Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson released a statement to his fans now that his Black Adam run is over. Don’t expect a sequel to arrive anytime soon.
Hitting social media, The Rock announced that Black Adam wouldn’t be present in the DC expanded cinematic universe that they are currently rolling out, which will be led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
“My passionate friends, I wanted to give you a long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe. James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.
James and I have known each other for years and have always rooted for each other to succeed,” he continued. “It’s no different now, and I will always root for DC (and Marvel) to win and WIN BIG. You guys know me, and I have very thick skin—and you can always count on me to be direct with my words. These decisions made by James and DC leadership represent their vision of DCU through their creative lens.”
On a recent episode of Maino’s podcast Kitchen Talk, Wu Tang Clan front man and actor Method Man delved into his weed smoking habit and how he had to bring it to a halt for the filming of one of his most famous acting roles as “Silas” on How High.
Maino asked the Iron Lung if the weed he smoked on set was real and Meth replied, “At first, yeah. Hell yeah! And they was like, ‘you guys are so spot on in the morning but after lunch you come back something’s different.’” He went on to say how producer Stacey Sher pulled him to the side and said “You know after this I’m gonna still be a producer, my face isn’t on the screen, but I’ll get my credit. That’s your face on the screen. How do you wanna be seen?”

Maverick is the first film of Cruise’s career to reach the $1 billion mark. With $701 million, Top Gun: Maverick is the fifth-highest-grossing film in domestic box office history.
Tyler Perry’s next Netflix film will be Six Triple Eight, a story about the 6888th battalion, the only all-black, all-female battalion in the World War II effort.
The film will be directed, produced and written by Perry and is based on an article by Kevin M. Hymel published in WWII History Magazine by Sovereign Media.
The film’s synopsis reads:
Six Triple Eight tells the inspiring true story of the incredible and brave women of the only all-black, all-female World War 2 Battalion. These 855 women joined the war effort with little knowledge of what exactly they would be doing, but were quickly given the mission of a lifetime: sort through and fix the three-year backlog of undelivered mail. A herculean task, that most thought to be impossible, the women not only succeeded but did it in half the time they were given. Facing discrimination, unfamiliar land, and a war-torn country, they persevered and sorted over 17 million pieces of mail, reconnecting American soldiers with their families and loved ones back home. The motto that kept them going each day was one they created themselves: “No Mail, Low Morale.” The women of the 6888 weren’t just delivering mail, they were delivering hope.
The 6888th Postal Directory Battalion’s narrative has been kept out of history books and out of the public spotlight until today, nearly 75 years later. On March 14, 2022, President Joe Biden signed legislation granting women the Congressional Gold Medal, Congress’ highest accolade.
Six Triple Eight will be Tyler Perry’s fourth Netflix feature, following A Fall From Grace, A Madea Homecoming, which debuted in the top ten in 43 countries, and A Jazzman’s Blues, which debuted in the top ten in 55. He also appeared in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, which is one of Netflix’s top ten most popular films.

Get ready for the return of Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter, as Rush Hour 4 is currently in the works.
According to Deadline, Jackie Chan was on hand at the Red Sea Film Festival on Thursday and detailed that the fourth film in the Rush Hour franchise is currently being discussed. Later Thursday evening, Chan stated he would go speak with the film’s director about the script.
“We’re talking about part 4 right now,” Chan said.
Chan did not reveal the director, but the three previous entries were guided by Brett Ratner, who hasn’t directed a film since 2014. In November 2017, Ratner was accused of sexual harassment and misconduct.
The original Rush Hour made $244 million worldwide.

Over the years, Spike Lee has been critical of Tyler Perry’s film and television work, specifically his Madea character.
While sitting with Chris Wallace, Perry is asked about Lee’s 2009 comments stating that the Madea character is “coonery buffoonery.”
“There’s a certain part of our society, especially Black people in the in the culture that, they look down on certain things within the culture,” Perry said. “For me, I love the movies that I’ve done because they are the people that I grew up with that I represent and they, like, my mother would take me in the projects with her on the weekends, she played cards with these women.
“So when someone says, you’re harkening back to a point in our life that we don’t want to talk about or we don’t want the world to see, you’re dismissing the stories of millions and millions of Black people, and that’s why I think it’s been so successful because it resonates with a lot of us who know these women.”
For film fans who wish to see a different style of Tyler Perry’s work. His new film, A Jazzman’s Blues, is now available on Netflix.
Speaking with PEOPLE, Perry reveals it’s the first screenplay he ever penned.
“I wrote it in 1995. It was the first screenplay I ever wrote,” Perry said. “The two characters are just trying to find their own way in the world. Initially, I wanted to play the lead role of Bayou, but that was 1995 — I aged out.”
He added, “I was in Atlanta struggling to make it. I was hungry, sleeping on my cousin’s couch, eventually getting put out and being homeless. I was trying to get my first play off the ground, and this screenplay just poured out of me. I held onto it for all of these years.”
The film’s synopsis reads:
A sweeping tale of forbidden love, A JAZZMAN’S BLUES unspools forty years of secrets and lies soundtracked by juke joint blues in the deep South. Written, directed and produced by Academy Award honoree Tyler Perry, the film stars Joshua Boone and Solea Pfeiffer as star-crossed lovers Bayou and Leanne alongside an ensemble cast that includes Amirah Vann, Austin Scott, Milauna Jemai Jackson, Brent Antonello, Brad Benedict, Kario Marcel, Lana Young and Ryan Eggold. The film features an original song performed by Ruth B., songs arranged and produced by multi-Grammy winner & two-time Academy Award nominee Terence Blanchard, music by Aaron Zigman and choreography by Debbie Allen.

According to Variety, Netflix picked up the rights in 2019 to release the next ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ movie, which is currently in production. The film will be the fourth installment in the action-comedy franchise with the third movie being released in 1994.
Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, but it’ll most likely follow Murphy’s character “Axel Foley” as he returns to 90210 to break open a new case. Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have reportedly been cast in the film as well.
Murphy is producing the movie with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman for Jerry Bruckheimer Films.
