DJ Khaled Sheds A Tear In His ‘God Did’ Cover Art

August 26 is shaping up to be a busy new music Friday. Not only is JID releasing his long-awaited third studio album The Forever Story and Meechy Darko his solo debut, Gothic Luxury, but DJ Khaled is also set to drop his own lucky album number 13, God Did. After sharing the video for the Drake and Lil Baby featuring “Staying Alive,” Khaled revealed his cover art for God Did, which features a closeup of DJ Khaled looking skyward and shedding a single tear — presumably one of gratitude for whatever God did.

Apparently, it occasionally takes an act of God to get his featured artists to turn in their verses on time — not to mention a little light B&E, as he recently revealed during a new episode of Drink Champs. He claims that in order to get Bryson Tiller’s contribution to their record-breaking 2017 Rihanna collaboration “Wild Thoughts,” he nearly had to hop the Louisville crooner’s fence.

“I’m calling Bryson, my album comes out in like in two weeks,” he said. “‘Yo bro, I need you need to cut the vocals over. You know that Rihanna’s vocals is in, you hear that, right? Everybody’s excited.’ He’s not picking up his phone… I need this done. I got f*ckin’ Rihanna vocals. One of my biggest records in my career. He not picking up the phone… He has a gate. I’m flashing my lights, honking my horns, sending texts. Nobody’s replying… Eventually, Bryson comes out, they open the gate — I was already climbing the gate.”

I guess that puts the question of what DJ Khaled actually does to bed at long last; he gets the job done, that’s what he does.

God Did is out 8/26 on Epic/We The Best. Pre-save it here.

DJ Khaled has announced his new album, GOD DID, will arrive on Friday, August 26, 2022. The first taste of the album will be the single “Staying Alive,” featuring Drake and Lil Baby.

Khaled announced the new collaboration will be available to fans this Friday, August 5. The new single continues the tradition of bangers created alongside Drake, including “POPSTAR,” “For Free,” “Greece,” “I’m On One” and more. Lil Baby and Khaled connected twice before on last summer’s banger “Every Chance I Get” and “You Stay.”

Last week, the new single was teased by Khaled on Instagram.

“They want to finish me, so I went and got Drake and Lil Baby,” Khaled said. “They never believed in me. Why do you think I win so much? Because of you.”

GOD DID is the name of DJ Khaled’s eagerly anticipated thirteenth full-length studio album, which is set to drop soon on We The Best Music Group/Epic Records. Recently, Khaled has come to be associated with the term GOD DID. It has become the motto of other superstars like Lebron James, Kevin Hart, FANLUV, and countless others.

Last month, Drake pulled up at DJ Khaled’s house in Miami for dinner, and of course, the moment was captured by Khaled.

“You know it’s only right I had to come for family dinner. I always have to stop by for family dinner, always,” Drake said to Khaled.

Khaled would then tease a forthcoming video, “Drake, I got to be real with you; the video treatment idea is incredible. Nah, the song we got, you’re a genius. The idea for the video is insane.”

DJ Khaled Announces ‘Staying Alive’ With Drake And Lil Baby And Reveals The ‘God Did’ Release Date

In July, DJ Khaled announced God Did, his thirteenth album, the follow-up to 2020’s Khaled Khaled, which featured 21 Savage, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Big Sean, and more. But he didn’t release a single alongside this announcement, and he didn’t offer a tracklist, or even a release date. However, today he unveiled some more information.

In a new Instagram post, DJ Khaled revealed that God Did is arriving on August 26th. The first single “Staying Alive” is out this Friday, August 5, and will feature Drake and Lil Baby. Read the full caption below.

In November of last year, DJ Khaled teased this song during his own birthday party, letting the crowd know that a new collaboration with Drake was in the offing. “I got some new music with Drake coming out real soon,” he said. “This sh*t sounds crazy too. The vocals are in!” In 2020, the pair also worked together on the track “Popstar,” which also featured Justin Bieber, so this isn’t their first time working alongside one another.

DJ Khaled is a taken man, and don’t you forget it. The We The Best legend received some fan luv when one attempted to hop in the car with him.

“This is a cool car. Can I come sit with you?” the fan asked.

Khaled promptly responded, “Oh nah, baby, I’m taken. Baby, I’m taken. I’m very happy, and I’m taken. Love and respect. Ladies, I’m taken, but my album coming out.”

DJ Khaled Announces His Thirteenth Album, ‘God Did’

You may be one of those people who constantly ask, “What exactly does DJ Khaled actually do?” And you know what? It’s high time you learned that it doesn’t matter what DJ Khaled actually does. He makes albums. He makes HITS. And now he’s got — say it with me — another one. That’s right, it’s time for the thirteenth studio album from DJ Khaled, hitmaker extraordinaire, God Did. As of now, there’s no release date or singles… but he’s DJ Khaled. He doesn’t need those things. He’s a one-man self-promotion army. And by god (see what I did there?), he’s gonna make sure you know he’s got an album coming out, even if all he’s got so far is a title.

But considering the eventful rollouts for the last handful of albums from Khaled, we can likely look forward to shenanigans both hilarious and genuinely entertaining as he pulls together the cross-branding opportunities and assembles a massive list of featured artists. His last album, 2021’s Khaled Khaled, featured an impressive slate that included 21 Savage, Bryson Tiller, Buju Banton, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, HER, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Megan Thee Stallion, Migos, Nas, Roddy Ricch, and more. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the RIAA. So yeah, DJ Khaled goes No. 1. He goes platinum. He makes some of the splashiest posse cuts since Heavy D did “Don’t Curse.” He doesn’t make his jumpers though. Can’t do everything.

God Did is out soon via We The Best and Epic.
