Pharrell Not Phased by Drake’s Reported Melting Down of Williams’ Old Jewelry

Screen Shot 2024 11 13 at 1.14.05 PM

Pharrell Williams has entered the beef chat, kinda. The Piece by Piece lego producer apparently shown no signs of being rattled by Drake’s recent reference to him and his jewelry in the track “MELTDOWN” from Travis Scott’s UTOPIA. Gotta play that one.

The bar in question appears to be a pointed jab, possibly connected to the ongoing tensions with Pharrell’s longtime collaborator Pusha T. Drake’s verse includes the provocative lines: “Man, f* all that spinnin’ the narrative s* / I melt down the chains that I bought from yo’ boss / Give a f* about all of that heritage s*.” A ha. Makes sense now.

However, when asked about the diss during a recent interview, Pharrell’s response was notably calm. “It didn’t [strike me],” he said with a shrug. When the interviewer pressed further, he simply reiterated, “No.” His unbothered reaction highlighted his lack of concern regarding the lyric and any implied tension.

A non response is usually a response. FTR.

Pharrell was also asked about Drake’s purchase of over a million dollars’ worth of his jewelry, including chains and pendants with N.E.R.D. and BBC logos, which had been part of his 2022 sale through JOOPITER. These pieces later appeared in Drake’s “Jumbotron S**t Poppin” music video in January 2023. Despite Drake’s lyrics seemingly referencing melting down these pieces, Pharrell remained unfazed, offering a broader perspective on the situation. “I think beyond all of the on-goings,” Pharrell explained, “At the heart of it, he’s a fan of music. He’s a fan of the history of what it is, and I happen to be a part of that, and those artifacts are a part of it.”

That’s a respectful neutral tone. Gotta love it.

In Pharrell’s view, the situation was less about the personal drama and more about the legacy of the music and the cultural history represented by the jewelry. His response underscored his focus on the bigger picture, choosing not to engage in the back-and-forth or let the drama distract him.

Yes, legacy matters. More people in the industry should understand that and FTR we believe Drizzy does.

That said, despite the tension implied by Drake’s lyrics, Pharrell’s composed reaction makes it clear that he’s not losing sleep over the situation. Instead, he remains centered on his work and the influence he’s had on music history.

Well, there you have it. Music referenced melting down some gold and Pharrell didn’t have a meltdown over the music. Boom

PnB Rock’s Murder Possibly Linked to Inside Setup Says True Crime Analyst

Screen Shot 2024 11 13 at 12.01.48 PM

Just when things could not have gone darker for the aftermath of PnB Rock’s murder, new revelations suggest that the killing could have been an inside job involving people who were already in close proximity to the victim. That’s just messed up on so many levels.

Okay the theory came about after Ana Garcia, an analyst from True Crime News, recently appeared on CBS Philadelphia to share new insights into the tragic incident.

Get this, Garcia presented footage from inside the Los Angeles location of Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles, where PnB Rock was fatally shot, highlighting key details that pointed to a potential inside setup.

Here’s what she said …

“There’s someone that spots him and does a fist bump,” Garcia explained, referencing a key moment captured on video. “We see this on video. That person then contacted someone else — a father and son team.” According to Garcia, the timing of PnB Rock’s meal arrival was suspicious, with his food being delayed for about 40 minutes, a move that seemingly allowed the killers to arrive and carry out the attack.

Garcia further clarified that the rapper’s girlfriend, who had been widely blamed for his death due to a photo she posted on social media, was not responsible. Thankfully.

“She didn’t get to post that photo until much later,” Garcia said. “It was those two (in the restaurant) that were responsible for the death of PnB. The setup was just to steal his jewelry.” Garcia emphasized that the blame directed at his girlfriend was unwarranted. “Social media and other celebrities jumped all over to blame her,” she said. “But it wasn’t her fault.” Now let’s leave his surviving GF out of this, once and for all.

What’s more, while it remains to be seen whether the alleged informant who signaled the killers will face any legal consequences, justice has already been served for PnB Rock. In September, Freddie Trone was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison after being convicted of murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and two counts of second-degree robbery. Prosecutors argued that Trone had instructed his son, who was just 17 at the time, to shoot and kill the Philadelphia artist.

Initially, Trone denied any involvement in the crime, claiming he was not present at the scene. However, surveillance footage contradicted his story, showing him in the parking lot of Roscoe’s 30 minutes before the shooting occurred. Trone later claimed he was simply handling business related to his nearby beauty shop.

