SOURCE SPORTS: Eagles’ Barkley, Rams’ Kinchens, and Cardinals’ Gillikin Named NFC Players of the Week

Saquon Barkley

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Los Angeles Rams safety Kamren Kinchens, and Arizona Cardinals punter Blake Gillikin have been named NFC Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Players of the Week for Week 9.

Barkley led the Eagles to a 28-23 victory over Jacksonville, accumulating 199 scrimmage yards (159 rushing, 40 receiving) and scoring two touchdowns. He is now the second player in NFL history to achieve at least 110 scrimmage yards in seven of his first eight games with a team, joining Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson. This is Barkley’s sixth Offensive Player of the Week award and his third this season, making him only the second Eagle, alongside Michael Vick, to earn the honor three times in a season. He also surpasses Kerry Collins as the Penn State alum with the most Player of the Week awards.

Rookie Kamren Kinchens played a crucial role in the Rams’ 26-20 overtime win over Seattle, logging three tackles and two fourth-quarter interceptions, including a 103-yard return for a touchdown. This return is tied for the longest interception return by a rookie in NFL history, and it’s the longest fourth-quarter, go-ahead touchdown by a rookie. Kinchens becomes just the second Rams rookie to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors and joins an elite list of former Miami Hurricanes to do so as a rookie.

Blake Gillikin’s precise punts were instrumental in Arizona’s 20-9 win over Chicago. He punted four times, with three landing inside the 20-yard line and two inside the 10. This is his first Special Teams Player of the Week award, placing him in the company of Jeff Feagles and Ben Graham as the only Cardinals punters to earn this honor, and making him the first Penn State punter to win the award.

Saquon Barkley Sets NFL World On Fire By Signing With The Eagles

Saquon Barkley is easily one of the best and most dynamic running backs in the entire NFL when he is healthy. Overall, the New York Giants have been very lucky to have him. However, it has become increasingly clear that he would leave the team in free agency. The team had no interest in a franchise tag, and they were essentially letting Barkley walk. Today, players could sign with new teams, and Barkley made his decision just about an hour ago. As you will see, it was a bombshell.

Barkley is now going to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants’ division rival will now get the services of a dominant running back. Of course, this was explosive news and Giants fans were the victims of it all. Now, they have to face Barkley twice a year, and there is no doubt that he will be motivated to go up against his former team. As for the contract itself, he will be getting $37.75 million over three years and $26 million is guaranteed. Moreover, he has incentives that can bring his entire deal up to $46.75 million.

Jason Kelce In Tears While Announcing His Retirement

Jason Kelce has been a huge presence in the NFL over the last decade and a half. However, he has become an even bigger star thanks to the podcasting world. He has been doing a show with his brother Travis called New Heights and fans tune in every week to hear their insights on the NFL weekend. Moreover, the show reached new heights (pun fully intended) in 2023 thanks to Travis’ relationship with Taylor Swift. Swifties would tune into the show every week just to hear if she was mentioned.

As for Jason and his NFL career, fans knew his time was winding down. After losing in the Super Bowl, some felt like that could have been his last hoorah. However, he decided to come back this year knowing the roster would be similar. Unfortunately, the Eagles could not get it done down the stretch. This eventually led to the team going out in the Wild Card round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Subsequently, there was all sorts of speculation that Kelce would retire. While he refused to make a definitive statement at first, he finally came around and revealed his decision today.

During his time with the Eagles, he won a Super Bowl and was consistently graded as one of the best centers in the league. He will likely be headed to the Hall of Fame, and his brother will be soon behind him. It is a bittersweet moment for Eagles fans and it most certainly marks the end of an era.

Jason Kelce Addresses Retirement Reports

Jason Kelce used the latest episode of his New Heights podcast to clarify reports that he is retiring from the NFL. “I just don’t think you’re in a position after a game like that to really make that decision. There’s too much emotion in the moment. There’s too much going down in the moment to really fully grasp that decision. It’s just something that I think, when it’s time to officially announce what’s happening in the future, it’ll be done in a way that’s definitive and pays respect to a lot of people and individuals that have meant a lot to me and what has led to the career I’ve had,” Kelce told his brother.

