Diddy Prosecutors Accuse Mogul Of “Hijacking” Criminal Case To Quell Civil Lawsuits

The prosecution in the Diddy case issued a scathing response to various of the defense’s motions on Wednesday (October 30), according to court documents reportedly obtained by AllHipHop. They sought to convince a judge that Sean Combs’ requests for a gag order, an investigation into alleged leaks, and revealing alleged victim and witness names are misguided efforts that seek to conflate his responses to his various civil lawsuits with evidence suppression and a “hijacking” of his criminal case. As such, the feds urged the judge in this case to deny these motions. One of the feds’ first clap-backs concerned allegations that they leaked the Cassie video as grand jury information to the press.

However, federal prosecutors claim that Diddy’s team failed to show evidence of the leak of any grand jury material in the criminal case for alleged sex trafficking and racketeering. They claim that the leak motion aims to “suppress highly probative evidence” such as the Cassie video. Furthermore, the feds alleged that the Bad Boy mogul’s team is well-aware that the government never had access to that video at the time of its release and that they never got it through a grand jury process. As for other alleged grand jury information leaks alleged by the defense, the prosecution alleges they “grasped at straws” in other accusations about supposed “law enforcement sources” leaking to the press.

“The defendant cannot credibly claim that he will suffer unfair surprise at trial,” Diddy’s prosecutors claimed. “Rather, it is plain that the defendant’s request for a bill of particulars containing victim names is merely a vehicle to attempt to prematurely restrict the Government’s proof at trial and use these criminal proceedings to defend himself in the press against complainants in separate civil litigation. This improper request should be denied in its entirety, particularly here, where there are serious and ongoing concerns of victim and witness safety, tampering and intimidation.” The feds believe Combs tried to “hijack the criminal proceeding” to deal with his civil lawsuits, and that he doesn’t need a witness list six months before his trial begins.

In addition, they characterized Diddy’s motion as either a “blanket [gag] order” for all accusers or a “limited order” that would reveal witnesses months before trial. In both cases, they alleged this is an unprecedented and hostile use of local criminal law to “gag civil claimants whether or not their statements [connect] to this criminal proceeding.” While prosecutors denied any grand jury press leak, they identified only one alleged source – a supposed Homeland Security officer – in the news articles cited by Puff as a “plausible connection” to the investigation. They made it clear that the information in the alleged source’s discussion was mostly already public record. Even though they agreed with the defense that “extrajudicial commentary by [involved] law enforcement officers” is unacceptable, this source from a search is in no way a part of the prosecution.

Wack 100 Is Livid Over Menendez Brothers Discourse

Wack 100 always offers his hot takes and assessments on hip-hop’s legal situations, but sometimes he talks about other criminal cases in wider society. For example, he recently joined No Jumper and spoke about the Menendez brothers’ case and people advocating for their release from prison. If you didn’t know, a court convicted Joseph and Erik Menendez of murder in 1996 and gave them life sentences for killing their parents in Beverly Hills back in 1989. The conversation around them these days stems from new information, appeals, and reflections that resulted in many calling for their release, as they allegedly acted in self-defense due to their parents’ abuse. That’s something that Wack can’t get behind.

“Nah, don’t let them out,” Wack 100 expressed on No Jumper with Adam22 concerning the Menendez brothers. “I’ma tell you why. Listen, they say all that happened. This is the problem I got. If y’all gon’ let the Menendez brothers out… [for] overkill murder… If you’re going to let them out because they were at 18 and 21 years old… Let out all those Black and brown people in there whose daughter said, ‘Dad, when I was nine, the neighbor did this, or uncle such did this,’ and the dad went over there and killed them and is doing life in jail.”

Wack 100 Speaks On The Menendez Brothers Case

In addition, Wack 100 posited that U.S. law doesn’t account for after-the-fact murder for other crimes that happened to that murderer. He suggested that the situation would be different if the Menendez brothers committed murder while their parents were in the middle of abusing them, not the premeditated murder that prosecutors characterized this as. Most importantly for the music executive, he called out double standards when it comes to other folks’ incarceration that faced similar situations.

