Charlamagne Tha God Says Colin Kaepernick's Letter to Jets is 'Down Right Pathetic'

Charlamagne Tha God isn’t feeling Colin Kaepernick’s letter to the New York Jets asking to become a practice team member. During Wednesday’s edition of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne called the letter “pitiful.”

“It’s tragically said and down right pathetic that Colin Kapernick wrote that letter,” Charlamagne said. “He has let his setbacks become his identity. God has exalted Colin Kaepernick into a position of leadership in regards to activism and it pains me to see him begging to be in a league that he compared to a plantation.

“I hate that he can never speak for himself. He always has someone speaking for him or putting out a message for him and that’s so wack to me. I wish Colin the best in all his endeavors but this begging the same people he called racist for an opportunity is absolutely pitiful to me.”

In case you missed it, Colin Kaepernick is attempting to make the New York Jets practice squad, and J. Cole is down to help. Hitting Instagram, Cole released a letter from Kaep to the Jets’ General Manager, Joe Douglas.

“I asked Colin @kaepernick7 if I could share this letter with the world. He was reluctant,” Cole wrote. “My argument was that I believe the people and all organizations should know the truth about how hard he works and how much he still wants to play. And always has. In the end, he agreed to let me.”

Kaepernick detailed how his abilities could prep the Jets’ defense for future games against mobile quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Jalen Hurts in the letter. Kaep also stated he was not attempting to undermine the current starting quarterback, Zach Wilson.

J. Cole Shares Colin Kaepernick’s Letter To New York Jets General Manager About NFL Return

Colin Kaepernick, J Cole

J. Cole recently shared a heartfelt letter penned by free agent NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick to the New York Jets general manager. This comes as Kaepernick continues to face criticism and claims of being “blackballed” from the league due to his controversial kneeling protests during the national anthem in 2016. J. Cole Shared The Letter Colin Kaepernick Sent To The New York Jets After Aaron Rodgers Was Injured

It has now been six years and five seasons since Colin Kaepernick‘s last game in the NFL before being basically blackballed over his “controversial” (read: totally reasonable and understandable) opinions on the National Anthem. Despite the time away and unfair treatment by the league, it seems he hasn’t lost his passion for the game or his desire to play. And apparently, no one wants to see him get a second chance more than J. Cole.

The rapper, who is a friend of Kaep’s and one of his staunchest advocates, shared a letter the QB recently wrote to the New York Jets seeking an opportunity to prove himself. The Jets, of course, are down one starting field general due to Aaron Rodgers’ injury in the Jets’ September 11 game against the Buffalo Bills. Cole said he asked Kaepernick if he could share the letter, likely hoping that publicizing it would increase his chances at getting a callback — if not from the Jets than from one of the teams that could use a QB.

“My argument was that I believe the people and all organizations should know the truth about how hard he works and how much he still wants to play,” the rapper wrote. “And always has. In the end, he agreed to let me.” In the caption, he wrote, “Everyone from players, to coaches, to execs are feeling the pressure I’m sure. I hope y’all can turn it around, and I hope there’s a spot out there for my boy Kap.”

You can read the letter in its entirety below.

Joe Douglas New York Jets 1 Jets Dr. Florham Park, NJ 07932

Joe,
I hope this letter finds you in great spirits, despite the less-than-ideal start to a big season. I’m wishing you, your staff, and the players a great game this weekend as you look to bounce back.

I’m writing, of course, in response to the unfortunate loss of Aaron Rodgers. I know the aspirations this season were, and still are, to win a championship, and so that Hall of Fame-sized hole will need to be filled as best as possible to keep the team on a Super Bowl track. As of right now, Zach Wilson is charged with that task, and I wish him and the rest of the team the best moving forward.

However, I know that there are currently depth issues at the position, and I’ve heard that the back-up spot is likely to be filled by a veteran Quarterback. As much as I would love the opportunity to fill that spot, I’m writing you in hopes that you can imagine a much different approach involving me; I would be honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to come in and lead the practice squad. I would do this with the sole mission of getting your defense ready each week. If I were able to fill this role for the team, I believe this allows for multiple things.

1. It gives your Defense the advantage of getting a truer read on the more mobile/athletic/versatile quarterbacks it will face when in weeks 4, 5 and 6 (Mahomes, Wilson, and Hurts). I would consider it a privilege to be able to do this and would take on this responsibility with the dedication and passion as if it were the QB1 position.

2. This would also allow you guys as an organization to take a real look at where I’m at football wise, in game-like situations against an elite defense, while also not putting any competitive pressure on Zach. I understand the importance of keeping him confident and focused as QB1, and I would only look to boost that confidence in any interactions that we may have if I was given this role within the team.

In a perfect world for the Jets, Zach Wilson finds his stride and shows that he is able to lead this championship caliber team that you’ve put together to the Super Bowl. I believe a confident Zach Wilson has the tools to do this. However, in the event that this is not the case, I would love to offer you a risk-free contingency plan.

I am sure of my ability to provide you with an elite QB option if, God forbid, QB1 goes down. However, I know that there may naturally be uncertainties from you and possibly from others about my playing abilities. This plan, I believe, allows me to be of great service to the team as a practice squad QB, while also giving you a low-commitment chance to assess my capabilities to help in any other capacity you may see fit.

Worst case scenario, you see what I have to offer and you’re not that impressed. Best case scenario, you realize you have a real weapon at your disposal in the event you ever need to use it. In either of these scenarios, I would be committed to getting your defense ready week in and week out, all season long, and I would wear that responsibility like a badge of honor.

