DJ Akademiks jokingly apologized to JAY-Z and Roc Nation over his past remarks.

While highlighting how HOV and his team responded to a lawsuit led by attorney Tony Buzbee, which they dub as extortion, Ak highlighted the team as too powerful.

“I don’t want no parts of going at Jay, [his attorney] Alex Spiro,” Ak said as he read a report of Buzbee allegedly passing a venereal disease to an unnamed woman.

“I want no smoke with Roc Nation and I issue a formal apology,” Ak said. “I want to be on your team. I wanna be in the camp of the Roc Nation.”

He finished with, “See you at the brunch, gang.”

DJ Akademiks Apologizes For Publicly Criticizing Jay-Z And Roc Nation

DJ Akademiks is not a Jay-Z fan, historically. He’s a Drake fan, and recently, being in one means declaring war on the other. The media personality has been vocal in his opposition to Jay-Z, citing the goodwill he gets from the hip hop community in comparison to Drake. He’s also suggested that the Roc Nation co-founder conspired to give the Super Bowl Halftime Show over to Drake’s op, Kendrick Lamar. DJ Akademiks decided to change his tune on Thursday, though. The streamer went as far as to issue an apology.

DJ Akademiks went over the recent rape allegations made against Jay-Z. He also detailed the allegations that have been made against the lawyer of Jay’s accuser, Tony Buzbee. The lawyer has been accused of infecting a woman with a venereal disease. Ak could hardly believe it. The streamer claimed that Jay and Roc Nation are simply too powerful to critique. “This is why, I’m telling you,” he stated. “I want no smoke with Roc Nation and I issue a formal apology.” DJ Akademiks went on to address Hov, directly, explaining that he wants this statement to go viral. “Jay-Z,” Ak noted. “I want to be on your team. I wanna be in the camp of the Roc Nation.”

DJ Akademiks Claimed Roc Nation Was “Too Powerful”

DJ Akademiks’ apology did smack of cynicism, though. He praised Jay and Roc Nation for having too much power over the music industry. “This type of power, and this type of sliminess,” Akademiks said. “Hey, get me to a billionaire status, too.” The streamer then turned his attention toward Tory Lanez, an artist who has been openly criticizing Roc Nation for years. DJ Akademiks claimed that he will not have anything more to say on the Lanez case, despite being a supporter. “Tory’s my mans,” he admitted. “I ain’t gonna turn against Tory, but I got no more opinion on that.”

DJ Akademiks told Tory Lanez that he was on his “own” when it came to publicly insulting Jay-Z and Roc Nation. “Roc Nation is too goddamn powerful,” he conceded. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” DJ Akademiks had a remarkable turnaround, given that he was calling Jay-Z an “assassin” days before. The streamer was in awe of Jay’s alleged ability to put money above personal relationships and the well-being of others. He even expressed admiration for the rapper. “Jay-Z’s a cold n**ga… a cutthroat assassin,” he noted. “If it don’t make dollars then it don’t make sense.”

DJ Akademiks Isn’t Sure Lil Wayne’s Legacy Will Hold Up Following Kendrick Lamar Drama

DJ Akademiks has weighed in on how Lil Wayne has handled his recent drama with Kendrick Lamar. In doing so, he argued that the iconic rapper’s legacy may not stand the test of time. Wayne had been upset with the NFL for choosing Lamar to perform instead of him at the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show. After Lamar mentioned the drama on his new album, GNX, Wayne avoided starting a battle with him.

“I guarantee you this: Lil Wayne’s legacy in hip-hop is gonna kinda go down like Allen Iverson’s legacy in basketball,” Akademiks began. “What do I mean? Because a lot of what Wayne did to get that throne was done in the mixtape era, and these days we look at a lot of albums as the championship, per se, because we’ve almost like extinguished what’s called a mixtape or what they used to call mixtapes. They’re not existent on the platforms we now consume music on. He kinda looked like a guy who definitely revolutionized the game, like how A.I. did with how he was dribbling and how he played, but he’s kind of looked at as ringless.”

From there, Ak mentioned how many of the sites that host mixtapes, such as DatPiff, are no longer relevant. Additionally, he compared him to Jay-Z and noted how Jay has successfully aged in hip-hop by transitioning to the business side of the industry.

DJ Akademiks Weighs In On Lil Wayne

Lamar mentioned Wayne on his song, “wacced out murals,” rapping: “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.” Wayne eventually revealed that he had a phone call with Lamar and didn’t interpret the bars to be disrespectful. Jay-Z Labeled An “Assassin” By DJ Akademiks Following His Attorney’s Comments About Not Being Close With Diddy

Yesterday, Alex Spiro, the attorney for Jay-Z, got some folks upset thanks to a statement he made at a press roundtable. He explained that him and Diddy have never really had that much of a friendship. Instead, Spiro says it’s really about business with them and nothing more. “They knew each other professionally for a number of years. Just like in all professions, people know each other. At the music awards, they support each other. If you go to the NBA All-Star game, they support each other. That’s just how professions work. There is no closer association between any of them. That’s also a matter of fiction.”