As for other Wack 100 takes, he recently explained what he called a misinterpreted claim about Drake sending Kendrick Lamar a cease and desist to prevent him from performing “Not Like Us” during his Super Bowl halftime show. On multiple occasions, Wack has claimed that he never directly issued this accusation. We’ll see if he walks back his Menendez brothers assessment one day as well.

Jelly Roll Purposely Avoided Meeting Diddy Because Of A”Bad Feeling”

Jelly Roll is a bona fide superstar. The country singer has put out hit singles and earned multiple Grammy nominations throughout his two decade career. Unsurprisingly, this success has allowed Jelly Roll to rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in music. At least, when Jelly Roll wants to. The musician had a chance to meet Diddy in 2023, but he claimed that he passed on the opportunity due to a bad feeling. A bad feeling that has proven correct, given the harrowing legal situation that Diddy currently finds himself embroiled in.

Jelly Roll’s recent appearance on the CANCELLED podcast led to him telling hosts Tana Mongeau and Brooke Schofield that he nearly encountered Diddy at a talk show taping. The country star had just made his debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and was told that Diddy was available to meet backstage. He told the CANCELLED duo that he initially accepted the offer, but something changed as he approached Diddy’s green room. “As I was getting down the hallway — this is a true story — I said, ‘Nah’ and went and got back in the car,” he recounted. “When we were walking, I was like, I don’t know.” The meeting never happened.

Jelly Roll Didn’t Want To Take A Photo With Diddy

Jelly Roll’s instincts proved to be correct. The “Need a Favor” singer admitted that he doesn’t often get bad feelings around celebrities, but this incident stood out. “Very seldom does things rub me in a [bad] way,” he recounted. “I was like, I don’t even know if that’s a picture I want.” The hesitance to grab a pic with Diddy stemmed from uncomfortable encounters that the singer had on red carpets. “They’re like, ‘Hey, y’all get together’,” he explained. “And you’re like, ‘Yo, I don’t really know who this human is’.”

Nevertheless, Diddy and Jelly Roll are on completely different ends of the spectrum in 2024. Firstly, the former is facing a mountain of criminal accusations amidst a crumbling legacy, and secondly, the latter continues to rack up crossover hits. Jelly Roll’s latest single, “Best for Me“, is currently on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Billboard Hot 100 charts. The Beautifully Broken Tour is the next big ticket item on Jelly Roll’s list. The highly-anticipated tour will begin in August and span a whopping 40 cities.

Donald Trump Ordered To Pay $1.6 Million In Tax Fraud Case

Donald Trump is evidently no stranger to controversies or legal battles. The 76-year-old is gearing up to make another run at Presidency in 2024. However, he’s found himself in yet another criminal case.

On Friday (January 13), a New York judge ordered two of his companies to pay up in a criminal tax fraud case. Although the payment is only $1.6 million, this is the maximum that state rules allow.

Furthermore, Ilya Marritz, who was covering the trial for NPR, says it’s really not a lot of money for these crimes.

“At trial, prosecutors showed that executives working for Trump engaged in a wide variety of maneuvers to evade local, state and federal taxes over more than a decade. And many of those tricks also benefited the Trump business. One executive got an apartment and cars and private school tuition, all undeclared, off the books. That meant Trump didn’t have to raise that executive’s wages for many years, and the Trump business also skirted payroll and Medicare taxes,” he says.

The former President and his legal team say they are preparing to appeal the case’s verdict.

Of course, Trump officially left office in 2021, following President Joe Biden‘s victory in the 2020 election. However, he initially fought against his loss, claiming he had in fact won. He subsequently filed lawsuits alleging that election fraud took place.

Regardless, the new conviction will likely not impact his hopeful run of becoming President again. “That’s equivalent to about $25 to Donald Trump. He probably spends more at McDonalds,” says political commentator, Scottie Hughes in response to the verdict.
