Yesterday, Megan Thee Stallion’s new documentary In Her Words dropped on Prime Video. The doc goes deep, diving into some of the more difficult moments on the Houston rapper’s journey. She opened up about her mother’s passing, being shot by Tory Lanez, her struggles with mental health, and much more.
The documentary also showcases Meg’s live reaction to learning that Lanez was convicted on three felony charges in 2022. In an emotional clip, her manager shares the news, and Meg breaks down in tears as a result. She expressed how grateful she was that justice had been served, but quickly made it clear that the battle wasn’t over yet.
Megan Thee Stallion Gets Vulnerable In New Documentary
“I really thought that once he got sentenced and once he went off to jail, I was going be a new woman and I thought I was going to be great and I could just go be the Megan Thee Stallion I always wanted to be. No. I still, every day, have to deal with people mad at me because I said what happened to me,” she explained. “I do feel like I’m getting in a place where I really don’t care. I only care about my damn self. For the first time since my mama was alive, I’m taking care of myself, because I want to feel good. Everything I do is for me. And I don’t feel like I’m operating at one million percent now, but I definitely feel like I’m operating better. I do feel hopeful for what’s next for me.”

Yesterday (September 26), Justin Johnson was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and felon in possession of a firearm for his alleged role in the 2021 shooting of Young Dolph. The 25-year-old was given a sentence of life in prison following the verdict. The fate of his co-defendants Hernandez Govan and Cornelius Smith has not yet been revealed.
As expected, the verdict has since prompted big reactions from Young Dolph’s fans, peers, and loved ones. While the news began to circulate, for example, his fiancée Mia Jaye took to Instagram to share a heartfelt statement. In it, she thanks everyone involved in bringing Johnson to justice and also acknowledges the public for supporting her family.
Mia Jaye Releases Statement About Justin Johnson’s Guilty Verdict
“Today’s verdict brings relief and restores my confidence in the justice system,” she wrote in part. “On behalf of my children, family, and myself, I would like to thank law enforcement, the prosecution, and everyone involved for their diligent work in presenting the facts that led to this conviction. We are also grateful to the public for standing with us and advocating for accountability throughout this process. This is just the beginning of our journey toward achieving full justice for Adolph, and we will patiently support the unfolding of that process.”
Young Dolph’s sister Carlisa Brown also spoke after the verdict was read. She encouraged the public to focus on her late brother’s legacy as opposed to his killers. “We ask you to remember the man who enjoyed being a father and spending time with his family, we ask that you remember the man who enjoyed giving opportunities to those who were often overlooked and counted out. We ask that you remember the man who enjoyed giving back to others and being an inspiration to those who come from less-than-ideal backgrounds,” she says in a clip obtained by The Shade Room.

Today, nearly three years after the fatal shooting of PnB Rock, his family has finally gotten justice. Freddie Trone and Tremont Jones’ trial came to an end, according to Rolling Stone‘s Nancy Dillon, and they were both hit with guilty verdicts. Trone was found guilty of murder, two counts of robbery, and one count of conspiracy. Jones was found guilty of robbery and conspiracy.
Trone is the father of the 17-year-old believed to have pulled the trigger back in 2022, who was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial last month. Prosecutors accuse Trone of instructing his son to enter the South Los Angeles Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles to rob the rapper after Jones tipped him off.
Trone, on the other hand, insisted that he only helped his son after the shooting had already been carried out. “I understand you’re trying to put together your story,” he told prosecutors earlier this week, “I never had nothing to do with it, I wasn’t there. I didn’t tell nobody to do nothing, I didn’t hand nobody no gun.” Clearly, the jury wasn’t buying his story. Dates for Trone and Jones’ sentencing have yet to be announced.
The news comes shortly after PnB Rock’s mother, Deanna Allen, called Trone out in an interview outside of the courtroom. “His lies are ridiculous. That is ridiculous. The surveillance should speak for itself,” she told Rolling Stone. “They’re trying to say they had nothing to do with it. It’s unacceptable. My son was a beautiful person.” What do you think of PnB Rock’s accused killer being found guilty in court today? Are you surprised or not? Earlier today, Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in an alleged hush-money scheme, in which he was accused of paying off adult film star Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence on their alleged affair. He’s now the first president in U.S. history with a felony, and his sentencing has been scheduled for July. “This was a disgrace,” Trump said following the verdict. “This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt.”