Later Monday, Spiro gave another quote in a similar vein, saying, “There is no friendship or longtime bond here. Just because they knew each other, know each other, that doesn’t mean anything.” As we said, this got the internet riled up. One person wrote, “Ain’t friends?!?! they got more pics together than me and my dad.” The jokes didnt’ stop there, with another adding, “Diddy in his cell saying bet.. While rubbing his hands together like Bird Man.”

DJ Akademiks Has Some Respect For Jay-Z

Overall, people aren’t falling for the attorney’s words, but DJ Akademiks is a whole-hearted believer. The hip-hop media pundit went on stream recently and debated this topic with his chat room. As you may remember, Ak doesn’t necessarily have the most respect for Roc Nation and Jay-Z at large. However, he’s giving it up to him after learning this “fact” regarding his ties to Diddy.

Before getting into his monologue, he replayed an old clip of the two rap moguls together. In it, Jay is walking out of a room with adolescent-looking girls and then embracing Diddy after the fact. You can hear Hov say, “Ooooo, you put that thing on them.” Diddy then replies, “You see how we do it here on a Saturday.” The possible reasoning for Ak showing this is to say that even though they look to be close with one another in the video, he’s trying to suggest that he never really was that tight with him. It’s got Ak loving the “assassin” mentality that’s being put forth by Jay’s attorney. “Jay-Z’s a cold n****… a cutthroat assassin. If it don’t make dollars then it don’t make sense. F*** anything else, f*** a friend, f*** loyalty, f*** it, it’s all about the bag.”

DJ Akademiks Believes West Coast Hip-Hop Is Rarely Mainstream Now

Given how many artists have been popping off this year, it’s hard to pick just one that’s been the most dominant. There are arguments to be made for sure for a small handful. Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Tyler, The Creator immediately come to mind. You can also make the case for a region in 2024. The West Coast is definitely at the top of the list, thanks in large part to K. Dot. But ScHoolboy Q, SiR, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre (soon), are just a few others that have put out stellar projects. However, it goes beyond the mainstream names. Artists like Lefty Gunplay, JasonMartin, and Jay Worthy have also been doing some great things for the underground scene.

However, all of this isn’t enough for DJ Akademiks, who believes that this region isn’t as popular as people make it seem to be. He decided to present his argument to his livestream viewers recently, following some DMs between Mustard and Boi-1da that made the rounds. After initially supporting his Cali contemporary for his work on Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” the Drake affiliated producer had a change of heart. “West Coast rap is a**,” he said. Mustard decided to share that and the other key texts to publicly blast Boi-1da.

DJ Akademiks Has The Internet Split

DJ Akademiks personally doesn’t share that opinion, even though his takes on some West Coast artists would suggest otherwise. However, he recognizes that there are a few that have that much motion from that region. But it’s just that. Overall, Ak thinks that “99 percent” of rap from there doesn’t make it outside of California. For example, he mentions names like YG, who was dropping hit record after hit record back in the mid-2010s. But now, his sale numbers aren’t what they used to be.

Overall, his key reason as to why he stands by this claim is that he feels artists from there don’t market their material enough. Akademiks thinks most West Coast acts are overly sensitive and that they have a belief that they are on Kendrick’s level. Listening to his argument, he makes some points that make sense. In fact, he has quite a few agreeing with him as we speak. But he’s also losing some as well, as they are mentioning how they listen to West Coast music when they aren’t from there.

Social Media Influencer Alleges Drake Scammed $2 Million Out Of Him On DJ Akademiks’ Stream

You’rе not a rap artist, you a scam artist with the hopes of being accеpted.” These Kendrick Lamar lyrics on are allegedly coming to light today thanks to a wild story trending online. A social media influencer claims he was scammed out of $2 million in crypto from Drake over an alleged deal. The 20-year-old, who is also a rapper, got on a stream with Drizzy’s biggest supporter, DJ Akademiks, to tell his story. According to him, he was trying to get the help of the Toronto rapper to flip the money and double it. The alleged agreement was that the hitmaker was going to follow this influencer on social media (including his businesses), appear in a music video in Dubai, get introduced to Jenna Ortega (?), and for Drake to post him on his page.

Overall, this whole recount is extremely murky and feels a bit unsubstantiated. With that said, we are taking this all with a grain of salt. Top5 is also a part of this wacky exchange, playing sort of a middleman role. Allegedly, he was in constant contact with the kid and Drake throughout. For his efforts, he would be able to keep some expensive jewelry if The Boy kept his word. Speaking of which, he was guaranteeing that he was going to take the $2 million, bet it on Stake, and turn it into $4 million.

