Lil Wayne Divulges On Drake Being With His Girl While In Jail In Pre-Kendrick Lamar Diss Interview

Lil Wayne caught a wild, albeit already divulged stray in “Not Like Us,” Kendrick Lamar’s latest diss track against Drake. In it, he claims that Drizzy slept with Wayne’s girl while he was in prison, and that he got a tattoo of his face to apologize. Well, it turns out that this is not a new revelation, but it doesn’t erase the moral questioning that fans are doing right now when it comes to Young Money’s father and son. What’s more is that, in an old 2016 HipHollywood interview, Tunechi spoke on this matter and reportedly suggested that, while this didn’t happen exactly as Kendrick is presenting it, it still hurt.

“Oh! I wasn’t worried about that, that’s just how life goes when you locked up,” Lil Wayne remarked. “Now I remember, though. Yeah he wapped… I know who he wapped though. When you in jail though, even your side side side side is your main.” As for Kendrick Lamar’s specific diss, Wayne’s “Gone Til November” memoir reportedly indicates that Drake’s sexual encounter happened the day before his mentor met this girl, and not while he was in jail. “Yeah, it’s true. Don’t f**k with her like that ’cause I did f**k her,” The Boy reportedly told the New Orleans MC during a jail visitation, according to the book’s alleged content.

Lil Wayne Speaks On Drake In Interview Resurfacing Due To Kendrick Lamar Beef

“This is the type of s**t that a man never wants to find out when he’s locked up,” Lil Wayne reportedly wrote in his book, with TMZ adding a claim that he didn’t leave his cell for days. “Or, maybe so, cause only God knows what I would have done if I wasn’t locked up right now. Finding out that she f***ed Drake was the absolute worst thing I could’ve ever found out… As a man, honestly, that s**t hurt… and not because it was Drake, it could have been any man. It would’ve hurt the same.”

Meanwhile, there are other claims on these diss tracks that both Kendrick Lamar and Drake have to answer for with proof. As for this Lil Wayne situation, it clearly goes deeper than just a claim. With these feelings in mind, there is still a lot of judgement on Aubrey’s moral character, although it doesn’t seem like this was really his fault. We’ll see if there’s anything more to the tale.

Metro Boomin Drops Drake “Diss Track” & Doubles Down On “Like That” Cease & Desist Claims

Everyone’s focusing on Kendrick Lamar and Drake right now, and while that’s the big battle that’s been building up for a decade at this point, it’s not what really seems to have kicked off this Drizzy hate campaign. Even he believes this, with him having some spare shots on “Family Matters” for who he thinks has been responsible for all this: Metro Boomin. According to the Toronto superstar, he roped Future into beefing with him and made two whole diss albums that The Boy only skimmed through. This is a pretty clear reality to see, with the St. Louis producer doubling down on his distaste for him right now.

Furthermore, Metro Boomin took to Twitter in the wee hours of Sunday morning (May 5) to combat Drake in a number of ways. First off, there were a lot of memes thrown around here, like one of Metro responding to a drumline asking why wasn’t he chosen (referencing the “Push Ups” bar about “making some drums“) plus old clips of the 6ix God in homophobic skits, which is a sad irony considering the next move that he takes. The beatsmith also included clips of old Drake and accusations of “colonizer” behavior stemming from them, calling to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” record. These including calling Toronto slang “ignorant,” saying the hard “R,” being in blackface for the years-later “The Story Of Adidon” pictures, and Metro retweeted a co-sign of K.Dot’s “we don’t wanna hear you say n***a no more” bar.

