Did Drake Diss The Weeknd On ‘For All The Dogs?’

Drake has finally shared his new album For All The Dogs. The album has plenty of features from artists like SZA, 21 Savage, Bad Bunny, Lil Yachty, Sexyy Red, and more, but there’s also some beef — not between J. Cole and NBA YoungBoy, it would seem, but there are rumors of a diss from Drake about another famous musician.

Fans are pointing out a lyric in the track “All The Parties” that goes, “My b*tches playin’ PND and them / The shorties only listen to Weeknd.” However, the lyric shown on Genius keeps changing, so it’s not confirmed that those are the real words. Also, listeners are debating over whether it’s even a diss or not; some are claiming that Drake and Abel Tesfaye are friends, and that there’s no need to read into the line and create unnecessary drama.

The most recent discussion about both Drake and The Weeknd was when an AI-generated collaboration between them called “Heart On My Sleeve” circulated in April. Universal Music Group issued a takedown notice once it went viral. In September, the Academy CEO, Harvey Mason, Jr stated that the song was “absolutely eligible” for a Grammy Award “because it was written by a human,” later offering clarification.

Drake Let His Son Adonis Rap On ‘Daylight’ From ‘For All The Dogs’ And Fans Can’t Get Enough Of It

Drake’s new album For All The Dogs is full of surprises. The first one fans noticed was when the album didn’t drop at midnight, but instead arrived at 6 a.m. ET today (October 6). In terms of the project itself, fans were delighted to see Drake’s 5-year-old son Adonis Graham get his own verse at the end of the song “Daylight.”

The boy raps, “Don’t talk to my man like that / I like it when you like it / My, my, my, my man / My, my, my, my man / Don’t talk to my man like that / I like it when you like it / My, my, my, my man / My, my, my, my man / You know which one you want / I don’t care which one you want / You can take whatever / I don’t care what you do / I will always, watchin’ for you.”

Listeners immediately loved Adonis’ appearance. The kid became a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) after the album’s release.

Popular streamer Kai Cenat was also pumped to hear Adonis as he listened to the album live:

Adonis, of course, has been heavily involved in the album, whether he’s illustrating the cover art or co-starring in the “8AM In Charlotte” video.

J. Cole Used Drake’s ‘For All The Dogs’ To Address His Alleged Beef With NBA YoungBoy

There have been rumors lately that J. Cole and YoungBoy Never Broke Again are beefing. Cole, though, made a guest appearance on Drake’s new album For All The Dogs, in which he seemingly puts the rumors to rest.

On “First Person Shooter,” Cole raps, “I still wanna get me a song with YB / Can’t trust everything that you saw on IG / Just know if I diss you, I made sure you know that I hit you like I’m on your caller ID.”

As for what’s going on here: In 2021, it was reported that NBA Youngboy had a studio session with Cole scheduled, but he apparently made Cole wait for 8 hours and never actually showed up. YoungBoy claimed at the time, “They lied and said I stood J. Cole up. They lied, they said I ain’t wanna go in the studio with him. That wasn’t even the case. I was going through something so what the f*ck I’ma go in this man’s studio session for a meet up with him, knowing that I ain’t in a mode to talk or just to be in the mode to f*ck around. What the f*ck I’ma go around this man if I know I ain’t in a mood to talk to nobody or sit there, or even be around somebody.”

Fast-forward to earlier this year, when YoungBoy rapped on “F*ck The Industry Pt. 2,” “J. a ho, that n**** played it cold like he was gon’ do a feature / So I texted his line a muscle sign, I swear it’s gon’ be nice to meet you.”

Last month, Cole featured on Lil Yachty’s “The Secret Recipe” and rapped, “N****s makin’ threats and I laugh, that’s ’cause you ain’t a threat / Don’t ask how I feel ’bout no rappers, sh*t, they OK, I guess / Incomin’ call, press the button, the one that say accept / He FaceTime to ask for a feature and saw the face of death / I’m on your song, your streams goin’ up, not quite the Drake effect / But don’t complain, b*tch, take what you get and cut the label check.”

While that was widely interpreted as being about YoungBoy, Cole’s manager Ibrahim Hamad wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “I’m pretty sure this is [cap]. Not sure how y’all heard that cole verse and put that together, impressive.”