As reactions to the news continue to pour in, DJ Akademiks has taken to Twitter/X to share his take on Trump’s conviction. According to him, everyone is simply overreacting. Moreover, he admits that the guilty verdict has made him want to vote for Trump in the upcoming presidential election.
DJ Akademiks Says He Wants To Vote For Donald Trump
“Why they tryna violate Trump like dat? N***a cant pay off a sidepiece in peace???” he asked in a Tweet. “Donald Trump getting found guilty on 34 felony counts for paying off his side h*e… makes me wanna vote for dat n***a even more. Not even gonna lie,” he also added. Of course, his remarks have sparked quite a debate in his replies, with most commenters dragging him for supporting Trump. Many are also calling him out for defending him while he himself has some serious legal issues to work out.
“All Trump backers have allegations themselves, it lines up. Criminals flock together,” one critic writes. “You about to be a registered SO. You ain’t voting for nobody,” another alleges. A former TikTok star, Ali Abulaban, was found guilty on Wednesday of two counts of first-degree murder for the fatal shootings of his estranged wife and another man in their San Diego apartment in 2021. Ali had gained prominence on TikTok for his impersonations of 6ix9ine and Al Pacino’s Scarface, though his trial has undoubtedly overshadowed his viral fame. Abulaban, 31, admitted to killing Ana Abulaban, 28, and Rayburn Barron, 29, but claimed he acted in a moment of rage after discovering the pair together on the sofa. The case has drawn significant attention due to Abulaban’s social media fame and the disturbing details of the crime. As the trial concluded, the jury’s decision brought some closure to a case that has captivated many.
During the trial, Ali Abulaban didn’t deny killing his wife and Barron, testifying that he “snapped” after finding the two together on a sofa. The charges included special circumstances for multiple murders, ensuring that the TikTok star would receive a life sentence without parole. Prosecutors initially had the option to seek the death penalty but chose not to pursue it, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The jury began deliberation on Friday before reaching a verdict on Wednesday. This followed an 18-day trial to determine whether the killings were premeditated or, as the defense argued, a result of Abulaban acting in the heat of passion. The defense painted Abulaban’s actions as a result of being “driven to the brink” by his wife’s rejection, in addition to his struggles with cocaine addiction and mental health issues.
Prosecution’s Case
Prosecutors portrayed the ex-TikTok star’s crime as a calculated and deliberate murder. They described Ali Abulaban as a controlling and possessive husband who had physically abused his wife for years. The separation was a significant turning point, leading to the tragic events of October 21, 2021, they said.
On the morning of the murders, Ali Abulaban reportedly installed a microphone app on their daughter’s iPad, and ransacked the unit after entering the apartment once his ex-wife left. Prosecutors claimed he listened in real-time as Ana and Barron conversed and laughed. Then, he returned to the apartment and committed the murders. Surveillance cameras captured his movements, and the audio of the fatal shots was a key piece of evidence in the trial.
The events of that fateful day were chilling. Around 3 p.m., Abulaban heard his wife and Barron through the eavesdropping app. He rushed to the building, ascended to the 35th floor, and entered the apartment with a gun. According to prosecutors, he fired multiple shots at close range, killing both victims. Barron was shot three times in the head and neck, while Ana was shot in the forehead. The trial’s dramatic opening included the playing of security camera audio, capturing the shots, a woman’s scream, and the ensuing silence.
Ali Abulaban’s Defense & Testimony
During the trial, Ali Abulaban’s defense presented a narrative of a troubled man driven to a breaking point. His attorney described a tumultuous marriage filled with arguments and reconciliations, asserting that Abulaban’s judgment was impaired by substance abuse and emotional distress.
According to reports, Abulaban’s testimony on the stand was nothing short of volatile. His calm demeanor would often be interrupted by emotional outbursts in court. During his testimony, he stated that he never had the intention to kill anyone but felt overwhelmed by the situation. He also admitted that he called 911 and picked his daughter up from school afterward, telling her, “I hurt mommy.” Furthermore, his mother also took the stand and stated that he not only called her after the killings but also sent her pictures of the bloodied bodies on the couch.