Metro Boomin’s Last Tweet About Drake (At Press Time)

However, it all gets pretty lame once Metro Boomin starts acting like those homophobic skits from earlier and makes fun of Drake’s painted nails, his alleged liposuction, and some pictures of his intimacy with other men. The other parts of his rant include doubling down on the rumor that Aubrey’s team refused to grant radio rights for “Like That,” that he’s lying about his assessment of Metro’s relationships and his claims of people getting involved with his girl, and poking fun with the “two bad b***hes” bar on “euphoria.” That last one is odd considering Sexyy Red’s St. Louis origin, but regardless, Metro probably took all shots against the OVO leader, not her. Also, back to that “make some drums” bar, Metro actually did. He dropped a pretty good beat whose sample sounds like “BBL Drizzy” and declared that the best verse on it would get it for free.

Meanwhile, Metro Boomin also played a clip of Drake praising The Weeknd a couple of years ago, and called out his bar about people only knowing his music in gay clubs as a result. Perhaps most importantly of all, Metro warns Drizzy that the real reason why they don’t like each other (or rather, why the former doesn’t like the latter) is something that Drake wants to avoid addressing because he knows it would be a bad look. If you’re wondering what went down between these two to spur these claims, there are mostly only theories so far. But it’s clear that at some point, someone drew a line in the sand, and now we’re here.

Drake’s Alleged Sources Claim Hidden Daughter Accusations Are Fake News

So was no one going to tell us that, in 2024, you need a Master’s degree in journalism if you want to participate in rap beef? Well, either way, Kendrick Lamar and Drake certainly proved what Pusha T established and tried to reinforce their scathing bars for one another on last night’s diss tracks (Friday, May 3) with some serious allegations. Speaking of “The Story Of Adidion,” one of the biggest ones is the claim that Drake is hiding and neglecting a daughter around the age of 11, and might have more kids and baby mothers that he’s kept quiet and ignored. Whereas Kendrick has his own privacy around his family, this diss seemed much more aimed at the “deadbeat” angle.

However, Drake denied this shortly after “Meet The Grahams” dropped, fan theories are going wild over whether he fed Kendrick Lamar fake information, and now we apparently have another denial. Moreover, TMZ recently published a report claiming that they spoke to a source allegedly close to the OVO camp who called K.Dot’s claims an “utter fabrication.” No one knows what or who to believe, especially as the relentless attacks from yesterday have quieted down in the morning’s aftermath. Until either MC makes another strong move to bring evidence forward, they are both as scarred as the other.

Some Of Kendrick Lamar’s Bars For Drake’s Alleged Daughter

Furthermore, this is because Drake launched his own claims against Kendrick Lamar that are either unverified or previously challenged. He accused the Compton lyricist of physically abusing his partner, and of cheating on her consistently even after the time period that he admitted to on his 2022 album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. In addition, the Toronto rapper claimed that Dave Free is the real father of one of their kids. As for the domestic violence allegations, he could be referring to an alleged 2014 incident of beating a woman that the former TDE lyricist addressed and denied during an interview with The Breakfast Club.

Meanwhile, Drake and his alleged sources have denied this particular claim… while staying completely silent on much more damning accusations. Kendrick Lamar also alleged that the OVO camp runs a sex trafficking ring and that the “Family Matters” creative is an assaulter and predator. These are similar to rumors about Drizzy’s proximity with underage girls, which he’s almost never addressed publicly other than brief song mentions. Only time will tell who is lying and who is right… but considering the cost, and regardless of veracity, neither is in any position to sit on a high horse.

Drake Launches Domestic Violence Claims Against Kendrick Lamar, Alleges Dave Free Is His Child’s Father

The clash of the titans left a bloody trail in its wake, and neither artist is claiming any sort of victory with a clean conscience, no matter what is or isn’t true. Moreover, you’ve probably already heard the scathing diss tracks that Drake and Kendrick Lamar had for each other yesterday (Friday, May 3). They both contain plenty of wild claims, serious allegations, and brutal character takedowns, although one in particular might take the cake for its shock value and severity… or two, but we’ll get to that later. The 6ix God claimed that his Compton rival abused his partner (fiancée or wife) and tried to cover it up, that he’s still been consistently cheating on her, and that Dave Free (his manager) is the actual father of one of their kids.