All over some jewelry. SMH.

Former Diddy Escorts Lining Up to Cooperate

Diddy Defends ‘Super Free Thinker’ Kanye West: 'We Don’t Have To Condemn Kanye'

Bad Boy Entertainment mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently being held without bond on serious human trafficking charges in New York. Federal investigators are delving into allegations surrounding the notorious “Freak Off” parties Diddy allegedly hosted, and they are now interviewing former male escorts who attended these events, some of whom are coming forward to share their stories with authorities.

The investigation seeks to uncover details about the nature of these gatherings and the involvement of those present. According to a federal law enforcement source, many former escorts, now in their 40s, have recalled intricate details about what went on during these parties. They describe being given performance-enhancing drugs like Viagra and Cialis before the events and claim there were explicit expectations about their roles. “They were expected to perform and were told if they didn’t perform, they’d be thrown out of the party and not paid,” the source said.

Federal authorities are also looking into whether any participants at these parties were underage or if anyone was coerced into performing acts against their will. As the investigation unfolds, more people familiar with the events are coming forward, shedding light on the controversial gatherings that have recently put the hip-hop icon at the center of legal scrutiny.

This latest development follows other allegations and lawsuits involving Combs, with numerous witnesses now offering similar accounts of experiences that allegedly took place at the events.

The Source Magazine Remembers The MOVE 9 Bombing 39 Years Later

Today marks the 39th commemoration of the bombing at 62nd and Osage Avenue in West Philadelphia in 1985

MOVE, which was originally called the Christian Movement for Life, was founded in 1972. Its founder, John Afrika born Vincent Leaphart on July 26, 1931 in the Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia, was functionally illiterate, so he dictated a document called The Guideline with Donald Glassey, a social worker from the University of Pennsylvania with whom he collaborated with. Glassey’s notes would eventually become the document. Afrika along with his mostly Black followers wore their hair in locs, advocated a political ideology that aims to create an ecologically sustainable society rooted in environmentalism, non-violence, social justice, grassroots democracy and a return to a hunter-gatherer society, while stating their opposition to science, medicine and technology. As John Afrika himself had done, MOVE members also changed their surnames to Afrika to show reverence to it, which they regarded as their mother continent.

All living beings, things that move, are equally important, whether they are human beings, dogs, birds, fish, trees, ants, weeds, rivers, wind or rain. To stay healthy and strong, life must have clean air, clear water and pure food. If deprived of these things, life will cycle to the next level, or as the system says, ‘die’.”
– John Afrika

John Afrika’s MOVE members lived in a commune in a house owned by Glassey in the Powelton Village section of West Philadelphia. They staged bullhorn-amplified, profanity-laced demonstrations against institutions which they opposed morally, such as zoos, and speakers whose views they opposed. MOVE made compost piles of garbage and human waste in their yards which attracted rats and cockroaches; they considered it morally wrong to kill the vermin with pest control. MOVE attracted much hostility from their neighbors, the majority of whom were African-Americans. Thier activities drew close scrutiny from law enforcement authorities and the police department engaged in a shootout on August 8, 1978, in which Officer James J. Ramp was struck and killed. Afrika and MOVE contend that Ramp was not shot by a member, but by one of the police department’s own men.

After that shootout, the MOVE 9 members Chuck, Debbie, Delbert, Eddie, Janet, Janine, Merle, Mike and Phil Afrika, were sentenced to 30-plus years for the killing of Ramp. Law enforcement officials obtained indictments on the implicated members of MOVE and, on May 13, 1985, attempted to arrest them, which led to an armed standoff with MOVE and subsequent death of the group members by the Philadelphia Police Department. During the raid, John Afrika was killed along with six other adults and four children when the Philadelphia Police Department head of bomb disposal, on board a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter, dropped a satchel containing a gel-based explosive on a fortified bunker occupied by members of MOVE. The resulting explosion started a fire that resulted in the destruction of 65 homes in the neighborhood. The order was given by city officials to “let the fire burn”. The explosion, fire, and shootout killed all but two members of MOVE who were present, leaving Ramona and Birdie Afrika severely burned. Birdie was released while Ramona went on to serve her maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.

In his new book to be released April 21, 2015 entitled “Writing on the Wall”, edited by Joanna Hernandez, political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal compares the issues of the MOVE 9 to the current era 30 years later with police brutality still being a major issue of our time.

I don’t mean bombing people…not yet, that is…I mean the visceral hatreds and violent contempt once held for MOVE is now visited upon average people; not just for radicals and revolutionaries, like MOVE.”

