incident afterward saying that the behavior is “very unacceptable and certainly doesn’t live up to the standards and values of the Green Bay Packers.”

This will be Funchess’s first time playing in the NFL in two seasons after he took the COVID-19 opt-out and did not play in 2020 and missed all of 2019 while suffering from injury. Funchess was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2015.

DDG Shares New “Lusted” Track

DDG has returned with his latest single.

Dropping it off as an impromptu release on Sunday, the Michigan-rapper reverts this melodic delivery to hop on “Lusted,” which finds him detailing the pain of heartbreak. The piano-driven effort is pieced together by a host of producers that include TreOnTheBeat as DDG floats in vulnerability.

It marks his first official release since the arrival of his and OG Parker’s joint Die 4 Respect album that arrived last June. The effort hosted his “Moonwalking in Calabasas” hit and produced new favorites like the Lil Yachty-assisted “Rule #1” and “Hood Melody,” featuring NBA YoungBoy. The project peaked at No. 61 on the charts while “Moonwalking” has since gone Platinum.

Dig into “Lusted” below.

Quotable Lyrics
Don’t trust nothin’, they betrayed me, I hate that
You was zoomin’, I don’t, I state straight facts
All that cash spent on you, I’m gon’ make back
Got my mind movin’ fast like a race track

Wack 100 says Tekashi 6ix9ine tried to pay $25k to get an artist wristband so he could pull up to Rolling Loud. Wack says 6ix9ine planned to put a hoodie on and role into the event.

The comments come after he and Wack went at Jim Jones during their sit down on Clubhouse with 21 Savage. Jones was labeled a snitch.

On Saturday, Jones responded to the accusation: “Fuck Wack 100, you know what I’m saying? Fuck him and anybody that’s working with him, you heard me? That n***a a hoe. Him and the n***a he talkin’ to.”

“Ayo, Jim Jones, listen,” Wack replied. “I don’t know what your issue with me is, bro. The kid the one that called you a snitch. Facts is facts, my n***a. You gave an order and that order was carried out. You got gun cases in Virginia that nobody knows where they went. The fact that you had to have a n***a from jail call, right. And you on the street. You pussy, my n***a.”

DaBaby Seemingly Deleted His Apology To The LGBTQ Community From His Instagram Page

A week after he delivered a bizarre rant that included homophobic comments and attacks towards those with HIV/AIDS, DaBaby issued an apology for his words. “I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made,” he wrote. “Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.” Some questioned the sincerity of the apology, a charge that will seem even more legitimate now that he’s deleted it from his Instagram page.

A screenshot of DaBaby’s profile that was shared around social media confirmed that the post had gone missing. If DaBaby intentionally deleted the apology from his Instagram, it certainly won’t quell the scorn he’s received since his comments were disseminated online. Madonna, Elton John, Questlove, and Dua Lipa, who collaborated with him for a remix of “Levitating,” have all reprimanded the rapper for his rant.

Furthermore, DaBaby has seen his anticipated festival run for 2021 nearly become nonexistent as Lollapalooza, Governors Ball, Day N Vegas, Austin City Limits, and more have removed him from the lineups to their festivals this year.

Dua Lipa is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Isaiah Rashad’s “The House Is Burning” Debuts At No. 7

Isaiah Rashad has returned in his best form as his The House Is Burning project bows at No. 7 per HDD, marking the rapper’s first Top 10 outing on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The effort touched down last week with 16 tracks in tow, featuring names like SZA, Jay Rock, 6LACK, Lil Uzi Vert, and Smino among others.

“I put a lot of people whose music I like on specific songs that were more catered to them than to me,” he previously told GQ ahead of the album release. “I think that’s somewhat like being a director and treating myself, the rapper, as more of a character. Because at the end of the day, I’m more of a producer and director than anything else, I just happen to write the scripts too. The only actor who I can get to say these raps is myself right now.”

The outing is his third studio album, following up on 2016’s The Sun’s Tirade and officially putting an end to the hiatus from the TDE roster.

Further up on the chart, Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever debuts with 234,000 album units, giving the singer her second No. 1 outing, pushing The Kid Laroi’s F*CK LOVE project down to the second slot after making its move to No. 1 last week after a year on the charts.

No. 3 hosts Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR while Prince’s posthumous Welcome 2 America debuts at No. 4 for the late legend while Doja Cat closes out the Top 5 with Planet Her.

Baker Mayfield Praises Josh Allen’s Historic Contract: “Good For The Quarterback Position”

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield praised Josh Allen, Sunday, after the Bills star quarterback signed a historic six-year, $258 million extension. Mayfield referred to the deal as “good for the quarterback position overall.”

“I’d be lying if [I] said otherwise,” Mayfield explained at the team’s scrimmage at FirstEnergy Stadium. “But I’m worried about winning right now. … I think the rest will take care of itself.”

Allen’s deal includes $150 million in guaranteed money, passing Patrick Mahomes’s previous record for the most all-time with  $141.5 million guaranteed.

“I’m very happy for Josh,” Mayfield continued. “I think Josh is a great guy, going through [the draft] process with him. In a tradition-rich town like Buffalo, they’re lucky to have a quarterback like him, that cares about it that lives that same mindset that they do up in Buffalo.”

Both Mayfield and Allen were drafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, meaning both became extension-eligible this offseason. Mayfield was taken first overall, while Allen was selected with the seventh overall pick.

Mayfield added that his focus is currently on the field:

I’m not doing the negotiations, so quite frankly I don’t give a damn. I’m worried about winning Week 1, then going on to Week 2 and focusing on that week, one week at a time. And that’s my mindset. So no matter how many times I get asked this question throughout the year, it’s going to be the same answer because that’s just the truth.