Of course, these were all damning accusations that, sadly for OVO fans, lasted for about twenty minutes before being met with equally destructive returning fire. In Kendrick Lamar’s “Meet The Grahams” diss track, he claimed that Drake and OVO actually run a sex trafficking ring, and that Drizzy himself is a predator, a groomer, and an assaulter. The Boy has faced similar accusations of inappropriate relationships with underage girls, but this is a systemic allegation that seems ominously relevant given the current wave of Diddy allegations on similar suppositions. Needless to say, we’re not in the fun part of rap beef anymore.

Drake Accuses Kendrick Lamar Of Domestic Violence

In addition, Kendrick Lamar also claimed that Drake has a secret daughter and might even have more children that he’s not supporting or speaking on. There’s a thin line between privacy and neglect, one that K.Dot is walking carefully here given his own reluctance to parade his family for the media. But this is a claim that Aubrey immediately dismissed, and some fans have even theorized that he fed this as fake information to catch Kendrick in a lie. The narratives around that, such as a picture of the supposed 11-year-old girl in the background of Drake’s recent music video, are only speculation at this point.

There’s a lot of confusion, a lot of drama, and a whole lot of explaining to do that many fans are demanding on both sides. Receipts will be a key factor here, but it’s clear that neither Drake nor Kendrick Lamar will walk away from this unscathed. Any victors called come with an asterisk attached, and never meeting your heroes has never sounded like a sweeter relief. Forget the sides: we need to address women’s alleged pain across the board.

Kendrick Lamar Accuses Drake & OVO Of Trafficking Women On New Diss Track

Kendrick Lamar and Drake are looking like two knocked-out boxers in the ring after a simultaneous final blow after their diss tracks (“Meet The Grahams” plus “6:16 In LA” and “Family Matters,” respectively) dropped yesterday (Friday, May 3). Moreover, both tracks contained a litany of allegations against the other, kicking off with The Boy’s claims about K.Dot. In it, he claims that the former TDE MC is still cheating on his fiancée (or wife?) Whitney Alford, who apparently hasn’t married him yet despite becoming engaged years ago, and that one of Kendrick’s kids with her is not actually his, but rather Dave Free’s. He’s the Compton lyricist’s manager, which obviously paints a pretty nasty picture… that only got nastier.

Furthermore, this all took a backseat for a brief moment when Kendrick Lamar dropped “Meet The Grahams” and his own set of allegations. Many are talking about the claim that Drake is hiding an 11-year-old daughter, which he’s already denied on social media. However, a more damning accusation is that Drizzy is part of a sex trafficking ring through OVO. Kendrick is likely alluding to Baka, a rapper and former security guard of the camp who was arrested for human trafficking and whose charges were later dropped.

Kendrick Lamar Levies Sex Trafficking Allegations Against Drake On “Meet The Grahams”

But make no mistake: this was mutually assured destruction, as Drake accused Kendrick Lamar of committing domestic violence against his partner on “Family Matters.” The former has had a lot of experience with sidestepping (in other words, ignoring) claims against him, whereas the latter is a much more private person with therefore much more to lose. No one knows for sure who’s telling the truth and who’s bluffing right now, but one thing is clear. Even if some or all of this comprises of fabrications, they seem in no fit position to comment on the other’s complicity in horrid sex crimes.

After all, one of these artists featured Kodak Black on their album, and the other praised Chris Brown in a diss track accusing his opponent of domestic violence. Many declared a winner already, but it feels like everyone is losing right now. That might not be how the culture remembers the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef. But it’s a big sting to contend with right now, and one that audiences hopefully seek accountability for until receipts emerge.

