Woman Accuses Chris Brown of Drugging Her on Diddy’s Yacht in Upcoming Documentary

Woman Accuses Chris Brown of Drugging Her on Diddy's Yacht in Upcoming Documentary

Chris Brown and Diddy are no strangers to legal troubles and it seems that their troublesome paths may have converged as an unnamed woman has accused Brown of drugging her on Diddy’s yacht in 2020.

The anonymous woman (who is referred to only as Jane Doe) made the allegations in the Investigation Discovery Documentary, Chris Brown: A History of Violence, which is set to debut on October 27. She alleges that she was living in Los Angeles at the time and had taken a trip to Miami where a friend invited her to a party on Diddy’s yacht in late December.

The woman, an aspiring dancer, claims that she briefly spoke with Brown before he gave her a drink. According to People, the woman claims that she had little memory of what happened next, saying, “I’m not even sure… this is when my memory starts getting a little bit weird….I don’t remember if I saw him pour it, but I just drank it and he just hands me another drink. As I’m standing there, I did start to feel tired and my body was feeling a little heavy.” She claims that the singer raped her and did not use protection. The two apparently communicated via text message following the incident.

According to People, Doe claims that she worked with a legal team to attempt to prosecute the case, but a judge ultimately dismissed the case “without prejudice” in 2022, citing “lack of prosecution,” according to court documents. Her lawyers dropped her as a client when police uncovered the text messages between her and Brown.

However, Doe is apparently now pursuing charges again via other avenues. She is represented by attorney Ariel Mitchell, who said in a statement: “I adore my client and I believe what happened to her is 100% true. I feel that I failed her as an attorney because I couldn’t make her comfortable enough with me in such a short period of time where she felt 100% comfortable being forthcoming with me.”

Meanwhile, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is currently being held in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center on racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. Neither Combs nor Brown’s representatives have commented on the most recent allegations.

The documentary, which explores Brown’s past allegations of abuse and run-ins with the law, is set to premier on October 27 on ID. It was made by the same production company that produced the docuseries Quiet On Set about the Nickelodeon child abuse scandal. Both pieces are part of the production company’s “No Excuse for Abuse” campaign.

Regina Taylor’s EXHIBIT Brings a Raw Look at America’s Racial Struggles to the Apollo Theater

The Apollo Theater’s Works in Process series continues this weekend with EXHIBIT, a one-woman play by the award-winning playwright and actor Regina Taylor. Presented as a reading at the Apollo’s Victoria Theater, EXHIBIT explores the enduring impact of racism, juxtaposing memories of the Civil Rights era with the unsettling revival of similar challenges in today’s America.

100924 96

The play follows Iris, a resilient artist who recalls her childhood during the tumultuous civil rights period and faces a new wave of racial and political struggles in present-day America. Iris’s art serves as her voice, a way to “testify” and hold the nation accountable. “This woman is triggered by what’s going on today, the politics,” Taylor shares. “She feels like things are moving forward, or are we moving back? It triggers her to think about her childhood, growing up in America and integrating the school in Muskogee, Oklahoma.”

100924 101

As Iris faces the realities of modern injustices, including fascism and the tragic deaths of young Black Americans like Trayvon Martin, she confronts the haunting sense that history is repeating itself. “It’s an exhibit in terms of witnessing, testifying, indicting America for the sacrifice of innocence for cards. And we keep doing it each and every time,” Taylor says. “Each generation has to fight for the gains that the past generation fought for.” This emotional journey invites audiences to consider whether society is truly progressing or reverting to past injustices.

100924 112

EXHIBIT is part of the Apollo New Works program, supported by the Ford Foundation, the Mellon Foundation, and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. This initiative provides a space for artists to challenge and reflect on pressing issues within our communities.

100924 117

Winner of the Theatre Aspen Solo Flights Award, EXHIBIT made its debut at the Hermitage Retreat and is touring across the country amid a critical election season. Taylor’s creation is more than a play—it’s a powerful call to action that invites audiences to be part of a conversation, a movement, and a change.

