DaBaby’s Credit On Dua Lipa’s ‘Levitating’ Has Been Removed From Some ‘Billboard’ Charts

When last week’s Billboard charts were released, the publication noted that Dua Lipa’s DaBaby-featuring remix of “Levitating” saw a decrease in radio plays following the rapper’s recent controversy. The publication noted, “On July 25, 71% of its plays was via the remix; on July 29, the last day of the tracking week, the share dropped to 59%.” Now, it appears that share has fallen even further, as DaBaby is no longer credited on the song as it appears on Billboard‘s airplay charts this week (dated August 14).

A similar credit change happened last year when Nicki Minaj was removed from the Hot 100 listing for Doja Cat’s “Say So.” At the time, Billboard explained, “After two weeks of Minaj showing as a featured artist on ‘Say So’ on the Hot 100 and other charts that utilize the same methodology, only Doja Cat is now listed, as the original version, without Minaj, is now driving the majority of overall activity for the song; the change does not affect any of Minaj’s achievements on those charts the past two weeks, and she continues not to be credited on the song on any airplay charts, as the vast majority of the song’s airplay is still for the original version.”

The DaBaby version of the song is still doing on other charts, though: On this week’s Hot 100, it rose from No. 4 to No. 3, just one spot away from its all-time peak.

Dua Lipa is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Kanye West Is Reportedly Moving Into Another Stadium To Finish “DONDA”

By now, we’ve all seen the pictures of Kanye West’s minimalistic room at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The music legend moved into the stadium for a temporary residency, building a makeshift recording studio and bedroom in what appears to be a storage closet. He’s hosted two listening events at the stadium, hosting thousands of people and playing the album as it evolves. With no new information as to when DONDA will be released (August 15 is the current date suggested by Apple Music), the world is locked into ‘Ye’s unofficially spokespeople — AKA Instagram personality Justin LaBoy and rising artist KayCyy Pluto — for all of the latest news.

As anticipation builds for the release of “Hurricane” with The Weeknd and Lil Baby, which is set to serve as the first single and is already reportedly out in Japan and Russia, it’s being suggested that Kanye is moving into a new stadium as he finishes up the album.

The information comes from a since-deleted tweet by KayCyy, who wrote, “We moving to another stadium.” The artist did not reveal where they’re going to set up, but other Atlanta-area stadiums include the State Farm Arena, Truist Park, and Russ Chandler Stadium. It’s possible that Kanye is blessing another city with his pre-DONDA listening parties too.

As of now, nobody really knows what’s happening with DONDA. However, after last Thursday’s live stream, we’re all hyped up for what’s to come. Are you excited for the album to finally release? And where do you hope he’s headed to next?

“There is nothing I can write that will take away this pain. I have to say RIP to my mentor, my big brother, the man who changed my life forever. You were the kindest person the world has ever seen. You were the most gifted musician I have ever been around. You treated me like family from day one. You made a point to the labels that I had to fly to New York with you on every session. You put me in rooms with Biggie. I will forever be in your debt and I will forever be your little brother,” Guru wrote. “This one hurts so bad I can’t even explain it. RIP @chucklife365 there will never be another you!!!!”

Thompson played a pivotal role during Bad Boy’s heyday in the 90s. Having been a part of Diddy’s Hitmen in-house production team, Thompson’s production credits include Biggie’s “Big Poppa” & “Me & My Bitch” off of Ready To Die, Nas’ “One Mic, as well as Mary J. Blige’s My Lifewhich earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album in 1996.

Our hearts are with the family and friends of Chucky Thompson during these difficult times.

Machine Gun Kelly Announces His Album Title With A New Tattoo

Pop-punk is all the rage right now with Olivia Rodrigo and WILLOW both striving with their takes on the nostalgic music genre, and it looks like Machine Gun Kelly is officially ready to take on the sound once again with his next album.

After collaborating with Travis Barker for his latest studio album Tickets To My Downfall, the two have gotten back together for MGK’s next project, which was officially announced today. Much like with his last rollout, Machine Gun got the title of his next album tattooed to his skin for the announcement but this time, there was a twist. Travis Barker also got inked up for the reveal.

The two tattoo aficionados revealed that MGK’s next album will be called Born With Horns, getting those words tattooed on their arms. While it may be a bit of a reach, the title could be referring to Kelly’s infamous “Rap Devil” diss track for Eminem, which began his supposed “downfall” a few years ago. Of course, the downfall was a stretch, since the album ended up being his most successful one to date.

Already, rappers YG and Tyla Yaweh have expressed their excitement for the new music, and Travis Barker is clearly happy to have another go-around with MGK. Check out the announcement below and stay tuned for the first single from the project, which will be released on Wednesday with a video directed by Cole Bennett.

King Von’s Team Releases His Final Self-Conceptualized Music Video “Demon”

The final self-conceptualized music video from King Von’s album Welcome To O-Block has arrived for “Demon,” being released today for the late Chicago rapper’s twenty-seventh birthday.

The rapper was best known for being an authentic storyteller in his music, which he used to tell tales of his O-Block neighborhood. King Von had seen a lot in his young life and before he was tragically taken from the world, he planned out a series of music videos to be released from his new album. “Demon” is the last video to arrive from the project and it was the final visual that Von wrote a treatment for.

Depicting many of the events that Von references in his lyrics, including police encounters and shootings, the rapper uses his visuals to complement his story, unpeeling back more layers about the tale. This is the fourth video to arrive from Welcome To O-Block.

Earlier today, King Von’s ex-girlfriend Asian Doll released her new single “Don’t Let Me Go,” which is about her love for the late star. Check that out here.

Long Live King Von.