Drake Denies Kendrick Lamar’s Claims That He Has A Secret Daughter

What a fine Saturday morning (April 5): the birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and the world is reacting to traded blows that have left both of its dealers reeling from the aftershock. Moreover, you’ve probably already heard the multiple disses that Drake and Kendrick Lamar threw each others’ way on Friday: various sections of “Family Matters,” and “6:16 In LA” and “Meet The Grahams,” respectively. On the last of these tracks, K.Dot claims that the 6ix God is hiding an 11-year-old daughter and possibly even more children. Unsurprisingly, he was very quick to respond to that allegation, and it’s clear he’s paying it no mind at the moment.

“Hold on can someone find my hidden daughter pls and send her to me… these guys are in shambles,” Drake wrote on his IG Story amid various crying-laughing emojis. As such, he’s calling Kendrick Lamar’s bluff, and some fan theorists online have even suggested that he gave up this supposedly fake information to a suspected “mole” in his camp in order to bait his opponent into a false claim. But other fans are more concerned with Drizzy failing to address the sex trafficking, predator, and assault accusations that were also central to “meet the grahams.” However, this contrasts ominously with accusations of domestic violence that the Toronto MC levied at the Compton rapper.

Drake Denies Having An 11-Year-Old Daughter

As such, both artists have much to answer for, and while some have already picked their side, most of us are in silent disbelief at what’s happening. Never mind the rap beef for a second: this exchange is a horrible reminder to never meet your heroes, and regardless of what ends up being true, it’s put into question a lot of perceived hypocrisy, loyalties, tactics, and approaches. Kendrick Lamar and Drake might be able to sidestep all of this… but at what cost? How much of history should we be ready to face before realizing there are much bigger opponents to take down either way?

Maybe that’s just flowery self-righteousness. After all, Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been teasing the nuclear option for years, and we’ve cheered them on. Perhaps the most salient point out of these denials and reversals is that the world really needs to see some receipts right now. Rick Ross tying his crash landing into this is one thing, but this is a whole ‘nother level. Only time will tell how these diss tracks (as excellent and scathing as they are) will go down in the books.

Kendrick Lamar “6:16 In LA”: Breaking Down His Lyrical Slaughter Of Drake’s Character

Kendrick Lamar became one of the few rappers in history whose diss track’s title and production credits are just as integral to his message as the lyrics themselves. Moreover, you’ve likely seen dozens of interpretations of what “6:16 In LA” means and what Jack Antonoff’s (Taylor Swift’s producer’s) inclusion behind the board signifies regarding Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle.” But at the end of the day, what matters most is what K.Dot had to say about the 6ix God in this surprise verse, dropped just days after he unleashed his response track “euphoria.” Whereas that song covered multiple angles and talking points, this effort is a much more specific, strategic, and surgical attempt at a takedown.

Furthermore, Kendrick Lamar hones in on Drake’s character: the futile nature of his tactics, the disloyal evolution of his OVO camp, and the crucial difference that sets them apart as titanic artists championing the Black culture and community of hip-hop. Fully embracing the tactics behind “Taylor Made Freestyle” has allowed the former TDE MC to place his rival in a unique position where he must push the nuclear button, sharpen his pen to its highest proven level… or lose. No one doubts that the Toronto superstar is capable of this. But with “6:16 In LA,” Mr. Morale suggests that even if he secures a victory, it will not help him sleep better at night between so many vultures.

Kendrick Lamar Sets Himself Apart

A post shared by Kendrick Lamar (@kendricklamar)

Before “picking the carcass apart,” Kendrick Lamar first argues what makes him a more compelling artist. References to yachts and Phantoms not only indicate similar economic levels despite Drake’s flaunting, but also paint his lifestyle as unperturbed, more pure, and more important to him than acclaim. This first part’s narrative is a double-down on the “I got a son to raise” bar on “euphoria,” prioritizing personal peace and privacy over the grandeur of public lauding. The Compton lyricist’s art is merely the expression of his self that he lets loose when necessary. “Remember when picked up a pen, lyrics that I can trust / Timid soul, stare in the mirror, asking where I was from / Often, I know this type of power is gon’ cost / But I live in circadian rhythms of a shooting star.”

