ScHoolboy Q Alludes On New ‘Blue Lips’ Album Ye Was “Canceled” Unfairly

Screen Shot 2024 07 24 at 6.55.27 PM

ScHoolboy Q went in on his new album and recently had to clarify some lyrics on a song where the TDE rapper discussed a popular artist who in his opinion, he believes was unfairly “cancelled.”

Well, who could he possibly be talking about?

During a live performance, Schoolboy Q got right to it and revealed that the artist in question on his track “Blueslides” from the album “Blue Lips” is Kanye West.

Get this, a Reddit user, u/TheMisiak, who attended one of Q’s concerts during his Blue Lips Weekends tour, shared this revelation on the platform.

Now we know Reddit can be tricky to use but we got ya’ll covered. ScHoolboy Q did not censor West’s name during the live performance, unlike the edited version on the album.

“When Q performed ‘Blueslides,’ he didn’t censor himself like he did on the track itself,” the fan wrote on Reddit. “Just thought it was interesting that he waited until the tour to reveal who he was referencing.” Whelp, now we know.

Reddit being Reddit, the fan unpacked a bit more and mentioned an interview with Nadeska, where ScHoolboy Q avoided elaborating on the line or naming the person he was referring to:

”If there are still tickets available in your city for his show, I cannot recommend going enough. Best concert of my life,” the user added.

Responses to the Reddit post were mixed, as they can be where many commenters argued that Kanye West was not unfairly cancelled.

They pointed to his controversial actions and statements, which they believe warranted the backlash he received.

Let’s be real, when you praise Hitler, or attack any one cultural or religious group, you lose most (sane) crowds … everywhere. Despicable behavior TBH.

Back to the bars … On the second verse of “Blueslides,” the first single from “Blue Lips”, ScHoolboy Q raps, “You ni””as see what I see? / You ni””as really cancelled—, ni””a, I ain’t with it, nah / We was screamin’, ‘mental health,’ and now we wanna kill ’em all,” which sparked speculation about the identity of the “cancelled” figure.

What y’all think? Does Schoolboy Q have a point or is he trippin?

WATCH: ‘Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist’ Trailer Starring Kevin Hart in Limited Series Based on True Story

image

Get this, ”Fight Night” is adapted from the acclaimed iHeart true-crime podcast of the same name. It delves into the real events that took place in Atlanta on October 26, 1970. Will Packer, who produced the podcast, also serves as an executive producer for the series.

Kevin Hart plays Chicken Man, a hustler striving to make his mark among elite Black mafia members, gangsters, and powerful figures not just in Georgia but nationwide. He throws an afterparty to celebrate the historic fight between Muhammad Ali and Jerry Quarry, marking Ali’s return to boxing after being banned for refusing military draft. FYI, that was a big deal back then.

We won’t say to much but the party takes a disastrous turn when attendees are robbed in what is known as Atlanta’s most audacious underworld heist, with Chicken Man suspected of masterminding the plot. He must then work to prove his innocence as law enforcement seeks to bring justice to the victims.

Don Cheadle plays Detective J.D. Hudson, who faces the complex challenge of investigating the heist, especially since some victims are also criminals. That’s a good role for Cheadle, he has played a great cop or federal agent in several roles in the past.

So the podcast that inspired the limited series, first aired back in 2020, and provides the storyline:

“On October 26, 1970, Muhammad Ali triumphantly returned to boxing in Atlanta, Georgia. But the next morning, national headlines featured one of the biggest heists in history. At the center was a hustler named ‘Chicken Man.’ Fans arrived in Rolls Royces from New York City, wearing vibrant fur coats and diamonds. They entered the arena with engraved invitations, cheering when the first-round bell rang, minus two empty seats. After the fight, many top Black mafia leaders headed to Chicken Man’s house for a celebration, only to be met by sawed-off shotguns. On FIGHT NIGHT, J.D. Hudson, one of Atlanta’s first Black detectives, who helped lead Ali into the ring, was assigned to the robbery investigation by the police chief the next day. When asked years later, ‘When did the investigation end?’ J.D. replied, ‘When everybody was dead.’”

Behind the camera are Shaye Ogbonna and Jason Horwitch who serve as creators and showrunners. Executive producers include Bryan Smiley and Mike Stein for Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat, Will Packer and Sabrina Wind for Will Packer Media, and Conal Byrne, Will Pearson, and Carrie Lieberman for iHeartPodcasts, alongside Jeff Keating, Lars Jacobson, Hart, and Packer.

Screen Shot 2024 07 24 at 2.40.29 PM

Streamers are breaking records now? Guess so and Kai Cenat is doing it again after recently teasing on the Twitch chat to debut an unreleased track by Drake and Lil Yachty. That’s kind of a big deal.

