Boise’s Treefort Music Festival has unveiled the third and final wave of artists that are joining their lineup. Alongside the fest’s headliners Channel Tres, Briston Maroney, Neko Case, and more, several new global performers have been added to the stacked list.

In the final lineup reveal, Treefort’s picks span a range of genres. There’s the Grammy-nominated Cimafunk, the LA-based folk-pop performer Kate Bollinger, an “an eight-piece psychedelic cumbia band” called Los Chapillacs, the Aussie pop group Blusher, and many more, according to a press release.

There will also be a comedy section running at the fest, with Janeane Garofalo being among the one-night-only headliners.

Given that the festival will run from March 20 to 24, it allows attendees more than enough time to catch all of their favorite acts. Tickets are currently on sale, with prices expected to raise on March 1. Right now, a five-day General Admission ticket is $295.

Treefort also offers options ZIPLINE (front-of-line access) and U21 (under 21) pass options for different prices. And, if you only want to go one day, those tickets are available, too.

Channel Tres Commands People’s Attention On “Walked In The Room”

Channel Tres, since he entered the music industry in the late 2010s decade, has positioned himself to be a very versatile artist. He thrives in the dance and house genres, respectively. However, he is also a talented rapper at the same time. Usually, when you hear dance/house artists on a song, they are singing. But, Tres can do it all.

In the present and years past, he has been showing us that he is the ultimate Swiss Army knife. Earlier this year, Channel brought his cool and effortless flows to SG Lewis’s sophomore project, AudioLust & HigherLove. He is on perhaps the best track, “Fever Dreamer.” Then, just about a week or so ago, Tres delivered another solid performance to KAYTRANADA’s EP, Lover/Friend.

After those great guest appearances, he recently returned to his material with a single. “Walked In The Room” sees Channel right at home on a groovy and funky instrumental from Roman GianArthur. Many might remember him from the cult classic hit from Jidenna, “Classic Man.” The California artist is bringing braggadocious bars about being a man who draws a ton of attention from the ladies. It is a fun listen and you can check out the video above.

What are your initial thoughts on this new song, “Walked In The Room,” by Channel Tres? Is this the best song the California artist has put out this year, why or why not? Does Tres possess some of the most unique talent out of any hip-hop adjacent artist that is going right now, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Quotable Lyrics:

Look in the mirror, I’m the s***
You can see me monolith
Let’s get in our zone, put down the phone
Feel alive here, I just need your ass to jump
‘Cause ain’t nothin’ down there
I feel like the chairman and s***

Channel Tres Shows Off Some Slick Moves In His ‘Walked In The Room’ Video

Compton DJ/rapper Channel Tres is kicking off the rollout to his 2024 project with “Walked In The Room,” its funky first single. The video, directed by Aris Chatman, higlights Tres’ slick dance moves as he explores Los Angeles’ LIttle Tokyo. The house-driven production anchors the upbeat track, while Tres’ cool vocals detail his laid-back outlook on life.

“Walked In The Room” is the firstsingle from Tres’ upcoming project, as well as his first since dropping the February EP Real Cultural Sh*t. The EP was the Hub City artist’s first major-label release and featured the singles “Just Can’t Get Enough,” “No Limit,” and “6am.”

Also this year, Channel Tres began expanding his reach with a series of collaborations, introducting his funky “Compton House” take on dance music to new audiences. In January, he teamed up with UK producer SG Lewis and Charlotte Day Wilson on “Fever Dreamer.” Then, in February, he and fellow West Coast native Terrace Martin released “Chucks,” a groovy ode to the unofficial official footwear of Los Angeles and its surrounding cities.

Most recently, Tres joined forces with the current standard bearer of Black dance music, Kaytranada, on “Stuntin‘,” the B-side of Kaytranada’s single “Lover/Friend” with fellow Canadian Rochelle Jordan. The 1-2 punch ensured that more music fans will be finding out about Jordan — and Tres.

Kaytranada Ends His Prolifically Collaborative Year With Excellent Singles Featuring Rochelle Jones And Channel Tres

Kaytranada November 2023

For Kaytranada, this year has more or less been defined by collaboration. He even welcomed a few familiar faces to join his Coachella set. This summer, he and Aminé joined forces to drop their Kaytraminé album, which Uproxx’s Aaron Williams dubbed “not just the album of the summer, but the literal soundtrack of it,” and subsequently toured in support of it. And if that weren’t enough, Kaytranada produced on Victoria Monét’s Grammy-nominated album, Jaguar II.

Kaytranada had no other choice but to punctuate 2023 with a collaborative single. The good news is that he decided to offer up a double single. Even better news? A full-length Kaytranada album is expected to drop in 2024, as per press release.

On Thursday morning, November 30, Kaytranada shared “Lover/Friend” featuring Rochelle Jordan, and the B-side is “Stuntin” featuring Channel Tres. Each song also has an instrumental version available to enjoy.

“Lover/Friend” is as scintillating as its title suggests — a classic will-they-won’t-they elevated by unique production and gorgeous vocals. The press release correctly describes it as “quintessential Kaytranada, providing the producer’s trademark bounce with enough space to let Jordan’s vocals shine.”

“Stuntin” is also bouncy but exists on a totally different wave, as Tres’ sultry voice delivers a confident message in an assured but hushed tone.

Channel Tres Announces The Release Date For His Long-Awaited Major-Label EP, ‘Real Cultural Sh*t’

At long last, Channel Tres has finally announced the release date for his upcoming EP, Real Cultural Sh*t. Real Cultural Sh*t will mark his major label debut EP, and his sixth overall, and will arrive later this month.

Over the years, Tres has preserved the art of house music in his work, even before its mainstream resurgence last year. His upcoming EP will contain his signature sound of house music, which he calls “Compton house,” as well as music inspired by ’70s disco and Motown.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, he revealed that his work has caught on with so many of his collaborators that now, even they are starting to send him demos and beats containing house music.

“Now [my family] are all into it,” he said. “I got homies sending me house music now. I grew up with Ty Dolla $ign, and I always thought he was just this hard dude; [but now] we’ll be DJing together, dancing, just having a good time and it’s so cool. Like, house music is for everybody. But it’s special when it’s your people.”

Terrace Martin And Channel Tres Write A Love Letter To LA With Their New Single ‘Chucks’

Jazz musician Terrace Martin has teamed up with house producer and singer Channel Tres for a breezy new collaboration. On their new single, “Chucks,” the two describe a day in Los Angeles, while on foot in their favorite shoes — Converse, also known as Chuck Taylor’s.

On the song, Tres makes nods to the City of Angels, by rap-singing, “Walkin’ on the street I see cop cars / Walkin’ on the street that’s the boulevard / It’s that motherf*ckin’ hustle and bustle sh*t / Know what I’m sayin’”

Throughout the thumping, groovy beat, Martin’s signature saxophone riffs give the song a dreamy feel.

In a press release accompanied by the track, Martin describes it as “a sonic picture that represents New Los Angeles. The driving pulse of the song represents the tempo of traffic, the bass line is the attitude of a true Angeleno, the space that Channel commands with his vocals closely relates to the motion of water. At the end of the day it’s goin’ to make you move and feel good about being alive.”

Tres also explained that lyrically, he wanted to pay homage to his west coast childhood.

“This record is about reminiscing and grieving my past,” Tres said. “I grew up on Long Beach Blvd. and a lot of things took place there. I remember the donut shop, the car wash, the Compton swap meet, and I tried to best articulate that feeling with space and groovy production. Chucks were also my choice of shoe growing up — they cost $25 at the swap meet, and they looked good. I had a bunch of them.”