Ray J Claims Celebs Are Paying Off Alleged Victims to Avoid Lawsuits Associated with Diddy

Ray J claims some of Diddy’s friends and associates are willing to pay off alleged victims to remain quiet.

According to TMZ, Ray J appears in the new Tubi doc, The Downfall of Diddy: Inside the Freak-Offs, where he believes some high-profile celebs are throwing money at the accusations.

Attorney Tony Buzbee, who has sent letters to celebrities asking for settlements to dismiss possible lawsuits, is also present in the document.

Diddy Performs and Honored with Global Icon Award at VMAs

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee previously announced he is representing more than 120 individuals, including 25 minors, who accuse Bad Boy Entertainment CEO Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs of severe and abusive misconduct. During a press conference held in Texas, Buzbee revealed that his clients have come forward with allegations ranging from physical abuse to claims of sexual misconduct.

Among the most alarming accusations are those from individuals who were minors at the time of the alleged incidents. The accusations have sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, given Combs’ influential status in music and business. However, the details of the claims remain largely undisclosed as legal proceedings are yet to begin.

In response, Diddy has vehemently denied the accusations. According to ABC 7 NY, Combs’ attorney, Erica Wolff, released a statement addressing the escalating situation:

“Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors,” Wolff said. “He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court if and when claims are filed and served, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”

Wolff also referred to the growing controversy as a “reckless media circus” and stated that Diddy is prepared to contest any claims brought against him in court.

Despite Diddy’s denial, the public attention surrounding the case continues to intensify. Buzbee, known for his high-profile legal work, has taken on the case with a promise to seek justice for the alleged victims, emphasizing that many of the accusers have faced significant trauma.

As of now, no formal legal complaints have been filed, but the possibility of a court battle looms on the horizon. Both sides have expressed their readiness to present their cases, setting the stage for what could be a highly publicized legal showdown. With the number of accusers and the nature of the allegations, this case could have major implications not only for Diddy but also for the entertainment industry as a whole.

TodayinHipHopHistory:ODBWasBornYearsAgo

20 years ago today, the Hip-Hop community lost one of its most eccentric, yet essential personalities that the game has ever known. Russell Jones, better known to the world as Ol’ Dirty Bastard, passed away just two days shy of his 36th birthday.

Ironically, Dirty took us through his 36th Chamber at the inception of his unprecedented career with his gold certified Return To The 36th Chamber debut in March of 1995. The Osiris of the WTC legacy followed up with another solo album entitled N***a Please as well as a posthumous release.

Ol’ Dirty will always be remembered by his loved ones and his fans as an original personality who wasn’t afraid to storm the stage during the Grammys, pick up food stamps in a limo on MTV, or repeatedly declare on The Arsenio Hall Show that the Blackman is God.

This Friday, which would’ve been the Wu Tang co-founder’s 56th birthday, his family is hosting a special screening of th A&E special documentary A Tale Of Two Dirty’s in his hometown of Brooklyn, where there will also be a panel discussion about the documentary and the impact of mental health.

SOURCE SPORTS: [WATCH] Did Francisco Lindor Visit L.A. In An Attempt To Help Mets Recruit Soto?

For the past week, the talk of New York has been that the Mets have been “super aggressive” in their attempt to land former New York Yankee and MLB’s top free agent Juan Soto in a Mets uniform by Opening Day 2025. It has been confirmed that Mets owner Steve Cohen has offered up almost $200 million to free agents and contract finalizations, creating the conditions to give Soto and his agent Scott Boras what he wants in order to bring him to Citi Field.

The question is how far will Cohen and Stearns go to get Soto? Rumor is that NL MVP finalist Francisco Lindor flew to Los Angeles on Sunday, just a few days after it was reported that Cohen, Soto and Boras are scheduled to have a meeting in L.A. about the 2025 season and beyond with the Mets.

See what Lindor has to say about the reason for his trip to L.A. and if he plans to meet with Cohen, Soto and Boras HERE

Lindor said that he wishes “nothing but the best” for the Yankees slugger and added, “I hope he makes the best decision for himself and his family.”

Lindor maybe the key in Soto’s final decision, being that he is being courted by several other organizations including the Dodgers, Red Sox, Blue Jays and Giants while even the Bombers have stated they’d love to have #22 baxck again next season.

It has been estimated that Soto’s final contract could range from $600-700 million over the next 12 to 14 years.