The mural vividly depicts civil rights greats who’ve advanced freedom, justice, and voting rights. Some were historic or elected office firsts, including Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., President Barack Obama, Vice President Kamala Harris, Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, Caesar Chavez, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The FREEDOM mural was conceived and commissioned by visionary Dr. Logan H. Westbrooks, a longtime civil rights advocate, bestselling author, educator, and former music industry executive. It was painted by Dylan M. Keene. Its purpose is “to engage and re-energize the community to continue to fight for freedom, justice, voting rights, to register and to VOTE!”  The mural is one of a kind in the Nation.

Dr. and Mrs. Geri Westbrooks, sponsors of the mural and the Harris Call Center, noted that the mural is already capturing the attention of some 350,000 daily commuters [LA Metro verified], and hundreds stop to admire, photograph, and share this powerful mural.

The Harris-Call Center is now open daily from 11 am to 5 pm through Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, and needs volunteers to come by and sign up.

The FREEDOM’S PATHWAY FORWARD mural is now a must-visit site for families, student groups, all Angelenos, and tourists to Los Angeles.  In the days, weeks, and months ahead, the mural will be a popular, must-visit site through the 2024 election and in 2025 for the King Holiday, Inauguration, and entire Black History Month!

Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus Tour Breaks Ticket Sales Records

Travis Scott's Circus Maximus Tour Breaks Ticket Sales Records

As Travis Scott continues to travel the world as part of his Circus Maximus Tour, he’s also continuing to break records along the way. Most recently, his Circus Maximus Tour broke the record for the highest number of tickets sold for a rap tour, selling over 1.5 million tickets since the tour kicked off in 2023.

Scott recently became the first solo rap artist to sell out shows at two major venues: MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. He also set a record on another continent, breaking the attendance record for his recent shows at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia, with almost 80,000 people showing up for the two shows last week (the second of which featured a surprise guest appearance by The Weeknd).

While Scott’s tour has broken the record for the most tickets sold for a rap tour, the total profit won’t likely be known until its completion. As of now, the tour has netted about $155 million. For reference, the current highest-grossing rap tours are as follows:

$216m – Drake: It Was All A Blur
$111m – Kendrick Lamar: The Big Steppers
$105m – 50 Cent: The Final Lap
$103m – Drake & Migos: Aubrey & 3 Migos
$83m – Travis Scott: Circus Maximus
$81m – Drake & Future: Summer Sixteen
$79m – Kanye West & Jay Z: Watch The Throne
$77m – Kendrick Lamar: DAMN
$67m – Nicki Minaj: Pink Friday 2
$64m – Travis Scott: ASTROWORLD
$60m – Drake: Would You Like A Tour?

(Source: @HipHopAllDayy)

The global tour has seen Scott travel the world performing a spectacle of an event that has largely been met with overwhelmingly positive reception from both fans and music critics. The tour kicked off in October of 2023 in North America and will conclude this month in New Zealand before Scott and his Cactus Jack crew return to the US for ComplexCon in Las Vegas on November 16.

2024 Elections: Where both candidates stand on the major issues

2024 Elections Where both candidates stand on the major issues

With the 2024 presidential election less than a month away, there is a lot of information (and misinformation) about where the candidates stand on major issues that impact American voters. Using information from a variety of non-partisan sources, we’ve summarized where the candidates stand on key issues as well as provided resources to find more unbiased information about presidential and other candidates’ stances before casting your vote.

Abortion:

Harris has stated that she will urge congress to reinstate access to abortion nationally as it was before the historic 2022 Supreme Court decision that essentially overturned Roe v. Wade.

In the past, Trump has supported the Supreme Court’s ruling that abortion access should be decided a the state level. He is unclear as to whether or not he would sign a blanket federal abortion ban. However, he has indicated that he would support a federal ban after a certain length of pregnancy. It is unclear if there would be exemptions if the mother’s life was in danger.

Crime:

Harris took a tough-on-crime approach as a District Attorney, but now has called for criminal justice reform, especially for non-violent drug offenses. She has also suggested temporarily pausing the death penalty.

Trump believes in giving police more authority to fight crime. He has called for more funding to train and hire police as well as pushed for qualified immunity of law enforcement. He has also called for the national guard to assist local police as needed.

