On today’s date in 2007, Sean Price of the legendary Boot Camp Clik released his second solo album entitled Jesus Price Supastar on Duck Down Records.

Jesus Price Supastar features production from 9th Wonder and Khrysis, as well as Illmind, Tommy Tee, Moss, and P.F. Cuttin. Album guests include Boot Camp Clik members Buckshot, Steele and Rock, Rustee Juxx, Sadat X, Block McCloud, Phonte, Chaundon, and The Loudmouf Choir. The album was met with a positive reception from music critics.

Jesus Price Supastar debuted on the Billboard Hot 200 chart at #196, making it the first Boot Camp Clik album since 1999 to crack the chart.

This album was a superb follow up to Monkey Barz, Price’s solo debut, but not even the BCC expected Sean’s solo ventures to be received so well by an entirely different generation of Hip Hoppers than he was used to that celebrated his Helton Skeltah success.

After four successful solo albums, Price’s life was cut short in August 2015 by what has still been ruled undetermined.

Salute to the Price family, his wife Bernie, his daughter Shaun, Buckshot, Steele, Tek and the entire Duck Down team for sharing the unparalleled talent of an artist like Sean Price. P!

Method Man Pays Tribute To Sean Price And Heltah Skeltah

Method Man has been in the headlines for many good reasons as of late. He dealt out an extensive and candid interview with Men’s Health recently. In it, he talked about the struggles he was dealing with personally. Whether it was physical or mental, Meth was an open book about his tough rise to fame during the 90s and 2000s with the Wu-Tang Clan. He continues to better himself and has been for quite some time now.

Now, he is back doing great things once again. On Wednesday (August 9) he showed up for a tribute show for Heltah Skeltah and the late icon Sean Price. Method Man rocked the stage and the crowd in a passionate performance that is sure to be in good spirits with Price’s family, friends, and rap partner, Rock. Price passed away unexpectedly in his Brooklyn apartment while he was sleeping back in 2015. Method Man has supported Rock since Price’s unforeseen death. Back in 2017, the two collaborated as part of Rock’s first solo album Rockness A.P.(After Price) on the song called “Camp Wu.”

Rock Thanks Method Man On Twitter

The tribute show was held at SOB’s in New York City and even though Heltah Skeltah has lost an icon in Sean Price, Rock refuses to quit on the duo. Rock took the time to thank Wu-Tang’s finest on Twitter for his selflessness. He says “Shouts everybody who came thru for Sean and Bodied it… But I have to absolutely give a solo shout to @methodman. Meth ain’t ask for NOTHING! No flights, no cash, no bottles, nothing! He did this on the strength of Sean and his wife. Like it’s supposed to be! Super Salute.”

What do you think about the video Rock posted on his Twitter account? Is Method Man one of the best guys in the hip-hop community? Were you at this concert, if so how was it? Be sure to tell us all of your thoughts and answers down in the comments section. Additionally, be sure to keep it locked in with HNHH for all the heartwarming stories around the music world.

Today In Hip Hop History: Boot Camp Clik’s Sean Price Passed Away Eight Years Ago

The Hip Hop community will never forget the feeling that permeated the atmosphere the morning that everyone woke up to find out that Sean Price aka Hussain Sayyid aka Ruck of the famed Boot Camp Clik duo Heltah Skeltah passed away in his sleep on this date eight years ago. He was 43 years old.

His death sent shock waves throughout Hip Hop, especially in NYC and Brooklyn to be specific. The native Brownsvillian was loved and respected in his community, whether it was for his penchant for spitting fire verses, his Comedy Central-esque shenanigans or just being one of the few examples of a responsible family man in the hood.

P left behind a myriad of solo studio work, including Mic Tyson and the critically acclaimed, yet posthumous release, Songs In The Key Of Price, in which his scheduled album release party at NYC’s SOBs ironically was turned into a memorial show.

Rest In Peace to Sean P. and condolences to his wife Bernadette and their children from the entire Mind Squad. Supreme salute to the entire Boot Camp Clik for holding down their comrade and his legacy.