Get this, the song is rumored to be titled “Super Soak,” and although Cenat didn’t confirm the name, he did play the entire track, which runs for about four minutes.

The song features a sample from Mr. HotSpot’s “Goodness Gracious.” That original song is a vibe btw.

Drake leads the hook with the bars:

“I’m watching the moves, I’m playin’ it close / S.O.D., super soak / Rainy days, his and hers, matching coat / Jet is so big, it feel like a boat, staying afloat / I’m watching the moves, I’m playin’ it close.”

Following Drake’s hook, Lil Yachty, also known as Boat, takes over for the final two verses and does his Yachty thing which doesn’t disappoint.

Summer vibe for sure.

Preview it here and let us know what you think:

Drake Fan Creates ‘Family Matters’ Online Video Game; Players Can Keep Grammy Away From a Digital Kendrick

image

Ayo, fans are wild. Drake fans to be exact. ICYMI, earlier this month, Kendrick Lamar fans kept up the same energy with the Compton rapper’s Drake feud by launching an online video game inspired by the epic chart topping diss track “Not Like Us.”

The game, was reminiscent of the piñata scene from the song’s visual – basically a generic twist on the classic whack-a-mole, featuring OVO owls as targets. Gotcha. Kill owls. Call PETA. Kidding.

In response to that gamer trolling, a Drake enthusiast created *Family Matters: The Game*, which can be played online. Check it out: https://playfamilymatters.com

Get this, when you start the game, and a lo-fi Family Matters beat drops, an on-screen message reads:

“Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go feed him a Grammy right now. Tap the Grammy to feed Kenny. Don’t miss or he’ll be sad.”

Then gameplay involves a moving arrow that indicates where the Grammy will be thrown when you click or tap, while a pixelated Kendrick Lamar moves side-to-side.

Low key genius.

If you miss, Lamar’s character grimaces, makes a sad sound, and a tear rolls down his face.

Super petty.

Obviously, te game’s theme draws from Drake’s lyric in “Family Matters,” where he raps, “Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a Grammy right now.”

LOL Ya’ll got too much time on your hands!

50 Cent Posts Pic With Drake; Teases They’re “Brainstorming” Potential Hollywood Collab

Screen Shot 2024 07 22 at 11.54.05 AM

Recently G-Unit honcho 50 Cent created a stir as he’s known to do with recent pics alongside Drake in Toronto, posted on July 21. The Queens rapper turned television producer of the huge “Power” franchise, hinted at some sort of collab between the two living legends.

Here’s what 50 posted:

“Brain [brain emoji] storming last night me and @champagnepapi gonna get the [camera emoji] rolling biggest ting on your TV GLG,” wrote the 49-year-old. “GreenLightGang” signals that the collaborative effort would likely be on the silver screen.

Screen Shot 2024 07 22 at 11.55.05 AM

Mind you, Drake posted the pic on his IG stories, so the vibes were mutual.

Comments got active and some were shunning 50 for the pic, Dot fans, obviously. While others understand why two heavyweights might consider partnering up.

Listen, love them or hate them they both are giants from music to other media including Hollywood.

50 is a real force from acting with big names to executive producing the aforementioned “Power” series and all the spinoffs, prequels and more.

Drake is the executive producer of HBO’s “Euphoria” series, considered one of the biggest shows at Warner and stars Zendaya.

Together, who knows what they can come up with in Hollywood.

And when it comes to 50 Cent trolling as he’s been known to do, this could be one big misdirection but one thing he’s usually serious about is his Hollywood endeavors.

Exciting times for the possibilities no matter what you have in your playlist, “Not Like Us,” “Family Matters,” or 50 Cent’s greatest hits. Take your pick.

What’s Up With the Kamala Harris Meme ‘You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?’

image

“You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” Okay, huh?

Vice President Kamala Harris spoke this phrase, which has now become a meme, on May 10, 2023, during her remarks at the swearing-in ceremony for the President’s Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics. Can we first acknowledge how dope that ceremony was?

Back to the coconuts …

The quote gained significant attention around June 28, 2024, according to Google Trends data.

Get this, the surge in interest came just days after a debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, coinciding with growing calls for Biden to step out of the presidential race.

The context of Harris’s “coconut tree” remark involved a broader discussion where she mentioned how “everything is in context,” and recalled how her mother used to give her a hard time.

The quote itself, “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” was delivered with a sudden tone shift from light-hearted to serious, followed by, “you exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.”

Making more sense, right?

The imagery of falling out of a coconut tree combined with Harris’s sudden seriousness made the quote memorable. Gotta love (or hate) meme culture.