Economy:

While she initially proposed repealing the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in its entirety, it appears that Harris now plans to extend the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions for those making less than $400,000 a year, expand the child tax credit and earned income tax credit, and add more funding to subsidize Affordable Care Act premiums. Harris said that she will end taxes on tips. She plans to pay for this by raising corporate tax and capital gains rates both from 21% to 28% and increasing tax rates for wealthier Americans and large corporations. Under her plan, billionaires would have a minimum tax rate of 25%. Harris has proposed lowering taxes for small businesses. Harris has proposed expansions to the Child Tax Credit (CTC).

Trump also plans to extend the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions. Trump says that he will end taxes on overtime pay and Social Security benefits for individuals and reduce the corporate tax rate to 15% for domestic American manufacturers. Trump has also said that he will end taxes on tips. Trump will pay for this by imposing tariffs of between 10% to 20% on every foreign import coming into the US from places other than China. Imports from China would have a tariff rate of over 60%. He has also said that he will reduce corporate taxes in order to stimulate hiring and economic growth. While Trump has not explicitly stated whether or not he believes in expansions to the Child Tax Credit (CTC), his running mate JD Vance has indicated that like Harris, he also supports expansion.

Education

Harris has said that she will continue to work towards reducing burdensome student loan debt and provide more funding for colleges and universities (especially HBCUs), including technical training.

Trump has said that he will eliminate the Department of Education. This would leave the oversight of public schools to the states if they chose to have oversight in the matter.

Environment:

Harris has said that she plans to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. She plans to continue Biden’s plans to offer tax incentives for eco-friendly initiatives at the corporate and individual level (such as tax credits for the purchase of electric vehicles). She has said that she plans to address how environmental issues often disproportionally impact poor and minority communities, but she has not laid out specific measures to do so.

Trump has said that he will end the “Green New Deal atrocities” on his first day in office. It is assumed that he was referring to certain Biden administration energy policies, which include vehicle greenhouse gas emissions limits and increases in fuel economy standards. He also plans to reduce American dependence on foreign oil by expediting natural gas pipelines into the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and New York as well as tap into stores of liquid gold for energy development. He will also exit the Paris Climate Agreement as he did when he was in office (Biden rejoined during his term). He also plans to fight harder against certain legal challenges from environmentalists.

Healthcare:

While in office, Trump made an unsuccessful attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. He has indicated that he will seek to repeal and replace it with a “better” plan, although specifics have not been provided. Trump has also been vocal about putting caps on life-saving prescription medications such as insulin. During his tenure in office, he pressed for work requirements and more vetting as conditions for Medicaid eligibility.

During her tenure as VP, Harris and the Biden administration enacted the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which temporarily expanded eligibility for and increased ACA Marketplace subsidies, which are set to continue through 2025 as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

Housing Crisis:

Harris has said that she will advocate for more federal funding to provide affordable housing and reduce homelessness.

Trump has said that he will encourage more construction of new homes by incentivizing homebuilders to build new affordable homes.

Neither candidate has explicitly addressed whether or not they will regulate corporations abilities to buy multiple residential properties.

Israel/Gaza:

Harris has been critical of Hamas and supported Israel’s right to defend itself, but does not support further Israeli invasions into Palestinian territory. She has called for a cease-fire and has said that she supports a two-state solution.

Trump has expressed both support and criticism for Israel, but largely believes that the United States should keep involvement to a minimum.

Marijuana Legalization:

Despite her aggressive prosecution of marijuana-related crimes while district attorney and attorney general, Harris now supports full marijuana legalization at the federal level, explaining that marijuana laws have historically targeted minorities in the past. She has also called for nonviolent marijuana-related criminal offenses to be expunged.

Trump has indicated that he supports the legalization of marijuana and the possible expungement of marijuana-related criminal offenses, but believes that it should be decided at the state level rather than the federal level.

Ukraine:

Harris has repeatedly expressed support for Ukraine and during her tenure with the Biden administration, announced that about $1.5 billion in aid would be sent to Ukraine for infrastructure and other civilian assistance.

Trump has not taken an official side in the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia (referring to it more than once as a proxy war), but said that brokering a peace deal will be a high priority once he is in office. Trump has made no indication that he will continue to fund Ukraine’s efforts.

Fat Joe Comes Clean About Ozempic, Battling Diabetes While Sharing Lifelong Health Journey

Screen Shot 2024 10 15 at 3.50.38 PM

New York rap icon Fat Joe recently opened up about his battle with diabetes and his use of Ozempic as part of his broader weight loss journey.

