Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Leaves Chiefs Win Hand-In-Hand

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce left the Chiefs’ playoff win over Miami holding hands in an image very similar to one of their first public ones as a couple. Leaving Arrowhead Stadium hand-in-hand was one of the first public images that confirmed that they were a couple. However, Swift later revealed to TIME that they had been seeing each other for several weeks before that.

The Chiefs earned an easy victory over Miami. Meanwhile, the game turned out to be one of the coldest playoff games in NFL history. The game-time temperature was -4 degrees, with an additional wind chill of -22 degrees. That didn’t stop the Chiefs, who cruised to a 26-7 victory. Tua Tagavailoa was held to less than 200 passing yards as the Chiefs defense smothered every avenue of attack for Miami. The Chiefs will face the winner of Bills-Steelers.

Chiefs Wait On Opponent As Bills-Steelers Postponed

However, the Chiefs will have to wait on that winner. Steelers at Bills, originally scheduled for January 13 at 1pm will now be played on January 15 at 4:30pm. “Now, you may see clear skies [Sunday] morning, but don’t be fooled. The bull’s-eye of the storm is predicted to hit midday Sunday afternoon right during the scheduled Buffalo Bills game. [The game will] continue to be played at Highmark Field right in Orchard Park. It’s all part of our critical efforts to keep New Yorkers, motorists and fans safe from this wildly unpredictable storm,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a public address.

With a shelter-in-place order active, the Bills will not be able to address the several feet of snow expected at Highmark Stadium. Furthermore, the team has asked any fans who can safely make it to the stadium on Sunday to help the team shovel snow ahead of Monday. However, this is a regular and long-standing occurrence for the Bills. The team is offering $20 an hour and complimentary food for anyone willing to help.

Taylor Swift wore a custom Kansas City Chiefs jacket featuring her boyfriend, Travis Kelce’s number on Sunday night. The wife of 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, Kristin, made the piece. Swift attended the wild card game at Arrowhead Stadium with Donna Kelce amid freezing temperatures.

With Taylor’s support, the Chiefs defeated the Miami Dolphins with ease by a score of 26-7. Despite his girlfriend being in attendance, Kelce had mixed results on the field individually. He finished with seven catches for 71 yards but dropped several passes throughout the game.

The game made history as one of the coldest of all time with temperatures hovering around -4 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of kickoff. Additionally, there are wind chills of -22 degrees. The decision to play in the frigid temperatures comes after New York Governor Kathy Hogul stepped in to push the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers game back from Sunday to Monday. She explained in a statement on Twitter: “I’ve been in communication with @NFL commissioner Roger Goodell regarding the dangerous conditions in Buffalo this weekend. In consultation with our emergency response teams, @BuffaloBills leadership, and the NFL, the Bills game will be postponed to 4:30 pm Monday.”

Bills-Steelers Postponed To Monday, Chiefs-Dolphins To Go Ahead Despite Wind Chill

The first playoff game of 2024, Steelers at Bills, will be postponed until Monday due to heavy snow expected in Buffalo on Saturday. The game, originally scheduled for January 13 at 1pm will now be played on January 15 at 4:30pm. “Now, you may see clear skies [Sunday] morning, but don’t be fooled. However, Chiefs-Dolphins will go ahead despite reports that the wind chill could reach as low as -30 degrees in Kansas City. “There are no public safety travel concerns for getting to the stadium for fans, the clubs, stadium personnel or public authorities,” an NFL source told ESPN. The NFL has been in touch with both teams’ medical staffs and will be prepped to combat the cold weather.

However, both the Chiefs and Dolphins are not worrying about the cold. “No one likes being cold. That’s why we have temperature control. However, it does make the moment bigger when you know that it is an absolute fact that it’s going to be frigid. Well, what if as a team, you find a way for it to not affect you? To be able to go and do athletic performance in that weather, it takes will. That will comes from a passion that is deep down that has been derived while a lot of these guys started playing the game that you’re unlocking,” Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniels said. The Chiefs are favored by 4.5 points, according to ESPN Bet.

There is one other playoff game scheduled for January 13. However, it will not be affected by the weather thanks to its Texan venue. Houston hosts Cleveland in a curious matchup of two teams who have roared back to relevancy. The Browns are two-point favorites, the first time that the team has been favorites in a playoff game since 1994.

Travis Kelce Will Play In 2024

Travis Kelce has confirmed that he intends to play the 2024 season with the Chiefs. “I have no reason to stop playing football. I love [playing with the Chiefs]. We still have success, come in with the right mindset, and I just love the challenge that it gives me every single day to try and be at my best. I have no desire to stop anytime soon,” Kelce said Thursday.

Furthermore, the 34-year-old tight end said he had contemplated retirement but simply wasn’t in a place to think about life without the Chiefs just yet. “I’ve been fortunate to do a few things outside of the sports world that I’ve been enjoying doing, like getting on camera. The [Saturday Night Live] stuff kind of opened up a new happiness and maybe a new career path for me. But it’s funny for me to even say that at this point in my career. I think it’s so much further down the road than it is right now,” Kelce added. The 11-6 Chiefs open their Super Bowl defense with a wildcard matchup against Miami.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned game between the Chiefs and Dolphins is expected to be one of the coldest in NFL history. Daytime highs in Kansas City are projected at 12 degrees. However, with the game set to begin at 7pm, the temperature could be as low as -3 degrees come kickoff. There is also an expected amount of high wind chill. This could majorly affect the game, and the team’s strategies. But both sides are going to want to bundle up warm.

If the temperature does hit -3, then it would become the fifth-coldest game in playoff history. The record is the 1967 “Ice Bowl”, which had a game-time temperature of -13 and a wind chill temperature of -48. However, the cold weather conditions could pose a problem for Miami. The Dolphins haven’t won a game played below 40 degrees since Christmas Eve 2016. Saturday, if projected temperatures are reached, will be the coldest game in Dolphins history.

Chiefs legend Christian Okoye has stepped in to defend Taylor Swift after some critics have blamed the singer for the Chiefs’ recent on-field woes. “She has nothing to do with how the team’s doing right now. Taylor Swift is not on the field,” Okoye said. “Travis is playing like he always plays. Teams are just doubling up on him now knowing that our receivers are dropping the balls,” Okoye argued in an interview TMZ.

Furthermore, Okoye said he’s a big fan of what Swift has added to the team over the course of the season. “When you’re doing bad, people have to find excuses. And they have to point fingers. Especially those who don’t like the situation about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Those people are pointing fingers and making it up right now. So I have to tell you they are wrong,” Okoye added.

The Chiefs have now lost three of their last four and four of their last six games. Mahomes was sacked four times on Christmas Day while throwing for just 246 yards. Meanwhile, the ground game failed to generate less than 100 yards of total offense. This included a stretch late in the second quarter when the Raiders scored two defensive touchdowns in the space of seven seconds. The Chiefs close out the season against the Bengals and Chargers.
