Kendrick Lamar Refused To Appear On Drake’s “First Person Shooter”

Kendrick Lamar hates Drake. It used to be a speculative statement, but after the release of his diss track “Euphoria,” it’s been validated as a fact. The rapper hates the way Drake talks and acts, and according to DJ Akademiks, he hates the way Drake tried to play nice and clique up. The internet personality dropped a bombshell revelation during his May 2 live stream when he revealed that Drake asked Lamar to appear on his 2023 hit “First Person Shooter.”

“First Person Shooter” is the song that kicked off the Drake vs. Lamar battle. The song features J. Cole and the 6 God swapping bars about being the best of their generation, and the former shouts out Lamar for being the third in the so-called “Big Three.” Evidently, this reference is a glimpse of what the original version of “First Person Shooter” was going to be.

According to DJ Akademiks, Drake asked J. Cole and Lamar to contribute verses, but Lamar wanted nothing to do with him or the song. He was so put off by the offer, in fact, that it led to him writing the “Like That” diss.

Kendrick Lamar References The Offer On “Euphoria”

“Drake hit up Kendrick,” Akademiks said. “Now, if you think about this entire timeline and beef with that in mind, makes sense… I’m hearing that ‘First Person Shooter’ was a song intended to be with the ‘Big Three.’ I’m hearing that verses were reworked because Kendrick Lamar did not respond to the feature request.” Drake is not the source of these claims, but Ak assured viewers that he’s gotten his info on good authority.

The “First Person Shooter” theory has actually been circulating online since the release of Lamar’s “Euphoria” diss on April 30. On the third verse of the song, the Compton rapper references a feature request that Drake made. “Surprised you wanted that feature request,” he spit. “You know that we got some sh*t to address.” It was widely assumed that “First Person Shooter” was the feature in question, but Akademiks has now confirmed it.

DJ Akademiks had a busy May 2. In addition to sharing the “First Person Shooter” story, the internet personality shot down a rumor that Drake was going to drop a diss on May 3. DJHed claimed that the Toronto rapper was going to clap back at Lamar mere days after “Euphoria” released, but Ak shut the hype train down. He hopped on the phone with Kai Cenat and told him there was no diss coming that soon. “Drake’s not dropping tonight,” he stated. “He’s dropping soon though, but not tonight.”

DJ Akademiks Calls “Cap” On Rumored Drake Release: “Nah, Man”

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have given fans some of the most exciting hip-hop moments of the decade in the last two months. These generational talents have dropped disses, trolled each other on social media, and driven the sales of the genre higher than they’ve been in years. One of the detriments of the Drake vs. Kendrick battle, though, is that the rollout for their respective diss songs has been a mess. Because of bad leads and AI decoys, it’s become increasingly unclear to know what’s real info and what’s not. This is where DJ Akademiks comes in.

DJHed went viral on May 2 when he announced that Drake would be dropping a response to Lamar’s “Euphoria.” The radio personality teased the release on X (formerly Twitter), then circled back and said the news was “confirmed.” Drake was apparently striking while the iron was hot, and dropping only a few days after “Euphoria.” Or so we thought. DJ Akademiks quote tweeted DJHed’s original post and simply wrote: “CAP.” He then appeared, via phone call, on Kai Cenat’s May 2 live stream. Cenat asked whether Drake was actually dropping a response track, and Ak said no.

DJ Akademiks Said “Nothing” Is Dropping May 3

“Nah man,” DJ Akademiks stated. “There ain’t nothing dropping tonight, man.” Cenat tried to determine the source of the rumor, but Ak dismissed it outright. He claimed that DJHed was simply trying to get in the mix with news, and passed along “bad” information. Akademiks has been wrong about several of his claims and/or predictions throughout the battle, to be fair. That being said, it’s rare to hear the internet personality be so brief. Akademiks didn’t tease Cenat with another rumor, or hint at when the diss song would be coming, he simply denied it was dropping tonight.

DJ Akademiks has come under fire for claiming Drake’s “Push Ups” is a better diss song that Lamar’s “Euphoria,” but he has tried to keep his bias out of the situation. Just as he did with Lamar, he’s started an X (formerly Twitter) habit of counting the days that Drake hasn’t responded. The Toronto rapper was adamant about applying pressure to K. Dot when it was his turn to drop, which lend credence to the idea Drake would drop May 3. As it stands, it looks like the theory was “cap” and nothing more. The counter continues.

Dame Dash Thinks Kendrick Lamar Is Winning The Beef: “He Snuffed Drake”

Dame Dash has seen rap beef up close. He was Jay-Z’s right hand man during the legendary Nas battle, and spearheaded Roc-A-Fella during its commercial peak. His opinions on hip-hop, and beef especially, holds weight. This is what makes his recent comments on the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle so much fun to parse through. The duo represent the most substantial rivalry since Jay-Z and Nas, and Dash made it clear that he prefers one rapper over the other. Like most industry vets, he leans team Dot.