The 20-Year-Old Influencer Is Not Happy With Drake

However, that allegedly did not happen. The influencer goes on to say that he feels Drake and Top5 were staging all of this and were never going to fulfill his wishes. Things really got out of hand for the kid when he asked to speak with Drake directly. According to him, he asked for The Boy to send him a screenshot of how much money he made on the crypto betting site, and it was nowhere close to expected total.

Instead, the influencer alleges Drake only brought in $700,000. Additionally, he alleges that Top5 is hiding with the rest of his money and has been splurging with it. At this point of the explanation, the youngster claims to have screenshots of the Stake balance, as well as one that shows Drake doesn’t follow him anymore on social media. Finally, he plays a voicemail that appears to be from Drake. In it, he’s telling him that he essentially needs to chill out and it’s not a big deal. However, for someone who is nowhere near his financial status, this influencer is enraged over this loss. Drake allegedly then offers him some involvement in some business moves he has planned, but he’s not buying it. Again, this all very messy, and hopefully more information will surface to clear this up.

Foxy Brown DMs DJ Akademiks As He Discusses Jay-Z’s Allegations

Foxy Brown reportedly messaged DJ Akademiks on social media while he was discussing the recent allegation against Jay-Z for a live stream. She apparently asked Akademiks to, “Miss me with the f*ckery.” Jay has already denied the allegation, which stems from an amendment to a lawsuit previously filed against Diddy, earlier this year. In it, an anonymous woman accuses the Roc Nation founder of allegedly raping her at an afterparty for the 2000 MTV VMAs when she was just 13 years old.

“She DM’d me like 20 minutes ago. She says, ‘Miss me with the f*ckery, Ak.’ with the little heart, heart, hearts. I’m like, ‘Oh my God. Foxy f*cks with me.’ But I don’t know what that means,” Ak began. From there he advised her: “Now is the time to just be quiet. If you’re speaking at all, it kind of says that maybe you got some sh*t. We all know and believe Foxy’s just a real chick. She just not finna… But if you’re not coming out to say, ‘Yo, I love Jay. He’s a great guy. He ain’t do nothing.’ It’s gonna be taken as either you’re being silenced or you’re itching to tell us something.”

As the clip of Akademiks circulated on social media, fans complained about the way he’s covered the recent allegation against Jay-Z. “I wish everyone will cancel AK he has literally tried to destroy every black celebrity like come on with the bs. If foxy said it’s nothing then that should be it,” one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote. Another added: “I mean damn. She has said the same thing for years and people still run with narrative. Just like they run with ‘Jay met Beyonce at 16.’ Met? Yeah. Dating? Nah. But since they met at that age, they had to be dating according to ‘people.’”

Foxy Brown Details Relationship With Jay-Z

Jay-Z and his attorney, Alex Spiro, have already taken legal action against the lawyer representing the accuser. They allege he’s tried to extort Jay with the unfounded allegations. Check out DJ Akademiks’ full breakdown of Foxy Brown’s DM below.

Charlamagne Tha God Responds To DJ Akademiks Saying That He’s Showing Bias Toward Jay-Z

DJ Akademiks has been extremely vocal about Jay-Z since the moment the news broke about his bombshell allegation. The rap mogul and businessman is currently looking to dismiss it as quick as possible at the moment as him and lawyer feel this has no validity. “Due to the highly sensitive nature of this matter and the intense media scrutiny it has generated, we respectfully request to be heard on an expedited basis. For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Carter is entirely innocent. This is a shakedown,” his lawyer Alex Spiro said in a recent statement. On top of this, him and Hov are also looking for this Jane Doe to reveal her true identity going forward.

“Transparency in judicial proceedings is a fundamental principle,” Spiro said. “The plaintiff has failed to demonstrate any compelling reason to depart from this rule.” This is all still extremely fresh, so how long this plays out will be interesting to follow. Still though, Akademiks has not been too happy with how a lot of publications and other hip-hop media have been handling the news. The way he’s making it seem is that Jay-Z needs to be talked about in a more damning way.

Charlamagne Tha God Dismisses DJ Akademiks

It’s worth noting that Akademiks doesn’t particularly have lot of nice things to say about Roc Nation. He’s been highly critical and skeptical of their moves, especially during the Tory Lanez shooting. We say that because it’s possible that he wouldn’t mind seeing them (and in part Jay-Z) take hit following these allegations. Overall, he may have some bias too, even though he’s accusing others like Charlamagne Tha God and The Breakfast Club for showing it.

