DDG Trolls Twitter With Fake Halle Bailey Pregnancy Announcement On April Fool’s Day

DDG may have admitted that he is indeed “way too petty” on his latest single, but fans of his girlfriend, singer and actress Halle Bailey, are adding that he also jokes way too much. For the large part, most musicians held back from participating in any over-the-top April Fool’s Day pranks. But apparently Usher and DDG didn’t get the memo.

While Usher’s was a short-lived professional prank that he would be joined on stage on April 1 by his former collaborator Beyoncé within seconds, he revealed that it wasn’t going to happen. On the other hand, DDG’s prank took things a bit further.

In a tweet posted at 9:53 am, the rapper uploaded a picture of an ultrasound with the caption “can’t wait to be your dad 😭😭❤.” Although he didn’t explicitly state who the expecting mother was, fans assumed that the mommy-to-be was The Little Mermaid actress, sending social media into a spiral.

Fans quickly headed over to Bailey’s social media profiles to see if they had missed anything. But her last post was of herself in a bikini with her mid-drift exposed on vacation, celebrating her birthday on March 27.

Later, just before 2 pm, the rapper returned to Twitter to confirm that it was just an April Fool’s Day prank. DDG is known for trolling and even pulling pranks on fans. In fact, there’s a long-running conspiracy theory prank that the rapper continues to do, known as the “real DDG voice.”

Even DDG’s family isn’t shielded from his trolling, as shown across his YouTube page.

So, no, Halle Bailey is not pregnant.

Chlöe Admitted Being Compared To Her Sister Halle Bailey ‘Really Pisses Me Off’ And Explained Why

Rapper Latto promised a juicy first episode of her new Apple Music show, 777 Radio, and she delivered with special guest Chlöe. The “Body Do” singer has maintained a thick skin when it comes to rumors about her. However, when it comes to fans pitting her and her sister Halle Bailey against each with endless comparisons she’s not having it.

The Swarm actress fired off about the topic when asked by the host in the clip shared with People, saying, “Honestly, it really pisses me off.”

Chlöe continued by adding, “I think out of everything, that’s the thing that gets under my skin the most, when people are comparing us, because we are best friends, we’re sisters. Sometimes we forget that we’re not twins, and it’s like, don’t mess with my blood. Don’t mess with her.”

Before the clip ends, Chlöe explained, “Sometimes I just have to brush it off because people only see what they want to make up, what they want to believe, and it’s like, sometimes I don’t need to give off that energy and waste my time explaining something that I know isn’t true.”

The full first episode of 777 Radio featuring Chlöe will be released tomorrow, March 30, at 11 a.m. PT. New episodes of the series will air biweekly on Thursdays exclusively on Apple Music 1. For more information, click here.

Halle Bailey’s Emotional Moment With Young “The Little Mermaid” Fan Has The Internet In Tears

We’ll soon receive the new live-action The Little Mermaid, and it’s clear Halle Bailey’s inclusion in the film has touched fans. When Disney first announced that the songbird would tackle the lead role of red-haired Ariel, there were mixed reactions. One side of the fence celebrated Bailey in her new role, while the other condemned the film for adding a Black Ariel. Disney purists believed the character should remain porcelain-skinned, and racists made their voices heard on social media.

Throughout it all, the mild-mannered singer took the criticism in stride. Her support system, including her equally-successful sister Chlöe Bailey, defended her against naysayers, as did their supporters. Despite the backlash, Halle acknowledged the weight taking on this role would carry, especially for young Black girls looking for another Disney princess who looked like them. One such pint-sized fan ran into Bailey during a trip with Disney World, and the precious moment brought tears to the eyes of viewers.

Halle Bailey Hugs Excited Fan

On Instagram, Halle shared bits and pieces from her trip to the Magical Kingdom. In one clip, the singer held a little girl who clasped onto Bailey tightly. A woman off-camera, presumably a relative, told the singer that Ariel was her favorite princess. When it seemed that Halle attempted to end the embrace, it only elicited laughs because the little girl wasn’t ready to let go. The only thing that could divert her attention was questioning her about a photo. Even then, she only turned her head and still kept a tight grip on her new favorite Ariel.

“Met this beautiful baby Mila Rose who made me cry 🥺,” Bailey wrote alongside the video. “She just hugged me so tight ❤.” Elsewhere, another fan was thrilled when they stopped for the parade and captured Halle Bailey grooving with Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. The singer joined the first Black Disney princess in her car as they rode through the crowd and danced to the film’s favorites.

Taking It All In

In a recent feature for Edition Modern Luxury, Bailey spoke about her first reactions to the public’s pushback. “Seeing the world’s reaction to it was definitely a shock,” she said. “But seeing all the babies’ reactions, all the brown and Black young girls, really tore me up emotionally.” Further, Bailey stated, “It’s honestly been such a crazy ride, and I genuinely feel shocked and honored and grateful to be in this position. A lot of times, I have to pinch myself and be like, is this real life?” Check out videos of Halle Bailey’s Disney World trip above.

Halle Bailey Shared An Adorable Video Of A Little Fan Who Just Could Not Let Go Of Her At Disney World

Disney’s live-action version of The Little Mermaid is one of this spring’s most anticipated films. This week, as we are less than two months out, Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel in the upcoming film, was seen at Disney World. A young fan spotted her and gave her a hug, holding onto Bailey as Bailey held the girl tight.

The fan’s mom shared a clip of the interaction to her Instagram stories, and though there is a lot of background noise in the clip, we can hear the mom telling Bailey, “Ariel’s her favorite.”

Bailey is also heard in the clip telling the mom, “she’s so beautiful and sweet.”

Later, Bailey shared the clip to her own social media pages, writing, “she made my whole day” on Twitter.

