Erykah Badu Gives Eccentric Studio Tour

It only makes sense why Erykah Badu has chosen to establish her personal creative space in Dallas, TX. The 51-year-old singer-songwriter has returned to her roots in her hometown, and her “Badudio” is a testament to Badu’s spiritual connection to sound. During her feature of Vogue’s “Objects of Affection,” Badu gives us a peak at her home studio. The home itself is unique and vibrant, featuring objects that undeniably inspire the “On & On” singer. Right upon walking in is a dramatic piano which Badu considers to be haunted.

Allegedly, this piano has turned on by itself, and its spooky tones have inspired some of Badu’s favorite songs. Badu is known for experimenting with sounds. Accordingly, her studio houses a number of rare instruments. One of her favorites is a dual-purpose purse that also serves as a singing bowl. When showing off this object of affection, Badu reflects on the functionality of this bag: “wherever I am, I can find some peace.” Another productive fashion choice that Badu uses from morning to night is her ankle bells. As soon as she wakes up, the bells are strapped to her legs as Badu loves music following her around.

While giving a tour of her house, the mom of three shows off her peaceful bedroom sanctuary. Alongside her bed is a one-of-a-kind bedroom addition: an infrared sauna. Of course, even the sauna doesn’t lack a musical touch. It’s fitted with a stolen car radio that adds an extra flare to an already soothing steam session. Beyond the bedroom is Badu’s meditation haven. This beautiful bohemian escape is filled with spiritual objects, especially those that highlight healing sound waves. Her collection of instruments includes tuning forks, spinning spears, and even an Om wand that Badu received on an Ayahuasca retreat.

Of course, a tour of Badu’s house wouldn’t be complete without a glimpse at her epic jewelry collection. With style and flare, Badu shows off her favorite pieces of metal, including her tuning fork grill and her favorite opal stone grills. Needless to say, the multi-grammy award-winning artist has fashioned her “Badudio” to fit her spiritual needs, which revolves around her love for sound.

Much change is happening in Summer Walker’s life, and she’s sharing pieces with the public. The fiercely private hitmaker has purposefully kept her life away from prying eyes, as she knows what it is like to be on the end of constant harassment. However, every so often, if her fans are lucky, Walker will emerge with a life update. She did that earlier today when she shared what looked to be an altar, and in the caption, she explained her spiritual journey.

“This was the Most amazing incredible breathtaking beautiful unforgettable year probably of my entire life,” she wrote. “Purged out all the bad, truly let go, surrendered & in return I was flooded with an abundance of everything good pure and new. all was revealed & I’ve been reborn. A brand NEW woman filled with confidence self love self worth strength & discipline.”

The mother of three added she “never had faith like this” and said she “got to witness so many miracles.” Further, Walker shared, “All of my prayers were answered my ancestors/spirit guides really heard me, every word… that’s crazy. I’ve never had family&friends like I do now, never been genuinely loved like I am now. I’ve been gifted with lifetime mentors & role models with top tier guidance. I have a home now, somewhere i fit in perfectly, some where I’m seen & understood. Maferefun Oya🌪 Ochun 🌻, blessings to my Godparents & elders. & now I’m outsideeeee lol.”

Last month, Summer announced the arrival of her twins. Like her previous birth, she’s kept the names of her children private. However, she did offer insight into the difficult pregnancy journey, especially as complications arose near the end. “Just sharing to inspire other women. Cause I know once you carry twins to almost 42 weeks, especially with one breech, people will try to steer you towards induction or C-section.”

Although she revealed last Fall that she was now a single woman, Walker said Lvrd Pharoh supported her at each step. “You can do it, this was my second home birth all natural 7 hrs, no tearing,” she stated. “[And] I couldn’t of done it without my spirit guides, Godparents, birth team, my elders, & the best dad doula ever Larry lol. He was so hands on the whole time I was really impressed it wasn’t easy but it gets done.”

Lauren London dropped a gem on her timeline and gave a lesson to her 9.6 Million Followers on when things don’t go as planned.  London appeared on the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast where she talks about trauma, spirituality, and how to recover from a loss. The podcast captions that share how the tragic death of her partner,  Nipsey Hustle who was tragically murdered in 2019,  has helped strengthen her faith, dealing with things that are out of your control, and how she’s using her pain to help and serve others and maintaining the spirit of celebration. In the brief video that she shares with her followers, she states “ Not having control, letting go. When you have this plan for your life, as you should, if or when that gets derailed and you have plan B to go off of that you didn’t plan on,  it is the ultimate test of surrender because at the end of the day as much control as we think we have we do not and it’s actually very powerful to surrender.  We think that it’s a weakness but there is so much power in letting go and flowing with the river.  Life is gonna do what it’s gonna do” she adds “And we are all gonna get chin checked by life one way or another so I might as well focus on my enlightenment and roll with the river and not fight with the rocks.”