Dash was asked about Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” diss during a barbershop visit, and the mogul had plenty of thoughts. He admitted that he was underwhelmed by the song on first listen, but the more he dug into it, the more he appreciated what Lamar was doing. “He smothered Drake,” Dash stated. “This is a battle of lyrics, and you can be eloquent about conveying a point.” The ex-Roc-A-Fella boss lamented the advent of AI, and the way that it ruined the songwriting process, but he remained complimentive of Kung Fu Kenny.

Dame Dash Praised Dot’s “Lyrical” Strategy On “Euphoria”

The talking point that really swayed Dash on “Euphoria” was fatherhood. He thought it was incredibly smart to target Drake’s parenting skills, or lack thereof, on wax. “As a man, I thought that that was the most logical, grown man, battle rap, sh*t that you could say,” he noted. “A father really enjoys hearing about how fly it is to be a dad, and that’s basically the message I’ve bee conveying. F*ck all that dumb sh*t. If you ain’t a dad it don’t matter.” Dash went as far as to liken “Euphoria” to Nas’ “Ether.” The irony, of course, is that “Ether” was aimed at Dash’s own business partner.

Dame Dash thought Lamar’s diss was tactically superior as well. He claimed that “Euphoria” made him question whether Drake’s previous statements were true. “It was a very strategic lyrical play,” he added, inferring that the Toronto rapper’s insecurities are now going to be under greater scrutiny. Dash didn’t say the battle was over, though, and he’s actually had praise for Drake in the past. He merely thinks K. Dot won the first round. Like the rest of the hip-hop world, he’s curious to see what the 6 God has in store for a response.

DJHed Claims Drake Is Dropping A “Hit” Kendrick Lamar Diss Tonight

The rap battle continues. Charlamagne tha God recently claimed that Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar is the current generation’s answer to Jay-Z vs. Nas. The comparison makes sense, given the stakes and the high-profile both artists have. The thing that really clinches the comparison, though, is the hype that’s been surrounding each new diss song. Jay and Nas had radio to build up, but Drizzy and Kenny have a new level of buzz thanks to social media. DJHed hopped on X (formerly Twitter) to claim that the former will be dropping a song on May 3.

DJHed has chronicled the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle ad nauseam on X. He drew praise and some criticism for pointing out that Drake took a while to upload “Push Ups” to streaming platforms. The radio personality really ramped up the hype cycle, however, when he claimed that the 6 God plans to kick off the second round of the battle tonight. “I HEAR the boy IS DROPPING A ‘HIT’ RECORD TONIGHT,” he wrote on X. “I HOPE IT’S AMAZING.” A few hours after this was posted, DJHed quote tweeted his own message with a confirmation. “Confirmed,” he wrote. “Best of luck to you.”

DJHed Trolled The Incoming Drake Song On X

DJHed has made it clear that he’s team K. Dot. In the aforementioned criticism of Drake, he likened the rapper’s music to microwave food. He dismissed the notion of cooking up a response quickly in favor of taking time to craft something quality. “If you enjoy microwave meals that’s on you,” he tweeted at Drake fans. “We prefer cooked food on this side.” The radio personality decided to double down on his analogy by posting a gif on a microwave.

To DJHed’s credit, speed does seem to be a vital part of the Drake playbook. The rapper dropped two diss songs in the span of two weeks, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” then taunted Lamar for taking too long. The rapper also reacted to Lamar’s “Euphoria” diss the same night it dropped. He took to Instagram to troll Lamar with a film clip, and then told concertgoers at a Nicki Minaj show that he had business to take of. “You know what I gotta do,” he announced as he walked offstage. All eyes are going to be on the Boy, let’s see if he delivers.

Drake Might’ve Referenced Kendrick Lamar’s Wife Cheating On Him Years Ago, Fans Think

The war between Drake and Kendrick Lamar is formally entering its second round following the release of the latter’s response track, “euphoria.” After the kick-off “Like That” and Drizzy’s responses, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” we already have a good idea of the main angles that each MC is taking against their opponent. As for the OVO camp, one of the most notable, new, and incendiary moments was when he claimed that K.Dot’s wife, Whitney Alford, cheated on him with his bodyguard, or multiple. While Kendrick claimed this was a fake attempt to stir up controversy on “euphoria,” fans went back into the Toronto rapper’s catalog and discovered another set of bars that could suggest this.