The relationship between Ali and Ana Abulaban was fraught with violence and control. They met in Japan in 2014, where Ali was serving in the Air Force, ABC 10 reports. Prosecutors alleged that he was discharged from the army after punching his wife in the face. However, Ali refuted, claiming that she actually suffered an injury from a fall. The couple stayed together, moving to Virginia and later to San Diego. Nevertheless, prosecutors believe this specific incident was an early indication of the abuse that she suffered. In San Diego, Ali Abulaban gained popularity on TikTok under the handle JinnKid, known for his comedic impersonations of Al Pacino’s Scarface character and 6ix9ine. Ana often filmed his videos and even appeared in a few of his TikTok clips. Unfortunately, their personal life was far from comedic.
Sentencing & Aftermath
Ali Abulaban is scheduled to be sentenced on June 28, facing life imprisonment without parole. The case has brought to light the dark side of social media fame and the severe consequences of domestic violence. Ana Abulaban’s tragic death serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of abusive relationships and the importance of seeking help. As the community and the nation grapple with the aftermath, the hope remains that Ana Abulaban’s story will inspire more robust support systems for victims of domestic violence and greater awareness of the signs of abusive behavior.
Earlier this week, two men were found guilty of the 2002 murder of Run-DMC icon Jam Master Jay. The convictions of the men, Karl Jordan and Ronald Washington, followed a three-week trial. Throughout the trial, prosecutors called over 30 witnesses to the stand to recount the alleged drug deal gone wrong. Jordan and Washington are now both facing a minimum of 20 years behind bars, though they can still challenge the verdict with the judge and in federal appeals court.
Amid the news, Jam Master Jay’s son TJ Mizell spoke with Billboard. He thanked those involved in helping his family reach justice, also emphasizing the importance of keeping his father’s legacy alive. “We extend our deepest gratitude to the prosecutors, law enforcement officials and all involved in bringing these individuals to justice. Their unwavering dedication has ensured a measure of accountability for the tragic loss of Jam Master Jay,” he said. “As we pause to reflect, we are reminded of the profound impact and influence Jay had on countless lives. His legacy endures through his music, his spirit and the cherished memories we hold dear. We remain committed to honoring his memory and celebrating the enduring legacy he leaves behind.”

We ask that you continue to honor Jay’s memory through his music and the positive impact he made on the world,” Mizell also says. “While the pain of our loss will always remain, we find solace in the knowledge that justice has been served. Our family believes in God’s plan and that faith is what helped provide closure for us long ago. We thank all that continue to support Jay’s legacy by honoring his life’s achievements.”

Jonathan Majors says “prayer” and “faith” are keeping him going after his recent guilty verdict for third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. TMZ caught up with the disgraced actor in West Hollywood, earlier this week, to ask how he’s been holding up.
“God is good. God is great,” Majors said, before listing “prayer” and “faith” as the ways he’s staying positive. When asked about the future of his acting career, Majors ended the interview.
Jonathan Majors Leaves Court After Hearing Guilty Verdict
Majors stood trial for the assault on his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in November and December of 2023. Among the many pieces of evidence presented was a recording of Majors labeling himself a “great man” and comparing himself to Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Obama, while also demanding Jabbari act like Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama. District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement after the ruling: “The evidence presented throughout this trial illustrated a cycle of psychological and emotional abuse and escalating patterns of coercion far too common across the many intimate partner violence cases we see each and every day. Today, a jury determined that the pattern of abuse and coercion culminated with Mr. Majors assaulting and harassing his girlfriend. We thank the jury for its service and the survivor for bravely telling her story despite having to relive her trauma on the stand.”
Jonathan Majors Speaks With TMZ
Majors is due back in court for sentencing on February 6, 2024. Be on the lookout for further updates on Jonathan Majors and his case on HotNewHipHop.
Last month, the year-long drama of Jonathan Majors assault trial finally came to a close. It came to a close with Majors being found guilty of assault and harassment, the two lesser of the four charges originally brought against him. He’s due to be sentenced next month and could face up to a year in prison. Many expect him to escape his sentencing without being his with any actual time behind bars.
In an interview that aired this morning on Good Morning America Majors broke his silence. He spoke out on the results of the trial for the first time since the verdict was handed down. In the interview he maintains his innocence despite the guilty ruling from the jury. He says in the interview that he was “shocked” by the verdict and that he believed the evidence was in his favor. He also uses the interview to defend a controversial leaked audio snippet. In the recording, he tells his ex-gf she needs to be more like Michelle Obama and Coretta Scott King. He stood behind the message and claimed he was just standing behind women he idolized. Check out Majors’ full interview below.
