RiTchie Links With Producer FearDorian For Six-Track EP “Quiet Warp Xpress”

It was just several months ago that RiTchie (Nathaniel Ritchie of Injury Reserve) began his solo career. The Phoenix, Arizona multi-genre talent did so by delivering “RiTchie Valens”. That would eventually go on to be the lead-off track for his solo debut album, Triple Digits [112]. The 14-song offering went on to receive some pretty decent reviews from fans and critics for its wild experimentation. It boasted features from the likes of Amine, Quelle Chris, and Niontay. After that, RiTchie decided to keep up the production just earlier this month with another single, “Cc Me”. For it, he recruited FearDorian, another fellow undergrounder who has been making some noise working with the likes of AyooLi and Polo Perks.

They put out their collaborative record, A Dog’s Chance, this past June. “Cc Me” would go on to serve as a lead single for this new joint EP between RiTchie and Dorian, Quiet Warp Xpress. This new duo would give us one more just a few days prior to this six-track effort’s release with the second-to-last cut, “Broke The Mold”. Both artists overall have very quirky and off-the-wall tendencies, so them linking for an extended play isn’t too surprising. However, what is a little shocking is the lack of cohesion and how rough it sounds. Reviews online are pointing to the loose song structures and nonchalant performances by RiTchie. We have to say we sort of agree with those opinions, sadly, However, we still want you to check out as much new music as possible so spin Quiet Warp Xpress and let us know what you think.

RiTchie And FearDorian Cast A Hazy Spell With New Single “CC Me”

RiTchie is a singular hip hop talent. He sounds like a narcoleptic Earl Sweatshirt. He sounds like he’s trying not to laugh while he’s rapping. Lots of eccentricities that would be a disaster with another artist, and yet, he makes them work. RiTchie’s talents require a very specific sonic foundation to work, and fortunately, FearDorian knows the right buttons to push. The rapper and producer are linking up for an entire EP, and their new single, “CC Me,” has our expectations sky high. The beat isn’t particularly unique, nor is RiTchie’s subject matter, but together they blend into something singular.

The goofy vocal sample at the top of the song says it all. These two don’t take themselves serious. RiTchie likens himself to Ken Griffey, Jr. is the most unenthused manner possible, but the rhyme scheme he dishes out is undeniable. He flows effortlessly over this very start-and-stop drum pattern. Have fun trying to determine what RiTchie is talking about from one bar to the next. It’s a word salad of slick lines and clever punchlines. It’s worth noting, though, that “CC Me” is the opening track on the upcoming EP Quiet Warp Express. One can assume that RiTchie and FearDorian have an overarching concept in mind given the driving theme that gets introduced at the tail end of the song. We’re excited to see where this goes.

POLO PERKS, stylized as POLO PERKS <3 <3 <3, is becoming one of hip-hop’s more unique artists thanks to his relationship with producer FearDorian. It seems that the combo of the Harlem, New Yorker and Atlanta Georgian are always looking to challenge each other in the studio. That was certainly the case on the most recent single, “Ricky Eats Acid”. Now, POLO PERKS is back not too long after that April 26 release with “Skatepark”.

In the rapper is several projects deep and has been in the game since 2018.
