Moreover, the 6ix God randomly took to his Instagram Story on Sunday night (August 18) to troll the St. Louis native over his “One Call Away” lyrics from 2003. “The next day I’m with the fellas at the case playing ball / Here she come with her friends, they posted up on the wall / Now I’m showing off, trying to dunk, trying to dribble / Break fast threw the middle just to see her smile and giggle,” he rapped on the cut.

“Nah chingy I felt this,” Drake wrote to Chingy on his IG Story, paving the way for a back-handed compliment. “Like why do I play ball better when the tings aren’t watching? You really struck a chord with this one goated lyric. Also the fact you said tryna dribble like off that bar we know you were a** at ball. Happy Canada Day to everyone celebrating, and Drake is certainly taking it upon himself to lead this joyful holiday with some social media posts. Moreover, he took to his Instagram Story and main feed to post some footage of him and his friends chilling out under a bright sun at his Embassy property in Toronto. It seems like the “Wick Man” MC was having a great time, something that was probably bolstered by some new developments in his beef with many other rappers in 2024. A group of fans in Vancouver, Canada recently attacked one of his current rivals, former quintessential collaborator Rick Ross, and his crew for allegedly trying to play Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” at a festival.

We don’t really know how Drake actually feels about that situation… but folks have their theories, of course. Even 50 Cent swooped in to troll Rick Ross over this, and OVO die-hards have had a field day rejoicing in this revenge. Of course, we’re not advocating for violence in any capacity, and fans would do well to remember that. Moreover, they linked up back in 2016 for the “Wanna Know” remix and the latter contributed to the former’s 2017 More Life cut “Teenage Fever.” Yikes, that aged well, didn’t it? Jokes aside, what some people online are taking issue with actually isn’t that aspect of Kendrick Lamar’s disses against the 6ix God, but rather another element that’s been in the conversation for a long time. With this new tease, the OVO mogul once again faced accusations of being a culture vulture for seeking out a U.K. rapper.

Of course, this is a pretty ridiculous example of possible confirmation bias: would we really be so up in arms about a U.S. MC teaming up across the pond if it wasn’t Drake? Drake’s latest Instagram post shading Kendrick Lamar has his fans praising his fit and his wit, whereas his detractors are mocking him for taking the L. Moreover, both sides have plenty of reason to engage in the way they see fit: OVO die-hards have all the power in the world to brush off the opposition, and calling K.Dot a “one-trick pony” is frankly ridiculous. But some cinephiles within The Boy’s fanbase took note of how this IG caption could be a double entendre. Specifically, they pointed to the plot of the Paul Simon movie One-Trick Pony, a 1980 film with some interesting possible parallels to the Compton lyricist.

“Jonah is an aging rock star trying to put together a new album in the face of an indifferent record label and a talentless producer,” the Google search result for One-Trick Pony‘s plot synopsis reads. “At the same time, he’s struggling to save his failing marriage.” Of course, this lines up with the new album rumors, Metro Boomin beef, Top Dawg situation, and Whitney Alford claims that Drake engaged with during his Kendrick Lamar battle. But in a lot of ways, as much as his fans will use this against Kendrick, he did do him a favor by being at the center of what might be his biggest streaming year ever.

Of course, a lot of people reacted to this news by bringing up some of those aforementioned allegations, while others just want to see the whole thing blow over already.

But what about this beef was exactly “good times,” and what does he mean by “summer vibes”?

According to some Drake fans who commented under the post below, they’re expecting some more bangers from him in the summertime to get back on schedule, prove his hit-making ability, and knock that “Not Like Us” diss track off the charts. They believe he won the battle by dropping “The Heart Part 6,” which Kendrick Lamar hasn’t responded to at press time.
