“The Killer’s Game” trailer is here. The Lionsgate film starring Dave Bautista and Terry Crews looks like a fun time soon to hit the big screen. 

From director JJ Perry, the action comedy is produced by Andrew Lazar, Steve Richards and Kia Jam. Casting on “The Killer’s Game” also includes Sofia Boutella, Scott Adkins, Pom Klementieff and Ben Kingsley to name a few. 

Here’s the official story synopsis:

In the new action-comedy The Killer’s Game, when top hitman Joe Flood (Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late.

Bautista executive produces the film alongside Jonathan Meisner, Chris Milburn, Thane Watkins, Peter E. Strauss, Scott Lambert, Dean Altit and Adam Fields.

“The Killer’s Game” hits theaters on September 13. So we have a wait a hot second but it should be worth it.

Trailer for LEGO Animated Pharrell Williams Biopic Featuring Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, and More Released

The trailer for Pharrell Williams’ upcoming biopic and it’s exactly what we expected—immense unadulterated and epic creativity. The iconic producer will be voicing himself in animated LEGO form, accompanied by some A-list collaborators from his chart-topping career.

Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg are among the guest stars from Williams’ 30-year career that will feature in “Piece by Piece.” The trailer depicts a LEGO-ized version of Williams, Hugo, and Snoop Dogg devising the hit “Drop it Like it’s Hot.” It also revealed that the film would include new music from Williams, adding another layer of excitement for fans.

Announced in January by Focus Features, the film is directed by Morgan Neville. Neville shared that Williams approached him five years ago with the unique concept for the biopic.

“When I had this crazy vision to tell this story through LEGO bricks, I couldn’t have imagined a better partner than Morgan. He is a legend,” Williams said in a statement. “Who would’ve thought that playing with these toys as a kid would evolve into a movie about my life? It’s proof that anyone else can do it too.”

Morgan Neville, primarily known as a documentary filmmaker, won an Oscar for his 2014 feature “20 Feet From Stardom,” which explores the careers and lives of backup singers. Neville’s expertise in bringing real-life stories to the screen in an engaging manner makes him a fitting choice for this innovative project.

As half of the foundational production duo The Neptunes, Williams has set the backdrop for some of music’s greatest hits. Formed in Virginia Beach in 1992 by childhood friends Williams and Chad Hugo, The Neptunes quickly rose to prominence, writing and producing for artists such as Teddy Riley, The Clipse, Usher, Nelly, and Britney Spears. Pharrell’s iconic four-count instrumental opening tags chart-toppers from Kelis’ “Milkshake” to Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” to Williams’ own “Happy.”

“Piece by Piece” will be released in theaters on October 11. The anticipation is high for this unique blend of animation, music history, and the inspiring story of Pharrell Williams. You can watch the trailer below:

Once again, Tyler Perry is set to write and direct another project. In his robust deal with Netflix, the mogul is doing just that with his upcoming drama “Straw,” starring Taraji P. Henson, Sherri Shepherd, and Teyana Taylor. Nice cast! 

The story seems interesting enough and centers on a single mother who faces a series of unfortunate events that lead her down an unexpected path. 

Check out more from the official logline: “She becomes entangled in a situation she never imagined and finds herself at the center of suspicion in a world that seems indifferent to her existence.”

The cast includes Glynn Turman, Sinbad, Rockmond Dunbar, and Mike Merrill. Perry will produce the movie alongside Angi Bones and Tony Strickland. 

As mentioned “Straw” is part of Perry’s ongoing creative collaboration with Netflix, the world’s biggest streaming studio, under a multi-year, first-look deal, which includes other projects like “The Six Triple Eight” and the drama series “Beauty in Black.”

De La Soul To Showcase Revealing ‘Chapter 3’ Documentary On YouTube June 7

De La Soul, the legendary hip-hop group, is set to showcase their highly anticipated documentary, Chapter 3, beginning June 7 through June 14 on YouTube, as well as the band’s Facebook, Twitter and official website. Chapter 3 chronicles the iconic studio sessions leading up to the 2023 re-release and remaster of De La Soul’s catalog, one of the most storied music collections in hip-hop. These sessions marked the first time in almost three decades that Posdnuos, Dave, Maseo, and producer Prince Paul ventured into the same studio together in service of a De La Soul project. 

Fans can view the live stream presentation series, broadcasting daily in different time zones. The schedule is as follows:

On June 14, the documentary live stream will redirect to the official music video premiere of  “The Magic Number” at 3:30 PM EST. 