After Kelce’s Eagles were dumped out of the playoffs by the Buccaneers, reports emerged that Kelce had told his teammates he would be retiring. Kelce is 36 and has played in Philly since the Eagles drafted him in 2011. Kelce, a six-time All-Pro center, is widely seen as a future Hall of Famer. The four other six-time All-Pro centers are all Hall of Famers. Kelce returned to the Eagles for 2023 on a one-year contract, which officially expires in March.

Who Is Jason Kelce?

Kelce has been the Eagles’ starting center since they drafted him in the sixth round of the 2011 Draft. However, he began his football career as a walk-on running back at the University of Cincinnati. Later, he would transition to the offensive line during his redshirted freshman year. After starting 38 games for the Bearcats, he was seen as a fourth-round or later prospect due to a lack of size.

However, he has become an era-defining center for Philadelphia. He has appeared in, and started, 193 games for the Eagles, protecting everyone from Micheal Vick to Carson Wentz to Jalen Hurts. Overall, Kelce has been the battery mate of eight starting QBs for the Eagles. Additionally, he has made two Super Bowls, including a win at Super Bowl LII. Kelce’s retirement becomes yet another storyline for NFL fans to follow during the offseason.

Travis Kelce And Taylor Swift’s Parents To Meet At Chiefs-Eagles

Not only will this week’s Monday Night Football game see Travis Kelce face off against his brother, but his parents are also expected to meet the parents of Taylor Swift. While plans aren’t fully confirmed, Andrea and Scott Swift are expected to share a luxury box with Donna and Ed Kelce, according to ET. Taylor’s father is reportedly a massive Eagles fan, although Travis claims to have converted him to the Chiefs fandom.

This claim, made on the Kelce Brothers’ podcast, New Heights, prompted Jason to shoot Scott Swift a DM. “What are we doing, Scott? You’re gonna let this man’s devilish good looks and relationship with your daughter sway you from a lifetime of fandom, Scott? Ridiculous,” Jason’s message to Swift read. However, it’s unclear if Taylor herself will be in attendance. She is due to perform in Rio de Janeiro for the three nights preceding the game. However, much like Kelce did to come see her in Argentina, she might pull a marathon trip to make the game.

Kelce Speaks On Argentina Trip

Furthermore, Kelce used the latest podcast episode to speak on his recent trip to Argentina. Kelce admitted that he was “blown away” by an impromptu lyric change that Taylor Swift made to shout him out at a concert in Argentina last week. “Definitely when I heard it come out of her mouth, it still shocked me and blew me away,” he said. “I was like, ‘Oh, shhh! She really just said that! All right!’” Travis told his brother on their podcast.

Additionally, Travis revealed more about the dinner in Buenos Aires that he and Swift were spotted at by an ESPN reporter. According to Kelce, it also featured Swift’s dad. It’s unclear if this was the first time that Kelce had met Swift’s family. Kelce has put something of a lock on his relationship in recent weeks. However, he was happy to talk about Argentina since it was largely “public knowledge”.

Remy Ma & Eazy The Block Captain Spotted Together At Eagles Game

Just when you thought the dust settled in the Remy Ma and Eazy The Block Captain debacle, the two popped out together, sparking rumors surrounding their relationship. Earlier this week, the Terror Squad rapper and the famed battle rap star were spotted together at the Eagles game. Although the footage doesn’t really indicate much, it seems that the two were engaged in some pleasant conversation while the man behind the camera taunted them. “Look at Remy Ma, y’all,” he said as he panned his camera towards Remy and Eazy.

Eazy and Remy’s relationship remains unclear, especially as she and Papoose appear to still be together. However, Remy and Eazy have spurred rumors of a romance between them over the past few months. First, it began when they were spotted together sharing a meal. A photo of the two shared by Tasha K alleged that they were on a date. However, Remy previously denied that she and Eazy The Block Captain are romantically involved with one another.