With that last line, Kendrick Lamar references the rhythm of a human body, determining when it’s awake or dormant. As a notorious absentee in recent years, he could be proposing that, whenever he is awake, he is as special as a shooting star. Also, it calls to the moral “love and hate” conflict that this Drake beef creates within Kung Fu Kenny. “God, my confession is yours / But who am I if I don’t go to war? / There’s opportunity when living with loss / I discover myself when I fall short,” he raps, slyly dismissing “size 7” disses that Drizzy had for him. It’s all meant to represent a win that rap beef can’t fill the void of, tying in later to the exploration of this alleged void in Aubrey Graham’s circle.

The “Wires” In OVO

Through specific name-drops, Kendrick Lamar scrutinizes Drake’s relationships and their seemingly at-risk loyalties. DJ Akademiks is “compromised” with his fav’s lies, Kendrick defends his manager Ant, he says Cash XO isn’t the real rat, Kash Doll’s jewelry burglary reference calls back to her ex breaking up with her due to being too friendly with Drizzy, and even L.A. nightlife staple Zack Bia catches a stray as someone that Drake allegedly tries to use to get information on Kendrick. The “N95” creative sums it all up with this line: “Have you ever thought that OVO is workin’ for me?” Whereas The Boy has plenty of dirt out and is trying to find some on K.Dot, Kendrick thinks he’s bluffing. Let the records show that Pusha T claims he got the info on Adonis from OVO, and that Drake tried to pay for dirt on him, so this isn’t a new take.

Regardless of whether there’s something out there that could hurt Kendrick Lamar, he’s confidently in his tight circle and his movement. But he thinks that Drake’s in dangerous waters. In fact, Kendrick claims that the core parts of his opponent’s inner circle are questionable, not just his peripherals. “A hundred n***as that you got on salary / And twenty of them want you as a casualty / And one of them is actually next to you,” Mr. Morale spits, which could link back to Aubrey’s bodyguard Chubbs, who also caught mention on “euphoria.” However, he frames none of this as unfortunate backstabbing to merely get a slice of Drizzy’s magnanimous pie, but rather as the idea that he’s a “terrible person” who brought this on himself.

Drake’s Methods

Specifically, Kendrick Lamar alleges that Drake contributed to this lack of loyalty by pursuing money, power, and respect the wrong way, for the wrong reasons, and with the wrong people. Many on social media have probably seen the “Twitter bots” that Kendrick is referring to, although the discourse has become so deafening that neither fanbase will ever beat the meat-riding allegations. Nevertheless, this is a game that K.Dot thinks the 6ix God is an active participant in, playing the “propaganda” game until it “blows up on him.” By referencing Drake’s recent social media obsessions in order to further the beef, plus his use of antics like the Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur A.I. voices, Kendrick thinks that he’s exposing his own misguided ways on repeat without actually addressing any issues significantly.

Your lil’ memes is losing steam, they figured you out / The forced opinions is not convincing, y’all need a new route,” Kendrick Lamar spits on “6:16 In LA.” In addition, there are a few moments of pulled punches here, just like on “euphoria,” that keep the focus on hip-hop and call Drake out for trying too hard to move the goalpost. “It was fun until you started to put money in the streets / Then lost money ’cause they came back with no receipts / I’m sorry that I live a boring life, I love peace.” Perhaps most importantly, Kendrick suggests that Drizzy is still an actor in the rap game, continuing this narrative that all of Drake’s shots are just obfuscating the lack of actual ammunition he has in store. To put it simply: Kendrick thinks Drake needs to self-reflect, think about his priorities, and reevaluate his behavior.

What Will Drizzy Do Next?