Drake’s ‘For All The Dogs’: Here Are All The Features And Producers On The Album

The journey toward Drake’s For All The Dogs lasted a bit longer than expected. After announcing it over the summer during his It’s All A Blur Tour with 21 Savage, rumor had it that the project would initially arrive on August 25. However, that day came and went without its release and Lil Yachty blamed fans for believing a date that was not announced by Drake himself. Well, Drake later announced an official release date of September 22 for For All The Dogs, but he was later forced to delay it to October 6, in order to complete the project and not cancel any tour dates to do so.

At long last, as promised, Drake delivered For All The Dogs on October 6. It was made available to stream at 6am EST as opposed to the traditional time of 12am EST, but nonetheless, the album is here. It features 23 songs and appearances from Teezo Touchdown, 21 Savage, J. Cole, Yeat, Snoop Dogg, SZA (two times), JeRonelle, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Sexyy Redd, and Lil Yachty.

Drake Unveiled The Tracklist For ‘For All The Dogs’ But The Collabs Are Still Hidden

Drake‘s eighth studio album, For All The Dogs is almost here. He is dropping the anticipated album tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. EST with very little promotion — only a slight tease in his poetry book and a reveal of the album artwork drawn by his son, Adonis. Additionally, he shared a video yesterday morning for a song called “8AM In Charlotte,” in which, Adonis makes a cameo — and he’s previously shared “Slime You Out,” a collaboration with his once-lover, SZA.

Today (October 6), Drake took to Instagram to reveal the tracklist, just hours before the album is scheduled to drop. While Drake is known for his collabs, the tracklist does not reveal any featured artists. Perhaps he is pulling a Travis Scott, who didn’t reveal the collabs on his fourth album Utopia until after its official drop.

So far, we do know that SZA will appear on “Slime You Out,” but your guess is as good as ours, regarding the others.

Drake’s New ‘8 AM in Charlotte’ Video Features Son Adonis & Raises Questions About Rivalry Disses

Drizzy Drake

Drake has made a comeback with a new music video titled “8 AM in Charlotte,” leaving fans speculating whether he is aiming at one of his past rap rivals. The video not only showcases Drizzy’s undeniable talent but also presents a heartwarming surprise—the inclusion of his son Adonis. With cryptic lyrics and compelling visuals, fans […]

What Time Will Drake’s ‘For All The Dogs’ Come Out?

For months, Drake has been teasing his new album For All The Dogs. He’s made announcements on his tour, he shared the single “Slime You Out” with SZA after pushing the album back, and today, he released the timestamp freestyle, “8AM In Charlotte.” With all that, anticipation is at a fever pitch for the project. Only one question truly remains:

What Time Will Drake’s ‘For All The Dogs’ Come Out?

Usually, this wouldn’t be a question: Most artists and labels are pretty good about getting their projects to DSPs well before midnight on New Music Friday, allowing them to be promptly launched as the clocks switch over on the east coast.

However, Drake isn’t most artists. In addition to his proclivity for pushing his deadlines to the absolute last second — sometimes literally — he’s one of the few artists on the planet who can get away with dropping new albums and songs without any previous promotion and still be reasonably assured of a massive response from listeners.

Especially with an album like For All The Dogs, which Drake has already pushed back before, there’s always a chance he won’t make it as the clock strikes 12. On the other hand, he’s never actually missed a deadline, even if he gets close, so it’s probably safe to assume that midnight will be the magic hour — or, as he likes to call it, the Scary Hour.

Is Drake’s ‘Scary Hours 3’ Coming Soon?

Even with Drake’s newest album just hours away from release (theoretically), it looks like his fans can’t help but speculate about what else he’s got up his sleeve. While For All The Dogs is scheduled to drop this Friday, October 6 (less than twelve hours away as of this writing), there’s already a rumor going around that the third installment of his EP series Scary Hours is already on the way. As with many Drake rumors, it started with a cryptic post of his on social media — in this case, an Instagram Story reading, “Scary Hours for those who remain sleepless after all these years… shall we begin?”

Is Drake’s ‘Scary Hours 3’ Coming Soon?

Considering that Drake had to make a choice between finishing his tour and finishing For All The Dogs (choosing the album and pushing back its release date in the process), it seems unlikely that Drake has been simultaneously working on a second project. After all, such a release would probably only take attention from his new album — something that would be pretty counterproductive after the months he’s spent seeding excitement for it.

However, given the timing of the post, it was more likely a last-second promo for his new single “8AM In Charlotte.” Considering his propensity for the late-night recording sessions that often spawn his so-called “timestamp songs,” he was probably hyping fans up its release. Of course, given Twitter users’ fondness for deciphering clues (even ones that aren’t there) and taking practically everything literally, it seems that the figurative “scary hours” — i.e., Drake’s favored time for wrapping up projects with these freestyles — were mistaken for a reference to the Scary Hours EPs. He had certainly been teasing one back in June 2022.