Bodyguards don’t look like Kevin Costner, you tweaking / Just pulled up to Whitney Houston, Texas for the evening,” Drake raps on the 2020 DJ Khaled collab, “POPSTAR.” Given that it’s set up in a similar way to his mention of Whitney on “Push Ups” (“I be with some bodyguards like Whitney“), fans wonder whether this also alluded to that fact. However, considering the “POPSTAR” line previous to this, it’s also possible that the real depth behind this bar is just how much Aubrey decided to do his due research on The Bodyguard. It’s the 1992 film with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, for which her hit Dolly Parton cover “I Will Always Love You” was released, partly produced by someone who The Boy mentions on the previous line on “POPSTAR”: “If we talking joints, it’s just me and David Foster.”

Did This Drake Bar On “POPSTAR” Already Allude To Kendrick Lamar’s Wife Cheating On Him?

As such, there’s not a whole lot here to connect this to Drake’s taunting of Kendrick Lamar on “Push Ups,” and for the record, it’s something that he’ll likely double down on with whatever he’s cooking up next. But let’s wear the tinfoil hats for a second: maybe he’s insinuating that the real dangers as to Kendrick and Whitney’s relationship aren’t “Kevin Costners” (or the white women that the Compton lyricist admitted to cheating on his partner with years before this beef), but rather the bodyguards in their own circle. The 6ix God could even have insinuated that he himself was with Whitney on “POPSTAR,” à la the “Hit ‘Em Up” intro. If you thought that was a reach, just wait until you hear this next conspiracy theory.

Here are the next bars on “POPSTAR” after this “Whitney Houston, Texas” mention: “They tell the same story so much, they start to believe it / The ones that start like, ‘Drizzy’s s**t was cool, but we even.’” Might Drake be referencing Kendrick Lamar’s refusal to believe the other alleged side of this cheating story? Is the last part of these bars alluding to the artistic competition between the two, with him calling it a lie for Mr. Morale to consider him an equal and not a superior? Maybe… maybe not… but isn’t that the fun part about breaking down bars, especially in a rap beef? If nothing else, let’s give the Canadian superstar some credit for the Bodyguard wordplay, and let’s see what else they’ve both got in store.

Drake Clowned Online For His Nail Polish Following Hug With Birdman

Drake is currently in a bitter feud with none other than Kendrick Lamar. Overall, both artist’s fanbases are charged up. For now, it seems like fans are split on who had the better diss track. However, in many online polls, “Euphoria” has been given the edge. Online commentators such as Joe Budden have also given Kendrick the edge, while Drake fans look to poke holes in what K. Dot was saying. It has been fun to watch, and it will be very interesting to see what happens next.

As for Drake, it feels as though he cannot escape the spotlight right now. Regardless of what he does, people are commenting on it in a not-so-positive light. For instance, a video recently went viral that depicts Drake hugging Birdman backstage at a show. Of course, Birdman and Drake have a lot of love for each other, and they go way back. However, fans could not help but notice the blue nail polish that Drizzy was wearing. This led to some homophobic remarks on social media, which is not surprising these days.

“Kendrick won. There is no reason why a straight male should have colored finger nails. Idc,” one person wrote. “This is where I draw the line Drake. Kendrick Lamar Has One Toronto Restaurant Experiencing A Massive Boom In Business Thanks To “Euphoria” Shoutout

Kendrick Lamar dropped off his Drake diss “Euphoria” on Tuesday. Overall, no one was expecting this track to drop. However, Lamar came through with the song and it turned out to be a massive success. It is currently at the top of Apple Music, and some fans believe he killed Drake with the song. That said, Drake is reportedly readying his response, and fans are looking forward to the escalation of all of this. For now, the attention remains on “Euphoria,” and it seems like the song is having lasting effects outside of the beef.

For instance, near the end of the song, while mocking Toronto slang, Lamar shouted out a restaurant called New Ho King. This establishment is in the Chinatown area of Toronto, and following the shoutout, it has been receiving tons of five-star reviews. Furthermore, more and more fans are pulling up to the restaurant to grab a bit to eat. Kendrick gave us his order in the song, so people are looking to get just that. While beef can be incredibly negative, there is no doubt that there is a positive angle to all of this.

In a news report, the owner of New Ho King expressed his gratitude towards Kendrick. The owner seems pretty out of the loop when it comes to rap beef. However, he is getting some nice business because of it. Only time will tell whether or not this boom will be temporary or not. Although this is a great opportunity for the restaurant to get some returning customers.

Angel Reese Refuses To Pick Sides In Drake Vs Kendrick Lamar Battle

Angel Reese is a competitor. She knows what it takes to win, and she doesn’t have a problem getting in people’s faces to prove it. Reese is famous for speaking her mind, on and off the court, but she decided to draw the line during a recent Q&A with the Chicago Sky. The basketball team was asked whether they preferred Drake or Kendrick Lamar in the ongoing rap battle, but Reese was one of the few who dodged the question. Instead of picking a side, the WNBA stalwart decided to play it safe.