Elsewhere in the interview Majors made other claims that go fan’s attention. He confessed to cheating in the situation and claims that he could have avoided the whole situation if he had simply been “man enough” to just end the relationship instead of cheat. Majors also sent plenty of praise directed at his new girlfriend Meagan Good. Good was often spotted alongside him throughout the proceedings of his trial.
Some were surprised that Majors chose GMA for his interview in the first place. That’s because its network ABC is owned by Disney. Disney also owns Marvel, who recently cut Jonathan Majors from their Cinematic Universe series of superhero films. What do you think of Jonathan Majors first interview since he was found guilty in his recent assault trial? Let us know in the comment section below.
Troy Ave’s celebrating the guilty verdict in Taxstone’s murder case with the release of a brand new diss track. After a jury found the hip-hop podcaster guilty, the New York rapper dropped off his new single, “Dear Hater I Won.” The rapper shared a new video, including the subtitle “Taxstone Found Guilty,” which shows him in front of the court, suited up, as he celebrates his apparent win against the podcaster after a bitter legal war
The song opens up with clips of various media personalities discussing the case, and an apparent “letter,” in which Troy Ave says Taxstone sent a letter to the judge “snitching” on him. Evidently, Troy Ave feels vindicated by the results of the trial and he makes it known across the record. Tackling the ghastly production, Troy Ave comes through with a celebratory tone where he describes the shooting from his perspective and includes surveillance footage from Irving Plaza on the night of the shooting.
Troy Ave Blasts “Hater” Taxstone
Troy Ave dropped the song hours after a jury handed in the verdict. Taxstone was found guilty of manslaughter in the first degree, two counts of assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon with intent to unlawfully use against another person, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. However, he was cleared of second-degree murder charges and second-degree attempted murder.
During the trial, Troy Ave wound up taking the stand against Taxstone and detailing the murder. The testimony reduced what would’ve been a 15-year sentence to one year. He told the court that he fought Taxstone for the gun before it hit him in the leg. “If it’s fight or flight I’m always going to fight because at that point you could die,” he said. Check out his song above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.
Quotable Lyrics Got attempted murder ’cause I took the gun from him and bust back This ain’t no made up raps, I’m paraphrasing the facts I’m the king of the underground, you just a underground rat I rose up above the rodents, they tried to pull yo boy back
The court found the three codefendants accused of murdering XXXTENTACION to be guilty of first-degree murder. Moreover, on Monday (March 20), the month-long trial concluded upon the decision of a South Florida jury. Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams and Trayvon Newsome also faced a guilty conviction for charges of armed robbery with a firearm. Afterwards, sheriff’s deputies immediately handcuffed them in the courtroom. Each of the three perpetrators now face mandatory life sentences, although an official sentencing hearing will take place on a later date. Given X’s massive reach and the highly publicized legacy of his life and death, it’s been a long road to get to this point, five years after his death.
However, another codefendant, Robert Allen, actually became a state’s witness against his co-perpetrators in August of 2022. During their trial, he testified against the three accused men and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Said confessions gave the court more context as to what the motivations and dynamic of the murder were. Also, they debunked theories that other rappers like Drake actually instigated the murder or were part of a planned-out hit.
XXXTENTACION Killers Found Guilty
Still, Allen’s fate is unclear at the moment regarding his sentence, although that could soon come to light. Unsurprisingly, many reacted positively to the verdict, whether with jubilance or with resigned sadness. While it’s fulfilling and satisfying to see justice served, it’s not exactly the most celebratory of occasions. After all, X’s years-long absence will always be felt more powerfully than his killers’ incarceration. Even considering that these men will remain behind bars for life doesn’t get at the massive crisis that rappers face today, as they’re targeted for their image, wealth, possessions, and to make a headline.
Since X’s death, far too many rappers were lost at the hands of those wanting to steal their success. The three guilty men in this trial later flaunted their money and appeared quite pleased with themselves in released footage to the court. As many fans, loved ones, and regular people react to the verdict, many also acknowledge that the real work to help protect hip-hop is still yet to be done. Regardless, check out reactions below and return to HNHH for the latest updates on this story.