So after that recollection, Drake has a few different avenues to play this through. The first is to call Kendrick Lamar’s nuclear bluff with a bomb of his own. Telling your opponent to grow up is a pretty boring diss at face value; surely a takedown of K.Dot’s character and his own mistakes will excite the hip-hop community more, right? At the moment, Kendrick wants everyone to think that The Boy has nothing to offer, but a whole lot could change overnight. But that also carries a risk. The pgLang artist’s moral vulnerability is far more of a shield against missteps than his mysterious movement, something we saw in action when OVO fans tried to call him out for self-admitted cheating years before his child was born. If there’s a bomb, it has to be a big one, because Drake has much to explain.

Conversely, Drake could show his pen’s prowess, challenging the multi-layered song titles, endlessly interpretable lines, and impeccable flow switches Kendrick Lamar has prioritized so far. That would be the best outcome here: let a winner take the crown for their skills (assuming there are no ghostwriters) and for their ability to engage, energize, and electrify. Alas, the OVO fanbase wants blood, not bars, and K.Dot has much more to lose from public embarrassment than the man who was “Ethered” on a diss track with him in blackface as the cover art. But “6:16 In LA” makes this much more than just rap beef. It’s about how artists carry themselves in the public eye, their industry relationships, and their personal allegiances. For that, we fear, Drake has no answer, regardless of whether he lifts a trophy by the end of this.

Kendrick Lamar’s “6:16 In LA”: Fans Theorize OJ Simpson & Father’s Day Ties In Drake Diss’ Title

Break out your tinfoil hats: we have another set of Kendrick Lamar bars to unpack, and the most layered bits of this new Drake diss, “6:16 In LA,” might not even be in the verse. Moreover, a lot of fans are theorizing on the meaning -– or rather, multiple fan-theorized meanings -– behind this song’s title and cover art, which is of a single black glove with the Maybach logo on it. So let’s see what folks are saying and start with an obvious observation: the diss’ title is meant to evoke The Boy’s timestamp series. The most recent of these was “8AM In Charlotte” off 2023’s For All The Dogs.

Furthermore, fans have pointed out that “6:16” (June 16) is Tupac’s birthday (and we all know how Drake feels about him), the date on which the OJ Simpson charges were presented decades ago, and Father’s Day this year. Kendrick Lamar dropped the song at 6:16AM Pacific Standard Time, and some have also pointed to not a timestamp reference, but a biblical one. There are actually multiple Bible verses that folks are bringing up in this discussion, including from Corinthians, Jeremiah, and Revelation. We won’t detail them here for the sake of not spoiling the fun of your interpretation.

Kendrick Lamar Fans Connect The Dots

Elsewhere, fans are also pointing to Kendrick Lamar’s cover art for “6:16 In LA.” First, there’s the Maybach connection, which could be notable because of Maybach Music Group boss Rick Rosscurrent beef with Drake. Also, the sole glove ties back into the OJ trial (as as authorities reportedly officially declared Nicole Brown Simpson dead at 6:16AM in Los Angeles), and could also highlight Drake’s love for Michael Jackson, who wore one white sequined glove. A farther reach is that this glove actually belongs to Drizzy, and that he’s the only person who’s meant to know what this really means, as it might be someone who took a picture of it and sent it to K.Dot.

Another Theory

Of course, this is all purely speculative and goes to show that Kendrick Lamar’s fans look pretty unhinged with the conspiracies. But when there are so many layers to peel back and so many connections to make, it’s hard to resist the fun. Perhaps Drake comes through with that same energy, as he surely doesn’t appreciate comparisons to a deceased white woman. But such is the art of love and war… or love and hate, in Kendrick’s case.

Kendrick Lamar Claims Drake Is Being Backstabbed By OVO On “6:16 In LA”

Kendrick Lamar did, in fact, go “Back To Back” as promised and dropped another Drake diss, “6:16 In LA,” on Friday morning (May 3) three days after dropping “euphoria.” Moreover, this diss is a much more focused and specific takedown of the 6ix God rather than the multi-faceted and expansive set of points made on the first diss track. This time around, K.Dot is focusing on how much of his opponent’s OVO camp is supposedly against him, willing to give up info and only staying loyal because of money. Furthermore, he achieves this through lines like, “Have you ever thought that OVO was working for me?,” “Know the wires in your circle should puzzle you,” “If you were street smart, then you would’ve caught that your entourage is only to hustle you.”

