Drake Covers ‘Hey There Delilah’ and Fans Question if it’s Him or AI

Drake Asks Fans to 'Keep Your Bras On' as His Son Attended His L.A. Show

So Drake just covered “Hey There Delilah.” But socials are left guessing. Is it him or not? After the 6 God dropped “The Heart Part 6,” the last diss record in his epic feud with Kendrick Lamar, he’s been relatively quiet – save for a feature on Sexyy Red’s “U My Everything” that sampled the BBL Drizzy track of all samples.

But on Monday, socials were buzzing when a track titled “Wah Gwan Delilah” dropped on his SoundCloud from user Snowd4y. The track was laced with plenty of Toronto slang and tagged with Drake as the featured artist. Get this: the song covers the Plain White T’s moody 2005 hit.

Here’s the thing: Is Drake on the track? Nowadays, we have to ask the question. Artificial Intelligence is a thing, and Drizzy has been no stranger to using it, so posing the question is fair. “Wah Gwan Delilah” quickly amassed 200,000 plays on SoundCloud. Then, it went viral on Twitter.

Get this: Drake posted the song, albeit a screenshot, on his IG story. He took it a step further and tagged Snowd4y, then added the caption, “Wake up the city,” with a couple of emojis. Kinda feels like it’s him, right? He follows Snowd4y. Now Drake follows Snowd4y, and over the last few weeks, he’s been even teasing fans with “Hey There, Delilah.” On the “Richdiet Podcast,” he said, “I might do a local collab, but he has to come on it neatly,”

Everything points to an official collaboration of sorts in the form of a Drake cover. I’m not going to second-guess Drizzy, but in the age of AI, trolling, and media manipulation, who knows?

Drake Assists Comedian Snowd4y On The Ridiculous Yet Infectious “Wah Gwan Delilah”

Drake had it rough following his beef with Kendrick Lamar. Overall, the feud let to numerous fans wondering whether or not Drake would ever be able to recover. Moreover, there was a sense that if he wanted to come back, he would need to drop a summer smash. Well, he recently came through with a feature on Sexyy Red’s “U MY EVERYTHING,” and based on the response, it was an abject failure. On Monday, there were rumblings that Drizzy would be back with another new feature. Those rumors turned out to be true, although no one could truly prepare for what was coming.

Below, you can find the song “Wah Gwan Delilah” by Toronto comedian Snowd4y. The song is a cover of the infamous song “Hey There Delilah,” which was a classic pop staple of the mid to late 2000s. Throughout this cover, we get the Toronto version of the OG track, with references to the city’s numerous boroughs, accents, and slang. Furthermore, Drake has a very in the middle of the song, where he hams up the Toronto-isms. It is all very humorous, and if you think Drizzy is being serious, we’re not sure what to tell you?

Whether or not this is truly the move following a beef, remains to be seen. There are some fans who are outraged about this song. However, there are plenty of others who see the humor in it. Drake has been known as a troll in the past, and this is yet another example of that. As for Snowd4y, these are probably the best 24 hours of his life so far.

Quotable Lyrics:

Wah gwan, Delilah? Know I’m late ’cause there’s bare traffic
I just show my dog your ‘Gram
He said he knows a man that slapped it, I’m so cheesed
Your “mademoiselle” nights are geeked, I’m bent lowkey

Drake Confuses — Or Trolls — Fans With ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’… Which Might Be AI-Generated

This AI stuff has gotten out of hand lately. There’s no telling if any song is real or if someone typed a prompt. And, as if to drive home the point, no less an authority on the subject than Drake (of course) has put in an appearance to either troll fans or prove just how unfazed he is by his recent battle with Kendrick Lamar.

A few minutes ago, someone called Snowd4y dropped a new song called “Wah Gwan Delilah” on SoundCloud, purporting to feature Drake himself. The song is a clear riff on the 2006 Plain White T’s hit “Hey There Delilah,” employing Caribbean patois to replace the standard greeting in from the original’s title.

Either the mixing on Drake’s vocals is weird, or fans just can’t believe that he’d really do something this corny, so X.com (formerly Twitter.com) has lit up with fan responses wondering if the track is authentic or AI-generated. (For what it’s worth, according to the Drake subreddit, Snowd4y’s whole thing is doing a cheeky satire of a Toronto rudeboy, so perhaps the whole thing is meant to be a joke that fans are, of course, taking way too seriously.)

Complicating matters is the fact that Drake himself has posted a screenshot of the song from SoundCloud on his Instagram Story, writing “@snowd4y wake up the city 😂 😮‍💨” Whether this means that he’s amused by the audacious stunt by Snowd4y or that he really does support the track remains unclear.