While initially, it did not attract much attention, it became widely popular online almost a year later, especially after Biden’s challenging debate performance. The quote’s rise to meme status was fueled by discussions about whether Harris should take over Biden’s spot in the presidential race.

Harris’s expression resonated with many, leading to a proliferation of memes, both ironic and supportive, suggesting her as a suitable replacement for Biden.

We agree – she is.

The absurdity and timing of the quote helped it stand out among Harris’s numerous public statements, cementing its place in internet culture.

And with that, the VP Kamala Harris for President internet tsunami has begun.

Watch: New Trailer For ‘Bel-Air’ Season 3 Teases a Familiar Face From Original ‘Fresh Prince’

image

“Bel-Air” is returning for its third season, promising more drama, intrigue – all that good stuff. In the season three trailer, Joseph Marcell, best known for his role as Geoffrey, the smart mouthed butler who waited on the Banks family in the original ’90s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Well, we didn’t have that on our bingo card.

Get this, Marcell’s new role in “Bel-Air” is being kept close to the vest.

But showrunner Carla Banks-Waddles hinted to The Wrap that Marcell is playing a “mysterious member of the Banks family’s past.” A ha.

Now onto the trailer, Marcell’s mysterious character delivers a cryptic line to Will (Jabari Banks): “There’s always going to be a price — that’s on you.” Whether the news is good or bad, it’s left for interpretation.

At least we do know the main cast will return for Season Three, including Jabari Banks (Will), Adrian Holmes (Phillip Banks), Cassandra Freeman (Vivian Banks), Olly Sholotan (Carlton Banks), Coco Jones (Hilary Banks), Akira Akbar (Ashley Banks), Jimmy Akingbola (Geoffrey), Jordan L. Jones (Jazz), and Simone Joy Jones (Lisa). Guest stars Joseph Marcell and Karrueche Tran also appear in the new season.

Reflecting on bringing Marcell onto the show, Banks-Waddles shared the logistical challenges due to his schedule and residence in London.

She went on to explain, “We had a couple of ideas, but we weren’t sure on availability and storyline, and he’s the one that made sense. It was even tough for him because he doesn’t live here; he lives in London. He’s very much a working actor, does plays, was in the middle of a play, so just getting him here to L.A. for the availability was a feat. We weren’t even sure that was going to work out. So we had a couple of ideas for ways to get some O.G. cast in, and he was at the top of that list.”

Sounds like a nice bit of nostalgia adding Marcell. We’ll see how it all goes down when “Bel-Air” premieres on Peacock,Thursday, August 15.

Cardi B Calls President Biden Selfish for Not Passing “The Torch” to VP Kamala Harris

Screen Shot 2024 07 18 at 4.49.24 PM

Guessing the POTUS or Trump can count Cardi B, out in the upcoming election. The “Bodak Yellow” rap diva recently stated she would not be voting in the upcoming election, and went as far to label President Joe Biden “selfish” for his decision to seek re-election. Seems like a recurring theme as of late.

There’s more to Cardi’s thought process.

The Bronx rapper argues that Biden should have allowed Vice President Kamala Harris to run against Donald Trump, claiming Biden is not a strong enough candidate.

“I feel like it was very selfish of Biden and the whole Democrat party… that they allow Biden to continue to run for president. I feel like they should have passed the torch to Kamala. This was the perfect moment for her. Right now, I don’t feel like we have strong candidates,” she passionately expressed.

We know you’ve heard it because it dominates the new cycle but the debate between Biden and Trump has sparked rumors about Biden’s health, with good reason.

Some outside of celebs like Cardi have even speculated he may be suffering from a neurological disorder. We aren’t saying he is but some are saying …

However, Biden has denied these unproven claims and confirmed his intention to run against Trump. With him down badly in the polls, is he right or is Cardi making sense calling him “selfish?”

Cardi B went on with her harsh critique:

“I feel like this would have been her perfect time to shine. We already know she’s sharp with the f-cking mouth. Whatever value that Biden wants, she’s practically the same value. So I feel like it was a little bit selfish to not make that choice to give her this moment to run for presidency.”

It should come as no surprise but Cardi B has criticized the U.S. involvement in the Israel-Hamas conflict and how Biden is handling the economy. Full stop, we have the lowest unemployment rate in recent memory among other positives that are often overlooked when louder voices make it appear like the economy is doom and gloom.

In Cardi’s Rolling Stone cover story in May, she stated, “I feel like people got betrayed. It’s just like, ‘Damn, y’all not caring about nobody.’ Then, it really gets me upset that there is solutions to it. There is a solution. I know there’s a solution because you’re spending billions of dollars on any f–king thing.”

What ya’ll think does Cardi have a point?
