Lauren London Goes Viral With A Powerful Message on Surrendering Control

Lauren London dropped a gem on her timeline and gave a lesson to her 9.6 Million Followers on when things don’t go as planned. London appeared on the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast where she talks about trauma, spirituality, and how to recover from a loss. The podcast captions that share how the tragic death of her partner, Nipsey Hustle who was tragically murdered in 2019, has helped strengthen her faith, dealing with things that are out of your control, and how she’s using her pain to help and serve others and maintaining the spirit of celebration. In the brief video that she shares with her followers, she states “ Not having control, letting go. When you have this plan for your life, as you should, if or when that gets derailed and you have plan B to go off of that you didn’t plan on, it is the ultimate test of surrender because at the end of the day as much control as we think we have we do not and it’s actually very powerful to surrender. We think that it’s a weakness but there is so much power in letting go and flowing with the river. Life is gonna do what it’s gonna do” she adds “And we are all gonna get chin checked by life one way or another so I might as well focus on my enlightenment and roll with the river and not fight with the rocks.”

Lauren’s message in the caption of the post to her followers states “My intention in sharing is always to help….in any way I can.” Love y’all

Saweetie Explains The Inspiration Behind Her Buzz Cut

In an interview at Power 106 in LA with radio personality Bryana, The Closer rapper explained that meditation is what inspired her to shed the energy attached to her hair. When asked about what inspired her to completely do the buzz cut sweetie answer with an unexpected response. “Meditation, as crazy as it sounds, I found so much clarity in myself, I wanted to start over and I did research about hair and hair holds a lot of energy and I really wanted to just to feel new and fresh with this new music, I won’t say new me but elevated me” She says. “ I really just wanted to start over again.” What does elevated Saweetie look like you ask? The new calm Saweeetie simply responds with: “She meditates she’s centered, she has clarity she knows what she wants, she puts her foot down, I feel like before I discovered meditation it was just ‘yes, yes I’ll do it’ no matter how bad my body felt if the opportunity was great I just said yes and I kept running down my mental, my spiritual, my physical. But how am I going to continue to work if I’m deflated so I think that I have established more boundaries around me in the mental space, in the business space as well and I think everyone should do that. So when we saw that Harlem Fashion Row and Barbie partnered to launch doll-sized replicas of the designs from renowned Black fashion creatives. The Collaboration puts a spotlight on The Black Designers: Hanifa, Rich Fresh, and Kimberly Goldson. making the Barbie brand one of the most diverse doll companies in the world. HFR made the announcement and showed pics of the dolls wearing the must-have looks for the season on social with a caption that reads: HFR’s mission from the very start (15 years ago), has been to introduce and support multicultural designers. We are SO thrilled to partner with brands like @barbiestyle who believe in our mission. “I’m excited that Harlem’s Fashion Row gets to play a part in widely diversifying their style too. Lizzo Explains How Watching “The Nutty Professor” Made Her Feel “Sad” Growing Up

Lizzo has been a proponent of body acceptance throughout her career. While she has faced criticism over her weight and has faced backlash for some of her antics, most famously, her choice of clothing at a Lakers game in 2019, she has continued to try to change the narrative and image of plus-sized women.

In a recent interview with Variety, Lizzo spoke on representation in Hollywood as well as her reaction to seeing Eddie Murphy wear fat suits in many of his movies.

Lizzo was asked what examples of stereotypes she saw of plus-sized people in film and television growing up that she thought were “harmful” and portrayed plus-sized people in a negative light. Lizzo then references Eddie Murphy’s portrayal of Sherman Klump in The Nutty Professor.

“It’s funny because I’m the biggest Eddie Murphy fan of all time,” Lizzo said. “But he definitely had a collection of fat-suit movies that people would be laughing at, but I would feel sad.”

“Not because I felt like, ‘Oh, my gosh — that’s me.’ But I had this empathy for Professor Klump [in The Nutty Professor],” she added. “Like, the scene where he opens his drawer and there are all these candies and M&Ms in his desk? I could literally cry right now thinking about it. People around me were laughing, but I hide food, too. I feel him. I feel sympathy and empathy for him.”

Kerry Washington Pays Tribute to One of The Greatest Olympic Athletes of All Time

In honor of Black History Month and in the spirit of the Winter Olympics, Kerry Washington gives a nod to ‘HERstory’ by posting a tribute to one of the greatest Olympic athletes of all time, Wilma Rudolph. Her tribute included a makeover to look like her as well as a brief lesson on the Olympic athlete. In the post, she stated that “Wilma Rudolph was not the first Black nor Female athlete but she was the first ATHLETE ever to win three gold medals”. She also took the time to thank all the phenomenal athletes on Team USA, specifically shouting out Erin Jackson who made history this week as the first Black American Woman to win a speed skating world cup race at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Kerry showed her love to the icon, by dressing in full character and posting a carousel of photos to her Instagram in which she changed up her hair wearing a retro, tousled pixie cut that looks just like Rudolph’s, including a USA sweatshirt donning a gold medal, with the new look.