Remy Ma’s alleged entanglement with Eazy The Block Captain was exposed during his battle against Geechi Gotti back in September. During the battle, Gotti went all in, alleging that Remy Ma had been unfaithful to Papoose, her husband of 15 years and the father of her child. The salacious battle made headlines across the internet and rumors later surfaced that Pap and Eazy got into a fight.

However, Remy later cleared up the rumors of a scrap between Papoose and Eazy in a statement shared on social media. “I’d like to apologize to everyone that was disappointed tonight because we couldn’t get 3 full rounds from all the opponents… I tried…and can y’all pleasee STOP with the Eazy & Pap LIES,” she tweeted. “There’s NO place like Chrome! Cooper Kupp Expected To Make Season Debut Against The Eagles

Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is expected to make his season debut this weekend as the Rams face the Eagles. Kupp has missed the Rams’ first four games through injury and has not played since Week 9 of last season. When Kupp went down in Week 9, he had 812 yards and was on pace for a record-breaking season. “WR Cooper Kupp is expected to play against the Eagles barring any setbacks, per sources. The Rams are being cautious, keeping him on a count at practice. I’m told he’s felt good enough to extend for the football, even making a one-handed grab,” The Athletic‘s Diana Rossini reported.

However, the Rams will not have to rush Kupp right back into a full workload. Rookie wideout Puka Nacua has shone in a starring role for the team, racking up 501 yards through his first four games in the league. He also set a record for single-game receptions by a rookie. The Rams are 2-2 and come off a win over the Colts last week. However, losses to the Niners and Bengals have the Rams slipping behind in the divisional race. They are currently third behind the Niners and Seahawks.

Dolphins Trade For Claypool

Elsewhere in the league, the Dolphins have traded for Chase Claypool. The Dolphins have traded a fifth-round pick for Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool and a seventh-round pick. The move ends the brief feud Claypool had with the team. After Claypool complained about his place in Chicago’s offense, he was benched for their game last weekend against the Broncos. In fact, Claypool claims that he was told by the team to stay home. He was once again absent from the Bears’ Thursday night game against the Commanders.

The Bears traded for Claypool last November in hopes of helping spark an offensive change for Justin Field. However, Claypool was largely disappointing, recording 191 yards on 18 receptions through 10 games in Chicago. This season, Claypool had 51 yards on four receptions.

Chiefs To Host Eagles In Week 11

The closer we get to the NFL schedule release (May 11, 8pm EDT), the more fixtures that are seemingly leaked. So far, we know about the international games, several holiday fixtures, and even Aaron Rodgers’ Jets debut. It almost feels like the NFL is way too eager to announce the schedules. HotNewHipHop will have full coverage of all schedule-related news.

However, the Kansas City Chiefs have been the subject of more leaks and reveals than most. They will play the first game of the season at home against Detroit. Week 9 has them in Frankfurt to face the Dolphins. Meanwhile, they have back-to-back holiday games at home, hosting the Raiders on Christmas and the Bengals on New Year’s Eve. That’s already about a quarter of their season made public. It also points to the Chiefs getting a lot of premier games at home.

Latest Leaks Pits Chiefs Against Eagles

The latest rumor from the NFL schedule comes from the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane. According to McLane, the Eagles will travel to Arrowhead Stadium on November 20 for a Monday Night Football rematch of the Super Bowl. McLane also said that the Eagles will begin the season on the road aganst the Patriots. The Chiefs have won four consecutive games against the Eagles. the last Eagles win came in 2009. However, to find the last Eagles win at Arrowhead, you have to go back to 2006. Despite this, the Eagles have come a long way since the Donovan McNabb days. Could they finally find another win in Missouri?

So much has changed since the Chiefs bested the Eagles in Arizona this past February. The Chiefs largely remain the same on the field, with minimal turnover. However, longtime OC Eric Bieniemy left for the Commanders, promoting former Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy to the run the offense. Meanwhile, the Eagles used their wealth of draft picks to add more elite defensive talent as they look to avoid heartbreak for a second year. Do you think the Eagles can beat the Chiefs in this Super Bowl rematch? Or do you think the Chiefs continue their run of dominance against Philadelphia? Let us know in the comments.