“The Magic Number” music video is a riff on two dueling concepts that have long been part of the De La Soul brand: The Soul and artificial intelligence (AI). With their Artofficial Intelligence (AOI) albums, De La Soul proved to be ahead of their time, discussing the concept of AI and its impact on art.  This video was created using generative art based AI to make  uniquely timely. However, without the heart infused by the De La Soul members themselves, it’s missing the vital “Soul” element, revealing an important commentary on AI’s place in art.

This project began while Dave was still alive and transformed into something deeply poignant following his passing in February 2023. Pos and Maseo’s efforts to support the De La brand during this pivotal moment are a testament to their dedication and resilience. “The Magic Number” stands as a companion piece to the documentary, showcasing De La’s last time as a trio, which is sadly the last time all three members were together.

There is hope for the exhaustion with superhero films now that Sony Pictures just unveiled the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, the final installment in the Spider-Man villain trilogy. Tom Hardy reprises his role as Eddie Brock, the host of the brain-eating symbiote Venom. The movie is described as “the final film in the trilogy,” with a logline that states, “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”

The exciting trailer features Hardy confronting a massive symbiote alien from Venom’s home planet … Full stop. Can we talk about how this feels like an alien invasion film? Not complaining but just sayin … Anyways, the symbiotic alien is being pursued by government agents. Trailer highlights include intense symbiote action and a scene where Hardy rides a super-fast, Venom-ized horse. The film also stars Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Fans of the beloved comic franchise recently saw Venom teased in the MCU’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” post-credits scene, where the character was affected by Dr. Strange’s multiverse spell, briefly bringing him into the MCU. However, he was sent back to his universe, leaving behind a piece of his symbiote.

The studio confirmed “Venom 3” at CinemaCon 2022 after the success of its predecessors. The original “Venom” grossed $856 million globally, and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” garnered $502 million worldwide despite its pandemic release.

Kelly Marcel, who wrote the previous films, makes her directorial debut with “Venom: The Last Dance” and co-wrote the script with Hardy. Let’s applaud more women directing in Hollywood and we need more of this! The film is produced by Marcel, Hardy, Avi Arad, Hutch Parker, Amy Pascal, and Matt Tolmach.

Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters on October 25.

Two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali is in talks to star in the upcoming Jurassic World film alongside Marvel’s Avengers star Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey.

As reported in The Hollywood Reporter, Ali is considering joining the star-studded cast, which already includes Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Rupert Friend. This film will be the next chapter in the multi-billion dollar Jurassic World franchise. It will be directed by Gareth Edwards, who you may know from the Godzilla and Warner Bros monsters universe. Production is set to begin in mid-June in London.

The creative story direction of the new story remains uncertain, particularly after the last film dramatically altered Jurassic World by releasing dinosaurs into the wild, thus endangering the ecosystem. While fans anticipate that future films will address these consequences, The Hollywood Reporter does note that no plot details have been disclosed. And, honestly, that’s common these days.

David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, has returned to write the script for this installment. That’s a good sign. Fans who believe the franchise has strayed might find comfort in Koepp’s return to the pages, potentially signaling a nod to the franchise’s roots.

Steven Spielberg will serve as executive producer through Amblin Entertainment, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley producing via Kennedy/Marshall. Universal’s executive vice president of production, Sara Scott, will oversee the project, with the studio’s creative executive Jacqueline Garell.

The film is set for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release. Thankfully. Theaters. Yes!

The appearance was the first for both stars since they announced they had been separated for seven years. Also in attendance was the entire Smith family, including their children Willow and Jaden, Will’s son Trey, and Jada’s mom, Adrienne Banfield-Norris.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is here. Following early screenings on Thursday evening, social media is talking that talk with reactions to the newest installment of the Will Smith, Martin Lawrence action franchise. “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” screenings occurred in major cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, D.C., Houston, Philadelphia, Miami, and Los Angeles.

Get this, some fans were lucky at one particular screening in Los Angeles, where stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence made a surprise appearance, handing out hot dogs and Skittles, a nod to one of the film’s opening scenes. 

The duo returns to lead the cast, which also features newcomers and familiar faces such as Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Nuñez, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Jacob Scipio, Melanie Liburd, and Tasha Smith, with appearances by Tiffany Haddish and Joe Pantoliano.

Critics have praised the film. The Wrap’s Drew Taylor commented, “The new mystery is compelling” and noted that the “action sequences are loaded with inventive staging and camerawork.” 

Screen Rant’s Owen Danoff added, “The action is just as good as you’d expect, and it might be the funniest yet.”

Directed by Adil & Bilall, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” is written by Chris Bremner. The film is produced by Will Smith, Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, and Doug Belgrad, with executive producers Barry Waldman, Mike Stenson, James Lassiter, Jon Mone, Chris Bremner, and Martin Lawrence.