Either way, it’s looking spooky out there for Drake haters as he preps the launch of his eighth studio album, just weeks before Halloween.

Did 21 Savage Get A Green Card?

For some years, 21 Savage has been locked in an immigration dispute that has made his career more difficult. During his recent tour with Drake, he missed two Canadian dates, including Drake’s hometown Toronto show and the stop in Vancouver. He was replaced on these stops by J. Cole and Travis Scott, respectively, but surely, there were fans who wish they could have seen the Atlanta rapper, especially in the wake of his joint album with Drake, Her Loss.

However, according to a line on Drake’s newest song, Savage’s immigration struggles could soon be coming to an end — or at least, getting easier.

Did 21 Savage Get A Green Card?

In Drake’s new song “8AM In Charlotte,” the superstar raps, “Savage got a green card straight out of the consulate / Where I go, you go, brother, we Yugoslavian.” Tortured pun aside, this would seem to confirm that 21’s immigration status has been confirmed and that he’s got permission to stay in the US. While TMZ has interpreted this to mean the case is closed, though, it’ll probably be best to wait until official confirmation comes straight from the horse’s mouth.

However, we should be finding out soon; Drake and 21’s tour is set to return to Toronto this weekend, according to TMZ, so if Savage does have license to exit the country (and return, which was always the real problem), then fans in Drake’s hometown should be treated to songs like “A Lot,” “X,” and “Bank Account,” as well as the full Drake set featuring their collaborations such as as “Jimmy Cooks,” “Knife Talk,” and “Rich Flex.”

For background: 21 Savage’s immigration troubles stem from a 2019 arrest which left him in ICE detention as the result of an expired visa. It turned out that Savage, who was born in London, was brought to the US as a child but his visa expired when he was just 13 years old. Although he was in the process of applying for a new one, his case was delayed by some criminal charges against him as well as the COVID-19 pandemic.

If he really does have Permanent Resident Card (the so-called “green card”), it would mean he could tour abroad with no fear of being barred reentry into the United States — a fate that befell fellow UK immigrants Slick Rick and MF DOOM — and mean he would be able to pursue new performance opportunities befitting his stature in hip-hop. This is one time we hope Drake’s right — we’ll even forgive that atrocious dad joke of a punchline.

Here’s A List Of Drake’s Beloved Timestamp Songs

There’s a grouping of songs in Drake’s discography known as “timestamp songs.” These tracks all have one thing in common: Their titles include a time and a location. Here’s a list of all the timestamp songs Drake has release so far and a little bit about each.

“9AM In Dallas”

The first of the timestamp songs, this one came out in 2010, shortly before the release of Thank Me Later. The Boi-1da-produced track was apparently recorded the day the rest of the album was being mastered, so despite him wanting it to be the album’s intro, that didn’t end up working out.

“5AM In Toronto”

Like its predecessor, “9AM In Dallas” was released during the lead-up to an album, this time Nothing Was The Same. Notably, this one has lyrics that are believed to be about beef with The Weeknd: “‘Cause I show love, never get the same outta n****s / Guess it’s funny how money can make change outta n****s.”

“6PM In New York”

This one appeared on If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and it’s pretty clearly sees Drake going after Tyga: “I heard a lil, lil homie talking reckless in Vibe / That’s quite a platform you chose, you should’ve kept it inside / Oh, you tried? It’s so childish calling my name on the world stage / You need to act your age and not your girl’s age.”

“4PM In Calabasas”

Continuing to use the timestamp songs as a diss platform on 2016’s “4PM In Calabasas.” Among the targets is Joe Budden: “I thought we looked out for one another / Saw us all as brothers in the struggle, too blessed to be humble / I guess it’s different in the city I come from / All the sudden, I got people showing how much they truly resent me / They whole demeanor just spells envy, they tryna tempt me.”

“7AM On Bridle Path”

On Certified Lover Boy cut “7AM On Bridle Path,” it’s pretty clear Drake’s going after Kanye West. There are too many examples to exhaustively list here, as lines that seemingly take aim at West are peppered throughout the verse.

“8AM In Charlotte”

And now we have the latest timestamp song, this morning’s “8AM In Charlotte.” It currently remains to be seen if the track will appear on the upcoming album For All The Dogs, but either way, there’s speculation that the track again sees Drake putting Kanye in his crosshairs.