The majority of the Chicago Sky team answered the prompt, and the majority of them picked Drake. It’s fitting that the guy who made the “Best I Ever Had” music video has the support of the WNBA. Reese, on the other hand, opted for a more diplomatic approach. She made it clear that she doesn’t want to cause any additional strife between the rappers.

Even more importantly, though, she didn’t want the headache of having to deal with various news outlets hyping up her answer. “I’m not getting in this controversy because I’ll be on Twitter, The Shade Room, all that,” Reese explained. “Nope!”

Angel Reese Wants To Avoid The Controversy

This isn’t the first time Reese has avoided the “Drake or Kendrick” question. The athlete was asked to pick during the red carpet for the WNBA Draft, but she told Complex she didn’t want any part of it. “I don’t want to get in the mix,” she said. “I’m out the mix!”

Angel Reese has publicly spoken about Drake in the past. During a 2023 appearance on The Breakfast Club, the athlete revealed that both Future and the Toronto rapper slid into her DMs after she won the NCAA Championship. “They just congratulated me,” she noted. “It’s all congratulations.” Nevertheless, Charlamagne tha God told Reese to stay away from both rappers given their reputations.”You said two that you need to stay far away from,” he advised.

It looks to be all love between Reese and Drake, however. The former appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue in 2023, and she quoted a lyric from Drake’s “Jimmy Cooks” while promoting it on Instagram. “Don’t tell me that you a model if you ain’t been in Vogue or whatever Drake said,” she wrote in the caption.

Wack 100 Reveals The Winner Of The Kendrick Lamar & Drake Beef

Wack 100 is known for commenting on all things hip-hop. Although there are some people who couldn’t care less about his opinion, there are others who are always intrigued by what he has to say. Overall, Wack is someone who operates out on the West Coast. Having said that, it should come as no surprise that he would be a fan of Kendrick Lamar. Moreover, he has a lot of expectations for Lamar as it pertains to being a representative for Los Angeles. This is especially true now that he is going against Canada, in Drake.

After Kendrick dropped off “Euphoria,” DJ Akademiks went live on Rumble, Twitch, and YouTube. During this stream, he called up Wack 100 who wanted to deliver his take on what went down. Interestingly enough, Wack was not all that impressed with the Kendrick record. He was hoping for something that was more “West Coast” in terms of its presentation. Additionally, he felt like a lot of the things Kendrick said had already been stated by the likes of Pusha T.

DJ Akademiks was very quick to agree with Wack 100. Of course, Ak has been on Drake’s side since the very beginning of the feud, so this should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. In fact, this beef is very much like politics in that aspect.

Drake Has Fans Referencing Kendrick Lamar’s “Two Bad B*tches” Line After Pulling Up To Nicki Minaj Show

Drake and Kendrick Lamar are embroiled in a bitter feud right now, and yesterday brought forth a pretty wild escalation of things. Overall, it was Kendrick who delivered the latest blow thanks to his track “Euphoria.” Although some felt like Lamar may never respond, he did not disappoint. His new song is six minutes long, and there are some pretty scathing bars here that fans are still reeling over. One bar in particular involves Sexyy Red, and how Kendrick believes Drake sees himself as a “bad bitch,” just like Sexyy.

On Tuesday night, Drake was in Toronto where he got on stage with Nicki Minaj at her latest show. As we previously reported, Drizzy has been adamant about what’s next for him. He is preparing his response, and he believes it is going to be a hit. However, there is no telling if this will be the case. In fact, Drake’s appearance alongside Nicki Minaj led to some slick comments on social media. As you will see in the Instagram post below from DJ Akademiks, some fans found themselves leaning into the aforementioned Kendrick Lamar lyric.

Kendrick Lamar Vs. Drake Escalates

“Bro just proved Kendrick’s point,” one person wrote. “2 BADDIES ON STAGE. QUEEN NICKI MINAJ AND BBL DRAKE,” said another. Others were simply quick to declare Lamar the official winner of all of this. “Kendrick cooked Drake as a man, as a father, as a artist, as an actor and as a Canadian,” a commenter exclaimed. “Let’s not distract from the fact that Kendrick bodied drake,” wrote another. Needless to say, fans are putting Drake on the clock. While it may just be recency bias, it looks like fans have Kendrick up in the beef.

Let us know what you think of the diss track from Kendrick Lamar, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that this song is actually the best in the entire beef? Do you believe that Drake will be issuing a timely response to all of this? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.