As a final point, I would like to add this. Unlike many of the veteran QB’s that have been named in the media, I’ve never retired or stopped training. My training schedule has remained the same for 6 years; Monday through Friday, 5am-8am training on the field and in the weight room. I’ve kept this training schedule without failure for the past 6 years, in hopes that an opportunity will present itself. I say this to give you some perspective on where I’m at physically.

I have also attached a list of my references within the league that will vouch for my character, work ethic and ability.
Thanks so much for your time.

Colin Kaepernick

New York Jets Add Trevor Siemian to Practice Squad

The New York Jets signed Trevor Siemian to their practice squad. The signing comes after Siemian was dropped from the Cincinnati Bengals in the preseason.

Siemian now joins a quarterback locker room with Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle. So far this season, Wilson has four interceptions across the first three games. Against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Siemian only totaled 157 yards in the 15-10 loss.

Siemian’s signing comes after Colin Kaepernick attempted to make the New York Jets practice squad. Hitting Instagram, Kaepernick’s friend J. Cole released a letter from Kaep to the Jets’ General Manager, Joe Douglas.

“I asked Colin @kaepernick7 if I could share this letter with the world. It wasn’t just about football anymore but about racial injustice, police violence, and systemic oppression. By choosing this form of protest, Colin placed himself in the eye of a storm, facing both intense admiration and severe backlash. Despite the controversy, this move amplified his influence, transforming him from a celebrated athlete to a prominent activist and inspiring figure for many.

SOURCE SPORTS: Colin Kaepernick Reaches Out to Jets After Aaron Rodgers Injury

a

The Aaron Rodgers injury with the New York Jets has pulled up all types of names for a potential replacement. One of which is Colin Kaepernick, whose agent contacted the Jets.

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Kaepernick is looking to don the Jets green, following a seven-year hiatus after protesting racial injustice during the national anthem.

Kaepernick is now 35 years old and keeping himself in shape. In July, Kaepernick spoke to Sports Illustrated and said, “I’m going to keep fighting for it because I know I can step on the field and play.”

Colin Kaepernick Reportedly Eyeing Jets QB Job

Colin Kaepernick is one of those names that is constantly floated around when a quarterback gets injured. However, he has never actually been called upon. The former 49ers star has not played a snap of football since 2016. He was eventually blackballed by the league for his National Anthem protests. Overall, what happened to him was incredibly injust. He has tried to get back into the league since then, but nothing has ever worked out. At this point, it is common knowledge that it is too late for him to get back out there.

Regardless, he is still trying to get on a team. Last year, he had a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders, although it was reportedly a disaster. Now, it seems like he wants to join the New York Jets. Last night, Aaron Rodgers injured his Achilles and he is now out for the year. The Jets are going to have to rely on Zach Wilson, and many believe this would be ill-advised. Consequently, Kap’s agent has decided to reach out to the Jets to see if his client can get a workout.

Colin Kaepernick Wants A Shot

There are a multitude of other names out there right now. That said, it’s unlikely that Kaepernick is the team’s first choice. Instead, they would probably go with a Carson Wentz, who actually played in the league last year. Taking Kaepernick would be a huge risk, and he would most certainly be their backup. Should Wilson go down or play poorly, the Jets’ playoff hopes would ride on Kap’s shoulders. Considering how long he has been away from the game, very few people see this as a good idea.

For Jets fans, the mere mention of Colin Kaepernick probably makes them think their season is over. Let us know what you think the Jets should do, in the comments section below. Colin Kaepernick Explains It Was “Difficult” Having Race Talks With Parents

He remains one of the NFL’s most controversial figures in recent years, and all Colin Kaepernick wanted to do was take a knee. The former NFL star’s career has been derailed due to his silent protest that shook up political and sports circles. Kaepernick has reportedly been blackballed from the league, but he continues to pursue his career on and off the field. He works effortlessly with several organizations, and recently, Kaepernick unveiled his new graphic novel, Colin Kaepernick: Change the Game.

In it, the activist used his life story as the plot. We see a young Black man trying to navigate life with white adoptive parents in predominately white spaces. In an interview with CBS Mornings, Kaepernick also spoke about the “problematic things” his parents would say and do. In a follow-up dialogue with the author of his graphic novel, Eve L. Ewing, he further explained how difficult it was to navigate those conversations. “I’ve had a lot of responses from other transracial adoptees on that front,” Kaepernick revealed.

Colin Kaepernick Struggled With Having Tough Conversations

In those discussions with adoptees from similar backgrounds, the former baller explained how “unique” those dynamics are. Kaepernick has always stressed the love he has for his parents. Throughout his career, he’s made it clear that he couldn’t have reached such heights without their support. “It is very difficult for people to have a nuanced conversation around it,” he told Ewing. “Like, yeah, the people that love you and that you love can also perpetuate very problematic elements, and those things can exist at the same time.”

“And part of it is like, how do you grapple with that? How do you navigate that?” he further questioned. “And especially at a young age, where it’s like, are you equipped to navigate that, and are your parents equipped to navigate that?” Additionally, Kaepernick also revealed to PEOPLE magazine that he was purposeful in what stories from his youth he wanted to share. Change the Game is from the perspective of a teenage Kaepernick, navigating social circles and home life while feeling both loved and like an outsider. The graphic novel is available for purchase now.