Of course, as Kendrick Lamar fans tend to do, they will probably peel back a lot of other possible meanings and references in many of these bars in the next few days, so expect even more stuff to come out from both “6:16 In LA” and “euphoria.” But the points made here are very clear. On the other hand, Drake fans are already calling into question the Compton MC’s lyricism, specifically pointing to battle rap lines that he allegedly stole. But commonly repeated lines and metaphor openings that are peppered across The Boy’s catalog as well won’t be enough to change the narrative, or at least, that’s what Kendrick argues on this new song.

Kendrick Lamar’s “6:16 In LA”: Listen

Elsewhere, people are already going wild with their reactions to “6:16 In LA.” Many of the bars here could relate to many references on previous disses, such as the Gunna bar on “euphoria” and Kendrick Lamar’s allusions to Drake’s bodyguard Chubbs. Still, it’s clear to see that people are really running with the idea that the Toronto collective is not as tight-knit as they would have you believe, which is probably exactly what Kendrick wanted to paint with his bars. Whether it’s true or not, they are some heavy claims to tackle.

Meanwhile, everyone’s now patiently waiting to see what Drake could offer in response to Kendrick Lamar. They’ve teased some really damaging ammunition for another round, and it seems like the former TDE lyricist is calling Aubrey’s bluff here. It’s not impossible for him to bounce back with a strong retort, and that might just lock them in a war for life. Regardless, it’s all been a pretty interesting spat to witness, and one that will go down in the history books no matter what.

Drake Fans Accuse Kendrick Lamar Of Stealing Battle Rappers’ Lines

Debate is raging heavily online over the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef, especially now that the latter went back to back and dropped another diss on Friday morning (May 3). Both fanbases are going wild for their fav, with some going on a slippery slope by trying to discredit some of the bars on the first K.Dot diss, “euphoria.” For example, folks pulled up some videos of various rap battles in which competitors use the “I hate” repetition from the song’s refrain, the “park your son” bar, and the YNW Melly bar. While this is not necessarily an invalid critique, someone should make a compilation of all the “Interscope (in the scope) Aftermath” MJ, and Whitney Houston Bodyguard bars that rappers have spit over the years, all of which land on “Push Ups.”

Furthermore, we don’t say that to hate on Drake, but to point out that this is a flawed argument no matter which way you frame it. His previous ghostwriting claims don’t matter either, as Kendrick Lamar also faced some since-debunked ghostwriting rumors amid this beef. If you hold hip-hop up to unrealistic originality standards in the art of wordplay, you would deprive many listeners of their first time hearing classic bars on more popular records. The ghostwriting issue occurs most frequently when you’re not backing up your homages with striking idiosyncrasy on your other bars, or when you pay them too often in succession.

Drake Fans Think Kendrick Lamar Is Biting Battle Rap: See Replies For Reactions

Of course, we’re sure that Drake will probably have at least one or two bars on whatever he cooks up next that are tributes or references to other bars, or are just more common metaphors or similes than one would think. None of them will discredit him from the beef, and Kendrick Lamar jabbing him for the same reason would fall equally as flat. All that being said, there is still valid critique to be made about “euphoria” and its lyrical content. So if you’re an OVO soldier, don’t give up: you might still get naysayers on your side.

Meanwhile, as the rest of the hip-hop world continues to debate “euphoria,” the brand new diss, and how this beef has progressed so far, we can only guess as to whether there’s another round. Will there be a big revelation like both MCs have teased and warned the other about? Or is this purely a lyrical battle? We’ll see what we see when the smoke clears.