Lil Uzi Vert Crowned A “Rockstar” By Eagles Player A.J. Brown

Lil Uzi Vert is a “rockstar” according to Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. Moreover, the player recently spoke on the Raw Room podcast about the time they walked the team out for their NFC Championship Game this year. While many probably remember the Eagles beating the Chiefs and advancing to the Super Bowl, they probably remember their eventual loss at the big game a bit more strongly. Still, Brown recounted the short but comical interaction the two had in the locker room before their championship victory. From what Brown said, Uzi’s not one for watercolor talk.

That’s a funny dude,” the NFL star said of the Philly rapper. “He cool though. He a funny guy, man. I met him. I’m in the training room right before the game and Uzi come in there, ‘What’s up, A.J.?’ I’m like, ‘What’s up, Uzi?’ He was like, ‘Nothing, I just woke up.’ I’m like, ‘What? Oh word, I heard you been in Paris.’ He was like, ‘I just came from out there, you going out there anytime soon? I’m like, ‘Probably after the season.’ I’m just trying to create convo. He really just cut the whole end of the conversation, he went like, ‘Well, good talking to you, A.J.’ and walked out. He walking through the walking room and he like this tall.”

A.J. Brown Calls Uzi A “Rockstar”

Furthermore, Brown defended the “Sauce It Up” artist’s energy above all. “He got the players turned up though, he cool though. He’s a rockstar, he get the city turnt.” Their hit track “Just Wanna Rock” is recognized as a new Philly anthem, especially for the Eagles. However, many recently debated over whether it overtook Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” as the new song of the city. Moreover, DJ Drama sparked that debate when he proclaimed his Generation Now artist to have bested Meek’s previous iconic track.

Still, Uzi didn’t agree with one surpassing the other, and if so, they said it’s not their track. “I don’t think so,” he responded to Revolt TV‘s inquiry. “That song like been around for a very long time, and that song is still hitting exactly the same way. I’m just gonna have to see, you know, in a couple of years or a decade or whatever. [Meek]’s a big Homie from Philly, and that’s like one of my big homies. So I just like feed off the energy that he gives actually to be able to even produce or put out that type of music. So like, hopefully, like s**t, hopefully. [Meek] would hope that for me too. Not yet though, it’s too early to tell.” Regardless of your take on that, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Lil Uzi Vert.

Skip Bayless Torments Eagles Fans: Watch

Skip Bayless is one of the most successful trolls in the world. Although fans seem to hate him most of the time, they always acknowledge just how entertaining he is. Overall, he is one of those people who knows exactly how to push your buttons. At times, his opinions seem authentic. However, it is very clear that he is doing things that will intentionally trigger you. It’s his tactic to secure ratings for Undisputed and for the most part, it is working out very well for him. Love him or hate him, he will continue to be around for a long time.

Last night was an interesting night for Bayless as it was the Super Bowl. This is one of the biggest sporting events of the year, especially in North America. For Bayless, it was a fun matchup as it included a quarterback he loves to hate, Patrick Mahomes. Moreover, it also included the Philadelphia Eagles who are a nemesis of his Dallas Cowboys. Needless to say, Bayless could be found rooting against both teams. After all, he is the world’s biggest hater.

Skip Bayless Unhinged

In the end, the Philadelphia Eagles lost after giving up 38 points. It was a horrible defensive effort that subsequently led to a rant from Bayless. Above, you can see one of Skip’s scary-looking close-up videos in which he goes off on the Eagles. Throughout this clip, Bayless claims that the Eagles defense is awful and that next year, the Cowboys will defeat them in both meetings. Overall, it was yet another antagonistic message from Bayless who understands just how hated he is. Furthermore, it was another reason to be on Twitter as the Super Bowl provided some great reactions and commentary.

For Eagles fans, this just rubs salt in the wound. Eagles fans are already aware of the fact that this was not a great game for them. However, they do have a great quarterback in Jalen Hurts. There is a very good chance they get back to the Super Bowl at some point, and they will have a very good chance at winning. Let us know what you thought of the Super Bowl, in the comments down below.