Before you start the judgement, Fat Joe, has been managing diabetes since his teenage years, and made it clear that while Ozempic helped, it was just one tool in his long-standing commitment to his health.

Get this, for years, Joe has relied on discipline, diet, and exercise to transform his body, long before Ozempic came into the picture. Unlike some celebrities who might keep their use of weight-loss drugs private, the Bronx native has been transparent about his experience. Gotta respect that.

In an honest conversation with Us Weekly, he shared that while the medication played a role, his significant dietary changes were a major factor in helping him shed 200 pounds.

“Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff,” Joe explained, referring to his reduced intake of carbs like bread, pasta, and rice. He even goes as far as cutting the corners off his toast to maintain moderation and balance.

ICYMI, Joe’s slimmer figure will be on full display when he hosts the BET Hip Hop Awards. His honesty about using Ozempic has added to the ongoing conversation surrounding the drug, which has stirred debate in Hollywood this year. While some, like fitness expert Jillian Michaels, have raised concerns about potential long-term psychological effects and urged people to rethink their food habits, Joe remains focused on the positive changes he’s made.

What’s more, beyond weight loss, Fat Joe has long been an advocate for health. He’s even been working with politicians to address hidden healthcare costs, showing that his dedication to wellness goes far beyond his personal journey.

The opening reception will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 7 PM to 10 PM at the Museum of Graffiti, located 276 NW 26th Street in Miami’s dynamic Wynwood Arts District.

In addition to the visual journey presented by Sumak, the evening will feature a live musical performance by Foex, a prominent Chilean music producer and founding member of the U.F.O. collective. Known for his genre-defying sound, Foex blends Hip-Hop, Soul, and Electronica, infusing his music with experimental creativity. As the founder of Potoco Discos, Chile’s pioneering urban music label, Foex has earned recognition for his cutting-edge approach to music production. His performance will provide a rich auditory backdrop to the exhibition, enhancing the evening’s immersive experience.

The Vote Or Else Initiative Hits Philadelphia

Screenshot 2024 10 09 at 11.59.24 PM

One of Philadelphia’s most beloved ever Philadelphia transplants is joining two or its loudly heralded natives sons for a Voter Registration and Town Hall in the City of Brotherly Love. Allen Iverson headlines a list of names that include Beanie Sigel and Freeway converging on Philly today at the Liacouras Center.

The organization Vote Or Else has been spearheading campaigns to get people

To register and go out to the polls come Election Day. They have also organized this event where athletes and luminaries from the hip-hop community have an open dialogue with themselves and amongst the people where they will speak on the upcoming election as well as issues facing the community they want to see addressed not just by the next President, but by state and local officials.

NFL legend Michael Vick, Nipsey Hussle’s brother and the head of The Marathon Brand and Blacc Sam, broadcasting Hall of Famer Angie Martinez, Killer Mike, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Jadakiss, Icewear Vezzo, and Star of Power Book II: Ghost, Michael Rainey, are among those coming to participate.

“Many of us in the hip-hop community have always been leaders for the Black community in general and it’s only right we come together, start organizing and discuss these issues,” Beanie Sigel said. “Of course everything can’t be solved overnight, but the more we dialogue and build with each other, the closer we get to coming up with solutions.”

Beanie started a journey to get better educated himself and educate others as well when it comes to voting earlier this year. His great friend and head of the organization Mobilize Justice Marvin Bing, urged him to get more involved.

This summer Sigel aligned himself with Mobilize Justice as well as organizations The Black Church PAC and AAPI(those three entities have banded together to form Vote or Else, with anti-gun violence, anti- voter suppression, and anti-Mass incarceration as main initiatives) to get active. Him and Bing helped recruit artists and activist to not just go on the communities and talk to people about the the absolute need to vote, but last month, Sigel was joined by a assortment of Detroit MCS such as Icewear Vezzo and Baby Money as they went door to door in various Motor City communities and registered those eligible to vote.

“I’m not telling people which politician to vote for,” Sigel advised. “I’m telling people they should get informed about candidates’ policies, not just Presidential, but state and local. Then you go to the polls and make an informed decision. You can affect change sitting on the sidelines.”

Sigel and company have already been to Detroit with Philly locked in for today.
