Deontay Wilder’s Fiancee Hits Him With Restraining Order, Alleges Domestic Violence

Telli Swift, the fiancée of boxer Deontay Wilder, recently obtained a temporary restraining order against the famous athlete after she alleged that he had mistreated her several times during the previous six years. Swift, who started dating Wilder in 2015, submitted an application for the TRO in Los Angeles late last week. On Monday, the judge approved it, two days after Wilder was eliminated in a well-publicized match with Zhilei Zhang.

Swift said in her order request that Wilder had choked her “at least five times” since 2018. She added that the 38-year-old heavyweight had spit on her numerous other times and that, in a fit of rage, he had forced her face into a pillow for so long that she “nearly suffocated.” Additionally, Swift said that in mid-April, Wilder obtained unauthorized access to her laptop and sent unsettling texts to both her personal and professional connections. Swift said in the TRO application that the abuse continued, claiming that Wilder would not stop disparaging her, threatening to destroy her possessions, and expecting her to have sex with him “three times a day.”

She most recently claimed on April 15 that Deonty Wilder threw her out of their Atlanta home, even though she was in critical condition following an invasive operation. After becoming engaged to the fighter in 2018, Swift said she had been living in their LA area house with their 6-year-old daughter, but she also claimed that Wilder had been spying on her through the home’s surveillance system. When Wilder eventually returned home after his altercation with Zhang in Saudi Arabia, she continued to be concerned that he might become aggressive against her.

Wilder has not yet responded to the accusations in writing. Until both parties appear before a judge on June 25, the TRO—which mandates that Wilder keep at least 100 yards away from Swift and their daughter—will be in force. Overall, these are serious allegations against Wilder. The former boxing champ was just recently knocked out by Zhilei Zhang in an embarrassing fashion. His fiance has gone through the necessary steps to protect herself against the abusive behavior that she alleges has been going on for quite a while.

Deontay Wilder Stunned By Joseph Parker In Historic Upset

Deontay Wilder lost his heavyweight bout against Joseph Parker in a stunning upset that sent shockwaves across the boxing world. Wilder was thoroughly outclassed in the unanimous decision defeat and was humble enough to admit it after the fight. “He did a great job avoiding a lot of my punches. We make no excuses tonight. It was a good fight, and we move on to the next thing,” Wilder said. Despite having fought just one round since November 2021, Wilder was still the -700 favorite entering the bout. However, Parker never gave the Bronze Bomber a chance to properly uncork his signature right hook.

“Coming into this fight, everyone had other plans, but this is God’s plan. Today, what a win. Merry Christmas to us,” Parker said after the fight. The win marked Parker’s fourth of the year and saw him add the WBC International Heavyweight belt to his growing list of titles. It’s unclear what Parker’s next move will be. However, he was sure of one thing after the fight. “I’m back,” he declared.

Deontay Wilder Loss Jeopardizes Anthony Joshua Fight

However, Wilder’s loss is so much bigger than just the American boxer. He entered the fight with Parker with a deal in place to fight Anthony Joshua next March if both men won. Joshua did his part later in the night, pummelling Otto Wallin so badly that Wallin’s corner threw in the towel after five rounds. With Wilder’s loss, it has led to Joshua already eyeing new options.

After the fight, Joshua said he was still open to a fight with Wilder. However, promoter Eddie Hearn quickly pivoted the conversation to a different fight instead. With a belt likely to become vacant due to the Fury-Usyk fight, Hearn has already begun hyping a title bout between Joshua and Filip Hrgović, the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist. Despite this, Joshua still expressed hope that Wilder could eventually rebound into being title-contention caliber again. “You can do anything, and if [Wilder] wants to come back he can do it,” Joshua noted.

Heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder was arrested in Los Angeles on a routine traffic stop.

According to TMZ, Wilder was pulled over in Hollywood after 1 a.m. on Tuesday (May 2) for illegal tints and obstruction of his license plate. During the stop, a smell of marijuana came from the vehicle leading to a search.

In addition to the weed, Wilder had a 9mm handgun inside the car, leading to his arrest. Wilder cooperated and was booked for possession of a concealed weapon. He bonded out hours later.

Deontay Wilder Reacts After Being Arrested For Gun Possession

Deontay Wilder is currently in an interesting spot in his career. After losing twice to Tyson Fury, Wilder decided to fight Robert Helenius. Overall, this was a good idea for Wilder as he won the match via knockout. It was a huge fight for his confidence, and subsequently, he is expected to go up against Anthony Joshua. Although this would not be for belts, this would be for bragging rights. After all, these two men used to be at the top of the heavyweight division and were on track to unify their belts.

Now, however, Deontay Wilder is finding himself in a legal situation. According to TMZ, Wilder was arrested on Tuesday morning while driving around Los Angeles. As the story goes, Wilder was in a Rolls Royce when it was stopped by police. Per the report, the police felt like the windows were too tinted. Furthermore, the license plate was partially obstructed. Upon the traffic stop, cops smelled weed in the car which then led to a full search. Subsequently, a gun was found and Wilder was arrested and hit with a possession of a concealed weapon charge.

Just a few hours later, Deontay Wilder was released on bond. Moreover, in the tweet above, Wilder commented on the situation. Simply put, it seems like Wilder only had the weapon for self-defense purposes. “I’d rather be safe than sorry. The End,” he wrote. As someone who is incredibly famous and wealthy, it is easy to see why Wilder would want to remain protected. Famous people are oftentimes the targets of crime and theft, and a gun is seen as a way to cover your bases. Moving forward, it remains to be seen what will happen with the charges.

Additionally, it has yet to be determined how this may affect a potential fight against Joshua. However, it doesn’t seem like any sort of repercussions will be on their way from a boxing perspective. Francis Ngannou used to be the heavyweight champion of the UFC. However, that title now belongs to none other than Jon Jones. Jones defeated Ciryl Gane for the title, as Ngannou had previously been dropped by the UFC. Although Ngannou was willing to stay in the UFC, Dana White didn’t seem too eager to pay him what he was worth. Ultimately, it robbed fans of an amazing fight between Jones and Ngannou. Now, we can only sit and think about what this fight might have been.

Overall, Ngannou isn’t too pressed about not being part of the UFC anymore. This is because he is exploring plenty of other avenues. For instance, he wants to get into the boxing ring. In the past, we have reported on his desire to fight against Tyson Fury. Now, however, it seems like he has a different opponent in mind. According to TMZ, this adversary is none other than Deontay Wilder. As Ngannou explained, Wilder is willing and able to fight. Additionally, they are thinking of doing two fights, with one happening in Africa.

“We are looking into [Deontay Wilder] because he’s available,” Ngannou said. “He’s ready for that. He’s very excited about [a fight with me]. He wants it. So, we are looking into that. That’s something I’m very excited about. We even discussed a potential one fight in Africa and one fight somewhere else. Why not even the two fights in Africa?” The last time we saw Wilder fight, was in October when he defeated Robert Helenius. It was his first win after taking two losses in a row to Tyson Fury.

Overall, this would definitely make for an interesting fight. Although, there is no doubt that Wilder would be the favorite. He has more experience when it comes to boxing, and he would be more agile in the ring.