He felt that Charlamagne Tha God and the rest of the panel would be ripping Drake apart if he were Jay-Z’s shoes. However, he couldn’t disagree more. Charlamagne more so has an issue with lawyers trying to force and threaten those accused of paying a large sum of money or else. But he still isn’t buying the claims whatsoever, especially with the accuser remaining anonymous at the moment. Toward the end of the segment, Charlamagne also added that if there were clear-cut evidence proving that Jay-Z isn’t actually innocent (using Diddy beating Cassie as an example), then he would change his mind. For now though, he’s sticking by his opinion, regardless of what anyone has to say about it.

DJ Akademiks Implores That Drake Needs To Remain Quiet Amid Jay-Z’s Rape Allegation

Drake is now a major talking point within the discourse surrounding Jay-Z’s recent rape allegation thanks to DJ Akademiks. The rap media pundit has been intensely discussing this recent bombshell report of Hov allegedly sexually assaulting a then 13-year-old girl. The Jane Doe is accusing now the Roc Nation founder of the same act after initially only including Diddy in the October suit. Tony Buzbee, who’s been representing over 100 alleged victims in the latter’s case, re-filed it over the weekend. There have been a lot of shocked individuals online since the news hit, including one 50 Cent. Fif never been tight with Jay-Z, so he took the time to poke fun at him on IG.

“Ok, I don’t know what’s going on, but are we gonna still have the Super Bowl? 😟I’m just asking for a friend!” Some are taking this as a genuine question from 50 Cent, but others feel they are reading right through him. The G-Unit boss loves to taunt his foes, so it’s reasonable to think that he would laughing at Jay-Z. This is something that DJ Akademiks is strongly encouraging Drake not to do right now.

For some reason, he’s been looking to make loose connections fit with this Jay-Z story and Drizzy is one of them. Ak believes the Canadian superstar should just remain quiet, most likely because of the pedophile claims on Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us.” We say that because the clip above only shows but so much. However, Ak and Wack 100 were also discussing the 2010 concert in Colorado in which Drake was in awe over a 17-year-old girl.

If you remember, he brought her onstage and kissed her after complimenting her on her looks. The legal age is 17 in Colorado, and Akademiks was defending The Boy on a technicality for his still weird behavior. Ak did mention earlier in his livestream that he feels this whole rape allegation is nonsense. Additionally, he was imploring other rappers to stop with these wild accusations because he feels that some women are out to chase a bag. Still, even though Drake has never been accused of such a thing, given how people feel about him and the consistent mention of pedophilia against him, Akademiks thinks they will come for him next.

DJ Akademiks Continues To Defend Andrew Schulz By Calling Out Kendrick Lamar’s Hypocrisy

Andrew Schulz probably didn’t expect himself to be at the center of a new piece of Kendrick Lamar and Drake drama, but he certainly doubled down on it. That caused even more controversy given how he joked about sexually assaulting K.Dot in response to GNX‘s presumed “wacced out murals” diss, which didn’t even name-drop the comedian. But some folks, like DJ Akademiks, think that the indignant reactions to this debacle from Kendrick fans is hypocritical. This is because of how the Compton lyricist connected Drizzy to grooming and underage intimacy allegations and how some folks excused that attack.

“What has Kendrick done to everybody?” DJ Akademiks questioned. “Because it’s so hypocritical. No one stands on these supposed principles. Yo, Kendrick said Drake is a certified – ‘Yo, everything is fair in hip-hop, man. Ain’t no rules to this s**t, man. Lying has always been a part of hip-hop. N***a, ain’t no rules. This is hip-hop, n***a. Don’t start no beef if you don’t want to go there.’ A white comedian gets dissed and says, ‘I’m gonna f**k’ – It’s like, ‘Whoa! Whoa! What’s going on? Draw the line, weirdo! How could he speak like this?’

DJ Akademiks Calls Out Kendrick Lamar Fans’ Hypocrisy In Andrew Schulz Drama

“What is it?” DJ Akademiks asked of Kendrick Lamar fans angry at Andrew Schulz. “‘Cause y’all just have one standard? And I agree with that, too. Is it no rules or is it rules? The same motherf***ers who be like, ‘Yo, so what if he lied and called Drake a certified p*dophile?’ But as soon as I make fun of his song, ‘Yo, chill, chill! I don’t even know if that s**t’s true. That’s just, like, playing off of a song.’ But he can say anything he wants. So you get to realize, man, this s**t a whole bunch of bulls**t.”

Of course, there’s a lot more nuance here that DJ Akademiks – or many other media figures, for that matter – isn’t fully unpacking. Kendrick Lamar dissing white comedians is very different from Andrew Schulz using that as trigger-happy provocation, particularly in a sexual assault context. But it is true that Kendrick fans making a fuss out of the fallout have to reckon with what personal attacks and oversteps they trusted.