A first look at the live-action Little Mermaid was revealed last September. Upon the release, several parents shared clips of their young Black daughters’ reactions to the teaser, many of which were joyful and elated.

Bailey took to Twitter at the time to express her happiness toward the reactions over the teaser.

“people have been sending these reactions to me all weekend and i’m in truly in awe,” she wrote. “this means the world to me.”

The Little Mermaid arrives to theaters 5/23.

Halle Bailey Said She And Her Sister Chlöe ‘Are Not Finished Making Music Together’ As Chloe x Halle

Chlöe and Halle Bailey are having a big year — both as a group and as individuals. We are just over a week away from Chlöe’s solo debut album, In Pieces, and in May, we will see Halle take the big screen in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

While we are excited to see what the sisters bring to us individually, fans wonder what their future as a duo entails.

While promoting her new campaign with Zyrtec (per PopSugar), Halle revealed that she and Chlöe are excited about this new era in each of their lives. But she also made it known that fans haven’t seen the last of them as Chloe x Halle.

“This journey has been a really beautiful one,” said Halle. “My sister and I are so close, she’s like my arm. […] And she’s my biggest supporter. I’m her biggest supporter. We’re just really excited to be able to be doing all of this together and for this all to be happening. I’m so proud of her. And her album comes out March 31, In Pieces, and everyone should be so hyped for it. But people should definitely know that we are not finished making music together.”

In Pieces is out 3/24 via Columbia and Parkwood. Find more information here.

The Little Mermaid is in theaters 5/23.

Halle Bailey’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Doesn’t Limit Ariel To Leaving The Ocean For A Boy, She Explained

Halle Bailey has a monster year in store. Her leading turn as Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid live remake is out in May, but her Ariel doll is already in demand. Bailey is also set to star as Nettie in The Color Purple in December, and she talked about the weight of both roles as the cover star of Edition Modern Luxury‘s March issue.

In the accompanying cover story, Bailey explained how 2023’s The Little Mermaid left behind the original version’s shades of sexism: “I’m really excited for my version of the film because we’ve definitely changed that perspective of just her wanting to leave the ocean for a boy. It’s way bigger than that. It’s about herself, her purpose, her freedom, her life, and what she wants.”

She continued, “As women, we are amazing, we are independent, we are modern, we are everything and above. And I’m glad that Disney is updating some of those themes.”

Bailey has transparently talked about the horrifically racist backlash she’s been subjected to since her casting in 2019. She did so again with Edition: “Seeing the world’s reaction to it was definitely a shock, but seeing all the babies’ reactions, all the brown and Black young girls, really tore me up emotionally. … It’s honestly been such a crazy ride, and I genuinely feel shocked and honored and grateful to be in this position. A lot of times, I have to pinch myself and be like, is this real life?”

And Bailey couldn’t talk about her involvement in The Color Purple without loving on her sister, Chlöe (who is at the tip of the internet’s tongue with the release of Swarm and her impending release of her debut solo album, In Pieces).

“My sister Chlöe, she’s my angel, she’s my world. She’s my hero, my big sister, she’s my inspiration,” she said. “So taking on this role, I was really excited to do it because I got to play the little sister and build off this relationship of two people loving each other.”

The Little Mermaid is out in theaters on May 26. Watch the official trailer below.

Halle Bailey Teaches Fans How To Say Her Name

The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey recently shared the correct way to pronounce her name during an Instagram Live. A video clip uploaded to Twitter by a fan account shows the Chloe x Halle singer explaining the correct way to say her two-syllable moniker. She also lightly explained her frustration at having people get it wrong so often.

“You know, I really appreciate you asking because so many people don’t know how to pronounce it correctly. It’s literally just Halle. It’s simple, it’s easy: It’s Halle. Not Holly, not Haley. It’s Halle. Okay? Thank you.” Bailey explained at the time. The live stream was a way for the Atlanta native to thank her fans for supporting her career journey as the official trailer for her debut movie, The Little Mermaid was released at the 2023 Oscars.

Halle Offers a Tutorial On Saying Her “Simple” Name

This isn’t the first time there has been confusion over the Ungodly Hour singer’s name. There have been several cases where the 22-year-old has been confused for Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, which the Catwoman lead has previously joked about.  When a fan replied to one of her posts saying, “Can’t wait to see you under da sea! 🧜‍♀️,” the older starlet was quick to reply, “… wrong Halle lol. I can’t wait to see her too though.”

In the same live stream, the young Disney princess expressed her excitement about playing the role of Ariel. “I feel like everything is falling into place. I feel like this is my Jordan year, right?” To be fair, everything does seem to be falling into place for the young singer-turned-actress.

Excitement Under the Sea

Earlier this month, Halle Bailey unveiled The Little Mermaid doll modelled after her. The long-awaited movie is finally set to release in theatres on May 26, 2023. In an interview with Variety, she spoke about being an inspiration for young girls watching her on the big screen. “I want the little girl in me and the little girls just like me who are watching to know that they’re special and that they should be a princess in every single way. There’s no reason that they shouldn’t be,”  the star said. Will you be heading to theatres this spring to catch Disney’s upcoming remake? Tell us in the comments below.

In the midst of an interview with a reporter for Variety, the reporter began waving the one and only Jamie Lee Curtis over, saying, “Jamie, someone wants to meet you.” Meanwhile, Bailey, visibly anxious, said, “Oh, my god,” before introducing herself and shaking Curtis’s hand.

“I know who you are,” Curtis assured her.

“I’m such a big fan,” Bailey raved with a big smile on her face. “You look beautiful! You look so pretty!”

After a wholesome embrace, they had a picture taken together, looking spectacular in their sprawling dresses. After Curtis left, Bailey said to the reporter, “She’s so nice!”
